She keeps all of the yarn in their plastic bags or boxes, which is a little weird and unappetizing. Reminds me of old people who keep the plastic on their furniture. I don't know any knitter that would want to buy yarn from only seeing it in plastic. The yarn selection is all gaudy novelty types - ribbons yarns, sequins, eyelash, all of that stuff. It's all from expensive label companies, but wow to see it all curated together is shocking. This little store caters to knitters of a certain era. And after "someone" sent me private messages calling me an idiot, and then posting fake 5 star reviews on this page, I decided to downgrade my 2-star rating to 1 star.

It is a very warm and bright place on a quaint little town square type area where you could walk to other shops and cafes. I truly enjoyed dropping in here and hope to be back the next time I'm in town! They had a broad selection of different yarns and colors, as well as a range of prices from fancier brands to more affordable staples.

We were overwhelmed by the plethora of choices when it came to fabric, but soon realized we would be paying regular prices for larger remnant rolls. My kids found some fabric that they liked so we had it cut and brought it home. I would like to note that they do require a 1 yard minimum on all cuts. Once we got home and were ready to use the fabric the disappointment set in. Several of the fabrics had permanent marker writing on them and another fabric piece had a big chunk cut out on initial side. I feel like these things should have been pointed out to use prior to cutting and selling the fabric to us. I do not think I will be returning here. I will go back to buying my fabric in the big box stores.

On our way up to Boston we stopped by Bead Chroma (not Chroma Bead? Fair enough.) Well it's a real treat. Huge selection of beads. Really incredible. Beads as far as the eye can see. Arranged by color. So many colors. All of them really Hence the name Bead Chroma. Because chroma means color. I mean sort of. Not to get tied up in the name but it reminds me of those restaurants where you know the owners speak English as a second language and they've googled the word for delicious and ended up with a restaurant called Gratifying Noodle Shack. But very nice store. Well organized. Easy to navigate. Easy to figure out pricing. Lots of findings. No problem finding them (this is actually a coincidence, but a happy one). The woman at the counter very helpful and knowledgeable. There is a little table in the back where people can work on projects and she is available to help. Some high school girls came in at 4:45 and wanted to make bracelets (store closes at 5. Kids am I right? ) she was not able to accommodate them in the store but helped them find everything they needed. This led to a long discussion of the Dana Carvey movie, "Master of Disguise". Quite an old movie for a high school student to be watching. She was a fan. They also have samples that you can purchase or use for inspiration. And a little gallery up front. They had a bowl where you can scoop out a whole scoop of random beads. I was really into this idea. My wife would not have it. She never lets me make earrings. Except one time. From handmade jewelry, clothing and accessories, there is something for any fashionista out there. I also got a calming vibe when walking around. There is greenery everywhere you look, some of it decorative but a lot to purchase. Grasmere is the perfect spot to buy the perfect gift for any occasion (or simply for you! You deserve it.)
