I ordered at the counter a set of birthday balloons first wk of April. The employee filled out a sheet on a clipboard, had me pay & asked when I wanted them, which was May 30th, day of party. The MORNING of the party when I'm running to pick up cake, ice, etc. I called Michael's from my car & asked if balloons were ready. This was approx. 2 pm. The man on the phone said " we can't find it". Not sure what that means so I asked what I should do next? He gave the phone to a woman who said, "bring your reciept to prove you bought it." When I purchased the lady said, "you're all set, you don't need anything else, just show up and we'll have it ready for you". I have no idea where the receipt is 2 months later!! I had to drive home turn my home upside down & found it. Sped to Michaels where they had my ballons by the register. I walked up and said "hi, are those my ballons"? She said "yeah, here" AND WALKED AWAY. Because I'm the nicest person you'll ever meet rather than run out I wanted a reason for all this so I asked "do we know what went wrong" to which this lady who looked like the manager replied, "the lady who took your order was crazy, she doesn't work here anymore". What?!?! Super unprofessional. Manager didn't even look at my receipt or at least apologize. Horrible experience. I ordered items online using a coupon and my rewards (because I have spent many a dollar here) & an item was cancelled due to them "not having it in the store." I go into the store & I find it myself so I ask the manager to adjust the price of them item accordingly so it reflects the coupon AND my $5 reward as though they'd actually been able to fulfill it. I had to explain myself twice because she rushed me through my explanation & turned her back on me while I was speaking. Mind you, I bought 8 of this item and one is only like $4.99 so it would be adjust down to maybe $4. She said she can't do that, which is odd that a store manager can't make a one dollar price adjustment on a single item, but different companies have different policies I suppose. Based on principle I just asked her to refund the entire purchase. I only decided to buy here instead of Amazon because I had coupons but back to Amazon I take my hard earned cash. The employees here are what makes this place shine. We can tell that they have a personal bond with each other which makes them such a great team. They go above and beyond their roles to assist the customers. The manager took time away from her break to help me with an item. And on a previous trip each member was super patient as I fumbled my way through their website so I could put in an online order. With the Fourth of July coming and with the many shoppers is having to get things early going to Michael's getting greeted right when I came in the door and that told me they have great customer service. What is the one thing that you need to do cake decorating and its reusable and you can use it many times that comes with the m any tips? Yes, the shopping day I had to get things for the party and was having to look for toothpick flags and the pastry injector bags and the star which I was able to ask about over at Michael's. Meeting Rudy the manager of the store that was able to help me when I had described the things that I had needed he guided to the area that had the many cakes making and the decorating tools. The many selections they have and the helpful suggestions that Rudy had he was able to help with the many selections and some alternatives. The Michael's on Midway drive is one of the best and the size of the store it does look small yet when you walk through the door it does change the size and the length has so much more in stock and selection. With the pricing the and the many types of merchandise they carry you can find many things that are on sale and the many areas of the store have sales finding things for kid's crafts and the crafts for the adults. Michael's is known as one of the greatest art stores it does have a great candy part to it with the cake decorating, they do offer the many chocolates for the meltaway you can cover frozen and the covered fruit for the parties just like they have their own candy isles. Checking out just having to wait a few minutes to be greeted by a great cashier she was able to get me signed up for the shopper's discount and the many updates for the sales updates for the Michael's stores the cashier was the best and helped me and asked if I found all the things that I need. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer, going from one bads stored that had the worst welcome and there were no products coming to Michael's being greeted and welcomed and the store was stocked and well cleaned, and the many Isles and the crafts departments were stocked with merchandise. The great customer service that I had received from the best staff to Rudy and the managers at the Midway Michaels this has been one of the greatest shopping experiences my first time at the store. read more

I am a big crafter around the holidays. I enjoy making various decorations, ornaments and arrangements for gifts and for my home. Michaels has always been one of my go-to places, and this is my local, go-to Micheals. Truthfully, I am not sure what I would do without Michaels, as there just are not that many craft stores around. The store is arranged with seasonal items in front, frames and custom framing in back, and all of the other craft supplies organized in-between. Since we recently passed though Christmas and Valentine's, I have found myself at Micheal's several times. This Micheals is located in a small strip mall just off Pacific Highway, The mall isn't particularly attractive, but there is plenty of easy parking. Inside the store, they have both shopping carts and baskets. I think they usually have a good mix of holiday decorations and supplies. Generally, they have decent selections (but not huge) of most other craft supplies. I feel like since they have lots of different types of supplies, they don't specialize in any one particular type of craft, meaning that the selections are not huge. I do think they do very well with artificial flowers, and scrapbooking items. Things like candy-making, rubber stamps and macrame, are pretty limited. I used the custom framing once, and my item came out very nice, but my order was pretty simple. I would probably go to a custom framing shop for something more complicated. Staff is generally friendly. You are always welcomed at the door, and the cashiers sometimes help me find the right coupons. By the way, always check the website or mobil app for coupons. It helps quite a bit. My biggest complaint about staff is that sometimes I find myself searching for something, and I have difficulty finding someone to ask. All in all, this is a nice place to have nearby in order to get all of my crafting basics. If you specialize in something, you may need to go to a specialty shop, but for a basic crafter like myself, this meets most of my needs. read more

