I came here twice in the last week, I am a quilter and they have upended the store in order to put in a couple of aisles of wonderful quilting fabrics, plus the rulers, rotary cutter and cutting mats, and a cutting table. Just press the button to request a staff member to come and cut your fabric. I bought a few yards of Hello Kitty fabrics and I look forward to making a quilt out of them. I just had my best holiday shopping experience this season thanks to the service & quality work I received from professional framer Megan B. at the Saratoga store As I was waiting to get help with framing an item for a Christmas gift I saw Megan's interaction with another long time customer and I was already impressed. The customer then went out of her way to tell me that Megan was simply the best. My confidence and expectations were set high. But my project wasn't that glamorous. And my budget was limited. Megan gave me great advice on in-stock frames that would be suitable for what I wanted displayed. But the color she recommended wasn't in stock. I was under time pressure so she researched nearby stores that had the item. Shout out to the to the super helpful cashier in Cupertino who advised me to join the Michaels club to receive a needed (significant) coupon! But I returned to Saratoga to have my items professionally placed in the frame because, well, I was told Megan is the best. And guess what? She is! The work was perfect! Strongly recommend going to the Saratoga store & using Megan B for any professional framing! read more

I came into this Michaels on Wednesday Nov. 26th around 8 PM with my friend to pick up a keepsake I had professionally framed and to grab a few other items. This was my third attempt at picking it up, since the two previous framing attempts were unsatisfactory. We waited around the framing department with no one in sight, only to be told the employee was "on break." My friend asked for the restroom code and was told the bathrooms were closed at 5 PM--at a store that's still open. Not exactly customer-friendly. When someone finally showed up at framing and we opened my order, there was a black smudge on a robin's-egg-blue mat. I paid over $200 for professional framing, and once again the quality wasn't acceptable. This was the 3rd attempt at getting it framed. The first 3 attempts there were issues with the frame itself. At this point I asked to cancel and get a refund, but was told there was no manager on site and they needed permission. I left my information and asked to be contacted so I can get my refund and my item back. We went to check out, and two employees were standing at the register. One looked at us and immediately said she was on break and told us to use self-checkout. If one is behind the counter why couldn't she have helped, if you're standing at the counter, why can't you help a customer? If you're on a break why are you on the floor? As we walked off, talking about how the store had no manager present and no restroom access, one of the girls chimed in with a very rude, sarcastic "Yeah, happy holidays to you." At least the gal at the framing counter attempted to help us. This visit was unprofessional from start to finish. Once I get my refund for the framing, I won't be returning. I suggest others who wish to be treated with even glimmer of decent customer service go to any other location. read more

Their assortment of merchandise is always good and I love their faux tree selection. I don't come as I often as I used to because I am not a fan of how they encourage self checkout and often seem annoyed to have to ring someone up in person. I also do not like that you cannot take the shopping carts out of the store. Not ideal when you are purchasing heavy items or multiple bags. read more

I can definitely see why this location has such poor ratings. The employees were incredibly rude; several literally turned away when they saw me coming for help, and others made faces when responding. One staff member even intentionally ignored me until the fourth time I called out to them. The worst part was trying to find a restroom for my 4-year-old. After making me wait two minutes just to acknowledge me, they claimed the restroom "closed early" at 5:30 PM, even though the store is open until 9:00 PM. It's a joke. Really would leave zero stars to warn folks: just like excellent customer service really stands out, poor service and a consistently rude outlook stand out even further! Other people have mentioned her, she has been working the cash register for a few years at least and consistently has a big issue if you don't take her invitation to use self checkout!! She will always look at me with a put out stressed expression and tell me in a high querulous voice that " you know you can use self checkout if you are paying by credit card!!!!" And I always politely reply that i always have trouble getting coupons to read and would appreciate her help. She acts as if it's all my fault and rudely points out "SEE THATS ALL YOU NEED TO DO" I actually dread coming here because she always seems to be working but this location is so close to me. Every single time I come in there seems to be a problem. I try to steer clear of the cashier (Kathy) and use the self-checkouts. She's been there so long and it still seems like she's brand new. The manager is the worst. She's very cold and unhelpful. I don't know why Michael's corporate hasn't replaced her. It would definitely help their store. Why do I go there then? It's the closest place to me unfortunately. If I have the time I definitely make the drive to Hobby Lobby or Joann's. I had stopped going to Michael's for a year and a half because of these two associates. There was an issue with a return and I had called corporate once and even they said what the manager was doing was wrong. GET RID OF HER!!! SHES NOT HELPING YOUR BRAND AT ALL! I came here the other day to check out the framing selection for a large poster I have at home. I needed a 18x24 frame but their selection for them wasn't large in the color I was looking for (white). They did have a sale going on, so it could be a number of reasons but the option for these frames were limited to standard poster frames instead of a standard wooden frame. I ended up getting two frames for a different project and had the BOGO50%Off deal which helped me save and I was able to finish a different project in the mean time. It was a quick trip and they were restocking shelves so I didn't browse around much. I was surprised at how few sales they have on decor as of recently, but otherwise it was a nice time. Be sure to come in with the measurements for your photo or bring it in to ensure the frame fits well. The selection for smaller art and photos is larger than the any of their other frames, but there are some options if you don't have a specific idea in mind. read more

