This is definitely a one off location. It's connected to the mall but the mall is pretty dead now. I feel like it's smaller than the most locations in which I feel like they generally don't have some of things other stores offer. I especially look for the seasonal diamond art and sometimes jewelry making items. They seem to have 2 checkout counters but i've only seen the closer to the parking lot open vs the mall door register. Line can definitely build up quick. Prices have went up a bit as well and while they offer a rewards program, they offer less/not as good coupons now. read more

It could be this location but overall, I have not had any luck or good experience with Michaels "Curb Side". Why Michaels offer Curb side is beyond me; they never have enough staff scheduled to actually bring out your orders. The first time I sat in my car for 15 minutes, no one came. Then I went in and push the button for service, waited 5-10 minutes no one came. Eventually I just looked for my order and went about my day. It's really frustrating because no one offers to help even though the walk past you, and there's no clear instructions on how to go about picking up your curb side order. The main reason I do curb side is for convenience otherwise I would have just picked it up in the store myself. Anyways, my latest experience was terrible. I never received a confirmation that my order was ready, I had to track my order and found out it was ready for pick up. When I got to the store, I continuously looked for my item. Again, there are no clear instructions, the items are all over and anyone can take anything and go about their day. After looking and looking, there was no one that came by to help. I finally found my name on a carboard, and a piece of paper by it stating "Behind the counter". So now I'm in line, mind you Michaels has switched to mostly self-checkouts which I'm not complaining about, but they should still have registers available to assist customers who cannot or do not prefer to use the self-checkout. There was one person in front of me that has already been with the cashier for about 5 minutes or so. I was the only one in line, it eventually became very busy. I'd say there were about 15 people that bypass me to use the self-checkout, and now there were about 3 other people behind me waiting for the cashier. While I'm waiting, one of the customers needed help with the self-checkout, there was another employee aside from the one cashier who walkie for help. The Cashier said she'll be right there, which made ZERO sense to me. Why couldn't the employee who walkie help the customer, and how does it make sense that I have been waiting and now the cashier is going to help someone knew who came well after me. Luckily another employee clocked in early (I knew this because their conversation was loud enough for me to hear). The employee that clocked in early then switched the current cashier, and the cashier then just went to stand behind the counter to wait to assist anyone that may need help with the self-checkout, even though there was a line of customer waiting to be help. So now you have an employee just waiting while all these customers are also just waiting to be helped. I spent 30 minutes in Michaels trying to do a curb side pick up, how ridiculous does that sound? Granted the extra five minutes was because we needed to wait for the manage to approve a return. I got the wrong color and needed to do an even exchange but the cashier said they could because it messes with the inventory count. I've worked in retail and an even exchange doesn't mess with the inventory count since they have their UPC, but maybe Michaels inventory system is a bit behind... or too advanced? I haven't been in retail for almost 15 years. read more

I'll start by saying that I generally like Michael's, and their coupons make things quite competitively priced. This time, I was not delighted with the price I paid. I am a school teacher, and I pay for many of my own supplies. I use card stock to make name labels for students' desk & this visit was to acquire a few packages of it. There was a sign at the end of the aisle announcing 50% off Recollections brand card stock packages, so I grabbed 3 and headed for the checkout. I did self-checkout and the items rang up at full price. I called an employee over, and she called to the back of the store to find out if these were on sale. When she received a negative reply, she followed me to the site of the sign. The sign which was there 5 minutes prior was now mysteriously missing. The store employee acted as though she had NO IDEA where the sign could have gone. I need to make signs in the morning, so I bought a small pad of lesser-quality paper. I love Michaels! There is literally something for everyone, especially for the creative minds or ones just feeling a little bit more crafty! The staff at this location are overall hmm okay- some were helpful and some are a bit rude and not the most likely, it is just depends. This Michaels is a part of Har Mar Mall so it can get a bit busy on the weekends or during the holidays. There is a parking out front and a nice amount of other stores/food options nearby! Tip: if you come a few days or weeks before a holiday, the holiday items are usually 50% off! Michaels is also my favorite place to get affordable candles and holiday cards. read more