I called in to see if the store had something before just jumping to Amazon (which is clearly the easier thing for me to do), but wanted to support this business. I called and the woman that answered the phone said she'd check the floor for the item and I proceeded to sit on hold for 20 minutes. If I need specific art supplies I'll hit up an art supply store but for a wide range of products at reasonable prices especially when on sale, this is a good spot. I deeply regret using Michael's framing service. My husband was a professional skateboarder back in the day and was published in a Japanese art magazine in 2014. He had one copy of the magazine and the prints are gorgeous. I took the magazine to Michael's on Midway and cut the pages out that I wanted to be framed. One of the pages was glued down on the WRONG side. These prints cannot be reprinted and that image is now gone forever. I was reimbursed for one of the pieces but I am very upset about it. This place is lame. Nothing I'm looking for is stocked and if it is you couldn't tell because the shelving is cluttered and worse than Ross. At best you should wander in for browsing rather than actually needing something. Ask for help? What help? Where? The supervisor walked by to check on the cashier who looked like they were struggling to fix some problem and instead of opening another register, they worked some magic on the struggling cashier's register without acknowledging the not so distanced line forming. Then like an awkward teenager who just left their grandma's garage, they sauntered off never to be seen again. I felt sorry for the cashier. She looked fairly new at the job and barely capable of ringing people up. I waited about 20 minutes behind only 3 people. By the time she got to me, she kept her eyes down the entire time and never greeted me. Her only signal was when she widened her eyes at me. Don't even get me started with how she didn't bother to wrap the small glass vases I bought. I asked her if I could have a bag and she just took a deep breath. Wtf! I'M BUYING GLASS. Fortunately I had a jacket in the car and I was able to nest them without breaking anything. Geez. No wonder the retail industry is dying. I guess ordering is the only way to go. The older lady working at the framing department was incredibly rude. Took a while to get her attention, when she finally did notice me she seemed irritated that I disrupted whatever she was doing in the back. I brought my poster in to get framed, I was not familiar with framing and needed help with measurements and trying to figure out the price of custom framing. Instead of being helpful she very condescendingly remarked that custom framing was well over $100. She didn't want to help me measure it, she only did eventually so she could get me out of her general area it seemed. The framing departments at Michaels back in my hometown have been not only helpful and courteous, but also framed the posters for me. She refused to do any of it, she measured it for me and pretty much told me to bug off and figure the rest out of myself. I get working retail sucks and she may have been busy in the back. But talking down to your customers and being that rude and unhelpful is unacceptable especially when it's your literal job. read more

