I love the interaction between management and employees! Their friendly banter is refreshing. The store is clean, well organized and has a plethora craft items, home decor, frames and more! The employees will actually walk you to the aisle and show you the product you've inquired about. Great store, good, plentiful products, nice folks!

    Wait time...15 min.

Tell me why I'm waiting so long? One checker, 10 deep. Two checker, 20 deep! They called for more help that never arrived. The third employee I saw was up front by the registers sorting go backs. (management ?) My wife waited in line while I watched from the side door for more than 15 min. The Marina store never makes this mistake. Just Salinas (more than once ). I've worked in the grocery business for 33yrs. This is so unacceptable on many levels. Last words...corporate meeting?

Went in to look around for some art supplies and ended up having to use the restroom. I went up to the counter and talked to an employee who was not wearing a nametag, who wasn't helping anyone but did need to take what was probably an online order outside. I asked if she could unlock the restroom for me and she said that she would send someone back to do it since she needed to go outside. I said okay and waited. After 10 minutes, I walk back to the front of the store and wait around for an employee. After another 5 minutes or so, the same nameless employee walks back in, avoiding eye contact, so I ask again if she can unlock the bathroom. She says "Well this is why I told you to wait, I had other things to do outside." Why she couldnt have given me the passcode for the bathroom, unlocked it before she went outside, or asked a different employee to do it, I will never know. Either way, an extremely rude employee. I work in customer service too, so I get it, but this was kind of important. Not to mention, when I entered the bathroom, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a decade.

The item I purchased with its original price $35.00

Came to this michaels, found a neat little zombie set in the clearance isle. During purchase I notice there was no discount on the clearance item. I spoke to the cashier and another customer service person and they said it wasn't on clearance...but the sticker on the box said "clearance" and original price was $35.00. Seeing that it's a clearance item and clearance was 75% off the original price I should've received a discount WTH. What kind of sketchy stuff is going on at this michaels location ? Won't be coming again

    DO NOT BUY THESE

PLEASE PLEASE do not buy these two things from here for your planner. They smear and do not stamp correctly. My one star is for their dumb return policy WHICH IS BASICALLY not a return policy. Even tho I did not use one of the items but I did open it to get a clearer view I can't return them after spend $20 on piece of work items. I tried to explain that the stamp ink just smears everywhere and the stamps don't even stamp! and the lady I talked to was rude. You're better off buying items from a place like target or Walmart where you can ACTUALLY return them if they are crap.

I had a great experience here. One of my 2016 goals is to brush up on my creativity, so Michael's was the perfect store. I found a cute photo book along with some cute little planning books. I found a pink mason jar with a straw for my morning smoothies. They have lots of items for your home, crafts, etc. Birdhouses, fake flowers, t-shirt decorating kits, beads, stamps, and so many more fun items. Staff was super helpful. The only thing I didn't find was a world map... Oh well.

Love this store for all my needs, very clean and well organized. Usually it is just a few people on duty every time I've stopped in, so be ready to search the aisles for your item and wait in a long line. The check out is very slow, cashiers are nice and helpful with the electronic coupons but it really just takes a lot of time, Usually only one cashier. Close parking and easy access to the store. They are hiring for the holidays so hopefully it helps. ;)

I was going down to Santa Cruz for a day trip, and bookmarked Yarn Shop Santa Cruz. We drove down and went straight to Yarn Shop SC. Street parking was easy to find. We walked in and immediately saw the sale section. Hallejulah! I didn't know yarn shops had sales. I took home some nice sale yarns as well as some full-priced ones, a sock knitting book, and circular needles. They have a nice selection and service was very helpful. They were busy but friendly and kind and knowledgeable.

They always have an adorable array of buttons, stitch markers, and project bags, in addition to all the gorgeous yarn of course. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Today I felt like I got away with robbery leaving the store because I got like 5 sample sale items that were beautifully knit by staff. When I got home and looked up the yarns they were knitted with I realized I had paid (significantly) less than the cost of the yarns they were made with. The value was truly insane. For example I got an adorable hand-knit cashmere blend hat for $12.50 and the yarn itself would have cost $20 a ball. I don't believe the sample sales happen often, but it's worth stopping in even if they just have their normal selection. Love you Yarn Shop Santa Cruz!

I used to knit a lot, but lost interest a couple years ago, and recently decided to try and get back in to it. When I arrived at Fillory I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed help with anything. I asked for a simple pattern to help ease me back into knitting. The staff member (maybe the owner?) guided me to a table covered in free patterns they were giving away for LYS day and said I should pick one and then they would help me find the right yarn for the pattern. I picked what I hope is an easy shawl pattern and then another staff member led me to the appropriate yarn section. There were so many choices of beautiful yarn I had a hard time deciding. I finally settled on a skein of Malabrigo in variegated shades of blue. I didn't see the needles I needed for the project, but it turned out they had them behind the counter. It was so convenient to be able to buy everything I needed at once. To top it off, they offered to wind my skein right then and there. Usually yarn shops don't offer this service on special days like today when the shop is crowded with customers. Fillory has been around for many years through several owners. They have a large selection of yarn and helpful employees who work hard. There is also a dedicated space for social knitting if you want to drop by to knit with others. They offer a variety of classes, too.

After my trek, Fillory Yarn was like an oasis. I immediately felt welcomed by the coziness of the store (it's very welcoming and inclusive), as well as the very friendly and helpful employees. Multiple said hi and welcomed me in, asking if they could do anything for me or if I needed any assistance. I've only recently begun to get into knitting and I loved their social knitting table! More stores should have that. I live in SF and I suppose SJ stores have more space for that. There were multiple people sitting and knitting and chatting. I also appreciated their sale section! I didn't buy anything from that section, but considered it. I also got a 5% off discount off my first purchase for joining their loyalty program. Everyone was so very helpful and friendly, quite a few employees and they all asked if I needed help. I loved their examples of items that were made with yarns they sold. They have an extensive collection and variety across types of yarn, materials, yarns for different items, books, accessories, and items across different price points--there is something for everyone and anyone, which makes sense. Fiber arts are political and I've been very impressed at how stores and fiber arts communities are welcoming everyone of all backgrounds into the fold. I'm disappointed but not surprised that some Yelp reviews reflect people who don't appreciate that inclusivity.
