I'm a crafter/hoarder and I was in the neighborhood, so I stopped in. I'm going to need to go back…read morebetter prepared next time... That is to say, I should've brought my own small containers and cash. There were a few things I might've taken home with me if I'd had a good way to hold them and pay for them. (It's a $1 fee for credit/debit under $10 purchase, which... getting above $10 here is actually something that would take genuine effort, lol.) While I was there on a Thursday afternoon, it was quite bustling with people scrounging about. I overheard a lot of chatter from those who are regulars who come in once a week to see what's new to choose from. My guess is there's likely a lot of turnover in what's available, since it all comes from donations. I could probably stand to bring them some stuff I have that's been lying around and not being used. This is not a large shop, but it's packed with all sorts of stuff. Honestly, you kind of just have to go there to experience it. But I tried to take some photos of the kind of stuff you MIGHT see there to give you an idea. For example, I certainly wasn't expecting to see a 55 gallon drum of tennis balls or bottle caps. But there they were! You'll need to parallel park on the street as there is not a lot that I saw, but the good news is that parking seemed to be ample as it's a mostly residential area. They do have a bathroom for customers if you need.

I usually buy Golden Acrylics (always 40% off), brushes, gouache (80% off now), watercolor paper, pads and color pencils. Also have found usual finds like a protractor that fits on a wood yard stick to make huge circles! Their specialty is screen printing and one of their employees wrote a guide on the subject- although I don't do it- I enjoy seeing the wall of customer's prints along with art from the employees who are artists too. Can't tell you how much I enjoy coming in and talking to the helpful, caring, friendly staff! Living in the neighborhood- I walk in there with my dog- how nice. They are VERY MUCH in business- may look empty in spots as they are remodeling and moving supplies around- have fabulous sales going on. So important to shop independent businesses rather than just online- supports the neighbors/neighborhood. Look for their fabulous vintage sign- especially pretty at night! Thanks Northwest Graphics!

The store has plenty for artists from every walk of life but there is one big issue. This review is…read morewritten from the perspective of an older disabled adult. Little thought was given to the consequences of crowding the aisles with product displays making the store difficult for someone with mobility challenges. I dropped a few brushes (which I did buy) and because it is difficult for me to bend that far I cried out for help several times using my announcer voice. Everyone in the store would have to hear this unless they were wearing headphones. No one responded. After waiting a bit I struggled to get the items off the ground. Finally someone came but it was too late. She stood directly in front of me preventing me from reaching the register. People in general have no awareness of disability. The employee who rang me up obviously didn't know how to have a short friendly chat. It made me feel unwelcome, as if I were disturbing her somehow. I have a long retail history and can't imagine why someone would treat a customer that way. It's unfriendly. She was capable of the simplest basics of operating a register. Unkind. Luckily I don't need to visit often.

Wowee zowee, I haven't been in a fine art store this extensive and specialized since I was…read moreliterally in college taking fine art courses and had to buy supplies from the campus store. I came here because I needed a replacement Micron 005 pen, which is a favorite among artists. I'd checked online and saw they carried them (as did Michael's, but I'm looking to vote with my dollars and spend more appropriately), but elsewise wasn't sure what to expect on my visit. I was pleasantly surprised and I am certain I will be back in the future for projects I have planned. There's stuff here that you just won't find at any big box craft store. That said, this store caters primarily to painters and drawers. This isn't a store to get kid's art supplies; it's a place for adult artists to shop. Canvases (reasonably priced) in a multitude of dimensions (some taller than I am), a staggering assortment of oil paints, paint pens, acrylic leather paint (designed to flex), a massive number of Copics, pastels/charcoal/conte crayon, Sculpey, watercolor supplies including Arches large format single sheets, huge selection of high quality spray paints, canvas sold by the yard on rollers, resin making supplies (including face masks/goggles), gloss glazes for your ceramic firing projects, mechanical pencil leads in every gauge and hardness you could desire, journals/sketchbooks, storage and easels, impulse items like stickers/greeting cards/candy towards the registers, a massive custom framing counter and a canvas stretching counter as well. The employees were all friendly and eager to help. I got asked while I was browsing if I needed any help finding anything. (I did actually need help finding the Microns but my goofy butt auto responded I was just having fun looking... which I was, but LOL I could've also used the help. I'm just so used to turning down assistance.) There's bathrooms in the back if you have need. They are gender neutral, hooray! Nothing fancy, but all functional and clean enough. The surface parking lot is a bit small (and many of the spaces are 30 minute maximum), but there's also plenty of garages nearby as well. It was pretty busy when I was there on a Friday afternoon!

And I was pleasantly surprised that the staff at the custom framing area were happy to help me choose the best premade frame for the art I brought and the room where I would display the frames. Five-star service for the frames department. The frames seemed to be better quality (construction, ease of hanging, packaging) than comparably priced inexpensive frames in nearby stores. After that, the self-serve checkout experience was a bit of a letdown. The person behind the counter didn't even say hi. I could see it was self-serve, but the contrast was a bit jarring. This was my first visit to Michaels in a long time. I had avoided Michaels in recent years because the selection and service seems to have gone downhill since my first visit in the 1990s. But after today's experience with the frame department, I'll go back if I'm in the area.

I especially look for the seasonal diamond art and sometimes jewelry making items. They seem to have 2 checkout counters but i've only seen the closer to the parking lot open vs the mall door register. Line can definitely build up quick. Prices have went up a bit as well and while they offer a rewards program, they offer less/not as good coupons now.
