I live up the street from Ace Hardware. It's my go to place when I'm doing Home projects. I have a major Home project going on now and I've went to Home Depot three times within the last four days and each time I go I'm not a carpenter or a plumber and when you asked for assistance, the person that's supposed to assist you. It's rude. They should have the knowledge that you don't have but it's like you bothering them. I don't understand and this is the first time that has been like this at Ace Hardware. they have everything you want, but they didn't have an item and the guy was so rude. My favorite hardware store I go here whenever I can, rather wandering aimlessly through the big stores hoping to find my item or help. Visiting this local Ace Hardware, located off the intersection of Broadway Avenue and W. 93rd Ave in Merrillville, Indiana - near the Speedway and the Jiffy Lube with the remarkable street art - was a highly pleasant experience! I could spend hours combing through their shelfs looking for deals and discounts that you can only get by stopping in for yourself to see. They always have sale items. Staff is friendly and helpful. Would recommend. Only problem is getting in and out of parking lot. No biggie!!

Do yourself a favor and go to another store. This place is rude and ignorant. The way they treated my husband and I was unacceptable and I will be contacting corporate. I wish there was an option for no stars, heck I'd throw in negative stars! Little backstory, I used to work here for a solid 2 years. In fact, my mom used to work there too. We damn near ran the place. I loved every person that I helped and the vast variety of items that were sold. Management was incredible at first but then it turned into an absolute toxic workplace and environment all around. I enjoyed the job due to the fact it was a family run place (obviously) and it was very wholesome. Oh how those tables quickly turned. They run the place to make a quick buck, they don't genuinely care about the staff nor the people who spend their hard earned money here. I mean seriously, go check their google reviews. Everyone in terms of management is a pushover when it comes to confrontation. They'd rather sit there and take it than defend or praise their workers. Jeff should've been gone long ago. He's got more complaints than I have time to type here. Tim is a pushover who thinks he owns the place but can't talk to the real owner Anthony face to face about problems amongst the staff, but my mom wasn't the team player because the two other remaining full time cashiers are absolute dumber than a box of rocks idiots and can't do the simple job of being a cashier. Funny how that works right? Anyways, I urge you, if you've made it this far, please spend your money elsewhere. This place is way too overpriced due to their "demographic." Go to the Home Depot and get yourself a hotdog or a different Ace Hardware (ie Munster is way cheaper than this toxic wasteland). Thanks for coming to my rant! read more

Was there in January 10, 2022 and they were out of item, no biggie, so yesterday(February 17, 2022) I check their website and it's showing the item is in stock so toady(2-18-22) I stop in and no item. The whole point of the trip there was to get this item which isn't some obscure item but a pretty common household item so I ask one of the sale associates that the website says the item is in stock and if he could look and his attitude was "if it's out of stock at the display they don't have anymore and I'm like but your website say you have them as he just walks away....smh! Truthfully I try to buy local but not anymore, I'll give all my business to Amazon from now on and by the way Amazon will have it delivered to my doorstep on Sunday so I don't want to hear about supply chain issues.
