My visit at Michael's Cafe was great! The wait time for a table was 45 minutes. I decided to set at the bar. The bar staff Greg, Melissa, and Chase were by far the nicest and friendliness. I ordered the crab drip for appetizer. It was delicious and a little spicy. For my meal, I ordered the crab cake with fries. The crab cake was all crabmeat! We left another restaurant due to an extremely long wait and found ourselves at Michael's Cafe. We've visited the location in Timonium several times so we thought we give it a chance. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was even better. The greet at the front was excellent and professional, and the service from Caitlyn was out of this world. Service was a 5, but only because our server Chandni was AMAZING! Atmosphere was a 1. I felt like I was sitting in a cafeteria with 100 of my best friends I've never met nor did I want to. There was a snooty couple sitting diagonal from us who kept turning and staring. The tables to each side of us I literally could have reached out and touched. Any of the reviews here that say this is a great place for a special event or a romantic dinner are dead wrong. My husband and I felt as if ever word we said to each other we had to whisper, which was difficult because the music from the bar that tricked into the dining area was blaring very loud for a 5:00 dinner time. Food was a 3. We intended to order oysters. Luckily we looked at the oysters the couple next to us ordered (which wasn't hard to see just a foot and a half away) I've never seen such a small oyster for $2! Lib's grill's $1.25 oyster is 3 times the size. Instead we ordered a calamari appetizer. It came with jalapeños which would be fine but they were breaded and fried then mixed in with the calamari so you didn't know what you were biting into until it was too late and it made for an appetizer that was more jalapeños than calamari. I got the lobster roll and my husband got the crab imperial. Both were ok. Not bad but not great. We needed to ask for old bay because they were so flavorless but the imperial did have large chunks of jumbo lump. The lobster was good quality but the butter was more oil than butter. No flavor at all. All in all ok but not worth the price and annoyance of the seating arrangement so we won't return. read more

My bff and I went here for brunch and had a great time. Our awesome waiter Bill recommended the French toast and it did not disappoint! The melted marshmallows were a fun touch and surprisingly the dish was not overly sweet. The savory shrimp and grits warmed my bff's soul. The large shrimp, veggies and red sauce atop the cornmeal grits made for an extremely flavorful dish. And then the mimosas... because is it really brunch if you don't have mimosas?!?... We opted for the $11 unlimited mimosas (with cranberry juice) and Bill never allowed our glasses to be empty!.. All in all, we enjoyed Michael's Cafe, including the amazing decor and we'll definitely be returning. read more

I don't have a picture of my meal because i already ate it. The meat was cooked thoroughly, and was surrounded by a sea of gravy, mashed potatoes, spinach and onion crisps. Met a group of friends for our monthly dinner tonight. A few of us arrived early for happy hour at the bar. The bartenders were prompt and polite. Drinks were delicious. We enjoyed the unique sassiness of the Moscow mule on draft. We wanted a snack to go along with the cocktails and enjoyed the house made chips. Great bang for your buck. For dinner our group chose a variety of options including the scallop and grits, seafood club and burger. Everything was appetizers to dessert we're delicious. 1st off, lemme say - 'Jackie' - working the takeouts was AMAZING! Incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Now onto the grub. 1) Greek Salad - Had all the fixings with delicious pepperoncinis on the side. I wish there were more veggies. the cucumbers, olives, onions, feta were all relatively sparse. The cucumbers were waterlogged. Never fun eating soggy cukes. The tomatoes were plentiful. Once I cut them up, it helped add flavor to the salad. The most interesting part was, while the veggies were sparse, I got a handful of anchovies. Who eats a handful of anchovies ... EVER?!?!? YUCK!!!! They could have kept ALL the anchovies & given me more veggies & cheese. That's for sure. and the 2) Caesar Salad w/ Grilled Chicken - An INSTANT HIT! He devoured that salad and the grilled chicken like he never had food before. I was a lil jealous actually (lol). It was a HUGE salad, with LOTS of cheese, good amount of dressing and I think it had bread (unsure. It was gone so fast) 3) Shrimp Salad Sandwich (w/ chips) - When I normally get a shrimp salad sammy, it's ALWAYS overflowing, nearly busting out. While this sammy was quite delicious, it certainly wasn't overflowing. the few pieces of shrimp kept sliding out (thanks to the slip & slide condiments known as lettuce & tomato). Sooooo Michael is my favorite spot this far! The food and service has yet to disappoint me. I've got favorite bartenders and favorite seats. They have updated their seasonal menu. They have seasonal food and cocktails. I've tried the BBQ peach wings and they were bomb!! The new summery cocktail are a plus!! If you sit at the bar. I hope you get a chance to meet my favorite Bartender Mickey. He knows his spirits and mixes them effortlessly!! We have visited several times since the last review and we are happy to see some improvements. - HAPPY HOUR: So happy to see they expand their happy hour menu! The tacos were flavorful but very greasy. We provided feedback to our server who said they were a new menu item, so hopefully they just need some tweaking. Even so, happy hour is a great improvement! - PRICING: Still overpriced for the location. While I understand and appreciate the upscale concept, the entrees are so grossly overpriced that we only ever order apps and sandwiches. I simply refuse to pay $22 for a salad or $32 for rockfish. - MANAGEMENT - The manager sends to be there consistently and makes the rounds checking in with guests, which is nice. However, he has never introduced himself to us even though we are there regularly, seated at the bar and are acquainted with one of the bartenders. - SERVERS: We always sit at the bar, so I can only comment on service there. Service has been wonderful for the most part. Bartenders really know their stuff and make great handcrafted cocktails. Aside from one guy who had the WORST attitude after a fellow dinner asked what I was drinking and if I liked it, to which I responded, "it's okay". The bartender overheard and literally never came back to check on us. We're even had to ask a different server for our check because he refused to make eye contact. But I do consider that an anomaly for this place. Overall, things have improved, so we will visit when in the mood for fancy cocktails and small bites, but it's still not our "go to" place. read more

