This store is located in the Sparks Crossing Shopping Center. It is a large store. They are always having a sale on the current seasonal items. They have a variety of items for crafters and hobbyists. Hobbies include photography, candle making, floral arrangements, baking, prepping for a wedding or baby shower, etc. I always look for coupons on my phone. I adore looking up the items I need online before I go to the store. That way it will tell me what aisle my item is on and where to look for it. It makes it a lot more convenient. I have yet to place an item on order to be picked up in-store. This is a fun store to go in and window shop. Employees are always kind and often have good advice. Did you know they offer Adult and Kids craft classes? Plus they also offer online classes too. Great parking and accessibility for all. read more

This store has terrible service. Came in looking for a specific product that they show online as being available in store. I ask one employee, he immediately said they don't have it and it's only available online. I asked if he could double check as it shows as being in stock. He did and found it to show in stock and told me where it was in the store. I went and it was absolutely not in the aisle. I walked around aimlessly hoping maybe it had been moved and the employee could clearly see me walking around, still unable to find this product but he just ignored me. I went up to a second employee and asked where this product was. She told me a completely different aisle so I went to check and AGAIN no where to be found! at this point I decided I'd just get on Amazon and decided to check out and get the heck out of there. I found some things on clearance. There were NO SIGNS in the clearance section, nor did anything come up when I scanned the items. I walked over to two employees who were just on their phones hanging out by the check out line. I asked if clearance items can be returned. They didn't even look up at me! One muttered "'no" but I barely could hear so I said "oh okay so they are final sale?" And he looked up at me completely annoyed and said "ya" as if I was a burden instead of a customer. Absolutely bizarre, and sad to say that this is a normal experience at this store. I only come here as an absolute desperate measure. read more

I ordered an item online and went to return it in this store. When I walked in the associate was rude asking if I even purchased the item clearly watching me walk in. The manager tried to do the return making the same comment and then attempted to return the item but wasn't able to give me the amount I paid and said that's just how it works and there is nothing she could do about it it's how we do it. Does not honor online prices. This store prices are almost DOUBLE that of online. Not much in the store and they make you do self checkout. Make sure you know how to enter any coupons before you start. Otherwise it's a big nightmare for staff. Actually don't even waste your time! This used to be one of my favorite goto places. Now it is kind of a last resort. I usually only come here now if something that I need is on sale or I have a coupon for a product. They used to be fairly priced but it seams like things are a little higher priced. Not sure if they are bringing in higher quality products or what. They usually have the yarn I am looking for. This is a little off the normal subject but needs to be addressed. For the past several months, the handicap bathroom in the women's bathroom has a door that will not close not to mention even lock. It is an embarrassment and what will a person do who needs to use a handicap toilet? I have brought this up dozens of times to different people working in the store. NO ONE CARES! I got so frustrated that I decided to write the CEO. Mr. Ashley Buchanan in Irving Texas about the matter. I assumed that SOMEONE WOULD sign for the priority letter and it would get their attention. I never expected that the priority envelope was returned to me completely unopened! This tells me volumes. THEY DON'T CARE! So I will post this problem everywhere I can continually until.....Until someone give a damn! The next time I am in the store I will take a picture and post it too! My family has been shopping at Michaels for the better part of 16 years. We've had a lot pictures framed there and bought a lot crafting supplies and other items over the years. Today they have lost us as customers. My wife went in to buy crafting supplies and a female employee practically jogged from the other side of the store and told her she either needed to put on a mask NOW or leave the store. Not a big deal, she had one in her pocket, she'd simply forgotten to put it on. She told the woman this, but the employee just wouldn't let it go. Even after getting the mask out and putting it on, the woman kept berating my wife in very overbearing and condescending tones. I must say it took tremendous effort not snap at that woman. She was a real jerk. We left and won't be back. We are long-standing customers, but we won't be berated by an overzealous hall monitor for an oversight we were attempting to correct. Shopping at Michael's is a necessity for crafters like myself. While I tend toward the "snob" side of things (I'm a knitter and the yarn available at Michael's isn't always the nicest to work with), it still comes up that I need supplies from Michaels and so then I head out to either this location or the one by Sam's Club in Reno. I don't know if this is true or not, but this location seems a bit smaller than the other one. There have been times when they haven't had the stock the other location did. But the staff here tends to be friendlier, the crowds and general attitudes of the shoppers are more pleasant and therefore I tend to prefer shopping here if push comes to shove. You can find a lot of everything here, but if you need something extremely specialized, you might need to order it online. Though there have been times in the past I have been surprised that they had a product I wasn't expecting them to have. Keep an eye on the paper or sign up for their email coupons. They put out about a coupon a week that gives you a great discount on your purchase. Also look out for sales, after holidays in particular. We have scored some great deals in the past on decorations this way. If you find yourself out in sparks and you need some craft supplies, you have to stop in at Michael's! read more

