Been here several times. Usually on the day after Thanksgiving. We are from out of town, and we find this store carry lots of fun, clever, and sometimes audacious gifts. It's a good size store. Got plenty of light. Lots of merchandise, but it doesn't feel crowded. The prices are a bit high, but I like the idea that I can feel/touch the products, rather than ordering from Amazon. I used to love Patina. Such a fun, colorful, maximalists dream store. When I was a kid I feel like the vibe was more home decor, trinkets & boho-ish style. Now I feel like it's more of an overpriced gift shop. I'm aware that some items are justified in price because they are handmade and even some by local artist but the some of the price tags shock me a bit. I do like that they have Mn merch and a bit more trendy items (like disco stuff is in at the moment). The staff weren't very friendly. There were at least 4 staff behind the counter with no one checking out. No one greeted us, even when we were looking at jewelry at the counter they all had their backs turned to us and carried on with their personal conversations. This store lets the manager choose to profile people right away when they walk in the door. I was treated horrible. There is no way any of the managers should be allowed to make judgement calls like that with people they don't even know within 2 minutes of coming into the store. I have never stole anything in my life and do not even know them.. They had no right to treat me like I was a thief. read more

This is such a cool little shop! They have the best seasonal gadgets and decorations and lots of other cute Knick knacks (which are not usually my thing) and other items that make the best gifts. They have the best Montessori style toys and the cutest blankets and keepsakes. The one major negative is that it is quite pricy, which is why I do more browsing than shopping! I used to LOVE Patina, but in recent years they have started getting more and more items with profanity such as the best f****** notebook or lotion or scarf. I feel I can no longer take my grandchildren there to shop because the profanity is so much everywhere in the store now. This is such a fun store. If you don't know what to get someone for a gift (especially if it is someone who is hard to shop for), are looking for some interesting decor, etc., this is your place. The store is clean and has a nice vibe. There are all kinds of different things - clothing, candles, books, kitchen items, kids toys, games, etc. Everything seems fairly priced. In fact, I am often surprised that things aren't more expensive. The staff are friendly and greet you with a smile, and no one follows you around asking what you are looking for. The service is a perfect balance of friendliness and just letting you enjoy the store. It really is funny just to come here and look at everything. If I could give zero stars, I would we've been going to the store probably for the last six years I get mail my nail done around the corner. We used to have spent a pretty penny in the store and my husband just got asked to leave the store because the staff person was uncomfortable on the way he was shopping, but couldn't give us a detailed reason why. She says they have a policy that if any of the sales people feel uncomfortable the way somebody's shopping that they can ask them to leave. Felt very discriminatory since my husband is African-American somewhere else. read more