So I'll preface this by saying that craft stores kill my soul. I'll go begrudgingly with my family and try not to complain too much, often with limited success. That said, Michaels in Har Mar is pretty good. Yeah, it's small, but that means fewer or shorter aisles to wander through! It seemed to be organized better than other stores. Sometimes you might find a good buy. Most recently, my spouse found great deals on some journals and pens for her bullet journaling, the fad that keeps on giving with many memories. Our son had a great time testing out pens. He had a bruh moment, as did we all. I've never spent more than 15 minutes in any given stretch here. Take that, JoAnn Fabrics or Hobby Lobby! Plus, it didn't reek of fake cinnamon! That deserves another star! read more

I stopped by Michael's to pick up an online order. This was very convenient. Allowing me to purchase the frames cheaper than buying in-store and didn't have to wait for shipping. This location of Michael's seems much smaller and a bit disorganized. I did shop around a bit and found some fake succulents to decorate with that look real at a decent price (40% off). I typically find quality products, well stocked and fun items that inspire creativity. I like that Michael's always prints a coupon for your next purchase. Helpful and kind employees, just not my favorite location. Prefer the Maplewood location, much bigger and doesn't feel as cramped. read more

First off, if someone can help me understand how things are organized in Michaels stores, that would be great. Maybe it's because I have little understanding of crafty things, but I genuinely am lost every time I go in there. I've had to come here on multiple occasions to purchase supplies for work and have used their website online to check if they have items in stock. 2 of those times they said they had them, and when I came to find them, they didn't have them. Definitely frustrating, and I had to go across town to another store. I would rate them lower, but they have so many coupons. Like if you want to shop at Michaels, you never should have to purchase something full price. Register up front and download the app or get emails with coupons. read more

I'm a pretty big fan of Michaels. I could wander their aisles for hours, waiting for the inspiration to hit me. I usually end up finding way more than I could ever possibly need (or afford) but thankfully they end up having sales on a lot of the stuff I pick up. Their yarn selection isn't half bad, I always find new colors and textures that please me. Their service on the floor is pretty decent, however, I feel like time comes to a screeching halt every time I get in line at the cashier counters. Seriously!! There is always a problem with their credit card machines or some customer is pitching a fit about some kind of sale. I don't know what it is, but I usually spend just as much time in line at the register as I do wandering around the crafty wonderland. Thank god I have a soft spot in my heart for their merchandise. I usually get my framing done at Hobby Lobby, but chose Michaels this time because of the selection of frames. I got the frame added my original photo, and had them dry mount and mat the photo. Sounds easy enough.... I picked it up today with great anticipation figuring I paid 30.00 more for this process then at Hobby Lobby... They opened it and it looked great. I got home and went to hang it and seen a note on the back telling me they do not recommend using wire... WHAT? So first off there was no wire, and the little hangers that were on there were dollar store garbage, I'm used to very rigid strong ones. But I was still puzzled as to why the didn't recommend wire then I noticed that there was no additional backing after the dry mount except the paper. I could not believe it. Usually it's photo, dry mount board, then rigid board, and finally paper. Not at Michaels, they skip the rigid board, and are afraid the center wall hanger will pop through the dry mount board and paper so the " don't recommend" hanging it like the 99% of the world.... Cheap, cheap, cheap, and it was 30.00 more.... Never again.... They lost me... read more

It's a Michael's. They have a ton of craft stuff and that's consistent with any fabric place. I'm going to talk about the framing services. I had an absurdly long painting framed there. You need a coupon, since they mark up and train you to go with a coupon. It turned out ok. The cost was cheap and the framing was cheap. When you're in a bind and need something framed for a show or just preserved, it's an option. I saw the work on paper warp and won't be back. I'll likely have to reframe it in the future. I was told it'd be fine. I've worked in a museum. I know what will happen and I'm prepared for it. They also only insure art up to $250. So, if you have an expensive piece, don't go here. The risk is just too high. read more

The key to Michaels is coupons. I end up buying a lot of frames here. If you have a coupon, you can score a frame for much less than a similar frame costs at Target or the like. That's the good news. The bad news is the checkout process: it takes forever. There's always a line, and the line always moves slowly. You have been warned. read more

