Very clean. Lots of different seasonal items and so many coupons that it's rare that you have to pay full price for anything. Staff isn't always very helpful though. Today I visited the Highland IN location to grab a few needed bakery items and t-shirts for my daughter and I found just about everything I needed no problem there. I got to the self check out and rangy items and oneced finished, I realized I rung up some item that I wasn't meaning to purchase. I pushed the notification for help and waited. That was at 1:36PM exact, I know because my realtor called at that exact time. There was one middle aged female servicing the front counter at register 1. Once her customers left she answered the phone and assisted the caller. She called for assistance with items throughout the store multiple time's. Looking down my way multiple times and never acknowledge Mr. I signaled to her for assistance looked around to see if anyone else was available to help Mr. Yhe line got longer and she would say, self checkout is open, followed by I can help the next person at 1. Then came in my direction Never acknowledged me. I said ma'am I just need a assistance with the one item and I held it up. She said, I gotta do this first and pointed to a box in her hand. I gave her several moments to help assist me but after watching her take customer after customer, I realized she had no intention on servicing me. I got my belongings and I just left, very hurt, very confused and very angry because I stood there patiently and I waited for service and I can't help but feel discriminated against I mean there was no other reason for what I experienced. Oh and my total waiting time from 1:36PM, was 2:05PM when i called and asked to speak with a manager or supervisor got hung up on the 1st time then no one answered. I know my few bucks won't affect your business in anyway and I do patronize about 4-5 times out the year but Ill never come back again l. Plenty of people working to help you with your shopping needs. You may need to find someone if you need help but, they are willing to walk you to the item(s) you asked about so you can make your selection. They always seem to have holiday decorations well ahead of the holiday. The prices on the holiday items are reduced as you get closer to that holiday but, so does the selection as the inventory is not unlimited. read more

Do not go there for their balloons. I have been twice and the same results: they don't stay up for even 24 hours! The first time I experienced this, which was 10/4/25 at around 10:30am, I picked up my balloon order and they started to fall down by about 2am the next day. Yesterday at around 6p 10/11/25, I picked up another balloon order (hoping that the first order was just a fluke) and literally this morning at 7:30am, multiple have fallen down. I'm entering a pic of how they looks already. I'm just confused how dollar tree balloons stay up for months, no exaggeration. read more

Nice products but dirty store not well maintained that took my rating from 4 to wanting 2.5 Stars. I can't stand a store with dirty floors. At 12:30 PM just a couple of hours after the store opened on a Sunday, why would it be so dirty (see pics). It is amazing how a negative experience can affect our shopping. I live 5 minutes the store and a negative experience I had with an associate at the store that I shared with the manager on duty kept me out of the store for the last year. I recently went to browse since they have great diversity when it comes to Christmas. I really enjoyed the selection. Hobby Lobby could certainly learn a lot from the diversity that their competitors like Michael's, At Home & and Lowe's has delivered for the last couple of years. Michael's really needs to add cleaning the floors, and shelves to their daily regimen. read more

I was not impressed. There is NO floor help to be found anywhere. Customer service is an unknown quantity at Michael's. Don't give me the excuse help is hard to find! Baloney! Michael's competition sure can find adequate staff and keep them on the floor. Needless to say, I spent way too much time in a store looking for something they didn't carry but should have.. Magnetic paper sheets. The dollar stores have more store help than this place! read more

I was so happy to find that Michaels did curbside pick up because I have 2 young ones at home. I called when I was outside and was hung up on twice. Then I went into the store I was promptly yelled at that they are doing the best that they can when I asked if someone was working curbside. Then I let them know about the phone and was yelled at also. So I just got in line and waited. I'm an essential worker also. But the difference is don't offer curbside if that's not what it is. That's not stopping the spread of anything, and attitude doesn't help. read more

Have not been a fan of this location any time I had to go there. Never seem to have what I need. The other store in Merrillville always has what I need. They seem to keep a good eye on what stock is needed. The Highland location is just not as good. I went for oil paints around Christmas time and someone broke the case and took all the paints. I have been back twice since then and they have yet to restock any of the paints or even fix the case. I have had to travel to the Merrillville store twice even thoe the Highland store is closer to where I live. Seems to always be understaffed as well. Hard to get help from anyone there. read more

My local Michael's I visit often... Sometimes more often than others.. I recently tried out the new order online pick up in store. Having a toddler, it does make it easy on me to just run in with him and pick up. The process was easy for on-line and well as in store. Though my first attempt at pick up in store, I did get the wrong color frame. But was easily fixed when I grabbed the correct color. I'm sure this will be something I use from time to time, even when I'm trying to get certain items. So 4stars as of now. read more

I have shopped at this location for years as it is the best we have around. It stocks lots of normal everyday crafty things and of course whatever is "on trend" at the moment. I agree with so many of the other comments about the customer service. It is REALLY horrible, that's of course you can find any. I went there Saturday with my daughter for Easter stuff. At the register our cashier was a girl named Jasmine that apparently had to much social texting to do that ringing us up was not worthy of her time. Seriously!!! If ANY of the people that worked for me had EVER even LOOKED at their phone, or for that matter, had it turned on in their pocket while at the register there would have been serious consequences. OR maybe I should be congratulating Michael's on their sales being so good it doesn't matter if you don't actually give your customer service in a service industry. There are too many other options out there to even entertain this nonsense. The only reason I didn't walk out with my head hanging down in shame for interrupting her texting is the fact my daughter found what she needed and it was too late to start over somewhere else. read more

A decent selection of craft stuffs close to home. I feel that some of their items are more expensive here than at others. They do have many items on sale and they do have coupons so that helps. I won't buy any jewelry pieces unless they are on sale because it always figures that I buy something at full price and 2 days later it is on sale. This location is clean and it is newer than the Merrillville store. It seems to be organized better as well. read more

I placed an order online to pick up in store. I had to wait for the although there was no one at the pick up counter. I didn't check the bag before leaving. When I got home I realized the it was the wrong item. I live in Lansing, Il. The Schereville, In store is not around the corner. Called customer service and the answer I repeatedly got was to take it back to the store. I'm a long time customer and felt there should be another alternative rather than having to drive 10 miles for a return and wait again. I was told again to bring it to the store. As far as supplies go, this is fine, but be prepared to hunt for anything yourself. The staff is non-existent and bring a whole new meaning to SURLY. I went to pick up a $500 order of pre-paid picture frames. The store was empty of customers,( mid-morning--wednesday) yet, we had to resort to shouting for help. A very disgruntled 'Pedro' showed up, clearly put-out and very sarcastic and condesending. He deigned to retrieve our order, could/would not provide any cardboard corners to protect our frames ($500 worth!!). And strolled away. I won't return to this particular Michaels. There's always Joanne Crafts, should I find any need for crafting items. read more
