Something about these reviews smells fishy. Some people get "great" customer service and others get "terrible" customer service? It sounds like the crew at Dick's are just not treating us all the same. What do they do? Size you up when you walk in and decide if you're "worth" serving based on looks?? Well I know I'm ugly so I shouldn't be surprised when the service is, to quote joaquin Phoenix in "Joker"-- AWFUL. I asked about "disposable" brushes. Since then I've learned "how" to ask about this item. It's called a "parts brush" or "acid brush." It's a very common item and can be found, I guess, in auto parts stores. But it would make sense if these "disposable" brushes were sold in packs of a dozen (or whatever) in an art supply store. Not that it means anything. Anyway, the guy, who was SWEEPING THE FLOOR (not a job most people are reluctant to leave) and he says "Well, technically, they're all disposable," and he keeps on sweeping... Didn't I see this in a movie??? Ugly people, don't let the sun go down on you at Dick's. Also, be ready to defend your choices. Life choices. Art choices. This is Dick's. You are a peasant. They have any kind of material you could be looking for and at a variety of qualities depending on if you are a beginner or casual artist (like me) or more of a dedicated and experienced one. If you go with something specific in mind you'll find it. If not, you'll likely find several things that spark your interest and creativity and might walk out with some new art supplies. read more

I really like Blick -- they have really fun stores where I always find the item I'm looking for and something I wasn't expecting but think is too cool not to buy. I also like that they are not stocked with shelves from ceiling to floor -- much more made for real people who want to browse and enjoy their shopping experience. This particular store is kind of tucked away off the service road (you kind of have to know the trick to get back to that part of the shopping center -- look for the sign to the access road!). But it's worth the trip definitely. On my latest visit, I discovered they have a loyalty club/card that gets you 10% off regularly priced items all the time and email offers, etc. Good to sign up for if you are going to shop there with any kind of regularity. read more

Some may find it annoying but I found helpful the fact that I was in the space barely 3 seconds and I was asked if I could be helped. That type of service has faded in many of the larger stores and chains such as Blick's. For the serious, not so serious, dabbler or wanna-be Blick's has the items easily categorized with a wide selection of prices and materials. There isn't even an acrylic smell in the air that used to be present in another small shop long since out of the scene. No eye-rolling beret-wearing clerks in a Hemp Dahlia just those who know how to help you find what you want without trying to get you to buy memberships and cards and a basketful of nonessential items. You will need to squeeze your vehicle into a limited number of spaces shared by more businesses in this cramped area. read more

So, I've been visiting this store for a decade and it's still the worst. If I can get it at Wet Paint in Saint Paul I will, but this store is close to my studio so I'll visit in a pinch. I just feel like the staff here are always blissfullly ill-informed on the artmaking process and what materials they're even selling. The costumer service here is superficial and slow. The products they sell are often out of stock. It seems they'd rather be a craft store than an art supply store. And the prices, don't get me started on the prices, though some of that is reflective of all art supplies. I'll continue to shop at Blick online (great selection) and in store (location convenience), but I hate going in here, which is too bad. read more

I ordered some paint supplies for a date night and having named my order as such, the employees at the Roseville Blick went the extra step of cutting out and taping hearts all over the items I purchased. We were both very appreciative of how thoughtful it was. I was also grateful for how easy they made curbside pick up. Definitely looking forward to shopping there again. read more

I think this location is pretty great. I can always get the supplies I need and the employees are really so helpful. It's large and very well lit. I should've checked Yelp first, to manage my expectations of the customer service at this store. I was looking for something I'd found on their website. I wasn't successful in locating it myself, so I asked a staff member for assistance. Without ever looking, he simply said "no, we don't have that". I pressed him a bit and he reluctantly walked me down an aisle to look around. No luck. I told him a few more details I remembered - including the online price. He said, "yeah we don't have that...and even if we did, it would be considerably more expensive in store." At that point, I decided I'd just browse the store and maybe find something else since I couldn't have the item I wanted. After a few minutes of browsing, I found the exact item I had found online...and for the exact same price. Duh. One other observation: their selection of sketchbooks sucked pretty bad. read more