This place used to be cool, cool enough that I would be happily go with my wife to poke around. They always had some kitschy thing that was fun or interesting or offbeat. I can always find something here! I love this store because it has a little of everything I NEED. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The most exciting part of my last trip here was they had a few items I got for gifts on clearance! They wrapped both gifts up and I left with great gifts ready to be delivered. Patina's got it. Looking for a book of Awkward Family Photos? They have it. Want a tea infuser shaped like a dinosaur (the Tea Rex, so clever!)? They have it. Stopped in this location to make a return/exchange this morning with my Mom. Such a pleasant shopping experience overall. We walked in and were immediately greeted at the front door by a sales associate. First thing I noticed was how clean and organized everything felt. This store is merchandised so beautifully! Everything makes sense where it is, it doesn't feel overwhelming to shop, the displays are visually appealing and well lit. They have a TON of skus so it's actually amazing the visual team is able to find places for everything without having it look overwhelming. The sales associate who processed my return/exchange was so nice and gave me some good product care info on the crystals I was buying. I worked in corporate retail for 15 years and I can tell you that this store knocked it out of the park in terms of the customer experience. This newly opened store in Golden Valley is located in a great location in the strip mall on Hwy 55, right by the coffee shops, and restaurants,...easy to wander in....and once you step in to the store, behold... I guarantee you can't help but feel elated! JOY. Patina, take me away ~! Haha. When I walk into Patina, I Immediately feel like I am transported to another world... where it's colorful, bright, and happy. I love the layout of this store, and the unique, fun and well thought out collection of gift items. My goddaughter loves bugs. Well, she really liked a bug book once. So now I'm always looking for a good bug gift. Bug books, bug stickers, bug frames. She's only three, but inside that tiny little adorable head of hers she's probably thinking, "Who in Sam Pete told this woman that I like bugs? This freak-a-deak is obsessed with them." I had been thinking that I should think of something new to pique her interests. Until I stopped in Patina and found bug paperweights -- real bugs enclosed in glass blocks. I suppose most go into this store with a list of people they need gifts for (or need to perk up their own days). But I love a store that you walk into and some small, colorful object screams out the name of someone you love. This store does a lot of screamin' for me. I LOVE Patina and I'm so excited for this new location so close to where I live. This location is just as great as the other locations in terms of selection. However, I think it is an even better space. This location seems to feel really open and it lets you see all of the fun items. If I ever need a truly unique gift I go straight to Patina. This location has already given me multiple Christmas gifts. Also, this location is right next to a few restaurants, a Starbucks, and a great nail salon. Huge selection of seasonal Christmas merchandise like stockings, ornaments & mugs. They also have millions of candles from brands like Voluspa & Thymes. This is a VERY dangerous place. I walked around with my wallet clenched murmuring the mantra, "I don't *neeeed* to buy anything. I don't NEED to buy anything," over and over with futile hopes of leaving relatively unscathed. Alas, they have a tremendous amount of cute things. You'll always be able to find something, but you'll ALWAYS BE ABLE TO FIND SOMETHING (screams my wallet). A cute bag with that trendy new color in a sparkle-chevron pattern? Yes. A wall-hanging that would look appropriately ironically demotivational on your office door? Yes. Big balls of yarn that you're supposed to toss about or put in a bowl for decoration? Erm...yes. Speaking of the big ball of yarn; you'll probably be able to find a cute gift for your girlfriend or guyfriend here (though in my estimation it trends a bit to the "girly" spectrum), but the prices are occasionally out of line for the home-ec-project nature of some of the decor items. Some of the stuff is worth the premium (cute jewelry especially), and some of it is notsomuch (cheap plastic bead jewelry that looks a little more regretsy than etsy). No matter the age range you are looking for, there are gifts for everyone. Check out their sale wall. Usually, it is where the sad, last remaining item (which is totally still cool, just lonely) is hanging out, waiting for a new home. Your home, right? Also, you can purchase the baskets, etc. that are used to hold various products. I created a wedding basket, full of mustached items for a wedding and the lovely check out ladies were so helpful! They gave me a bunch of tissue paper, helped me peel off the price tags, and arrange in an attractive manner. Wham bam DONE. Above and beyond service, especially at this location. :-) read more

Let me start off with I love this store. I've bought a million and one gifts here, as well as items for myself. I am giving a 1 star because their return policy is incredibly strict. I bought a rather large gift and since I couldn't wrap it, wrote on the box. Unfortunately it wasn't something that could be used so I went to either return or exchange and they wouldn't allow me to do either. I get it, definitely shouldn't have written on the box. But also, from a customer service point of view, I'd appreciate a little more leeway when it comes to exchanging. If you are looking for a fun trendy store to buy fabulous gifts (for others or yourself) this is your place. The colors and neat table arrangements catch your eye from the moment you walk in. I like this Patina location the best due to less traffic and the store seems a bit bigger. Patina has a wide variety of jewelry, picture frames, purses/wallets, home/outdoor decor, books, scarfs, furniture, items for the children and the list goes on. You can easily spend an hour in here and still miss something. The prices are a bit high on some items which is why I only gave it a 4 star rating, but there are some pretty reasonable priced items for the more budget conscious shopper. My go-to for unique gifts and candles! I stopped at Patina specifically because I found they carry Voluspa candles. Although I can buy this candle brand online, I love that I can go in and try new candle fragrances instead of purchasing the tried and true ones over and over again online. Not only do they carry Voluspa, they have a fantastic selection of locally designed jewelry at a decent price point, plus other trendy jewelry that won't break the bank. I am from Phoenix area and visit up here 2 times a year. My favorite store from here to St.Paul hit 2-3 or more they all carry just alittle different things.
