After perusing their website, I decided to call and get us schedule for a beginners knitting class. From my first telephone interaction I knew this was going to be a good thing. Fast forward a year later and I'm part of a community full of knitters that empower one another and help each other. The classes offered are wonderful and allow me to step out my comfort zone and meet new people andddd add some cool stuff to my wardrobe that I made on my own. Betty and Mansi are the sweetest and want nothing more than to help you be a great knitter and I appreciate how patient they are with me. I can now knit sweaters with confidence, and they are always there to help me if I mess up. The yarns are best. So much to choose from: Cashmere, alpaca, superwash wool, camel, and cotton and silk for knitting in the summertime -- just to mention a few! So much to choose from. And if I want to knit a furry critter or a doll for a child, the have good quality yarn at a more affordable pricepoint (luxury yarn v. budget). Plus I can count on them to always have the needle size I need to start my project -- not to mention beautiful project bags, tools needed for your project, notions, etc. And for at least the last year, they have expert CROCHET classes! Yes, I did say crochet because it seems like it's the new "in" thing to do! I did take a lesson from their crochet instructor and it was truly a lot of fun! This is by far the best yarn boutique in Georgia! P.S. They have an online shop as well! Something for everyone.

Eat Sleep Knit is home to a mammoth selection of quality, hand-dyed yarns and knitting/crocheting supplies. They do most of their business online but their bricks and mortar shop/warehouse is currently open from 12-3 PM Tuesdays through Saturdays.  Regarding COVID-19 precautions, they only allow 10 customers inside at a time (a sign outside instructs you to take a number), and masks are required. There's plenty of room to maneuver away from other shoppers since the floor is spacious. The skein shopping is unparalleled, with cubbies upon cubbies of favorites like Malabrigo, Madelinetosh, Manos del Uruguay, and Cascade. I had to refrain from prancing and twirling around in the aisles all giddy. The quantities and colorways are eye-popping! ESK has a Yarnathon rewards program where you can get bonuses for reaching yardage milestones. You also receive a scratch-off lotto ticket each time you buy something; you can score prizes like store credit and extra yardage. The employees are nice and helpful so don't hesitate to ask for assistance. And there's more yarn in the back in case you don't see what you need. I've also ordered online; purchases are shipped the next day or so, packed in bright tissue paper. The Black Friday sale is cool; you check out and then see what surprise discount you get, ranging from 10 to 100% off. Look at ESK's social media for details on this.

Especially as I'm gravitating toward more natural yarn types. It's a small, cozy, and intimate with a lot of variety of yarn. I like that they have a lot of natural yarns there. There's a pretty big range of prices for the variation of the yarn. You can find a lot of your crochet and knitting needs there from cute accessories, useful devices like the winding machine, hooks, etc. They also have classes you can sign up for.

Yarn is a magnet for me, so I tend to look for yarn stores, yarn deals and specialty stores. This particular yarn studio popped up on my google maps when I was looking for yarn for a prayer shawl. So I drove 30 minutes there and found some great deals on dyed yarns of cotton and wool varieties. Turns out they offer crochet and knitting classes too. The 2 store owners were very welcoming and gracious in their attentions. I was given personal service and made to feel special. I ended up with Japanese brand yarn - noro that I previously could not afford. It was a wonderful experience. I was told they vary yarns from 4 different individual dye artists.

They also sell sewing machines, and they seem to offer different types of sewing classes. There is also a selection of materials for sale. While I was waiting for my turn, a gentleman came to pick up his machine, and he seemed very happy. I did ask the sales lady, how much it did cost and the price seemed reasonable. Of course, every service price is based on the additional parts and labor needed. So, I will definitely give it a try. Seems like it will take few weeks to get your sewing machine back, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

I recently had a private knitting lesson here…read more The instructor begin with telling me the different types of forms yarn comes in, ie. hanks, skeins and balls along with other information about knitting. After the introduction the instructor picked out a wood circular knitting needle for me. The reason for choosing the wood I was told it would help hold the yarn better for a beginner versus a metal needle. When it came time to choose the yarn I was told to make my choice from a small area. I picked a mustard yarn. The next day I received an invoice from the store because I didn't pay for the items. Silly me. I assumed because I was only allowed to pick out from a certain section that it was included with the lesson that I had paid for. Unfortunately, because the yarn I chose was quite small. It has been difficult as a beginner working with it. There have been a lot of starts and stops which I would expect but more so because of the size of the yarn. I have since learned as a beginner I should have a bulkier yarn. When I left that day, I had not gotten the hang of the cast on, or the knit stitch. Five minutes before the class was to end we had just finished casting on and that didn't leave much time for the knitting since the store was opening. Since taking the class I have been able to get the hang of the cast on and the knit stitch thanks to Sheep and Stitch on YouTube. I think the reason I didn't get the hang of it in the store was because of the teaching style. It just didn't mesh with my learning style. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone here. Very professional staff. Because the yarn I ended up purchasing isn't good for beginners. I did call the store to see if I could exchange it, but I was told they would not accept it because it had already been wound. The staff was very nice. They were very helpful when customers came in.
