As we walked in there was a community of people playing games and having a great time. We stopped…read moreby to check out the comics and were able to find a few books to add to the collection. They have a large selection of back issues and new releases. If you are looking for graphic novels instead don't worry they've probably got what you are looking for. I do wish they had more $1 books and more expensive wall books, but overall a good amount of inventory to browse through. They also have Funko Pops, Board Games, Magic the Gathering, and other TCGs. This was a very welcoming space and the guy at the counter helped me out with a few questions I had. We will be back!

Y'all KNOW if there's a new game store in town I have to show up to scout out the situation…read more Spoiler alert: this one is a WIN. R - Really cool owner. I choose my game shops largely based on interactions with the staff. They can make or break your experience. Mikey was incredibly inviting and upbeat - definitely made us want to come back! O - Opportunity to meet other people that love to game. Rockhopper drew a pretty decent crowd for being open such a short time. Can't wait to see it on a busy day. C - Commander nights on Saturdays and Tuesdays starting at 4pm. Most places start later and make it tough to work into your schedule. This is a huge win for me. K - Knowledge. There is nothing worse than a game store owner that knows nothing about games. Mikey had all the information pertaining to games, sets, scheduling, and his clientele. He's a real one. H - Hangover commander. Yes. Sundays are the day for hangover commander, D&D, and whatever else people are feeling like after a rough Saturday night. We love to see it. O - Open to everyone. As they should be. Happy Pride Month! P - Penguin theme. Self explanatory. P - Pretty good selection of comics, singles, board games, and other various game related items. E - Environment. The location and the vibe were very cool to us. It's nice to have a gaming location outside of the cities that is doing everything right! R - Raffles. Always fun. To conclude: we were pumped to find this spot. I'm curious to see how they'll handle busy times as it's a bit on the smaller side - but I imagine they'll have it all figured out. If I can order singles to this store - it's game over. Go check it out!

Do NOT try and sell this place any cards whatsoever. Came in with a decent amount of Pokémon…read morecards--expecting it to take a few days for them to go through it all but hoping they could maybe pay out a small amount for some higher value singles. Wasn't a deal breaker but seemed a reasonable request. The collection was well organized and labeled and in really good condition--not just thrown into a bin or binder. The person told me they could go through all of it right then within 15-20 minutes because "it was just all bulk". It was absolutely not all bulk cards but ok I thought whatever let's see what they offer. After waiting over an hour, they offered me $35 for all of the cards. Um yeah absolutely not. Went to a different store, waited a few days and got offered $170 AND got almost half of the cards back. I had had a positive experience here previous but that price differential is just completely insane and unacceptable and I would hate for this to happen to someone else who really needs the extra cash. Go to Dreamer's Vault on Hiawatha to sell your cards--don't waste your time here!!

A large, yet cozy vibe game/comic shop! The very first thing I noticed on entry was the big…read moreProgress Pride flag hanging from the rafters-- immediately I knew I was among my people: the queer and nerdy! Approximately half the store is dedicated to various reading materials like comics, manga, and fiction. The other half is board games, RPGs, and supplies for said games (like mini figs and paints, dice, etc.). Throughout the store you'll also find toys, posters, collectibles, comic/trading card storage, and more. There's a lot to look at, so if you've never been, I recommend giving yourself at least an hour to browse around. This game shop also doubles as a community gathering and event space. There's lots of room and tables/chairs in the back to accommodate gamers who want to come in and play or hang and be social. I'm sure they have many specific goings-on each week (for example, I saw a sign advertising mini fig painting every Monday evening!); you can check out their event calendar on their website. There was also a gender ambivalent restroom and water fountain/water bottle refill station nearby. Some beverages were available for sale near the front. It is also quite obviously a safe space, as I saw in addition to the hanging pride flag an entire section dedicated to queer and trans materials, and an end cap as well for POC and disabled folk. I can't say how much it means to me as a trans person to see this kind of representation clearly on display during a challenging political time. I hadn't gone with the intention of buying anything (isn't that typical? lol) but to be honest, when I saw the queer support they were displaying, I wanted to support them back. It wasn't hard to find a couple things I wanted in order to give them my financial business. If you too prioritize supporting local queer businesses, consider buying from here! I normally wouldn't have been up this far north from where I live, but I was headed to a Yelp Elite event a little early and decided to see what else was in the area. So glad I stopped in here! I'll be back!

The staff was very helpful in helping me find a gift and give me some suggestions of games based on others I like. Overall, I would recommend this store if you enjoy these activities.

I visit Minneapolis regularly from the East Coast, and a visit that doesn't include Moon Palace is…read morea substandard visit. Any new book that I hear about and want to buy, they invariably have in stock, alongside a wonderful selection of titles I may not have realized existed. They're the kind of place that gets me excited about the world, even if they also remind me there will never be enough time to read everything I want to. I've been to a ton of independent bookstores in the Twin Cities, and Moon Palace is the best. Heck, I've been to a ton of bookstores in a lot of cities, and if Moon Palace isn't the best anywhere, I can't think of one better right now.

This place is really cute and STACKED with books, puzzles, board games, and journals. The downside…read moreis that it can be difficult to navigate. I gathered that the goal is for it to feel like a scavenger hunt, and that you may find some unexpected treasures along the way, but my group found it kind of frustrating as it made it difficult to navigate. I'm a fan of the way bookstores and libraries are already laid out and didn't feel like that needed to be changed. The staff was lovely and kind though! I would return to explore their puzzles more, and did stumble upon a book by a favorite author, so all in all left happy. If you're a person who's open to the adventure of just exploring and being curious about what you may find, this could be a great place to visit!
