I thought this would be a great place to host a birthday party for my video game addicted, computer programming cousin, who is in college. I was right! He an all of us could let our inner geek flag fly without judgement. Upon looking at the wall of games, I was shocked at how many there really were. I honestly had only heard of or played a handful of them. So, we just randomly went with Code names. The 6 of us had an amazing time playing this game! After the first round, we ordered food and drinks. The beer selection while limited, is at least local (Surly)! Sadly, my food was weak. The fantasy grilled cheese was missing the main ingredient, cheese. However, it was smeared with plenty of aioli, which looked and tasted more like pure mayo. If you like a game, it is an option to purchase most of them in the store. Definitely give this place a try, it's FREE!

This place is so cool! Set in Roseville it's where all the gamers, would be gamers, board players and nerds go to geek out and have some fun. I love it! For those unfamiliar it's a free space to play almost any board game known to humans FoR FREE. That never happens. They offer games to buy, but this is really just a large meeting space for folks to play in. I went here for a YNPN board event and it was fantastic to connect in a completely different venue. Our group definitely had more women and pocs compared to the usual clientele but it didn't matter, all games were open for playing and we set ourselves up at four tables. I played Settlers of Catan, but all three other tables played something different. Some of the cards and boards will be worn but none of the pieces were missing which was nice. FOOD They have an alright menu with a few vegetarian items to buy along with beer, cider etc. While there I ordered the Mac and cheese which didn't have a lot of flavor nor was it warm when I got it. Pretty big no-no when you offer food for purchase, and it makes me wonder about their other vegetarian items. I spoke to the GM and he mentioned a revamp of the food menu was in the works so I'll be interested to see what they change. OVERALL This is a great spot of you want to get some friends together and go play games. There are all levels of seriousness so you won't feel out of place of you want to stick with 'Cards Against Humanity'. The food is decent, probably better if you eat meat, and the bathrooms and tables are pretty clean. The parking lot fills up fast so I suggest carpooling, and make sure you go to the bigger building which actually houses the community room. The smaller building houses the actual business. No fun and games over there.

I love this place. If you like board games, card games, or people, you'll love this place. They have a massive collection games for sale, and they literally make some of the games across the street at their warehouse / studio. The best part is the huge library of games that you can actually play in store for free. They even have a kitchen, and while the food isn't particularly fabulous, it's a nice touch. Oh, you want to drink? They also have beer on tap. This place is awesome.

A large, yet cozy vibe game/comic shop! The very first thing I noticed on entry was the big…read moreProgress Pride flag hanging from the rafters-- immediately I knew I was among my people: the queer and nerdy! Approximately half the store is dedicated to various reading materials like comics, manga, and fiction. The other half is board games, RPGs, and supplies for said games (like mini figs and paints, dice, etc.). Throughout the store you'll also find toys, posters, collectibles, comic/trading card storage, and more. There's a lot to look at, so if you've never been, I recommend giving yourself at least an hour to browse around. This game shop also doubles as a community gathering and event space. There's lots of room and tables/chairs in the back to accommodate gamers who want to come in and play or hang and be social. I'm sure they have many specific goings-on each week (for example, I saw a sign advertising mini fig painting every Monday evening!); you can check out their event calendar on their website. There was also a gender ambivalent restroom and water fountain/water bottle refill station nearby. Some beverages were available for sale near the front. It is also quite obviously a safe space, as I saw in addition to the hanging pride flag an entire section dedicated to queer and trans materials, and an end cap as well for POC and disabled folk. I can't say how much it means to me as a trans person to see this kind of representation clearly on display during a challenging political time. I hadn't gone with the intention of buying anything (isn't that typical? lol) but to be honest, when I saw the queer support they were displaying, I wanted to support them back. It wasn't hard to find a couple things I wanted in order to give them my financial business. If you too prioritize supporting local queer businesses, consider buying from here! I normally wouldn't have been up this far north from where I live, but I was headed to a Yelp Elite event a little early and decided to see what else was in the area. So glad I stopped in here! I'll be back!

The staff was very helpful in helping me find a gift and give me some suggestions of games based on others I like. Overall, I would recommend this store if you enjoy these activities.