I went into the store to find Christmas Hats for my kids and grabbed a few other items, asked "Sonia" twice the first time she completely ignored my question and asked to enter my phone number. I again asked her again and she said with a smarta** tone "what's that". I said never mind purchased my items and walked out. I ordered a piece of art furniture online, and when I picked it up, the packaging was damaged, but I took it home and hoped for the best. Candice, who helped me with pickup, let me know that if there was anything wrong with it, to let her know and she'd make it right. Sure enough, there was damage, so I contacted the store and Candice searched high and low at other stores, finding one in Redwood City, which she got for me and arranged a trade. I appreciate how hard she worked to get me what I ordered, especially knowing how busy they've been with online orders and seasonal foot traffic. It was also a great price for the item. read more

It's a good thing this Michaels has self service machines because the human clerks are just miserable here :( Came here yesterday to return some items - all within the return time frame, unused, and receipts attached to the appropriate items, with a cheery attitude and the clerk was super frustrated to have to deal with the return. One of the returns needed to be canceled and when she tried calling one of the managers over she was completely dismissed by that manager. Oftentimes when staff are unkind and unhappy it's a reflection of the way the store is managed. As someone who works with Michaels as an IG content creator, I know this is not representative of Michaels as a company but just this particular store. Besides this company's shitty policies regarding returns and price matching (they do not accept any returns for whatever reason they deem worthy that day or price match to their OWN website) the employees here are the most unhelpful rude employees ever. They have followed me around the store as I was looking for something and they stated on the radio "eyes on sketchy girl". This location is literally a block away. They had several carts out front, and I walked in with one of those carts. Same color as their carts but the handle was worn down so it did not reflect the name of the company I went in to purchase about a dozen frames, I was told immediately upon entry, by a cashier, who was a good 10 yards away from me that they didn't permit those carts. They don't permit carts from other locations. I said it was right outside the door. She said it belonged to TJ Maxx. She had two customers and her line was taking care of one at the cashier station. She was yelling past her customer to yell at me, but I wasn't allowed in the store with that specific cart. I looked in all of their carts had long poles attached so that you can't take the cart to your car with a dozen frames. It's a parent they didn't want my business so I told them I would take it elsewhere. She did not seem to care. This year alone, I've spent probably $1000 at that location. It is extremely convenient. I will go out of my way moving forward to no longer visit that location if I received the same treatment at a different location I will find a new place to get my frames I should've looked at the reviews before going in there. I put in an order online but had to spread it across multiple Michael's stores since not everything I wanted was available at one store. Since this was the furthest store and I was busy, I couldn't get there until the last day. I went on the last day to do the pick up and 3 hours before closing, one of their staff decides to cancel and put away my order! What a waste of my time, with no offer to re-ring up the items for me or anything! What kind of staff does this? If there's 3 hours before closing, a customer is entitled to pick it up, up until closing. Well, I drove off to the other Michael's and luckily they still had the other part of my order. While some of staff were helpful (especially Angel, who was so patient and helped us with our large and complicated framing order), the manager of the framing department, Ramandeep , was extremely rude and hostile. She interrupted us twice during our order to tell Angel that he needed to take his lunch break. We understand that and had no problem being helped by someone else, but Ramandeep kept telling us to "wrap it up" and was repeatedly trying to rush us out of the store. Instead of trying to help us, or continue our order herself while Angel had his break, Ramandeep just growled "What do you want me to do?" and shared more sharp words with me and my husband before just leaving. We walked out without completing our order. As an older woman with health issues, I don't expect to be harassed by framing department managers who don't want to do their job. I was tired and shaking and hoping this endeavor didn't trigger another episode. Came here to pick up my "grab and go" order and immediately got weird vibes from the lady worker. So I walk in and head to the self service grab and go shelf, I find my order and went to grab it when I hear a lady yell at me from all the way by the cash registers "can I help you?" She comes walking over to me and is telling me she needs to do it herself. Confused-because I thought it was a SELF SERVICE GRAB & GO ORDER, I tell her "oh I thought I just grab my order?" And she says she has to do it in her system (riiiight) so I'm asking her if I have to show her my order or what do I do to prove it's my order because in the email it doesn't give any instructions to talk to an associate UNLESS I need help and I've had no issues walking in and just grabbing my order in the past. She says "yeah do you have an id or SOMETHING"... what does she mean "or something"??? So I already had a feeling this is something she implemented herself because she thought I was stealing or something. I told her I've never had this happen before and it literally says on the shelf "1. Find name 2.grab order 3.need help? Ask associate!" I didn't need help so idk why the associate came up to me. So when I told her the instructions I was given she goes "yeah it's a new honor system because we've had soooo many people take the wrong orders" and "I'm trying to set a good example for the rest of my employees". Long story short- I 100000% felt like I was targeted and called out because she thought I was stealing someone's order. INSIDE located at the back of West Gate on the Hamilton Ave side. There is no entrance to the mall from this store. The entrance door is small and narrow. Rectangular shaped Michael's location. STAFF we checked out at the cashier fine. Line was pretty long shopping after Christmas. The cashier knew what coupons we brought could be used on what. DEALS definitely check newspapers and online for coupons because they always have some type of coupon. The ones online you might have to print out last I knew but hopefully they've gone digital and let you show it on your phone nowadays. read more

