This store is a-ok. Sometimes it does look a little too packed up, but I don't know maybe that's a good thing. They seem to always be ready for a shopping boom. It's very rare that I write such a low-start review of a store, and usually I don't even write reviews for chains. However, this store particularly stands out as one of the worst chain stores, and the worst Michaels, that I've ever visited (which is saying something, because I've been to some pretty terrible ones)...this place has notoriously bad lines because out of four registers, only two are ever manned despite it being a busy time, and this s possibly the only place I've ever experienced racist attitudes in a chain store in Moreno Valley particularly. But that's not why this is a bad review. Let's start at the top... My boyfriend and I brought in one of his beloved prints of an art piece that was very special to him, and required a custom framing job. Now, it's important to know that I've used this department many times in the past, especially when I was going to graphic design school when I needed mat board for presentations. The older woman that was working here was phenomenally rude and always gave me an attitude when I came to purchase mat board-- she's always been that way. In fact, I've run in to workers that have moved on to competing stores, and have said specifically this woman was very nasty and hard to work with. Why is this important? Because when I told my boyfriend (laughingly) that this lady might still be working there, and then discovered she was still there, I knew we were in for a tough time. When drawing up the order, we had to repeat information several times, because she kept entering it wrong. We corrected her entry of the email and phone number multiple times. She was snotty the whole time (I know, surprising, right?). We were told that it would take a week and they would call when it was ready. A week went by and no call came. Another week went by, and no call. So we finally called-- they couldn't find the order. After going through multiple people and waiting an entire day and a half for results, we call to find that they located the poster rolled up and tucked into a corner somewhere and were told that apparently the frame we ordered was discontinued and they couldn't find any contact information (despite correcting the lady from earlier multiple times and watching her put it in the computer) so they cancelled the order! Literally, they essentially take the money and walk away with it? That's some shady business, Michaels. I was told later that "it's impossible to contact corporate to gain information on the client's contact information through their membership with us"? I find this hard to believe... We go soon after to choose a new frame to replace the discontinued one, and meet a young woman and a young man-- it turns out that the older woman that made our process such a mess had quit very suddenly and they were trying to play 'catch up' because she left no notes, no instructions, and had stuck projects everywhere-- no one had any idea what had or had not been done (I would like to say that these very nice people are the only reason this makes one star). I understand it's not their fault, but then this happened...we picked a new frame, are promised it will be expedited, left new info, and went home. Then we waited...for almost a month. We call, we are told it's "almost finished, and should be ready by tonight or tomorrow"-- expedited indeed... When another day goes by, we call again, and are finally allowed to pick this up. Almost two months to complete a frame project? I understand things happen, someone quit, and it was a mess, but the wait, the trouble, the process, etc, are just unacceptable. It was a lovely shopping experience. I love it specially this time of year because I get to see their selection of Christmas decor and their discounts. It wasn't until there was a costumer who attempted to shoplift and made a scene when she was caught, throwing things off the shelf and screaming. This is not the store's fault but it left me concerned when an elderly lady was affected by the incident. I love shopping at Michaels, every one is usually super friendly and inviting in the store. However, my two-star rating is due to a recent phone call I have just had with Ashley (assuming a manager) at the Moreno Valley Michaels. She was VERY rude and dismissed my claim and tried to redirect me--and proceeded to HANG UP on me. I am VERY dissatisfied, as my boyfriend was, as I had my phone on speaker. We were both appalled at the customer service Ashley provided. I love michaels, but Ashley must work on her customer service skills, I would have given my rating 1 star, if it weren't for the nice employee that had answered the phone before her. Curbside pick up is a joke, do not order ! Online states if your order is made before 3:00pm it will be fulfilled the same day. Its a lie! I escalated my request to a manager who did not show any type of empathy , or concern about my order ! You can tell they are being over worked and are irritated asf. The manager expressed concerns how humans can't process 200 orders before 6pm. That is a concern she should escalate to corporate, rather then a consumer! My one and only concern is if your websites states "a order will be fulfilled as long as it's placed by 3:00pm?" This Michaels is my home away from home. I love this store specifically, I've been comming here for years happily handing them my paycheck in exchange for art supplies. Its clean, staff is awesome, I could navigate this store with my eyes closed I love it! Now I have some tips for you when shopping here. First download the michaels app, theres great coupons on there and they also have the weekly ad. Next if you know you're going to need help at a lock up ask the first associate you see not only will they open it for you but they'll led you too it if you don't know where it is. I am a frequent shopper at Michael's. Just want to give a shot out to Olivia for her great customer service! She went out of her way to explain a few different things to me. I thought I was holding up the line (one person behind me lol), so another girl jumped on the cash register to help the other lady why Olivia finished explaining.. and even explained the coupon program I knew nothing about. Always expensive but can sometimes find good deals. Checkout at all Michael's is usually slow because they only have 1 checker on even if they have a long line. And at this particular location, the checker was throwing my things in the bag. They were breakables too! Then he threw my bottles of paint on top of them. Not all checkers are the same though. On the floor, the employees were helpful. If you are searching for holiday items you have to look around the whole store because they don't have a set area for it all. Went here to try and find some birthday decorations and the place wasn't so bad. Until I asked a ginger haired worker for help finding an item and he acted like I asked him for a kidney. I love that the staff takes a moment to talk to you, however, when the line is wrapped around the store may not be the time for chit chat. I've been checking out all the local Inland Empire Michaels stores because each one has a different selection of the kinds of crafts I like to buy. It's funny how the Riverside location has a whole section of Smash journaling collage brand products, and other stores either have virtually none of just a few, just as an example, so if art collage is your thang, check out several stores. Some have different books to craft in as well. Some had the 7 Gypsies brand scrapbooking materials in larger supplies, some did not. Boy am I glad collage/scrapbook/journaling FiNaLlY got away from the vintage old photos of girls with dunce caps and butterfly wings! I was doing Altered books back in 1998 when it first became an art form and I never thought they'd move PAST that crud! I blame Somerset Studio magazines not Mchaels. lol... OK, so let's face it: Michaels is the only game in town when it comes to crafts. Employees are not treated that great here, (I worked at one for a few days, I know), so their interest in customer service is "meh". Can't blame them. But if you love being creative and realize that Wal Mart craft selection s*cks, then this place is better than nothing! read more

