This is the absolute best store ever. Full Stop. It's a lovely old house right on Grand Ave so the parking might be tricky and the main door is a half flight of stairs. They don't always have the exact JellyCat or blind box my kids are hoping for, but they always have dozens of things I want to buy for everyone in my life, not just kids! We go here to get our Smiski fix. And right now they are showing their good hearts and their strong belief in human rights, so that's super cool too. Thanks Mischief! This place is a hidden gem! I took my granddaughters here in December and they loved it! They have a whole room for gaming, and my granddaughter Everleigh absolutely loved the stuffy section. The employees were so kind and welcoming. We will definitely be back! My granddaughter loved that the store is a converted house - so cool! read more

Needed an early Xmas present for my nibling & wanted to support a local small business so stopped by here. What I love is the unique gifts & outstanding customer service. It is sooo helpful to be able to say, "My nephew is 5 years old & likes to build things & likes music" and then I'm magically brought before items that he'd like. The worker genuinely seemed to care & wasn't pushy at all. I also enjoy that this store is in a house. It seems small when you first walk in but keep exploring since there's many rooms. They got all kinds of things from board games, to science games, to outdoor games, musical instruments, magic, books, & some great socks that say "sisters are the sh*t" (had to get those)! Huge bonus is that they wrap things for free, sweeeet! Mischief is the last toy store in Saint Paul so make sure to go support them & be labeled the best auntie ever come the holidays. read more

LOVE THIS TOY STORE!!! As a Mama who has done a lot of research on quality toys/books and is very picky about curating a good collection for my kiddo - this place has it all! They have very high quality toys, books, games and gifts (cute cards and stickers too) - I cannot rave about this place enough! The board games they have are great for all ages (even grownups). Plus all of the prices are comparable to those online - I'd much rather support a small business in our community than give more money to Amazon. Highly recommend when looking for your next gift! The employees are always super friendly too! read more

I went to the store over Christmas period. I kept getting emails about the mystery loot box. They showed an example of one of each they were offering. Apparently the junior box is 12 and younger. I went in with the intentions to buy the box and use a few items to give as a gift to one of my 13 year old autistic client. The photos of the boxes they were showing I saw several things that would be fitting. When I entered the store and was looking at boxes the retail associate said junior was 12 and under and the other was 12+ so I automatically went with clients age box. Although I wish I would have stepped back and got the other aged box because his cognitive level is not the same as his age. After opening the box inside I found a logic puzzle book, coffee mug, few pieces of old candy, book marker, two stickers, a game board/card -valued on amazon for $11, a naked baby figurine, two stone erasers, two tiny pins, a small 48 piece puzzle and a pencil. Not sure how all these small items added up to $65 which the box was suppose to be valued at and not sure if the mug or game was the higher priced item. I called to see if I could exchange or return and they said if it was open NO. I feel some exceptions should be made. read more

I love this store now. There is specialty candy and snacks, unique toys, and games for people of all ages. Spent about $60 on an armful of high quality fidget toys. Just hit the cafe down the block on the corner for a sweet treat, and you have a perfect parent and kid date! read more

Popped in for the first time this week to pick up presents for my 3 yr old niece and will definitely be back. Many thanks to the awesome staff who gave great recs and even wrapped the gifts in this beautiful fun cosmic galaxy paper. I'm a bit of a clueless Auntie when it comes to toy trends and brands but luckily their curation made it easy to locate diverse and ethically made toys as well as a good selection of sensory play items as well. My niece is thrilled and my brother and sister-in-law are still talking to me so win-win. read more

I just want to thank Mischief Toy Store for their masking policy. As someone who opposes Vaccine mandates, I welcome masking mandates as a safe and effective alternative. We spend a lot of time with the grandparents and do what we can to protect them. Also it's been stressful being immunocompromised by pregnancy during a pandemic. It's nice that Mischief is creating a safe, fun, and loving community environment for families. I will be doing lots of Christmas and Chanukah and birthday shopping here this season! read more

If you are looking to please the tweenager in your life you will find all kinds of great gifts that will amuse and entertain even the most difficult personalities in your life. Amazing store! I was there for the first time today with my wife. They have toys for adults and kids. We walked out with a toy and a huge list of things we are going to buy people for the holidays. This is the place to go for a fun toy for yourself or someone special. They have a little something for everyone. From Magic the gathering cards to books to magic tricks and zip lines. This place is charming and cute. Friendly staff, and all inclusive bathroom and a variety of many things: Nostalgic candy Stuffed animals Whimsical books Sidewalk Chalk, art supplies Musical instruments Those hammock thingies that I see everyone and their brother swinging in at the parks. I haven't had time to write a review because my kids and I have been spending all of our time AT this toy store! We have had so much fun browsing ( and buying) the unique inventory at Mischief. From books, candy, games, lava lamps, outdoor toys...this store covers all the bases for kids. The staff is friendly and helpful. When my son discovered he bought the wrong type of yo-yo, Mischief staff let him exchange it even though the package was ripped open. My husband and I sighed with relief at having side stepped a melt down thanks to these nice people. We are so glad to have this business in our neighborhood. read more