I just left this store after attempting to buy black matt board and two pictures frames. The frames were advertised as Buy One, Get One Free (see pic attached), but once at the check out the nice woman at the counter was unable to make the discount work. She summoned a gentleman who said that it wasn't really the deal being advertised. I walked him to the shelf where the frames had been displayed, showed him the sign, similar frames and other frames all in that same section. The sign was literally hanging directly above the shelf of the frames I'd chosen! He pointed out that it was only a discount off the original price, as shown in the fine print, however the only, and presumably original, price shown was $19 -- he claimed it was something different (not shown). On June 17, 2023, I had the great pleasure of having Jen/Framing help me with a picture frame. It was not an easy task, as I brought in a framed picture that I wanted to be reproduced with different colored matting. Jen was knowledgeable, personable, and patient, and I could tell from our first meeting that she knew exactly what I wanted and how to accomplish it. She also kept me up to date on the progress of the task, which I so appreciated. When I saw the final picture, it brought tears to my eyes. It was exactly what I wanted and so much more. Simply beautiful, and it will mean so much to my dear friend, as it is gift to her, a poem about her mother who has passed. It is rare, especially these days, to find an employee who is so helpful, kind, and truly wants the customer to be pleased and happy. 5:23pm Monday 1/21/19 The hour and a half my fiancé were in the store it was clear they were highly understaffed. Minus our experience with our cashier (who was a lovely helpful woman, I didn't get her name) our experience was poor. Making the best of your shift when you are understaffed is tough-no question about it, I've been there before! But the rude treatment from the framing employee was just unnecessary. Firstly, we waited about 20 minutes (no exaggeration) behind two customers, one of whom saw the line of 5 people behind her patiently waiting and kept sending the framer back and fourth. My heart went out to him at first, but his lack of acknowledgment of the other customers or the effort to move the customer taking forever along politely was frustrating at least. Typically you can make subtle hints when dealing with someone who is a Time suck such as saying to the other customers, "hello there, I will be with you in just a moment." Instead he just pretended the line of people did not exist. When we finally got our turn after waiting now what was likely 25 minutes, he sighed and muttered, "I guess I'll never get my lunch break." Excuse me? I understand your frustration, but we had been waiting patiently from the beginning and when we finally are able to reach you that is how you great us? Typically I would start with, "Thank you for waiting, what can I do for you?" or "Sorry about that, etc." We clearly saw you were busy and you had our sympathies so to make us feel a burden to you is not okay. My fiancé felt so awkward he asked me if we should even bother but I felt we shouldn't inconvenience his life further (as he clearly had better things to do!!) I understand he likely just wanted his break (fair) but do not make your customers who have been patiently waiting feel like such a burden by sighing and letting them know you're a pain in their ass! Especially when you ignored them and doted on someone else for an uneasily long period of time! More training, more staff, and hopefully a good talking to with this guy. I've always loved coming to Michaels! Today, we came looking for artsy ideas for a baby shower. While they have a lot of random things that are generic to mix and match, they don't have much when it comes to a baby section. I wish they had all the flowers and vines in one section. In this store, they have it in three different sections, so we had to go back and forth to match up items for our color scheme. Good customer service! I would give zero stars if that was possible. As a former resident of this area, I thought I could call the store for help an online ordering since it is in bulk and for my classroom and I am located in Hawaii. I had explained to Betty that I had called the one 800 number and was not given a reply via email like I was told. She transferred me to another associate who did not introduce herself and asked how she could help. I repeated my story and told her I was caught off guard because I did not know I was being transferred to another associate. I would order in bulk for a class project and wanted to know if I could go through the store since the one 800 number did not give me an answer. She told me unfortunately that I would still have to call that number. I asked if I could speak to a manager and she told me she was the manager and still did not give me her name. I asked for her name and it is Gabby. The customer service here is a pourable over the phone and I only hope that those who come into the store are not treated the same way. I finally was able to receive a solid answer from the one 800 number from a more experienced colleague who said they cannot ship in bulk to Hawaii. Meh....What can you say about this place. If they didn't put those coupons in the paper every Sunday or all over the web, this place would be the most over priced dump in all of Del Boca Vista. I had one of my frames damaged and went there to get it replaced and Yada, Yada, Yada, $79 later, I got my picture fixed. I'm sure it's not cheap for these frames, but damn....it just feels sleazy and underhanded the way they 60% off this, and 40% off that, and 50% of this and that. You know the markups are outta control when you see regular discounts with a 40, 50, or 60% attached to them. Unfortunately, as long as you are a guy with a GF, Wife, etc, you will be dragged into these Craft Hell Domes and be forced to breathe in the vile smell of potpourri as if it's being fed into your nose like an IV. On a positive note - Melissa, Melissa, Melissa! She is really awesome! Great customer service, really attentive, and super helpful. One day she'll realize what it's all about and she'll move on to a different company that doesn't make their customers bend over and take it when it comes to paying for a plexi-frame. read more

Maybe it's my fault for coming here during the week before Halloween, and expecting things like customer service or even representatives on the floor. I mean, it's crazy, right? Expecting to be able to find someone if you need help, or getting answers to your craft-related questions? We had to come here twice. The first time, we kind of wandered the store, hoping to find inspiration for my costume idea. We walked the aisles for a good twenty minutes before we found two materials that we thought could work. Then, we spent another fifteen minutes trying to find someone to stock about, since they didn't have enough of said items on the shelf. I kid you not, there was exactly one associate (who happened to be the manager) on the floor. There were two ladies working registers, and that was it. The store was busy - the check-out line was out of control. There were other customers there trying to find someone to help them, as well (I overheard many a grumpy comment while I was playing "Find the Friendly Associate"), but I don't think anybody was successful in finding that much-needed help. In the end, we pounced on one of the register women to get some help, and were summarily told that it's not in her job duty to help those of us on the floor. Basically, she worked the registers, and that's it! Having had enough of that nonsense, we bought what we could and high-tailed it out of there. The next night, we were back, with a better idea of what I needed and a keen desire to return the previous night's purchases, find that night's supplies, purchase and skedaddle in quick succession. However, the lady working the "Customer Service" counter got snippy at me when I asked her where I could return a purchase, and was rude the entire time she was processing my refund. Again, there was a shortage of workers on the floor, and the stock was severely picked over. I'm not exactly a fan of the Michael's chain - I go when I need to, but thank my stars that I don't need to so often - but I remember a time when helpful associates outnumbered the crabby ones, and when you could more often than not find what you were looking for. read more