I used to come to Michael's very regularly and spend hours just browsing lol. I almost always find what I need and I never have a problem with store assistants chasing me down because I've been in the store for two hours. What do I do in there for so long?! I don't even know, but it was one of my favorite ways to just relax and unwind. Sometimes workers will ask me if I need any help and I just tell them no and they're on their way. I usually preferred it when they didn't ask but they're just doing their jobs lol. Lines at the register can get a little long and slow at times, but I'm usually never in a rush when I'm at Michael's so I have the patience. Customers here are generally nice too; always asking to make sure that other customers have coupons. It's a very collaborative method to save money :) Love this place, I've yet to have a problem. read more

I asked an employee, and she pointed me to the aisle where it was found in. However, they were out of stock, so then she called two other associates to help me find some in the back room. Also, during check-out, I had 2 coupons, but Michaels' store policy doesn't allow customers to use two coupons at once, so the cashier offered to ring me up two separate times. read more

I generally come here when there is a sale on yarn for my crochet projects. If I am able to use a coupon on regular priced items then the cost is decent otherwise the store is over-priced. The service is inconsistent. Some of the associates are friendly and very knowlegeable. Others are aloof, do not know what is going on in the store and give poor attitude towards questions. One of the associates has poor physical boundaries and will walk right into you if you do not move out of her way. There are rarely enough registers open even when the store is busy. Had it not been for convenience, I would avoid this location. read more

I've shopped at this Michaels in the past and can't say that I had a positive shopping experience. I thought I'd give them another chance so we stopped into Michaels on a Sunday afternoon - around 5ish - in search of frames. Sales signs were everywhere - BOGO & Military Discount - so we were pleased to find the frames in the size needed. Once we reached the cashier with our 2 frames and one regular priced item, I informed the cashier that I had a 40% off coupon on my phone, however the coupon would not load. She was polite and told me not to worry about it while she scanned a paper coupon giving us the discount. When the total purchase price was given, I was a bit surprised at the total. I questioned the price of the frames since they rang up both at regular price. The cashier proceeded to use her walkie-talkie to seek clarification. One employee said that yes, all frames are BOGO and another stated that the BOGO discount was only for one specific brand. After returning to the area where we selected our frames, right there on the same shelf in front of the frames we wanted was a sign clearly stating the brand we had were BOGO. I removed the sign and proceeded back to the cashier. After standing in line once again, I presented the sign to the cashier and asked why the frames were not ringing up at a sale price. I pointed to the date at the bottom of the sign which had a range of dates - the ending date was 6/23. I asked if it was possible that since today was 6/24 it may be because the sign was expired. Before the cashier could finish her response, another employee 'CARRIE' interrupted her and said that the sale sign was only for collage frames and that our frame was NOT a collage frame. I asked 'Then why would this sign be on the shelf directly in front of the frames we selected?' Carrie's response accompanied with a sarcastic attitude was 'I know it wasn't because I verified the price earlier but will honor the sign.' How she knew where this sign was is beyond me since she had no idea what frames we had when the initial price verification was in question. Not to mention the fact that she was calling me a liar - What type of customer service is that? I walked out, leaving my husband to finish the transaction because there was no way I was going to stand there and subject myself to her attitude. NEVER AGAIN! This was the last time I will enter this Michaels. HOBBY LOBBY which is just across the street will have my business and if they don't have what I'm looking for. there's always AMAZON. read more

The customer service for this business is suffering right now and will definitely cause a loss of its customer base. I won't be shopping there anytime soon. I ordered a curbside pickup, clicked when I was on my way, clicked when I arrived, then called. The clerk asked me where I was parked and I advised in one of the spaces across from the door. She asked what number and I did not know. (Found out later that there were numbers chalked in the parking slots but they were very faint and I did not notice when I pulled in and would have had to get out and look under my car to see it or pull out and look). Anyways, the clerk asked me to park in the red zone in front of the door. I did. It took 20 minutes before a clerk came out. The clerk handed me my bag and walked away without much of a greeting. I then noticed the item was not as I ordered, even a different brand. I called inside the store and stated the item was incorrect. A few minutes later the same clerk came out and grabbed the package and called inside to speak to someone in the store. She asked for the SKU on my order and stated it matched the SKU on my item, although it was not the same brand or the correct bristles that I needed. I asked that it be returned. She stated I need to come in and return it. I asked how busy it was inside and I stated this was not my error and had no desire to wait in a long line to return it today. I asked if she could give me priority for a return since this should have been an easy curbside pickup and I've taken enough time with this order. . The clerk stated no and that the inside line was not long. I got out my car and went in the store. There were 5 customers in line and 1 register open. It had been another 15 minutes before I got to the front of the line. At that time the same clerk that assisted me outside opened up a 2nd register. With not more than, "oh you were the person with a pickup order", there was no proper greeting or apology and the return was processed. That whole "curbside pickup" fiasco took over 35-40 minutes of my time and required me to go in the store. Never again. read more
