I was visiting ATL for the weekend and wanted to visit some yarn stores so the Craftivist came up in my research. I saw that they host events for people to come in and work on their fiber arts a few times a week so this sold me on visiting! When I stopped in, I was greeted and there was space for me to sit down. I even got some help on my project. It was so nice to be community with people who love the fiber arts for a little while. I look forward to supporting their business since they also ship!

I recently had a private knitting lesson here…read more The instructor begin with telling me the different types of forms yarn comes in, ie. hanks, skeins and balls along with other information about knitting. After the introduction the instructor picked out a wood circular knitting needle for me. The reason for choosing the wood I was told it would help hold the yarn better for a beginner versus a metal needle. When it came time to choose the yarn I was told to make my choice from a small area. I picked a mustard yarn. The next day I received an invoice from the store because I didn't pay for the items. Silly me. I assumed because I was only allowed to pick out from a certain section that it was included with the lesson that I had paid for. Unfortunately, because the yarn I chose was quite small. It has been difficult as a beginner working with it. There have been a lot of starts and stops which I would expect but more so because of the size of the yarn. I have since learned as a beginner I should have a bulkier yarn. When I left that day, I had not gotten the hang of the cast on, or the knit stitch. Five minutes before the class was to end we had just finished casting on and that didn't leave much time for the knitting since the store was opening. Since taking the class I have been able to get the hang of the cast on and the knit stitch thanks to Sheep and Stitch on YouTube. I think the reason I didn't get the hang of it in the store was because of the teaching style. It just didn't mesh with my learning style. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone here. Very professional staff. Because the yarn I ended up purchasing isn't good for beginners. I did call the store to see if I could exchange it, but I was told they would not accept it because it had already been wound. The staff was very nice. They were very helpful when customers came in.

We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we needed any help. I told them what I was looking for and they directed me to the selection of yarn that they offered. The second person that directed me to their selection was nice, enough. However, as I walked around the store, I felt that I was being watched, which is an uncomfortable feeling, as most could understand. After I found a suitable yarn, I asked about double-pointed needles and again gave the specifics of the needle type I was seeking. They kept their needle selection behind the counter and the lady helping me wasn't sure if she even carried the size I was looking for, which isn't unusual, but they were able to locate some. As I went up to the counter, the original person who greeted rang me up, but she just simply wasn't friendly. Although she was pretty nice to the person who was at the counter at the same time as me. I won't say this shop was racist, but they were definitely not welcoming to my mother and I. Since I live out of state, it's not a hardship to not return here. And it's far out of the way of where my family lives, so I won't ever be tempted to return again.

I had a great experience and happy that this business is in the area…read more I was worried about where I was going to get my yarn from after Joanne's closed. Especially as I'm gravitating toward more natural yarn types. It's a small, cozy, and intimate with a lot of variety of yarn. I like that they have a lot of natural yarns there. There's a pretty big range of prices for the variation of the yarn. You can find a lot of your crochet and knitting needs there from cute accessories, useful devices like the winding machine, hooks, etc. They also have classes you can sign up for.

Yarn is a magnet for me, so I tend to look for yarn stores, yarn deals and specialty stores. This particular yarn studio popped up on my google maps when I was looking for yarn for a prayer shawl. So I drove 30 minutes there and found some great deals on dyed yarns of cotton and wool varieties. Turns out they offer crochet and knitting classes too. The 2 store owners were very welcoming and gracious in their attentions. I was given personal service and made to feel special. I ended up with Japanese brand yarn - noro that I previously could not afford. It was a wonderful experience. I was told they vary yarns from 4 different individual dye artists.

My mother has been a customer of theirs for well over a year and has spent a lot of $$$ supporting this business. We thought this facility catered to customers who loved to knit and welcomed a friendly atmosphere full of camaraderie and social groups. This does not seem to be the case so please do not be fooled. Not only was Lisa over the top rude and disrespectful to my mother, she embarrassed her to the point of never returning or patronizing the business again. Some background here: Yes my mother is a senior citizen Yes my mother loved this place because she enjoyed the company and camaraderie of the owners and the other patrons Yes she hung out here ALOT--they have couches, tables, and lazy boys to promote this, we thought Lisa, the one of two owners said my mother was "demanding of their time". We know my mother paid for her classes, materials and lessons over and above of what was expected and we thought that was what Yarn Junkee's catered to. With an open mind I went into Yarn Junkees to speak with Lisa to find out exactly what was said if this could be a mistake. No apology from her or wishes that this could have been different. Next, I asked her what she "really" said to my mother. Please make no mistake, this is Lisa not the other owner who is still very kind to this day to my mother. In front of customers and my mother's friends, she asked my mother to "LEAVE" and "THIS IS NOT A SENIOR CITIZENS BABYSITTING SERVICE''!!!! The last time we checked (and no customers were in the facility) there was no sign stating "Please only stay an hour, 1/2 a day or a full day." Lisa was the RUDEST OWNER I have ever met. When I tried to find out from her what took place, she wouldn't explain the "whole" story, nor has she apologized to me or my mother to date. I would highly caution not only senior citizens from going into this business, but anyone else that chooses to support it. Not only was Lisa discriminatory against senior citizens, Lisa also needs to put her customer service skills into check for her business to ever flourish and/or succeed....good luck with that WE will never be back.

Lots of toys, stuffies, and blind boxes for my little girl to get excited about. The trains in the front caught her attention and the many statues throughout the store she loved too. My wife had a good time helping me look at Gundam models and paints for my Warhammer army. We spent a good amount of time in the gaming room getting her some sleeves for her cards and checking out the books, figures, and tables set up for gaming. Ended up getting a few things and was an easy process. I think for the price of everything we got a good value cause we could have easily gotten everything online but I think part of what makes this place amazing is the passion the staff has for the hobbies, the amount of options they carry, and then if they don't have something you want (Warhammer stuff is what I was looking for) they will order it for you. We will for sure be back again cause I know I'll need more paints and I have my eye on a few models I saw in the Gundam/anime section.