Went for custom framing and ignored. There was only one person at the framing counter that was helping someone else and I set artwork down and waited. I didn't expect them to stop helping the people who were there before me, but I at least expected him to say "I'll be with you as soon as I can" or something like that to at least acknowledge I was there. I stood there for 15 minutes as other employees walked by and nobody said "are you being helped" or anything. It worked out in the end because I found a much better custom frame shop that was cleaner and had way better customer service. I had $900 in framing that they lost business on by poor customer service. Not to mention this location seems to be in disrepair. There was some loud open trench on the ceiling that looked like it was covered with thin plastic with noise coming from it (air or water being pushed through) over the framing department that looked like an accident waiting to happen. Overall very poor customer service and a building in disrepair. Would not recommend this location. read more

I had gone in on Friday 04/28 made some purchases in the bakery section. There was a special BUY TWO GET 1 FREE of wilton and other bakery items. I spent almost two hours looking and counting out items so I would get the free items accordingly. I also wanted to purchase a $16.99 item and use my 50% coupon for this item. Which the tally items for the special. I got home and looked at receipt to see that the lady used my coupon on my sprinkles which only cost me a dollar without the coupon. Hence saving me a whole 50% on the $1.00 item and not the highest ticket item in my order. I called that day and spoke to a very nice lady name Jess. She told me that I could come in with the receipt and they would fix the prices accordingly. Next day was Saturday, I worked. The next day being Sunday I got there just before closing. I brought my items I bought so they could account for the buy two and 1 free special I bought that Friday. I was greeted by Jess, who remembered I called and directed me to register #2. At register #2, the lady behind the counter her name was Reann. She began to ask me what I was returning and if I had a receipt. I had asked her to put my bag behind the counter upon arrival. I had the receipt in the Ziploc with the sprinkles I bought. Reann wanted me to reach behind the counter and get the receipt out. I asked if she could hand me back my bag because I did not want to reach over the counter. I began to tell her about the special I purchase the items under and that I was trying to return the $16.99 item and get the appropriate 50% off like I had intended. She smacked her teeth and rolled her eyes as I finished explaining. She said well you did receive a discount on the item so she was not sure what more I wanted. Mind you I'm not about to drive 10 miles to save 10 cents. The discount given in first transaction meant a at least $4.00 more then what I would paid with the correct application of the 50% coupon. She then asked me again to repeat what I wanted I repeated myself and told her that I had the complete number of items for the special, it was just that the 50% was applied to a dollar bag of sprinkles and I wanted it applied to that item. AGAIN I had this already explain to Jess just the day previously and this cashier Reann. Another Lady came who turned out to be a manager named Shannon did not greet me and told me very aggressively 'you realize ma'am if you return the item you're free item that you were supposed to receive at the buy two get one free special is no longer free so you will have to give back the free item.' I explained to her I brought all the items and if she counted out the items I would have all the buy two get one free items and this one item which was not one of the part of the special that I was trying to buy. This Shannon, again tried to tell me that I was not complying with the special and the free item I was receiving will not be free anymore if I return this item. I told her three times again I brought the items so they can count them to see I have the "buy two get one free items" and one item would have not been part of that tally. Shannon, then twice more tried to tell me the same jazz about the "buy two get one free" item. I twice more told her please count and look at the items as I had brought everything on the receipt and my tally still complied without the $16.99 item. Both Reann and Shannon continues to roll their eyes and smacked her teeth. As they were ringing me up I told them very politely, "I'm sorry I'm not understanding why you are upset," and that they had made me feel extremely uncomfortable. They continued talking to me to the point that I felt ashamed I was returning something to buy it to get the appropriate discount because it was not applied in the first transaction. They were acting like I was asking for a free item or not paying for the item. I just wanted the correct discount on the correct item. She shrugged her shoulders and then helped Reann ring up me item. I left the store, still upset I called the phone and spoke to Shannon, the store manager once again. I asked her who was her manager or the district manager of the store because her behavior was completely uncalled for. She refused and said I could call the 1-800 number to make a formal complaint. I tried to do the online survey on the receipt but it only allows 1200 characters in the comment section. I actually like this store it's usually clean and well stocked. I would give it let stars if I could, I've never left a bad review before but when the lady is checking you out and then stops to answer the phone while there 5 other employees who could of answered the phone so she could continue helping people get out of there it was ridiculous worst customer service ever. read more

This is my favorite Michaels store! The store is clean and the employees are always so nice and helpful. If you are in need of framing, make sure to ask for Tim! Not only is he extremely nice but his work is impeccable! I had a problem with a custom framing project done at another Michaels location and I came in to see Tim to see if he could help fix it. He redid the project for me right then and there as it was a gift and I needed it the next day and it turned out perfect. Thank you Tim!!
