Peter Patchis Yarns is a wondrous oddity. My mother recently picked up machine knitting again after a 17 year break. I haven't been in over 20 years, but when I went today, I instantly recognized the mill and its distinct smell. It's not a cute little shop and there's no knitting circles. No one's going to offer you tea or help with patterns. It's just an open floor space, chock full of all sorts of worsted yarns in an abundance of colors. The vast majority of their stuff isn't suitable for fine, delicate wearables, but weavers seem to have found heaven there. It's a great resource for big projects, as they sell the stuff by the pound. You can't be afraid to get dirty. This place is not for the meek. There are cones upon cones upon cones to dig through. Hike up your skirt and jump in.

This place is the best yarn store I've ever been to. The owner is the friendliest, honest and knowledgeable. The quality of yarn and his prices are unbelievable. I travel 1 1/2 hours to get there and have never walked out without yarn. There is always something new each time I've gone. If anywhere you travel in the Northeast make plans to stop!

There are lots of yarns in this place that are sold by the pound at a reasonable price.

I had a project due for class and was limited on time so I decided to check out Loraine's…read moreStitch'n'crafts because of the local convenience. Entering the store was just bizarre as I wondered around the store for about 10 minutes before stumbling upon two ladies who were working on something in the back. The variety they carry for fabric is extremely limited and a bit pricey, plain white cotton fabric costs nearly $9 a yard. The lady who cut the fabric was just plain impolite and got defensive when asking if she had any other plain white fabric that was cheaper. I received an unwanted lecture from the lady on everything, going off about how people think it's cheaper to make clothes but it's not , and treated me like I have no idea what I was doing. After purchasing the fabric, at that time I should have just left, I signed my name on the receipt in a rush and very abruptly the lady became extremely rude while going off about how my signature doesn't look like the one on the card. She demanded I show her ID before continuing, making me feel like it was my fault instead of just asking like it was a general procedure. Rude and limited the store is meant for people who do crafts and little novelties. I will not be returning here.

From the owner: Welcome to Loraine's stitchandcrafts.com, the online version of my New England shop, Loraine's…read moreStitch 'n' Crafts, where we offer classes, materials, and machines for quilting, sewing and fabric crafts. We have a wide assortment of handmade quilts/quilted items, quilt patterns, gifts, fabric, and books for sale. We also sell customized quilts, made to order. Please call for more information. The idea for my shop, which is located in historic Rehoboth, Massachusetts, started in January of 1989. Dear Husband started renting a store on Route 44 in Rehoboth, and he asked me, "What are you going to do with the rest of the space? I only need half of the 600 square feet." 36 years and 5 moves later I am now located in my own 1000 foot store just 1/2 mile down Route 44 from the original location. We are now located in the Dunkin Plaza. Although the space may have changed, the vision has not. The vision is to help people find fun, relaxation and friendship through old pastimes such as quilting, sewing, machine embroidery, and other fabric crafts. The challenge is to be able to share this love of sewing with people of all ages and let them find their favorite.
