This is my favorite craft store around. They seem to have everything and their sales are fantastic. I cleaned up on top quality wrapping paper after Christmas which is year round paper really. Since Christmas isn't my jam I always try to get neutral paper for wrapping. I have used a lot of it and people have commented on how much they like the paper... I wish it was more about the present inside. lol But I buy a lot of my frames there too. They always have some sort of sale so you don't have to pay full price too... You won't be disappointed... they too have a drive up option if you order oine! read more

First off, the positive ratings are all at least a year old. It was my first time at this store since moving nearby, and it was a nightmare. I was looking for some art supplies for myself, and for a birthday present for my granddaughter. Many shelves were poorly stocked - every color but white paint in one section. I had several items in my cart, and I could not find any illustration boards. I went up & down the art section multiple times. I found bristol boards, foamcore boards, and poster boards, but no illustration boards and no one to ask either. I went to the cashiers up front, and asked one if their is anyone on the floor to help. I was expecting her to pick up the phone, and call for someone, but she just laughed and said, "I doubt it!" my wife, who also had several items, and I left the cart blocking the exit door as we left. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! read more

This is the second time in a month I've left this store empty handed. The first time a worker tried to tell me that flannel was fleece. This time the scrapbook stickers the website says are in stock are not, along with many, many others. This store is not well stocked and quite frankly bare. It's embarrassing. read more

Went here today to get balloons filled. I brought my own balloons and was looking for 150 to be filled. the employee i talked to originally was very sweet and the balloons are a new thing so she got her manager for me to answer more questions. They did inform me they would be able to fill them all in two hours. I should have planned ahead but unfortunately this was a last minute thing and i needed them asap. I believe he said he could do 90 in an hour and i agreed that would work. Came back in an hour and he did just over 90 for us. He did lose a couple balloons and just replaced them for me. The staff here was amazing. Definitely plan ahead! but for having no notice and not much time they had they absolutely killed this. I didn't have to pay a deposit when dropping the balloons off and just paid when i got back for pick up. I will say they charge $1.99 per balloon to fill (since i brought my own). this was a large price i was not expecting and I do wish we were told how much it would be before agreeing. Customer service overall was amazing. I did have to take two trips for the balloons and they were absolutely okay with this. 9/10 experience and will recommend for others if they are not wanting to fill their own balloons. read more

I saw on the Michael's app that the spring stems were 70% off and then a coupon for 20%off. So I headed to the store. The floral section said 40% off spring stems. I grabbed a bunch and then found another floral section. It didn't have any sale signage. At one point I walked past the register area and the line was a mile long. So I nosed around and looked at the flowers again. Went back and there was no one in the check out line. Of course it took several moments for anyone to acknowledge me. I'm sure they were straightening stuff up after the mad rush. I asked the check out gal about the 70% off. She had no idea. The first few items rang up as 40% off. Then some were regular price. A few rang up as 70% off. She said that probably not all the stems were categorized as spring stems. I bought them knowing that I would be returning most of them. I am making a center piece and wanted to have plenty of options for it. I just don't understand the pricing. Why didn't the store have accurate signage up. The gal was as helpful as she could be, she was efficient checking me out. I certainly won't rush right in for a sale anymore. I'll need a coupon for my very specific needs. We'll see how the return process goes. read more

I frequently go to Michaels for craft supplies and decor around the home. It's the neatest store with tons of options. They have an abundant supply of products. Every aisle is clearly labels so that from an overview when you enter the store you can figure out where to go. There seems to be always at least a 40% or 50% coupon you can use on a regular priced item which is fantastic! I've gotten many items at great deals here. If you are planning a wedding, it's a great idea to come here as well. What I really love as well is there this store is always adequately staffed. Even when the line gets long on the busy days, they'll have about several cashiers on hand to make it go quickly. Overall, I highly recommend this store! read more

Michaels - Canvas at awesome prices! - Arts & Crafts Near Me - West Des Moines, Iowa

This is one of those places (like book stores) that I could find something I love in every single aisle. It's a fantasy playground. Had a great time here this afternoon just wandering around and trying not to throw things in my cart. In the end, I just got a couple of items, but it took a ton of willpower not to buy 20 items...my cashier named September was fantastic. Friendly & engaging, she was a nice combo of efficient and chatty. I will be back again and again. PS: they ALWAYS have clearance sales and/or coupons from their website to use!! read more

LOCATION: Conveniently located right off the exit of I-235. Also, this Michael's is huge! (At least it felt like it was much larger than the Michaels craft stores I have been to). PRODUCTS: Michaels had everything I needed for my craft project, and everything was easy to find. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great customer service! Staff was helpful and friendly. read more

This store has the best hours: M-Sat 9am to 9pm Sun 10am to 7pm And I swear everytime I go there and make a purchase I get coupons for later! Who doesn't like getting coupons? Very few stores give them now a days. But its still your average craft store... read more

At the eleventh-hour I needed a frame to fit an unusually sized piece of art, and I knew I could find SOMEthing at Michael's. Yet, my reason for five stars, is the experience I had today. Edie in framing went above and beyond to help my last-minute art gift, look great. She even put on gloves (without my asking) before she handled the art. She was generous with her time to make sure things were A+, took interest in the gift, who it was for, and even complimented me on giving one. These types of extras are free, but mean so much. I came home happy with my purchase, and I will definitely be back for custom framing in the future. read more

Bearded guy in the framing department is condescending and rude. Interupted me repeatedly as I was trying to clearly explain what I wanted and criticized everything in a snotty tone. I walked out of there intent on not ever going back to that counter again. Turns out, they were at least $40 higher than the other two lovely, privately owned frame shops that gave me pricing. I won't be framing with Michael's anymore. There are better, kinder, more polite people out there that deserve the framing business. read more

Deals on deals on deals! I come here more than anywhere else for my crafting needs. I am a good stylist and sometimes I prop food sets or need special props and always head here first. They always have coupons available online and via email or text. Most things are on sale consistently whether is X% off or BOGO or whatever. Awesome selection of baking needs and glass bottles. And the staff is super helpful! read more

Absolutely love this Michaels! The staff is amazing; kind, courteous, knowledgeable and very helpful. I recently had a photo matted & framed. They did an excellent job. And the store was impeccably clean... I have never seen a craft store this organized! read more