There is an older woman that is extremely rude and un helpful. She gives the vibes that she hates her job. For being a reputable craft store this Michaels is going to stain their name. I'm actually very surprised that Michaels has poor reviews because this is my favorite craft store. They basically have anything that you're looking for and they always have sales going on. I love that a month out from a holiday they have sales up to 60% off that season. My husband is an artist and he loves coming here to dig around for new pens, pencils, sketch pads, and other tools. He's like a kid in a candy store when he's here. The workers are all very helpful and nice, I've never had any issues with a disgruntled employee. The only issue I have is that you can't take the carts out of the store and they aren't that big to begin with. So, if you're going to get big items you shouldn't buy too much in one trip. My friends and I have had to pull the car up to the front of the store, in the rain, and make three to four trips from the store to the car. It's pretty horrible. One employee told me I could tip the cart backwards to get the pole to go out the door, but I'd have to bring it back to the store. Duh! I think they should trust their customers to take the carts all the way to the car, seeing as how they've already bought the merchandise. If you can manipulate the cart that easily take it out of the door, it's not really going to stop people from stealing if they want to. Just saying... read more

I place an order on Dec.2nd. for 6 bottles of Elmer's Craftbond tacky glue for a Christmas project the kids are making as a gift for their parents. I needed the glue ASAP but didn't expect Michael's to take 2 to 3 days to process my order then another 6 or 7 days to be delivered. I can't wait that long. Received an email showing only 1 bottle of glue is being shipped. Called customer service, spoke to a young lady. She said each bottle is being shipped in 6 separate deliveries. The young lady was no help at all. I can't understand that, obviously I am working on a project to need that many bottles of glue. I called the headquarters. Spoke to a lady and told her what the problem is. She agreed that it didn't make sense for the glue to be shipped in 6 separate deliveries. She said they will help me and said she will have Ed call me back. At first I was relieved and there was hope. That went out the window when I waited the whole day and no call. I'm going to write a letter to the CEO. An email was sent from someone in CS giving me all 6 tracking #'s for my order. I can't believe it. I needed help in expediting my order. These people don't know anything about customer service . Wouldn't you think my order would come out of a warehouse/fulfillment center where they store tons of glue? Duh! This has caused me a lot of stress and frustration because the project has to be done this week. Kids are going on Christmas vacation. I wish I could give the store zero stars! I went in to do some necessary shopping while I was in the store, I urgently needed to use the restroom. I asked the clerk in the framing department if I could use the restroom even though there was a sign posted that said that the restroom was not available to customers at this time. I asked the young lady at the framing counter if the bathroom was out of order she proceeded to tell me that the bathroom was in working order but that they prefer that their customers do not use the restroom. I explained to the young lady that it was urgent -she said she would ask her manager If it would be OK for me to use the restroom. The clerk returned and told me that her manager said -absolutely not! They will not allow it! I am not sure what the reasoning is but if one explains to someone else that they have an urgent matter and they need to use the restroom it should be allowed. The young lady was courteous enough to point out a restroom inside the mall, which was extremely far away. I understand and respect the rules, but emergencies are emergencies!!! read more