I enjoy everything I've had. The brussels are great the only thing I don't like is the blue cheese, but that's just a personal preference. You can ask them to remove them if you'd like. I chose this place because it was across the street from the shooting range where I wanted to celebrate my birthday. I could not have chosen a better date and time to visit this location with my family and friends. From setting the reservation to having surprise guests pop in...the staff was AMAZING and ACCOMODATING. Nelly was phenomenal and handled the additional guests with grace and made sure everything was taken care of all guests was happy. I have NEVER had a group event function as smoothly as it did. I am a stickler for clean restrooms and with the amount of guests that were in the restaurant they were spotless and smelling fresh each time I went in one. I have always loved Michael's crab cakes but today when I went there for lunch I was very disappointed. I know the price of seafood has skyrocketed so I didn't mind paying $31.00 for the single platter because they are usually full of lump meat and very tasty. I asked for a broiled crabcake but received a fried crabcake and it was more filling then crabmeat which was very disappointing for the price. I only saw two lumps of crab meat in the entire crabcake. My sister ordered the fish and chips and the fish was very greasy, she had to use a napkin to wipe the grease off of her plate. Last night my husband & I had dinner with 2 very close friends of ours to celebrate one of their birthday. When we arrive at the Michael's last night we realized that our reservation was for the one in Timonium. However extending their common courtesy guest services gave us table anyway. The table was ok but it was bar stool seating and hard on our backs. So guess what the Manager on duty named Mickey whom is extremely professional & nice offered us new seating after asking. It was a wonderful gesture as we were first time guests of Michael's Cafe. The food was excellent, drinks the bomb & the staff was very professional. Wasn't sure what to expect with this place. Went with friends and we all loved it! Katie was very attentive and took care of us. We never had to ask for anything. Our drinks were always topped off and she made sure we were always happy. The food was not only beautiful to look at, that's why I took pictures, but tasted delicious. I had the rockfish with jasmine rice, loved it! Both managers actually visited our table throughout the night to introduce themselves and make sure everything was ok. Hubby thought it was a tad loud in the dining room between the music and the people. Hard to have conversation at the table. The decor is nice and the bathrooms were pretty cool. I'm in town for business and stopped by this hidden gem. The short ribs were so tender and moist. They paired well with the garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. I did ask for extra gravy on the side. We were looking for a new seafood spot for my husband's birthday so my sister recommended Michael's Cafe. From the moment we entered, the experience was stellar. It's not hard to please us but so many restaurants do by forgetting simple customer service. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and she showed us to a huge booth near the bar. Oh and don't get me started about the bar! We aren't drinkers and I almost wanted to sit there instead because it was so large and inviting. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. We ordered the calamari and wings for our appetizer and we really didn't need anything else after that because both were so good. My husband had the crab imperial and didn't absolutely love it. I had the shrimp salad sandwich which also had a crab cake stack on top. Very tasty but I will try something else when we come back (because we will definitely be back). read more
