Mansfield Michaels -- Mansfield Crossing : 280 School Street, Mansfield Interior

A bit better. Still not nearly the best Michaels location though. Now that the Westwood Michaels has opened 8 minutes from my house, and is brand new. Nothing compares as well. This specific Michaels store, always is rather empty. At least, when you walk into the store, the right side usually has seasonal stuff but today and my last visit at least was trashed and empty. The back of the store where clearance is, is TINY (as is the storefront sign, which is weird). The selection of the rest of the store isn't a problem and I actually like the layout (since it is the same as most of the other Michaels stores, now that they renovated). The checkout area is fine, and normally doesn't have too long of a line. This Michaels stores is easily described as 4 stars. YET : -1 star for incorrect receipt address. My receipt states they are located at "280 School Street - ST 220", which is half incorrect. It should be " 280 School Street - ST 160", which their storefront and website read. I have called multiple times, seems as they just don't care...... All in all, ok Michaels. Don't go out of your way to go to this specific location. UPDATE : May 2017 This location continues to improve! Shannon and the rest of the employees are just fantastic! Everyone is friendly, kind, and helpful all the time. Here is my message to corporate after an astounding experience here and a horrible experience at the Stoughton Michaels "Shannon at the Mansfield Michaels is amazing. I was looking for black canvases and couldn't find them at any other Michaels. The Stoughton location employees were so rude and didn't even carry the product. Shannon was super friendly here and helped me quickly locate the items I needed. She made my checkout experience fast as well. Wonderful. I will be doing more and more of my shopping in Mansfield rather than the Stoughton Michaels! Thanks Shannon!" Shop here. They are always improving! Still mad about the receipt being wrong, but the wider selection, amazing staff and service make this the best Michaels in the area. 4 stars.

The store is essentially a storybook cottage, filled to the brim with everything a knitter or crocheter could ever want, and presided over by the fabulous "Auntie Zaza"! Yes, the owner of the shop is an ever-delightful presence, enchanting shoppers with her bubbly personality and enthusiastic manner. She even gives knitting lessons to craftspeople of all ages and skill levels, and even though I haven't knit a stitch in my life, I look forward to signing up for one of her classes in the near future. Easton may be a bit "out of the way" for Yelp's decidedly Boston-based user makeup, but if you want to support an awesome small business and get some of the best yarn and crochet / knitting accessories on the South Shore, Auntie Zaza's is the place to go!

They have a lot of mid price range blend, which I am so about and also some nice higher end yarns. Not only was the selection great, but so are the owners! Both the owner and her daughter are the most lovely woman. The owner has spent a lot of time in Seattle (where I live) and was even able to give me recommendations for a good yarn store there, as I've been struggling to find a good fit for me! She even took a few moments to show me a new technique! Wonderful store with a wonderful selection and even more wonderful people!!

No labels about content, no yardage info, even the gauge is iffy (because it's on a cone, so it's compressed). Just stuff. The guy buys mill ends and mistake things that bigger yarn manufacturers don't want - kinda like the TJ Maxx of yarn. So some of the stuff is really good; a lot of it is "wtf??" I know for sure that a bunch of the cones were Lion Brand homespun. Mostly you just have to rely on the man's memory & guess for what the fiber content & weight is. Since 95% of stuff is on cones, you won't find much worsted or heavier weights. But he does have a wall of hanks with really nice stuff - the actual stuff you'll find in a nice yarn shop and for the same price as everything else: $8 per pound for 100% wool; $4/lb for wool blends. You just gotta wash it a lot to get out that weird factory smell. Vanessa T's photos show everything perfectly. He also has a big supply of random vintage notions. Like elastic for sewing for 50 cents per package. Or some new-in-package Ace bandages from 30 years ago, if that's your bag.