This Michael's location sucks. DO NOT GO HERE. The store is consistently picked over. No one knows where anything is, On numerous occasions I've asked for something been told they don't carry that, and then found the item 10 minutes later while looking for the next thing on my list. They ignore you when you use the "assistance" box at the locked cases (which btw, do not appear to actually be attached to anything and the light in the one by the paint case that's supposed to let you know the button worked, doesn't light up) I was waiting five or ten minutes, then we tried to find someone nearby, and finally had to go to the front and ask them to send someone with a key, the person I asked looked at me like I offended her by asking for help, the cashier behind her came out with the marker case key, then realized I wanted the paint case and had to go back and call for the woman who can't read paint labels, (or signs, she pointed to a sign on the case that explains the case is locked to stop people from VANDALIZING THE PAINT CASE WITH THE PAINT, but acted like it was a shoplifting warning...wth? and btw dummies, if I wanted to vandalize the paint area I would not be using the WATERCOLORS, I would choose the UNLOCKED OPEN STOCK oil paints or acrylics, you know stuff that would be hard to clean off and isn't locked up) but for some reason, she is allowed to be the person with the key to the paint case, she basically pushed me out of the way, blocked the case with her body, (you know 'cause short, 43 year old women are such thugs, I might have *gasp* picked out my colors and handed them to her to take to the register while we finished shopping!!! The SHOCK !! THE HORROR!!.) and refused to let me just get the colors out. (After staring at the case for so long waiting for the key, I knew where they all were, whereas she works there and could not find a single one of them with anything resembling speed) It was like trying to watch someone thread a needle, and it quickly became clear she was just grabbing things and not reading, and she was nasty about it the entire time, acted like I was trying to steal things and when I pointed out the call box didn't work she got SUPER b***-y and said "Oh we heard you " I said "So you just ignore it?" she goes "I was helping someone else" (I doubt this claim of "Helping" anyone highly, since she was so nasty to me, and started off treating me like I was inconveniencing her and trying to steal paint) Here's a tip: Hand the Key to someone else, dummy, you're not the queen of the key, and it wasn't that busy, not to mention I searched all the aisles in the back of the store, while my BF searched the side aisles for help before we gave up and went to the front and never saw you or another customer, so if you were helping someone, you were invisible. After she had gotten about a quarter of the paint I wanted out I gave up, I couldn't handle watching her try to figure out the paint labels anymore, so they missed out on some money there. I just told her that was it. (I'll order the rest from Blick or go to University. It's not worth putting up with what passes for customer service at Michael's any more. And the coupons only make the stuff cost what it does normally without a coupon at other places.) The real reason we came here was to get the paint and something else that University doesn't carry and we'd have had to go to the bead store for, so this was supposed to be a one stop solution to going cross town. But they didn't even have the other thing we wanted.... SO.NOT.WORTH.IT. Then she took the paint up to the register, when I got up there, there was a whole new level of weird in that the cashier has some sort of problem with the coupon and it took her like 10 minutes to figure out and needed a call to "Rude-o the color blind, paint key holder" to fix. I still don't know what was going on there. I think she thought the coupons were supposed to stack or something so she was trying to ring them both through(?) I don't know. I didn't ask her to, she just did it, then got confused, and after that I am not really sure what either of them were talking about. And the sad thing is if she (Paint Key Queen) hadn't started off the interaction with the viscous sneer, and maybe tried to be the least bit polite I would not have gotten so angry. Whatever happened to a smile and a "How can I help you?". When did it become okay to start an interaction with a customer that's been kept waiting with a growl of "yes!?" like I killed her dog? I get people can have bad days at work, but this is not the first time this Michael's has been a completely miserable experience. I think this Michael's is made out of "Bad days at work" The management must suck all the donkey d***s ever, if the employees' attitudes and competence are any indication. This was definitely a really disappointing experience. I ordered online using curbside pick-up due to Covid-19. When I arrived at the store and called the number provided via email, they informed me that they "do not encourage curbside pick up" and that I would need to go into the store to pick up my purchases. This totally defeats the purpose of ordering curbside pick up in the first place. I only ordered from this store because they were out of the item that I needed at a different location, which DID provide curbside pick ups as advertised. I had a great experience at the other location that I decided to order curbside pick up from this location too. If I knew this was the case, it would have been faster for me to go in the store, find the item, pay and leave than to stand around waiting for someone to help me and find my order. I had a good experience at Michaels today. I found what we needed for our craft today. Gathered everything and went to pay. There were only a couple of people ahead of us. But there were three cashiers! We were in and out of Michaels in 15 minutes! I read the other reviews and for the most part, I agree with the other shoppers. It gets really crowded at this location. They tend to get understaffed when you are looking for that really important item. But they have almost everything possible for your craft. Employees are ok. I haven't had any bad experiences yet. This place is unbelievable! I have been here 4 times in 2 days, because the line is ridiculously long, I live close and I don't have an hour to waste. For years there has been a line at the Westgate store. Lately, there is only one very friendly cashier, talking away, while slooowly ringing up the customers.