I just watched a clerk trying to browbeat a customer into signing up for the GS rewards program…read more The poor guy just wanted to buy his stuff and go but the clerk would not let it go, even as other customers waited in line. Terrible service!

The first example that comes to mind, I stopped in to pick up a copy of Destiny. It had been out a couple years, I think, at that point but I wanted to finally check it out. When I brought it up to the cashier, he made some weird, loud point of asking if I was aware that the game was a couple years old and there may not be players online to play with anymore. Just really odd, aggressive behavior towards a paying customer. Brought the game home and played it without any issues (so I'm not sure what he was going on about). So, note to the store, maybe don't carry an old game if you're going to be yelling at your customers for buying it. The second example, I brought a few old consoles there to trade-in. Glancing at the consoles, the cashier immediately informed me that I wouldn't be able to trade one of them in because it was the same model as one of the other consoles (presumably because it was also black). I informed her that it was actually a different model, after which she relented. (Apparently, you can't trade-in multiples of the same model in one day.) It's been several years since either incident so hopefully this location got its stuff together but it didn't leave a good impression. I'm not sure what type of customers they were used to dealing with but it's not like I came in looking like some hooligan looking to pull a fast one on them. Anyway, your mileage may vary.

This is definitely a one off location. It's connected to the mall but the mall is pretty dead now…read more I feel like it's smaller than the most locations in which I feel like they generally don't have some of things other stores offer. I especially look for the seasonal diamond art and sometimes jewelry making items. They seem to have 2 checkout counters but i've only seen the closer to the parking lot open vs the mall door register. Line can definitely build up quick. Prices have went up a bit as well and while they offer a rewards program, they offer less/not as good coupons now.

It could be this location but overall, I have not had any luck or good experience with Michaels…read more"Curb Side". Why Michaels offer Curb side is beyond me; they never have enough staff scheduled to actually bring out your orders. The first time I sat in my car for 15 minutes, no one came. Then I went in and push the button for service, waited 5-10 minutes no one came. Eventually I just looked for my order and went about my day. It's really frustrating because no one offers to help even though the walk past you, and there's no clear instructions on how to go about picking up your curb side order. The main reason I do curb side is for convenience otherwise I would have just picked it up in the store myself. Anyways, my latest experience was terrible. I never received a confirmation that my order was ready, I had to track my order and found out it was ready for pick up. When I got to the store, I continuously looked for my item. Again, there are no clear instructions, the items are all over and anyone can take anything and go about their day. After looking and looking, there was no one that came by to help. I finally found my name on a carboard, and a piece of paper by it stating "Behind the counter". So now I'm in line, mind you Michaels has switched to mostly self-checkouts which I'm not complaining about, but they should still have registers available to assist customers who cannot or do not prefer to use the self-checkout. There was one person in front of me that has already been with the cashier for about 5 minutes or so. I was the only one in line, it eventually became very busy. I'd say there were about 15 people that bypass me to use the self-checkout, and now there were about 3 other people behind me waiting for the cashier. While I'm waiting, one of the customers needed help with the self-checkout, there was another employee aside from the one cashier who walkie for help. The Cashier said she'll be right there, which made ZERO sense to me. Why couldn't the employee who walkie help the customer, and how does it make sense that I have been waiting and now the cashier is going to help someone knew who came well after me. Luckily another employee clocked in early (I knew this because their conversation was loud enough for me to hear). The employee that clocked in early then switched the current cashier, and the cashier then just went to stand behind the counter to wait to assist anyone that may need help with the self-checkout, even though there was a line of customer waiting to be help. So now you have an employee just waiting while all these customers are also just waiting to be helped. I spent 30 minutes in Michaels trying to do a curb side pick up, how ridiculous does that sound? Granted the extra five minutes was because we needed to wait for the manage to approve a return. I got the wrong color and needed to do an even exchange but the cashier said they could because it messes with the inventory count. I've worked in retail and an even exchange doesn't mess with the inventory count since they have their UPC, but maybe Michaels inventory system is a bit behind... or too advanced? I haven't been in retail for almost 15 years.
