Initially, I wasn't sure if making the voyage to Dallas for Eat Sleep Knit was worth it but let me tell you, it sure was. Yarn paradise! Eat Sleep Knit is home to a mammoth selection of quality, hand-dyed yarns and knitting/crocheting supplies. They do most of their business online but their bricks and mortar shop/warehouse is currently open from 12-3 PM Tuesdays through Saturdays.  Regarding COVID-19 precautions, they only allow 10 customers inside at a time (a sign outside instructs you to take a number), and masks are required. There's plenty of room to maneuver away from other shoppers since the floor is spacious. The skein shopping is unparalleled, with cubbies upon cubbies of favorites like Malabrigo, Madelinetosh, Manos del Uruguay, and Cascade. I had to refrain from prancing and twirling around in the aisles all giddy. The quantities and colorways are eye-popping! ESK has a Yarnathon rewards program where you can get bonuses for reaching yardage milestones. You also receive a scratch-off lotto ticket each time you buy something; you can score prizes like store credit and extra yardage. The employees are nice and helpful so don't hesitate to ask for assistance. And there's more yarn in the back in case you don't see what you need. I've also ordered online; purchases are shipped the next day or so, packed in bright tissue paper. This is a great place for finding large and smaller yarn brands you can't get in big box stores like Joann's and Micheal's. It's the best yarn store in ATL/Metro ATL. There's a large selection of every weight of yarn throughout the store that is color coded, and you can look at all the brands they have to offer on their website. They got Cascade, to Hedgehog Fibers, Malabrigo, Emma's Yarn, and more. It's worth visiting in person, and I hope they get Apple Pay soon! read more

Wonderful store! After a negative experience at a local Atlanta store, I found Eat Sleep Knit - and they are well worth the 1-hour (each way) drive. The ladies in the store were lovely, patient, and very very helpful! She helped me select the right yarn, needles, and make modifications to my pattern. And the yarn selection is unmatched. I'll definitely continue making the drive here for my knitting needs. :) Their shipping was also super fast. The next day I decided I wanted to make my pattern larger, so I ordered additional skeins to match the color lots I bought the day prior. Arrived very quickly and in great condition. If you visit any yarn store in the country it should be ESK. Therefore, this is a must do for Atlanta. It is a massive selection of handyed and premium yarns. The store is beautiful and has a large selection of needles and patterns as well. The yarn is mostly superwash wool and blends from companies such as: Sweet GA, Lornas Laces, and Madelinetosh. Also lots of Alpaca, and some silks. Plenty of easy free parking. Go spend more than you planned on- I always do. read more

A friend of mine recently told me that this shop was re-locating closer to where I live. I decided to take an afternoon and check it out. WOW! The new location is gorgeous, and even though it is apparent that they are still putting finishing touches here and there after the move, things are looking fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful, available to answer any questions, but also fine to let you wander the aisles and pet the yarn if that's what you need to do. Now, keep in mind this is not a big box yarn shop or a Wal-Mart. The yarn here is fine quality, much of it hand-dyed, and the prices reflect that. They are reasonably priced for the quality products they sell. I ended up purchasing yarn to make a new sweater, a shawl, and one skein of something pretty that I just couldn't leave behind. The rewards program is fun and engaging, allowing for online customers to participate along with in-person shoppers. What a find! I was visiting fam for vacation and made a promise to my knitter friends that I'd come back from vacay ready to start our group project - a Zweig sweater. Well, after doing some internet browsing, I stumbled upon ESK. After reading several promising reviews and looking at a few pics, it was time to step out into the unknown. (Let's be honest, you never really know the vibe you'll get walking into craft stores.) Well, ESK is HUGE with an endless, almost mind boggling, selection of yarns... and their staff is super friendly! They must be accustom to the shock of newcomers because they smiled at my large eyes and gaping mouth when entering. They quickly gave me the run down and lay of the land before offering to help me navigate the store. I honestly had to make two trips because the first was so overwhelming while looking at all of their inventory. I totally FaceTimed a friend to hear her astonishment at the sheer size of this place too. Let me say that I'm already pretty spoiled by the selection of yarns and friendly staff/knitter family in my favorite NYC yarn store. While at ESK, I mentioned that I was visiting and talked about the awesome store I usually frequent back home. Sure enough, one of the staff members knew of my home away from home back in NYC. We exchanged notes so that she could visit Annie's during her next trip to the City. Chatting with their staff, hearing about their social events, and even seeing people come into their store with such comfort, let me know that this place is genuine and will become one of my go-to shops when I'm in town. During my second visit to ESK, I finally settled on yarn for my sweater and even reached a milestone in their points system. (You reach milestones based upon the yardage of yarn you've purchased and with each milestone you get more perks. I'm already itching to use my next $5 off.) Though a little out of the way from Atlanta, this place is definitely worth the visit because they will most likely have that random skein of yarn you need. (Note: When driving, it's easier to spot the childcare center across from them in their plaza. They're off to the side and a little out of view.) But, if you can't make it in, know that they are an online company first and you can totally shop and rack up milestones for their same voluminous inventory available through their website. I walked in and literally gasped! Spread out in front of me was a smorgasbord of yarn delights. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The sheer volume of yarn in that room blew me away! It's like they had every color of every line they carried. Apparently their showroom is also their warehouse. I saw some of the staff pulling orders as I shopped. I love all the extras as you check out. The scratch offs are a hit! I won a great shopping bag. Eat. Sleep. Knit. in Dallas, GA has an expansive collection of beautiful yarn in any imaginable weight. This is a yarn paradise! In-store accessories include crochet hooks, DPNs, and interchangeables; stitch markers; needle gauge measures and the like. I will say the standard crochet hook supply was limited; I found no wooden hooks--but aluminum hooks were certainly available. I am down grading the store, however, because I found the primary saleswoman fairly rude. When I was asking about the store layout as I was targeting a specific weight yarn, I asked her if the DK and Aran weights could, in a manner of speaking, be considered a lighter and heavier weight worsted yarn. I was instructed that these yarns are not the same and then instructed on the differences. After being talked AT, I responded that I fully understood the different weights. As I was racing through the store to find my selection, I overheard another customer asking questions as she checked out. I am uncertain what her question was exactly, but I heard the same saleswoman respond, "we are closing, so you don't have time to shop." As I checked out, I was informed most people shop online rather than from the physical store. I am not certain how that works, given yarn must be touched and seen in person to accurately determine affects on planned projects. Monitors can alter colors, and dyes may vary greatly. I mentioned I would not want to complete a job with yarn I didn't lay hands on prior to starting work. On my way out the door, I noticed a Knitters Pride wooden ball winder. I turned and began to ask if this were an item they sell. Before I could ask, however, I was interrupted and informed, "You can't wind right now because we are closed." I responded to the saleswoman, "I wasn't asking to wind. I was asking if you sell the item. That's all." Ma'am, I have my own swift and winder. I didn't need to use yours. What I did need was for you to try actively listening and being a lot more accommodating to your customers. I dropped close to $150 in some wonderful yarn, and I would have been a lot happier dropping that money down had the saleswoman been more polite. read more

I am continually surprised by terrible customer service by retailers. I am a frequent knitter and often shop for yarn online. Having purchased yarn from this store almost monthly over the last two years, including some very expensive yarns, I would have hoped that they would be more concerned with keeping a regular customer. I ordered a solid colored Blue Sky Alpacas yarn from ESK, and they sent me three different dye lots of yarn. When I called to express my dissatisfaction, I was told that the yarn is not available in single dye lots in more than 5 skeins. (I needed 8 or 9.) A quick call to Jimmy Beans confirmed that this was a blatant lie. When I called the store in the hopes of resolving this matter, I was told that I could return the yarn, but that I would be responsible for all shipping costs (both directions) unless they could visually discern a difference between dye lots. While I understand that with unique and sophisticated hand-dyed yarns that no two skeins will be exactly identical, requiring alternating skeins, when I'm knitting a solid color that comes in dye lots, that is an unreasonable expectation. The fact that the salesperson on the phone was unwilling to refund a $12 shipping charge for a regular customer after another salesperson blatantly lied to me is really shocking. I will never shop with them again. read more

Eat Sleep Knit is my go-to yarn shop to feed my addiction for hand-dyed fiber, especially hand-dyed sock yarn. I just can't resist buying that stuff. Besides sock yarn, there is quite a range of yarn and other knitting accessories. Eat Sleep Knit also has one of the largest inventories of yarn in the metro Atlanta area, in my opinion. Want to see 130+ different colorways of the always wonderful Malabrigo Worsted? Go to Eat Sleep Knit. You're usually lucky if a yarn shop will carry 10 or 15 different colorways of a particular yarn base (granted there are many colorways). But since Eat Sleep Knit is still primarily an online store, they stock almost every colorway of each yarn base. And some of it in sweater sized quantities. Even though Eat Sleep Knit is mostly an online yarn shop, the store is open for limited hours for in-store shopping. It's definitely worth a visit to check out the Malabrigo room. *swoon* And being in the Atlanta area, most of my orders arrive in a day or so. Or I can arrange for in-store pick-up. Another reason to buy yarn at Eat Sleep Knit is the yarn rewards programs. With each order you get a yarn lotto scratch off ticket. The prizes include free yarn, patterns, or even a few bucks off your next order. And then there's the Yarnathon. Basically, Eat Sleep Knit tracks the amount of yards of yarn you purchase. ESK does