I'm incredibly disappointed and honestly heartbroken over an experience I recently had with Hub Hobby regarding my Traxxas T-Maxx/X-Maxx RC truck. I dropped the truck off for repair, and while I understood repairs can sometimes take a while, the process took a very long time. Eventually, I received one phone call letting me know the repair had been completed. Unfortunately, after 90 days of not picking it up, I later learned that the truck had been surrendered. What's hardest for me to understand is that I never received a second phone call, voicemail, warning, or any kind of notice that my truck was about to be surrendered. Not one. What makes this especially frustrating is that over the years I've received numerous phone calls from the store over much smaller things -- special-ordered parts, minor items, and other routine pickups. So it's difficult for me to understand why there wasn't more effort made to contact me over something worth nearly $2,000 and carrying so much personal value. This hobby store means a lot to me personally. My late father used to take me there when I was younger, and some of my best memories with him came from spending time there together. These days, I love bringing my own two children there and sharing the same hobby with them. That's why this situation feels so devastating. It wasn't just an RC truck to me. It represented years of memories, time, money, and something meaningful I shared across generations of my family. I understand businesses have policies, and I'm not trying to attack anyone personally. I just truly wish more effort had been made before permanently surrendering something that clearly meant so much to a longtime customer. I got such a kick out of picking out a new Spincopter and as my parents always remind me now - I was completely captivated for what felt like hours by those incredible model railroad displays in the store. Its just one of those places that really has a sense of wonder to it - a place that genuinely sparks your imagination with absolutely everything they have on offer - from high-flying drones and intricate models to just the most adorable little stuffed animals you've ever seen. Even as my interests changed and evolved, Hub Hobby Center has always been a place that brought me joy. My visits took on a different feel after the pandemic - I remember the fun I have had with my mom on trips to hunt for the most ridiculous looking plushies - we'd find these super unique and quirky stuffed friends that just perfectly matched our mood. And that pretty much sums it up - the amazing abundance of everything they have on offer at Hub Hobby Center - from the serious stuff - drones, model railroads etc. - to the silly stuff - cuddly companions & craft supplies - they really do have something for every age and every interest. Even though I've moved about 20 minutes away now, I still feel the pull of Hub Hobby pretty strongly. I still make the occasional trip out there with my family - a testament to the quality of their inventory, the super friendly atmosphere and the sheer joy it brings. It's more than just a shop - it's a place where childhood dreams actually come true. Especially when it comes to those helicopters! And for anyone looking for a new hobby, a one off gift or just a place to rekindle a sense of wonder and have a great time browsing through all the cool stuff they have - then Hub Hobby Center is honestly a must-visit. This store is one of the best stocked places for scratch building supplies. They've got a huge selection of paints and tools. They've got high end detail supplies that you would normally special order. They've also got a number of sections of the store specializing in things like science and engineering projects for kids, games, puzzles, RC, slot cars like AFX Aurora and others. The model train section is well stocked. There are table top gaming supplies and the various kinds of books that go with them. I found some obscure parts that I wanted for myself and was really surprised that they could be found here. For model builders and gamers, this is a really good place for supplies. read more

Wow!!!! I accidentally found this place and decided to check it out. I thought it was going to be small from looking at it from the outside and once I went through the doors it was HUGE! They have so much inventory of everything you can think of. The shop is well organized and clean. The prices are average but has a large selection. I wish I came here before I finished my Christmas shopping! This place is great, there are so many cool games, crafts and other creative items you can honestly walk around for hours. Even the more helpful fellow gave some incorrect recommendations (rather than providing useful information, they just recommended whatever they had on the wall - and that would not have fit). My go-to Gunpla Shop when I'm in town. They have a massive selection of HG, RG, MG, and even PG. The owner must be well versed in Gunpla, because they only have great kits. They also are well equipped with accessories like water decals, alligator clips, Gundam markers, and even the rare stock of black Tamiya panel wash. The best part? The prices are great! Every kit I pick up and Amazon-cross reference, Hub Hobby is almost ALWAYS cheaper. I don't think Minnesotans understand what a gem this place is; you will never come across a hobby shop who not only has quality in the volume of their inventory, but also incredibly competitive prices. I have been here many times and haven't had a bad experience. They have a good selection of model kits an is always fun going there.