Mischief is your antidote to the creeping dread caused by big department stores knocking out local businesses left and right. It's everything you need a locally owned toy store to be. Quirky and whimsical, filled from floor to ceiling with unique toys, most of which you won't find at Target. With staff members who are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. This store is amazing!!! I was in town on business and noticed the brightly colored MISCHIEF sign outside. Of course, I had to go in, and I was glad I did. From the moment you walk up the steps it is clear that EVERYONE is welcome here - young, old, gay, straight, immigrant, local - everyone is a friend here. The staff were very friendly and the selection of gifts and toys is great!! They had a large stock of Blue Q socks (which are super fun) and also Blue Q bags! (I got a couple of each!) Good candy selection and they have all kinds of funky toys. Oh, and I picked up some UNICORN SNOT for my niece, cuz, ummm, who doesn't need some glittery unicorn snot?? This place always has the coolest stuff of any store around. I love who ever is doing the buying! The only bummer is that they're closed on Mondays, but I've always had good experiences here when I come in! When I heard that the people behind Peapods were opening a new toy store aimed at big kids, I got excited. I'd been a customer of theirs when my kids were little and I knew they were likely to stock merchandise that my kids and I would enjoy. Mischief does not disappoint. They have a fun selection of toys, books for all ages, art supplies, snacks, t-shirts, wooden swords, musical instruments, and on and on. They are staffed by people who are friendly and don't shadow kids around with the assumption they're going to steal or break something. They do have classes in the basement that I think are usually free- dance classes and music classes. I can't wait til my boys are old enough to go! You should also "like" her page on FB, she announces random sales and gives product reviews. Here's the only slightly negative- it's on the expensive side. But it's boutique stuff that you can't buy at Babies-R-Us or Target. And in my opinion, it's way better than most of the stuff you'll get there anyhow, but I know how it feels to pay mucho money for something your kid will only wear for a month (if you're lucky.) But sometimes you just have to buy stuff like that because it's SO DARN CUTE!

That's why this situation has been so hard. I dropped off an RC truck for repair and expected it might take some time. What I didn't expect was how long it actually took -- months and months passed while I waited. Eventually, when I called to check on it, I was told the truck had already been surrendered after 90 days. That news was absolutely heartbreaking. This wasn't just a piece of equipment to me. It was something I had invested a lot into and something tied to years of enjoyment in this hobby. I understand that businesses have policies, and I don't doubt they have rules in place, but learning about it only after the fact made the loss feel even worse. What makes this especially difficult is that I truly love this store. It's been part of my life story from childhood to now as a parent. I honestly can't imagine not going there anymore, and that's what makes this situation so emotionally complicated for me. I'm not posting this to attack anyone. I'm just really torn and hurt by how this played out, and I wish there had been more communication before it reached that point.

Two different team members went out of their way to ask if we needed any assistance and were friendly. The bathroom was clean and has a diaper changing station if you should need. Get it for a week at a time. Or, do their monthly membership-style program to get new games(s) every month! The best part?! It's a true gem of a store. And of course the people who work here and who visit here are the absolute best too! There's even a nice bathroom and a great community bulletin board! My family still loves the summer reading challenges. I personally love human rights. If you're not into basic human rights, you might not love this place, but then again in you're not into basic human rights you probably don't love that much of anything.

I'm not a model train guy, but am equally astounded by their selection and all of the supplies and accessories they stock for that hobby. Their selection of new kits is very deep and very well organized. The vintage kit selection is varied and reasonably priced. And bargains can be found in the back room if you know what you're doing. Staff is uniformly friendly; I am always greeted when I arrive. If I have a question or need help, it's always fast and efficient. if I just want to wander around and window shop, they don't seem to have a problem with that. This place is a real gem. A throwback to a time when shops like this dotted the twin cities. I haven't seen a shop like this since I used to shop at the old Moeller hobby shop in Robbinsdale. On the rare occasion I need something they don't stock, I will buy online. For everything else, there's no other shop anywhere who gets my business. This place is an absolute treasure.