it well and does it right. They are primarily an online shop, but have opened their doors for the locals, and boy, am I glad they did. They are in a location that is heavily warehouses, so it was tough to find the first time around, but now that I know where it is, I will never drive past again. The yarns they carry come with a larger price tag than those you might find at Michael's, but they are beautiful, high-quality yarns. My first visit, I won a free skein on the scratch off ticket...what's better than that?! I picked out a lovely laceweight that would give me the most bang for my buck. They also carry Knitpicks needles, which is perfect for those times I just need some extra tips or another cord. Customer service is always great, the staff are friendly and helpful (even looking up patterns on Ravelry for me when I forget exactly how much yardage I need), and I always leave with a smile plastered on my face. This is, by far, the best knit shop in the Atlanta area. They only stock high quality beautiful yarns, but keep the price is very competitive. They are marketing geniuses, with special incentives that get better the more you shop with them. I started out as an online customer, but one visit to the shop made me rethink that. I've lived in the Atlanta area for about 8 months but hadn't located a go-to knitting store yet, until I found this place last weekend. Thanks to Yelp reviews I decided to drive the 30 minutes to this store and was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and offered me some very helpful tips on several knitting questions. They had a great selection of yarns and I found some very soft organic yarns for the baby blanket I'm about to knit. They helped me pick out the pattern for the blanket and helped me to pick out the yarn. They also gave me a scratch off game that yielded $5 off my next purchase. I'll definitely be going back. This place is amazing. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's so damn expensive. Staff was friendly and helpful. Most of the yarn was wool based so if you're looking for cotton based yarn they literally only had one kind. The color selection and variety of wool yarn was absolutely out of this world. I think the cheapest skein was around $17 - tons of knitting supplies as well - nothing for crochet supplies though. Lots of parking and if you check in on Facebook they give you a free measuring tape with their logo on it. I love Eat Sleep Knit. I live about 45 minutes away from their new location so I can drive there as well as order online. Their customer service and Fun rewards program is what keeps me coming back. These guys are the best! First of all, they are super fast: I ordered a skein of yarn from their website at 11pm on a Friday night (the day after Thanksgiving no less), and it was in my mailbox on Monday. It's always such a pleasant surprise to see a small business so on top of things, especially over the holidays. Secondly, they recently revamped their website to make things cleaner and easier to use. (I particularly like the "sort by color" option and the ability to show only those yarns that are In Stock.) As others have noted, this on-line business is anything but customer friendly. I purchased yarn on-line for $128.70 from this business and stated in capital letters in the "comments" area of my order that I needed the yarn wound. I received the yarn but not wound. When I called to discuss this problem the manager immediately projected the problem on to me insisting I had not requested winding in my order. No apology. Just "it's your fault." When the yarn came I spent over $19 to send it back priority with signature required. I followed all the required steps listed for the return policy, and they did receive it and sign for it. Today I received an e-mail from the store manager Lindsay stating the following: "Thanks for your patience in this matter. We've looked over your issue and have decided that we will be happy to wind your yarn and return it to you. We can wind up to 3 skeins for free. After the 3rd skein we charge $1 per each additional skein. This is our normal winding policy. Once we have wound your yarn, we can return the package to you for the price of postage, which will be $9.75. Let us know f it is okay that we charge your credit card $12.75 and we will get started right away. We may be able to wind all 6 skeins today and ship by tomorrow." BUYER BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS. read more

I ordered a skein of Tosh Chunky. Paid and received an order confirmation e-mail that contained the tracking number. After a few days, I checked the status. Status was "out for delivery." Was pleased because this was fast. Did not receive the package and the USPS msg was "Delivery status not updated." I called USPS and they didn't know where the package was so I contacted Eat Sleep Knit (ESK) and was immediately shot down with a snide e-mail letting me know that: a) I didn't choose a mail service with tracking so they can't help; b) they DON'T USE TRACKING ON FIRST CLASS PACKAGES so they can't help; c) it "says right there on our website that we don't offer tracking on first class package" and that I should have read that before selecting a shipping service so ... they can't help. They weren't listening, they weren't reading, they were just repeating the same nonsensical "we don't track First Class packages" line over and over again, in spite of their own e-mails containing tracking numbers. And somehow all of that was MY FAULT. I felt as if I was trapped on an episode of "Punked." I e-mailed back that there was a tracking number that they sent to me and all I wanted was for them to please just give a call to the USPS as sometimes an inquiry from the company will help dislodge a