I am disabled and i am trying desparately to keep painting. I need a drafting table or easel that allows me to work with my arms at a lower angle. I saw a table top easel that seemed to allow the work surface to drop below the table height. The demo was up on a high shelf. I asked one of the staff if she could take it off the shelf so i could look at it closer. She said "No i cant." And walked away. I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 because in a weird way she did me a favor. I went home and found another set up online that was much better and cost less then the exact same model i saw in the Blick store. It has free delivery and shipping. I won't be shopping at Roseville Blick again. read more

I was surprised to see the low rating that this location currently has! But perhaps there are so few reviews from so long ago... so here is an updated positive one! I have been here about 4 times in the last couple of months and have always had an enjoyable experience. I usually am here during first shift (before 3pm). When I am in the aisles, someone usually kindly asks if I need any assistance. My coupons and the sales have always been honored at the register. They often have demo days on-site, and though I have never been to one, the employee(s) who mention it have always sounded enthusiastic and passionate about hosting them. I have found that they are usually a lot cheaper than Michael's. For example, I got their paper pads (watercolor, multimedia, acrylic etc) for half the price of Michaels', before sale. Blick distributes coupons and have decent sales frequently. Last week I got 70% off Blick brushes and was rewarded a free sketchbook, and today I got 40% off a paint set with a coupon! read more

The store is fine as long as you never need to make a return for something that Dick Blick screwed up. Most places apologize and make things right but this store will throw up their hands and say not that it's not their problem because it's corporates fault. With any other store on the planet you can order online and be able to go into the physical store and have something fixed. Especially when online told you that it is possible. I buy thousands of dollars worth of supplies from them each year but I think not anymore. read more

I have never had any trouble with service at this store. The staff has always greeted me as I walked in the door and offered to help me with anything if I needed it. The selection of materials I tend to use is very good at this store. My favored media is Prismacolor markers and pencils, and their selection of these is great. I'm never disappointed. I also pick up my sketching supplies here. I see no reason to shop anywhere else for my art supply needs. This store offers me everything I need at fair prices. read more

Really enjoy this art supplier. I have been to this location as well as the Edina and Chicago stores. I haven't entered the store yet and not been offered assistance. When I have asked questions about products the staff is either knowledgeable or takes the time to find the answers. The products are good quality and have always been in stock when I've been shopping. The prices are very good and as has been mentioned, they offer great coupons. I've given it 5 stars as they have yet to disappoint(well, except for the parking at the Edina location! It's pretty tough to park near the store). I visit often enough and will update my review if needed in this coming year. read more

Very poor customer service. I went in looking for a bottle of gum arabic and asked the associate for help. You could tell he had no idea what I was talking about. I understand that the store has thousands of products, but gum arabic is a pretty basic art supply. He took me over to fabric paints and when I told it wasn't a paint he asked me what it was. My reply was a binding agent for paint and other painting mediums. Again you could tell it was way over his head. Finally the cashier heard me and found it. I decided to get it at Michaels since is was so over priced. I then went to the cashier to place a special order since I was told several times before that they could provide this service. I was told by the cashier to go home and use the web. I will be taking my future business to Wet Paint. read more

I wouldn't listen to these chumps. The service I got here was great! Some nice girl, around my age, greeted me at the door right when I walked in. She asked me if I needed help finding anything ok, I asked about acrylic paint since I didn't know too much about the brands. She showed me the aisle and how the price system worked with the different series. She was very engaging in my project and asked lots of questions to help me find exactly what I needed. I continued to the checkout where there was a young guy. He asked if I had their discount card, told me about it and since I'm a student I got 10% off! for FREE, woo hoo!! I did some research before I actually got in the car and since their prices were already lower than Wet Paint and Utrecht I don't think I'd go anywhere else. It may have been because these other reviews were so long ago, but I honestly don't think that any of those people work there anymore. It really doesn't match up to my experience. Complete 180 turn for the good. Also beautiful store, very clean and organized. It is wheelchair accessible though. I'm not sure why it says otherwise... All in all, I highly suggest going out of your way to Roseville, the service is excellent and the prices are unbelievable!! read more

I tried to return an item i bought yesterday. but was absolutely refused. The item was opened but It was NOT used or damaged, i had a receipt and it was in the packaging. It was a pencil extender. I make the point that it was not pencils or paint or some other perishable item I would understand that. but this a less than 5 dollar item. She (manager) wouldn't refund it she wouldn't even offer store credit. I wanted to buy another item but I just ended up leaving. after several years of shopping there wont return. So buyer beware especially if you spend large amount of money at that store. read more
