I love this place the employees are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a $2.99 yd section in the back with many options.

Found this very bright, colorful and lush tropical velvet fabric today for use as a door curtain! Love it!

Love this place! The variety in different textures and styles is amazing! I come here when I need to make curtains out of sheets of fabric, after all aren't curtains just long yards of stitched fabric? Haha The only place that rivals this was Ryco and they unfortunately closed last winter. The employees are always friendly and don't hesitate to ask you if you need help with measurements! The bargain section always has some great finds as well! It's nice to visit a local spot that just sells fabric and not a ton of overpriced arts and crafts supplies lol. Come here and you won't be disappointed!

I was looking for cushion material for a boat. Saw some navy blue material that looked promising. I inquired but got no information? All i heard was its water resistant "OUTER WEAR". No other information? Grade, country of origin, material specs and exactly what is it? I took a chance and bought it, 21 yards and invested money to wrap my cushions. Turns out i cannot imagine buying a more cheaper product? It was not water resistant, the blue dye streaked with water as if the dye was being washed out??? What a huge mistake! I think the sales people will tell you anything to make a sale? They should be required to declare country of origin and exact specs. I saw my cushion person yesterday and she showed me a marine vinyl cushion she just wrapped. The quality was first class and stunning! In looking back at their Marine vinyl it appeared to be garbage and would crack after the first year. Dont be penny wise and dollar foolish. If unsure buy a name brand product with a company that stands by their product. Lorraine does not. And honestly, IN HINDSIGHT they should be reported to the BBB

Fantastical. The girls were very nice and helpful. Found a beautiful fabric to recover a headboard. $3 a yard. Great selection!!! You can find ANYTHING here!!

    My happy place.

I have loved this mill my entire life. Whenever I go back home I have to get my Lorraine fix.

Just the first aisle on the first floor!

I spent about 3 hours here and ended up scouring the store from top to bottom. The entire upstairs level of this mill store is filled with fabric that is $1.99 / yd. Lots of plain, and some ugly up there but still nice to check it out. Some of the folded fabrics are designer lines that are end of the bolt specials for the low price. Anyway, you got yourself there, so check out the upstairs and look for a bargain. Downstairs is filled with bolts and rolls of fabric ranging in price. I think the most expensive yardage I bought was an outdoor waterproof / fadeproof Sunbrella fabric for $14.99 / yd., this fabric typically retails for $25 / yd. All sorts of cotton, batik, fabric backed vinyl, blackout, wool, felt, cordoroy, upholstery, trims, thread, and notions. The ladies are helpful. For some of the ladies english isn't their first language but they are seamstresses at heart and are able to quickly figure out what you are making / what you need, how much to buy based on pattern repeats, etc. Don't go to Lorraine if you're looking for a specific Waverly pattern or if you need 56 yards of matching fabric. They specialize in great pricing on leftovers and ends of rolls - so if you need more than they have, it is likely you'll never find it. I'm not sure how often their stock turns over but I'm excited to go back in a few months to check it out again.

don't bother asking for help because you will be made to feel like a huge inconvenience. Also, they close early randomly so that's fun.

No labels about content, no yardage info, even the gauge is iffy (because it's on a cone, so it's compressed). Just stuff. The guy buys mill ends and mistake things that bigger yarn manufacturers don't want - kinda like the TJ Maxx of yarn. So some of the stuff is really good; a lot of it is "wtf??" I know for sure that a bunch of the cones were Lion Brand homespun. Mostly you just have to rely on the man's memory & guess for what the fiber content & weight is. Since 95% of stuff is on cones, you won't find much worsted or heavier weights. But he does have a wall of hanks with really nice stuff - the actual stuff you'll find in a nice yarn shop and for the same price as everything else: $8 per pound for 100% wool; $4/lb for wool blends. You just gotta wash it a lot to get out that weird factory smell. Vanessa T's photos show everything perfectly. He also has a big supply of random vintage notions. Like elastic for sewing for 50 cents per package. Or some new-in-package Ace bandages from 30 years ago, if that's your bag.

Suddenly, the police were called. Two Risd police officers arrived, detained me, and demanded my ID. I had no idea what was happening and was completely shocked After speaking with the store manager, the officers told me that about two years ago, when I purchased earrings at this store, I HAD TRIED THEM ON, WHICH WAS APPARENTLY NOT ALLOWED TO TRIED THEM ON! .. The same saleswoman who sold me the earrings at the time was at the desk today and she/or the store mange called the police today. she disappeared immediately when the officers arrived. The police officers themselves seemed surprised by the accusation. I am still struggling to process what happened today. I do not recommend purchasing anything from this store--mainly of course because of the disturbing and behavior and ridiculous accusation made by the saleswoman/manager , as well as the store manager's entirely lack of judgment, also of the exorbitant and unrealistic prices of this store. Therefore, I returned the set of necklace and the earring. The entire incident caused me significant emotional distress, and I remain shaken and upset by the injustice event I experienced due to the store manager's poor handling and poor judgement It is a shame and a disgrace... He/She showed a complete lack of judgment and caused me trauma for no fault of my own. If the saleswoman had asked me not to wear the earrings, there is no way I would have worn them.I complied immediately, after she asked not to wear the earrings.I am confident that the store's security cameras will fully corroborate my account of these events. The decision to involve law enforcement over an alleged incident from about two years ago about trying on earrings that, In addition, I would like to clarify that I purchased the earrings, and returned them in full compliance with the store's return policy. After the incident, a third party who heard about what occurred speculated that the saleswoman may have lost her commission on the returned item. Its raise the possibility that she made sure to inform the store manager that I was in the store, Since almost intentionally the moment I arrived at the store until the police arrived, she was busy texting on her phone. What deeply concerns me is that despite the fact that approximately two years had passed since that purchase and return, the saleswoman appeared to act in a retaliatory manner. Her behavior felt targeted and disproportionate, as if she were deliberately singling me out or "hunting" me, which ultimately led to an unfounded and humiliating escalation of the situation. This whole Spiel were not in my awareness when the officers approached me. This was and still shocking, absurd, unjustified and demonstrates a serious failure of managerial judgment. This action caused me undue distress, profound public humiliation and emotional stress, for which the store bears responsibility! The police made me sit on a chair at the store entrance while questioning me, as all customers watched, causing me public degradation and personal shame! I expect an internal review, and apology from the store manager. This is serious and troubling enough and on its own, and it raises the concern that it could happen again to any customer! The question also arises as to whether calling the police over the wearing of earrings on my ears is lawful and legitimate??? The store manager's actions constituted intentional harassment and abusive conduct! There was no legitimate basis for the manager's action, He abusing his authority and exploiting his position. I believe the manager targeted me as an immigrant, identifiable by my accent, believing I was easy to haras, as well racially motivated, despite my being an American citizen with 40 years in the field of education. Such behavior from management is unacceptable and warrants attention!
