Experience: This is my go to store, I live 8 minutes away. For the home projects that I've done, I have been able to find all the products I need. The store is organized, never too crowded. I've gone to purchase a few frames, for the style I went for, they have had exactly the color and fit I need. I haven't gotten anything custom framed, but I've only ever seen someone back there once. Selection: Good variety on everything! Never a miss Parking: On the weekend when it's busier, I park on the roof of the parking structure. During the week, in the evening, it's super easy to find parking right at the front of the store. The street isn't as busy to, super safe. Customer Service: It's eh. No one will go out of their way to ask you a question or for help, which I don't mind, since I like to wonder. When I have asked questions though, the staff has been bland and blah. They must sell more individual canisters of helium than anyone else in LA. It is terrible. It is a huge waste. There are very few places to recycle helium balloon canisters. I visited the Michael's on La Brea looking for guidance on framing four paintings I recently purchased. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I worked with Maguire in the framing department and felt as though my questions and project were more of an inconvenience than something she was interested in helping with. I came in specifically seeking advice on framing options, sizing, and the best way to display the artwork, but received very little guidance. Most of the interaction felt rushed, and I ultimately left feeling like I had to figure out the entire framing process on my own. I understand retail can be busy and framing can be a demanding department, but customer service matters, especially when customers are making decisions about custom framing and artwork. A little patience and willingness to assist would have gone a long way. In the end, I purchased the frames and completed the project myself, but the experience left me feeling unsupported and unwelcome. As a regular Michael's shopper at 1302 la Brea store, I am writing as a frequent customer regarding management and employee working conditions During my visits, I've consistently noticed that Jovana , one of the managers, is exceptional at her job. consistently going above and beyond for customers. However, I am deeply concerned by how she is treated by store leadership and the lack of support she receives. Specifically, Jovana appears to be scheduled almost exclusively for closing shift without adequate coverage, operating with insufficient staffing at night while the earlier hours have substantially higher staffing level. I understand she was informed her schedule would balance out once a new manager was hired, yet she remains the only manager assigned to close out of five managers at this location. Additionally, it is concerning to see a lack of support from leadership when dealing with team dynamics, which impacts the overall store environment. Jovana is a huge asset to your company, and I want to ensure she is treated fairly and given the resources needed to succeed. I hope management will take proactive steps to improve the scheduling balance and working condition at this location. I do not require a follow-up phone call, but I do hope to see positive changes made for the staff. read more

I ordered online for pick up order, which advised it would be available same day. I was hoping to pick up after work. I waited a few hours still as no emil was received yet until I finally decided to just go to the store to inquire and pick up myself. Turned out it was missed and not ready for pick up. There was 3 people working on balloons, so I simply asked to know what aisle it was in, and I'd get it myself. Pricey, but it's at a convenient spot next to Target and the employees work quickly to get you in and out. They also put air in your balloon if you bring your own, but at a charge per balloon and depending on the type of balloon. It's probably cheaper to buy balloon at the store since there's no additional charge to blow up their own balloons. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Michael's custom framing service. We paid $300 for a custom frame with matting, and the entire process was terrible. When I went to pick up the order, they couldn't find it anywhere in their system despite me providing every possible name and phone number. After waiting 30 minutes, they took a note for the person who worked on the order (who wasn't there that day). The next day, we spent another 30 minutes on the phone for the same person to figure out where our order was, only to discover it had been put under the wrong name. When my boyfriend finally picked it up and brought it home, the frame was poorly done. The print had fallen inside the frame, revealing the white cardboard behind it, and the clamps on the back of the frame weren't even secured properly, and there is no coverage on the back of the frame. For $300, this level of service and quality is unacceptable. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration--go elsewhere for framing services. read more

I came to Michaels looking for painting supplies but I was so excited when I saw a paint by numbers kit! I've always wanted to do one so I just had to have it once I saw it. There's a variety of paintings to choose from ranging from Easy-Challenging. I love Michaels because the store is always clean and the service is always friendly every time I visit. This location is also one of the bigger Michaels that I've been to. You'll probably find what you're looking for at this location! The kit I purchased was only $10, the paint and brushes weren't the best. Some of the paint was very opaque and the brush hairs weren't the most precise. However, I was able to make it work. I think for the price, it was totally worth it! The kit also comes with a wooden display hanger. The painting itself took about 4 days for me to complete but I'm so happy with the results! I recommend anyone who loves art to try out these kits. But I do have to warn you that it takes A LOT of time and patience to complete. They are meant for people with no experience with painting which is also a plus. I'm excited to come back to Michaels and do another paint by numbers! read more