Suggestion....if you're going to close earlier then your posted sign so you can get done with everything else, then change the posted hours. Let me start by saying that I am not a crafter. Every once in awhile, I get a creative urge that brings me to a craft store like Michael's. By the end of the craft, by no fault of the store, I remember why I don't craft! Anyway, I needed some supplies for the cake topper I am working on for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary so I stopped by Michael's on a Saturday. Right before the holiday season. I was already dreading the normal crowd that Michael's draws, but knew it would be even busier. I looked around until I found what I needed which just so happened to be a can of gold spray paint. It was behind a locked gate, but had a button to push for assistance. Luckily another patron needed help so an assistant came quickly and offered to help me after he assisted the other person. This same gentleman had also greeted me warmly when I was meandering around the store earlier. I told him what I needed, he made suggestions, we had a laugh about Martha Stewart, and he brought my selection up front for me. He also pointed me in the direction of the glue guns. It was SO easy and very helpful. That man made my whole shopping experience (wish I knew his name). The line to check out was fairly long, but not crazy, and moved quickly. My cashier was friendly, signed me up quickly for the rewards card (for my once a year craft venture), and I was on my way. I actually do like Michael's as a store. They have a wide variety and selection of products at pretty reasonable prices. For being such a large store, they have everything pretty organized so it is not too difficult to find what you need. If you are a crafter this must be a mecca of sorts! read more

Purchased a nice piece of artwork for my husband for our anniversary. He decided he wanted a piece of glass added to the framing to protect it. Well took it to Michaels and they got something on the matting. They tried to clean it and ruined it. Took two weeks to get a new one. Now that its in I hope they can come through and get it framed correctly without messing anything else up. Stay tuned. I will update this review once I receive the piece back. Okay, so normally I am fine with Michael's. Unlike some other stores we won't mention, they are open on Sunday, the day I shop. So points for that. What gives them no points is that they refused to honor a sale price for something that was posted literally all over the store. 70% off Halloween was posted all over the store. Great. I pick up a black pencil tree (tall skinny fake tree) in a box that says in big, orange wording, "Ashland Halloween". Cute. I have always wanted a Nightmare Halloween tree. Granted it will sit in the garage until next fall, but it's 70% off of $100. So $30...cool. Well what wasn't cool was when I got to the register and it didn't ring up 70% off. I very politely told the associated that signs all over the store and where this was say 70% off Halloween. She tells me that trees are different as they are Christmas. I giggle and say, I have been eyeballing this treat since August! The box clearly says "Ashland Halloween" and it was right in front of a sign that said "Halloween 70% off". So...it is 70% off. She says to me no, trees are for Christmas, so no. Seriously? It's black, says Halloween on the box and it's a tall skinny, creepy tree! She wouldn't budge. A store by law is required to honor posted sale prices. This store didn't. Not cool. If it had been a few bucks. I would have been just irritated, but this was a lot and not cool. Next time, post signs that say, 70% off except for items we deem multi seasonal but say Halloween on the packaging. Long eye roll. read more

A friend of mine is getting married in May as so we've been visiting a lot of crafting/hobby stores to get supplies that she needs for the few things we are making for the wedding. These types of stores are also great places to go to get ideas when you're tired of staring at Pinterest boards. Normally, I shop at the Michael's in Reno only because it's closer to the house but we were in Sparks and needed to see if they had something that the other store was out of. Michael's is Michael's regardless of the location. Each store may stock the same items, or they might stock a different color, but for the most part the selection of items will be similar. You can use Michael's coupons here and you can also sign up for their Loyalty Program with your phone number. With the program, you can get additional coupons, tailored offers, etc. The store is clean, the cashier's are friendly and parking is convenient. If you're looking for anything "crafty" related then Michael's is good place to check out. read more