I love art supplies, all sorts of them. Today I'm working on a project to make a chalk board sign for my son's school. Yesterday I had purchased materials to make the physical structure of the sign. Today I stopped by to purchase markers to make the graphics. But first while I was out and about, I called Michael's to check a)did they have them and b) how much did they cost? This was not a pleasant task. It took 3 calls and 25 minutes of my time to get an answer that was actually not even correct. The first call, they hung up rather than transferring me. The second call, I got someone who came back on the line and said "sidewalk chalk is $1.99 a bucket". Me "That's nice, and it is not what I asked about. I asked about chalk ink markets." "Oh" click, dead phone. Finally 3rd try "yes we have them and they are $12.99 per marker." They sell them in sets of 4, but the person who finally answered the question said the price was per marker. So, I found far less expensive ones a few doors down at the big box office supply store. I stopped by Michael's and yesterday they'd given me a coupon for 40% off of one item and there was a specialty color I had in mind that the office supply did not have. So I go find the markers see that they were $12.99 for sets of 4 choose what I want, go to check out. Oh so, sorry that 40%off coupon that in big bold letters says it is good until October 5, had significantly smaller type that said, oh but you cannot use it until next week. Come on, first please work on your customer service and also, please make your coupons more legible. Rant over! read more

I love this store overall very clean store pretty courteous staff. Giving 3 stars because I came here two weeks ago to purchase some artificial flowers for a wreath. Every staff member I've encountered here has been great especially the cashiers until this day. The gal stocking the flowers literally told me to get out of the aisle because she was busy stocking and I was in her way. First off she did not ask nicely she was extremely rude to the point my boyfriend was appalled and suggested we just leave. I am a store manager this is horrible customer service and not something anyone in management at Michaels would approve of. You never ever tell a customer that! You stock your items away in a neat manner while allowing customers to shop. I was barley in her way and quite honestly she was blocking most of the aisle with boxes and carts everywhere on a Saturday around noon it was pretty inconsiderate and had I been her manager I would have written her up. read more

I've gone to Michaels mostly for yarn, though I have bought other crafting supplies and art supplies from them before. For most crafting projects, their prices are very good. I don't think their art supply prices are very good, however. I find them to be a bit pricier there than a dedicated art supply store is, and probably with reason. Mainly, I go to Michaels for yarn or knitting/crocheting notions. Up until recently they had yarns I liked and was happy to purchase from them. But after their reorganization of their yarn aisle, I'm not so happy anymore. They've stopped stocking some of the yarns I went to them for in the first place, so there's little reason to visit them very often now. I've never had any trouble from their staff, though I can't say they've ever been friendly to me, either. I've gotten a few hellos from them, but they don't ask me if I need help or anything. Which, generally, is really okay with me. But I know it's a turn off to other people. read more

I had a very poor experience at this Michael's store yesterday. The store was busy with customers but not a store representative in sight other than the young fellow who was working the checkout. I had been looking all over the store for twine. A very long time and was getting a little annoyed that I could not find anyone to help me. Not one person was working the floor. I did stop one gal that was rushing by. She did not have a Michael's name tag on. I asked her if she worked here. She said yes but I can't help you I am on my lunch break. I was shocked. I asked her where the twine was. Check aisle 2 as she walked away. (Instead of this gal with long dark hair going into detail why she wouldn't help me she could have pointed me in the direction of the twine was with less words) Very very poor customer service. There was older gal who I say in the back who was not interested in helping anyone.. I got to the checkout, there was at least 11 people in line. The young fellow was asking for backup via intercom TWICE was ignored. I will not shop the Har Mar location AGAIN... I will drive to the Quarry which is not in my neighborhood. Terrible experience. I have been here multiple times to buy various things. Although they have a fairly nice selection of yarn and other craft supplies, the staff makes any experience you might have miserable. They seem to be everywhere, but the second you need help with something, it's like you are the only one in the store. Most of my visits end in disappointment after walking around the store in circles looking for an item that isn't where it should be. I would steer clear of this store unless you don't mind feeling like you don't exist! read more