I came to Michael's to buys some props and craft supplies for a photo shoot, soon as I entered the store the security started harassing me, citing my tote bag as issue, but had let multiple other people in with bags. Didn't even mention the bag my girlfriend had. When I asked why my bag was a problem he just said "that's what we do" we pointed out that he said nothing about her bag and other peoples bags and he said he doesn't take women's bags, so he was only targeting me as a male. For the past month I've been on a frames and framing mission. One day after leaving Ikea, I went to the Michael's in Burbank looking for a frame and wound up talking to the person in the framing department because my picture's dimensions weren't standard. Custom framing, she said. Great! I said, and I almost started to do it there when I remembered that I don't live in Burbank so I should probably so this at the Michael's closer to home: The La Brea store. HUGE MISTAKE. In the past 1 1/2 weeks I've been in this La Brea store 4 times, called 3 times and still haven't been able to get anything done. It's been a case of 1) no one is there in the framing department, 2) the person working near the framing department doesn't actually do that work, or 3) the very specific note that the person in #2 left for whomever actually works in the framing department to call me back was completely ignored. Just made phone call #4. Spoke to a guy in framing who said "She leaves notes all the time; usually you can't even read them." Bull. I saw the note and it was extremely legible. Why a retail operation would make it so damned difficult when a customer it trying to give them money is beyond me but here we are. This is one of the closest craft stores to my house. So I appreciate the convenience of having it nearby. Parking is always really easy, and this store is huge, well lit, clean and organized. I did not know this particular Michaels location even existed! It's sort of in the middle of a busy street but in a rather unassuming building structure with the entrance being on the street level. The entrance to the free underground parking lot is off of La Brea. When I entered the lot, the gate arm automatically went up. I went on an early Saturday afternoon, and there was plenty of parking and the store only had a handful of customers around. Although this store is smaller than the other locations, it was well-stocked. There weren't very many employees around, but all the aisles were very clean and organized so I didn't have an issue finding items. I am looking forward to going back. read more

This place is so poorly managed, somehow it takes 20 to 30 minutes to check out with your two cheap items every time you visit. God bless you if you have to pick up a package from the sham of a UPS access point here, it will take 40 minutes for 2 cashiers to find it. What is seriously wrong with these people? They are always having the longest line no matter what time of day, one really slow cashier, and you can't get the help you need. Tried to pick up a package here two times. One time they lost it. The second time, I waited 20 minutes in line with five people at 9 AM on a Sunday. I cannot speak highly enough about Monique and her fabulous customer service. She is an absolute asset to the store. Calling in for items over the phone can be quite difficult. But she understood immediately, knew the color ,knew the item and was able to secure it, and put it on hold for me. Not all Michael's are created equally. You'll know you are in the ghetto when you visit this store. I was trying to put together a few different floral arrangements as I am a photographer, not a florist. In 30 year of shopping at Michael's this store is by far the WORST. I asked for a mirror, not to buy, but to get an idea how the florals would look on camera. NO MIRROR ANYWHERE IN THE ENTIRE STORE!!! I asked a few people and they looked at me like I was from Mars. Had to use the bathroom. Both Men's and Women's were closed. Mind you, I did drive across town to get to this store. Oh but no. Then when I asked about a few more items, the black male clerk rolled his eyes and acted like I was more than bothering him. I was about to purchase a nice healthy purchase, but then I overheard the clerk say he was so annoyed by helping he was gonna go home and unalive him self. Yes, I heard you and gave you the look. I was really happy when I heard this location was opening I've been here three times and every time there has been an issue with their signage not being placed correctly and then they make it seem like I'm stupid for not double checking their accuracy with signage. On top of that they seem to have no knowledge about some of the items they sell. They sold me a defective sewing machine and wouldn't exchange it because it was more than 30 days past the purchase date. I didn't know it was defective sooner because I waited that long to use it. It came with a broken needle. I figured ok just change the needle but when I unscrewed the needle it wouldn't come out. So I decided to exchange it. The cashier insinuated that I broke it and I had to repeatedly explain that it came that way. I didn't want my money back I just wanted to exchange for the same thing. Anyways, I went to another Michaels and they did the exchange no questions asked. I received way better customer service from the other location. The staff is so uneducated about where items are in the store. I came in for a sewing machine and was told by an employee they keep them locked behind the counter. First of all, how am I supposed to make a decision while not being able to see what products are in stock? Once at the register I was told the machines are actually in the back. So to the back I went were there were children's machines. I found a "card" to take to the front of a full size machine only to be told they weren't in stock. I left the store because I was so frustrated at this point. I came back in and bought a machine twice as much and it took two employees 5 minutes to get the alarm off the thing.