trapped package. More e-mails from them telling me basically I'm an idiot who can't read their policies so they can't help. Finally, I lost my temper (after 8 e-mails back and forth with me telling them there is a tracking number with no response from then other than they don't track First Class packages and there isn't anything they can do BUT if I wanted to return the yarn, it needs to be in the same condition it was in when they sent it. Really? REALLY? How am I supposed to send back yarn I haven't received because it's stuck somewhere and you won't help because you don't even know you sent it to me with tracking. I was just flabbergasted. And getting mad. I was beside myself. These people didn't read their own website, didn't have any knowledge of a shipping e-mail they sent that contains the tracking number and they're unaware that First Class packages can and are tracked by their company. I told them I was sick of going back and forth with them and that *I* was the customer! They had the tracking number (I gave it to them 20 times, honestly and sent a copy of the e-mail THEY sent to me) and that I wanted a refund and they could deal with the USPS. The owner of the company, Erin, sent a snotty e-mail telling me that my main problem was impatience and rudeness and she didn't care if I was the customer: she would not be spoken to like that. Like what? With logic and substantive evidence that they tracked the package but were completely unaware of that fact? That they were ignoring copies of e-mails they sent to me clearly indicating they can track the package? She sent another e-mail informing me that if I'd bothered to read the website, I would know there is no tracking. Like Alice down the rabbit hole. She even threatened to charge my card with a fee for a chargeback because she felt I was being fraudulent!!!! Clearly, she didn't even read her own e-mails. She never checked the tracking number that shows the package is stuck somewhere and that she as the owner of the company could have easily handled this by acknowledging she was unaware that her own company tracked First Class parcels and that she would look into it. If she'd just taken a minute to look into the matter, she would have seen that she really could have diffused this immediately by displaying a little empathy. Instead, she insulted me, blamed me and threatened me. Over a skein of YARN! I spent far too many hours dealing with this horror show. I've shopped online at many other online yarn stores and the real test of a company is when there's an issue and how the company responds to the issue, how you're treated while the issue is being investigated/resolved and how you feel about the experience. This store failed on EVERY ASPECT and if I ever get the package, it's going right back to them. If I could give negative four stars, I would. I have no idea how these people remain in business. Buying a $20 skein of yarn is a nonessential purchase in this economy and how she handled this situation should be a lesson to every small business owner on WHAT NOT TO DO when there's an issue. So many really terrific online yarn stores have closed yet this one is still going. There are other, better online yarn stores that give great service, care about your experience and would never react in the way that Erin and the other ESK employees reacted. I've had lost pkgs in the past but the companies were able to locate and resolve without me feeling as if I've done something wrong by giving them my money. Never again with ESK. I do NOT recommend. It didn't matter that they were closed the day I made the purchase and I couldn't call and ask for clarification on their sale. It didn't matter that I searched their Facebook page, website, Google, and Ravelry for their sale policies and couldn't find it. It didn't matter that I tried to cancel the order the day I made the purchase. My emails for help were met with inflexibility, a lack of understanding, and a refusal to help. Buyer beware. This store may have some amazing yarns but trying to do business there is most disappointing. The staff hide behind store policy as if it was sacrosanct and have no desire to be client friendly. I purchased at this store 3 times this year. My last order cost $238 including a 10% Black Friday reduction. On receipt of the order, I found that 3 skeins of one yarn were quite a different color to what I expected. These 3 skeins were worth approx $90. I returned them at a cost of 10 euro (I live in Ireland) and was informed that no reduced goods could be accepted for return and apparently this policy is written throughout the site. I had not spotted it. The only solution they offered me was the return to me of the disappointing yarn at a cost of $16 postage. I asked if maybe I could have a refund, or store credit, or a replacement with another color of the same yarn. All of these options could not be considered. This inflexibility is totally unacceptable and such a waste of time and money. I now have 3 skeins of yarn that I do not like which has cost me $90 plus original postage and $26 in additional postage. I will not be shopping here again. Catherine K. read more

BEWARE!!! Terrible customer service! I ordered madelinetosh yarn and received a couple of skeins. One skein looked like it had bleach splashed on it. The other one was a completely different colour. Both were supposed to be used in the same project. In the FAQ, the company states: "Any time you place an order for multiple skeins of one color/yarn, we do our best to match your skeins visually as though the project were our own". When I contacted customer service I was told to hide the spots!! I wish I had listened to other negative reviews as they are spot on. I would not order from this company again. read more
