I went in to buy glass to replace some that had been broken in my door. They were super helpful. While one man went to cut my glass the other employee was chatting me up like an old friend. Other customers came in and we all talked together like neighbors did 40 years ago. I came back the next day to get something else I had forgotten and again, I was treated so well and they helped me with the product I would actually need rather than the one I thought I did. Would give 0 stars if I could, kind of hard to get any customer service when you get told to leave at the same time you are pulling in. Online says 5:30 close, worker insists it's 5 o'clock closing. But the problem is......................IT WASNT 5!!!!! It doesn't matter if you just opened, mid day or even 10 minutes from closing. If you are open, you should be just that.... OPEN AND READY TO HELP YOUR PAYING CUSTOMER! Absolutely shocked to have a man come out the store and wave at me to turn around saying they are closed. He was very rude and seemed happy to piss me off. VERY VERY LAZY STAFF. Try coming when they just opened, or better yet, just don't go there at all. read more

The wife and I have been going there for over 40 years. Yesterday my wife went there and noticed that the "wear a mask" sign was takin down. When she asked a male employee, he got in her face (without a mask) and told her that they don't have to wear a mask. Not one employee was wearing one. He then said that the owner doesn't believe in wearing a mask. We will never go there again. FYI, the mandate is still in effect through November 14. How are we supposed to support local businesses when they don't care about they're customers! I tried posting this on Facebook yesterday, but guess what? It's not there. read more

I took a window screen here today to be replaced. I am shocked!! It was $9!!! Ready in 20 minutes!!! Last year I took one to the Ace Hardware in Crown Point. They charged me $40 and I waited 2 weeks! Lindy's Ace Hardware has never failed to provide superior service and expert advice and assistance. The staff is knowledgeable and never fails to walk me to the proper location in the store and show me the options for sale. I have traveled 10 miles to consult with the staff about a problem I was having. I go to Lindy's for knowledge but the bonus is that oftentimes their prices are lower than the big box stores. read more

Ace IS the place!!! It's your typical, or a-typical, hardware store depending on how you want to look at things. They have everything. The store seems very small at first, as you walk in. Then it seems to expand, and expand, and expand. Each aisle seems to lengthen with each step you take. I don't know how they do it! Okay, maybe it's the friendly help. They say hello and ask if you need anything, or what you're working on. They take you right to where you need to be, and show you the right product the first time around. They give you what you need, and not what you don't. And you know what? They know what they're talking about!!! If you need an allen wrench, you don't need to explain to them what you're looking for. You don't have to receive the blank stare, and then the, "Uh, I think they're over there in the wrench section." They surprise me with what they carry. They will help you along on your project, or get you started in the right direction. Anything you need, they'll have it. If they don't, which I find hard to believe, they will order it for you and call you when it comes in! For me, it's close by, and super handy. I'm willing to bet that most folks would drive out of there way to stop by. Try it, I'm sure they'll have it! read more

Instead of shopping at a big retailer like Home Depot, I went to Ace. Instead of being helped by a "knowledgeable expert" I was helped by people that clearly did not want to be there or assist the customer. Having worked in HR for over 10 years, whoever hired this "manager" did notable the customer treatment into consideration. Very disappointing! read more

Today I had a flat tire on my bike as I rode from Chicago to Coloma, Mi. Even with planning I didn't have enough Co2 to fix the tire. That's when I searched out a hardware store and found this Ace Hardware. Remember the old ads, "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man?" Well this was the model they were thinking about when they wrote it. They had what I needed and even had some special valve adapters I never expected they would carry, good for back up in the future. I went out front to work on fixing my flat and the guy came out and invited me in to use their compressor to make things easier. I can't tell you how much that made my day. I travel this route on occasion and will stop there to buy whatever odds and ends I may need, just because they are so darn nice! read more

I go here when I need quick parts for a leaky faucet, or whatever. It's close and convenient with a community atmosphere. They have a pretty good selection of commonly needed items. It's more convenient to breeze in here than browse the aisles for an hour at huge hardware warehouses. Their real strength in my opinion is the helpful, knowledgeable staff. Most times when I need something I walk in, get greeted right away and asked if I need help, tell the guy my idea and get led right to what I need. I'm out of there and fixing stuff in no time. Lindy Ace Hardware is not your typical Ace hardware store and a full service hardware store unlike the superstores like Menards and Home Depot. They have a team of knowledgeable staff that will help you not only gather supplies for your project, they also have insight in how to do it. They do window and screen repair and can even make a storm window or screen for you. The have an inventory of hard to find parts specific for your plumbing and other needs. The price is higher generally, with that cost you get experience people that know what you are doing and a reputation dating back to 1963. A highly recommended niche company full of problem solvers! Much more than other smaller hardware stores that offer light bulbs, extension cords and garden hoses. If you can't find it at this Ace, you probably won't find it at any other hardware store. read more