Okay, I am well over 40...I should be mature and productive: i.e. doing my honey-do-list kind of guy or doing our taxes. In actual reality, I can waste times with various things like making model airplanes/cars, setting the train set around the Christmas tree, etc. In other words, I hang around Hub Hobby Center too often. I use my kids as a cover because we(my kids and I) can blow hours and hours looking at every mudane things: model trains, cars, airplanes, puzzles, trinkets, rc cars/boats/helicopters/etc. Essentially this place has everything for your hobby content. Heck my daughter can take 30 minutes decide what color crystal rocks she wanted... I am confident that Hubby Hobby is the most likely the sole source on my future divorce papers... read more

I can't believe I've never stopped in here before. This place is amazing. They have tons of great toys, trains, activity sets, you name it and they probably have it. They have the cheapo made in China toys, but they also have the neat wooden toys, too. I haven't done an item-to-item comparison, but it seems like their prices are cheaper overall than places like Creative Kidstuff. Be careful when you bring kids in here, though, because you may have to drag them out kicking and screaming. I heard at least 2 kids crying about not wanting to leave when we visited. read more

I used to depend on Hub to have everything I needed for any hobby project. Specifically, modeling supplies and RC airplane supplies. Well, they still have great stocks of plastic models and the needed tools and paints, but in the last year they've virtually stopped carrying RC airplane goods and materials. I'm not sure if Hub decided to quit competing with internet retailers here, but there are times when I crash a plane, need parts immediately, and can't wait for the US mail to deliver them. Hub used to bail me out time and again, but now I have to just stock up from the internet and hope that I have what I need when I need it. It's too bad. I'd come in for an RC airplane widget and leave with 5 other items. Now, I just drive by most days. Great little independent hobby shop with something for everyone--trains, r/c (foamies and some old school balsa), drones, planes, helis, boats, toys, games & yo-yos. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I found an ancient Guillows model of the Cessna 150 that I built as a kid some 35 years ago. It was the airplane that I learned to fly, the airplane I instructed in, and the airplane that started a career in aviation for me. Now I'm building it again, with the help of my boys. Just reviewed another hobby store that didn't compare to Hub Hobby, so I should probably profess my love for this place too. If you've got a kid who enjoys model cars/planes/trains, loves science or crafts, or has a school project to do, this is the place to go. They've got just about everything - including a big selection of games and puzzles - so we always find what we need (ok "need" might be a strong word; most of our purchases are to support our nerdy hobbies). The staff is friendly and nearly as nerdy as our family, so that's a big plus. The only downside is that parking can get a bit ugly at really busy times, like just before Christmas. But the vast majority of the time, it is all good! read more

If you go in during the week they usually have more time to spend with you. I've never had an issue on the weekends though. Bought a Blade Nano Q X as an individual package since the combo package with the radio transmitter was sold out. I had a E-flite controller for a CX2 helicoptor and the store clerk assured me that it work with the set up; he even demoed one in store and I was convinced based on the performance with the Nano Q X. Needless to say, I had nothing but problems with my transmitter and it was obviously not working and in the process did some damage to the one I bought individually. Talk with another store clerk (Brandon) and he tells me no that the LPD5SMP doesn't work with the nano Q X. WTF! I mostly shop there if I need something on a Sunday. Prices are usually SRP or higher and they don't support clubs thru hobby club discounts anymore. I had to return a defective part. I was delayed, then declined. I returned it to the distributor (at my expense)and it was warrantied without problem. BUYER BEWARE. This place will sell you a broken item unscrupulously. I did not see signs posted reading discounted items may be broken and unrepairable. I bought a 1:18 scale diecast car that had a red price sticker, which I assumed meant it was just a discounted item. It was originally priced at 90 but was now selling at 80. When it was brought home, it was very apparent that it had already been opened, and a tire fell off. I looked at the receipt, and on the receipt, it reads that red sticker items are not returnable. I called the store immediately to let them know, and the clerk said bring it in and he would fix it. I did and left the car with my name and number. I did not hear from them for two weeks, so I went to the store to get it. The wheel was still broke, and I was told that it had been "laying around here for the last two weeks". I am not sure what was being implied, that while it was sitting there for two weeks it was broke again, or had I tried to get it earlier I would have found out the car was unrepairable. I told them I was waiting for a call from them. All a got was a whole lot of hems and haws and shrugs. I was also told the car was not a toy meant to be played with, implying it was my fault it was broke, and basically, too bad. read more
