They also had a large area devoted to comics in the front of the store. If you seek used or rare books, this is the top choice to come in the area. The door is locked and you need staff to let you inside the store. There is a shared parking lot behind the store, which was very much appreciated.

I excitedly told the fellow of my prior conversation. I was met with "She shouldn't have sent you over, there is a lot of places that it could be!" I didn't tell him "she wasn't stopping me". Feeling a bit defeated I had a seat while he looked for the dvd.... as I began to worry if I would have to change my noon oil change appointment? There he stood in front of me, holding out the dvd for me to take, as he said "here it is". I let him know "you are my hero!". Proceeded to the checkout where I told that cashier "he is my hero". She politely said "I hope you enjoy the movie!" So 10 minutes, $2.16 and two lovely employees later I was out the door. Thank you Half Price Books St Paul!! Day? Made!

Moved to California 30+ years ago and every time I'm in town I gotta take a peek and do that whole nostalgia trip in my head-if only the walls could talk, OH MY! I love the creaking floors as you walk across the showroom remembering those sounds heard in the basement packing my own orders to ensure in stock items were shipped. The cast of characters that visited and cool musicians- one day Devo came popping through handing out 3-D buttons with those flower pot looking things on their heads and strange jumpsuits. "It's not too late To whip it Into shape Shape it up Get straight Go forward Move ahead" This trip, my daughter and her fiancé came through-my daughter wore my old Electric Fetus company jacket. Old school blue satin-like with my name, embroidered and a beautiful logo with pussy willows or something embroidered on the back. True classic. The nice staff was very friendly and enamored with the jacket and the manager took some pictures which gave my daughter a huge tickle. I think the cat's name is Bob Fuchs and he's been there since the late '80s and a good ambassador of the brand and so kind to indulge us.

I'm a fan of the way bookstores and libraries are already laid out and didn't feel like that needed to be changed. The staff was lovely and kind though! I would return to explore their puzzles more, and did stumble upon a book by a favorite author, so all in all left happy. If you're a person who's open to the adventure of just exploring and being curious about what you may find, this could be a great place to visit!

Asked the store owner/lady DJing if she could just bring the speakers inside and/or turn it down and got an extremely hostile reaction. I don't like bashing businesses but we are a community and when someone asks politely to not blast your music through concert speakers with your doors open you'd think that would be understandable. She's says she needs to get people in, perhaps just a better selection or different advertising instead of forcing the entire neighborhood to listen to your music for 10 hours a day? Really sucks....

There were so many books I wanted to take home. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. She asked what I was looking for and made me feel completely at ease. I ended up buying one of my favorites, Children of the World. I believe this is a newer edition, which made me like the store even more. It's a lovely bookstore with a strong mix of fiction, non-fiction, and international titles. I really enjoyed my visit and plan to come back again.
