We were invited to take a trial class today, it turned out marvelously as my little one was able to get individual attention and step-by-step guidance from Phebie. She can't stop talking about what she learnt on the ride home and of course she can't wait to come back. Phebie is a natural teacher in sharing her love for knitting. The shop is a beautiful space showcasing rare talents for an art form that is sadly often overlooked by mass produced quick fashion of the season. The yard shop is within the Claremont packing house, acai bowls, coffee, lunch, bookstore are all within the building with free parking next door to boot, it is a great place to spend a day.

The workshop far exceeded my expectations in terms of ease and information! Michele was super knowledgeable about the materials/paint/techniques, and it inspired me to start dabbling into the idea of painting some of my own furniture. Or at least some of my own pieces rather than buying them at Hobby Lobby! :p It was super easy to pick up the materials, and there was more than enough leftover for using the materials for another DIY project. Great place to come as a group and enjoy a bonding activity! My work organized coming here as a…read moregroup for team building and get to know each other. Almost everyone chose to do one with a couple exceptions. Even if you didn't do one you were able to seat with the group and interact. They have a vast variety of options and definitely something for every person to enjoy! The prices vary by the sizes of the items chosen and once you choose something, you select your colors. They have a guide to show how the will look after cured since the colors don't look the same as when you are applying it. They were only out of 1 color which wasn't a big deal. You get to choose up to 5 colors but since we were a big group some shared an extra color or two with others. We had about 2 hrs to work on it and once we were done we left them. About 1 week later the organizer brought the finished products into the office. This is a fun and unique experience for those who don't mind getting a bit dirty. The paint does easily come out with a wash so no need to worry.

Secondly, they have a very limited amount of items. I couldn't find a plain bowl or a normal shaped plate. They only had silly things in shapes if lemons or hearts. I had to settle on a cup. The last tip of the iceberg is service. I think they need to hire different girls, because all three of them were not nice nor know customer service. They don't greet. They stare until I stated what I wanted. When we started our painting, she didn't get us paint or refill. We weren't debriefed on what to do. Luckily I've been to different Color Me Mine before, so I knew the gist of what to do. Yet, the service here is very much lacking. I don't intend to come here again. I don't feel welcomed to spend my pretty penny here.