Always love to go to Michaels for all my craft needs, but don't dare go in there 30 mins before closing, they'll more than likely be off with your head!!! My husband and I showed up at 6:30pm on a Sunday and knew they were closing in 30 mins, which we respectfully knew we needed to get in and out ASAP, so they could start doing their closing procedure. We had all of our things except for one, and quickly grabbed an associate for help, so once again, we could get out of there fast and out of their hair. Not only did the associate have an annoyed aire to her, she also made sure to point out that they were closed and that she "guessed" she could help us. After getting what we needed, we quickly ran to the check out line and we're shockingly greeted by the most crotchety associate I've ever seen, making sure to mumble pissed off antics under her breath referring to everyone not wanting to leave so they could get home tonight....I promise you lady, it's all gonna work out for everybody and you could even leave with a smile on your face!! Think I'll skip going to this location, even if it's closer to home, no reason to infect the rest of us with all the negativity. I strolled around the store and found what I needed. I was the 4th in line to be rung up and a line was forming. A 2nd cashier came up got me out of there quick. I mostly go to this Michaels because it's conveniently located and on my way home from pretty much everywhere. They usually have what I need or at least something that will work. They seem to have a little bit of everything related to crafting. (If I am on a big craft supply shopping trip; however, I will go to Hobby Lobby mostly due to the prices and the fact that Hobby Lobby is so much larger and therefore has an even bigger selection.) My main irritation is actually that the coupons I get almost always exclude what I am buying, but I usually don't realize that until I am checking out. It's in the small print...lol My items usually fall into the category of "Exclusions subject to change" and they just happen to include whatever I choose to purchase. Go figure. That didn't happen today, though! I didn't even bother checking for coupons before heading out today. While I was checking out, the cashier said that she had a coupon for me and took 40% off. I didn't spend a lot today, but every little bit helps. She definitely made my day! I noticed a sign today that announced that they now have free wifi in the store. This is a handy feature! I cannot access the internet away from home without free wifi, so I appreciate places that offer this. This would come in handy if you need to check something on Pinterest or maybe even price check something. Today I used it to check in here on Yelp. ;) You can usually find an associate to ask for help in this Michaels (which I appreciate), but occasionally they are a bit less than enthusiastic. Today, a male associate (maybe even a manager) was walking by and while smiling said some sort of greeting to me as he passed. I said something like it in return and then realized by the change in his expression that he really wasn't interested in being slowed down even a bit. A bit surprised by the level of disrespectful and unwelcoming behavior of an older associate just now. My wife had placed a cart on the isle to sort of corral our year and a half old daughter; when this older female associate pushed the cart out of her way, which is fine. My wife had apologized for the cart semi-blocking her and attempted to explain why the cart had been where it was when the older woman scoffed and began talking over her "IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL, IT WILL GO RIGHT BACK!!" She gave us a crazy look and disappeared. I want to say that we expect more from people that work at a store.. or at least some level of courtesy. read more

I LOVE Michael's. They have everything I could ever need for any crafting need! Lately, I have been making custom order cupcakes, so I have been frequenting their baking section. I also am a scrapbooker so the Scrapbooking isle is also a stop on my agenda. I didn't have a problem with any of the employees as previous reviews stated. They were friendly and left me to my business. As far as I could tell everything was where it should be, and an employee was diligently working on organizing the isles. If your a craftaholic like I am, it's very easy to spend a lot of money. A few times I had to tell myself, "Jessica, do you REALLY need this?" Over all I will use Michaels to fulfill my needs again. Ask for a class schedule! They do classes for some pretty cute crafts! I think I may even start to make holiday wreaths too! This is a review of the manager at this location. I stopped in to buy some copic markers. The person at the register was rude and talked to me like I was a second class citizen. I went out to the car and called the store and asked to talk to the manager. She empathized with me, resolved the issue and made sure I was satisfied. I find myself at Michaels, probably once a week. The store is always having fantastic deals and typically after every purchase you receive a 40% off coupon for one regular priced item! (Now you know why I am there all the time-- what a stellar deal!) If you join their rewards program you receive emails with addition coupons as well! I recently used a 50% off coupon to purchase a scrapbook scrapbook that is regularly $40. Michaels has amazing decorations for the home or outside the home in addition to all of its crafting supplies, from beads for jewelry, scrapbooks, knitting, baking, you name it. I always check their clearance section as they usually have unique finds that are sometimes too good of a deal to pass up. They always have great selections for the holidays and I honestly just wish I could live at this store. Even if you go in there with no specific item in mind, you're bound to find something you like. Staff is always friendly too. The only thing that is disappointing to me about Michaels is that they no longer offer their regular classes in the store. I'd love to see those come back! read more

I'm sure this location is great for crafters, but they do not keep fine art supplies in stock: pens, pencils, brushes, paper pads. The selections are abysmal with many empty bins, very picked through. The most popular pens are always gone. I've been trying for months now, still empty bins. I asked a sales associate and was told new supplies come in every week, so they are obviously neglecting the fine art aisles. read more

Wife and I dropped off a simple piece of work to be matted. We were told it would take three days at the most but she might get to it later that day. Three days later I call, only to find they haven't a clue what I"m talking about. I called on the fourth day and was told "Oh, yes- I'll get that done." Fifth day- my wife calls and they say it's ready, come get it. I run to pick it up, and.... 5 minutes of confusion later- it's STILL not done. I demand a refund. No can do since I don't have my receipt. Terri says she'll finish it quickly, just give her 30 minutes. I kill time at Best Buy, return to Michaels and see that they've seemingly allowed a drunken 6 year old to matte the work we left. Seriously- it looked AWFUL. I took a pic that I wish I could post here. I had to have management refund me cash. I've been down this path three times with them now. In fact when my wife suggested Michaels, I told her what we were in for. Never again. If you're serious about having something framed properly- go elsewhere. read more

I am never impressed with this place really. Their aisles are all off from their signs, and I would just rather go to Hobby lobby honestly, or the Micheals off Kietzke. Their employees would rather say they don't have something to actually go and look. This has happened to me multiple times, and then I will go and look extra hard myself and find the product. It seems to always feel crowded and disorganized as well. I do like the 40% off coupon, but like I said, Id rather just use at the other Micheals. Less than impressed. read more
