I was greeted right away (as was everyone who entered the store) and informed that there was a sale going on and not to hesitate to ask if I needed assistance. I ended up taking them up on the offer to help as the pencil eluded me, but they put me on the correct path. Checking out was a breeze and they also told me I qualified for an educational discount of 10% everything not already on sale. All said, I got what I came for (along with a few other items) and was very happy with the experience.

Expect to pay $20-$350 for a piece of pottery. For example, I paid $18 for a small tea bag holder about 3-4" in diameter. An emergency left me in the ER with doctors and nurses asking me whether a small piece of dried yellowish paint was acrylic or oil, artist or other-- I had no idea. The only thing I could think to do was hurry to an art store and ask if they knew. My first stop was Michael's and the glazed over distant look in the employees eyes told me that I was wasting my time there. My brother-in-law shops at Riverside Art so I thought "what the Hell..." After just a few minutes of crumbling, smelling, and diluting they were able, with 100% confidence, to tell me exactly what kind of paint it was. Because of the strange color they were even able to give me a specific brand. Not too bad when all I brought them was a piece of dried paint and a whole lot of anxiety. They took a genuine interest in my problem and did the best they could to help me-- for that I am very appreciative and have been recommending them to everyone who asks me about art or framing.

Very disappointed recently - paid for a custom mounting of a canvas print - I gave careful instructions on my request - when i went to pick it up, I found that the image on the print was bent around the edges of the underlying frame. The painted image just ends in space - When I mentioned this, the young lady was dismissive - " these things get stretched when they get mounted" - Understood. So they actually mounted it on a framework that was too small. Too bad for me. I don't think it is reparable. I dont mind if mistakes are made. Just be respectful.

I can't say I can crochet a straight evenly sized chain yet, but I learned the chain stitch & single crochet. As a leftie, it often takes me longer to learn a craft because watching the instructor can be confusing - but Venus did a private demo for me (and for the one more advanced student she snuck in a lesson on crocheting in the round)! Great class, all around. Now I just have to learn to better control the tension in my yarn-releasing hand. I want to be ready for the new Crochet 102 class debuting in March.
