They've always been friendly and helpful. The reason I've taken off 2 stars is the departments seem to big or too small. The yarn selection is ok here. The type of yarn I use for the items I make for whatever reason is not carried at this store. And the yarn department is much smaller than it is in North Olmsted. I understand that store is much larger, but some departments are just too large. To many of their yarn selection is sold only online. I cannot feel the yarn or see the actual color online so I go elsewhere.

They have one whole aisle dedicated to model cars and the paints, glues and other materials needed to put them together. If you are looking for a fish or gerbil/hamster tank then they have a lot to offer. Ben Franklin's has a lot of great castles and rocks to put inside of fish tanks. They also have a lot of accessories/cages for birds as well. Venture down into the basement and into Neptune's Cellar. They have a great selection fish food, fake fish tank plants, tank accessories (rocks, sculptures, etc), and all of the stuff you need to set up a tank. They also have a great selection of fish. A hidden gem in the basement of a small little store in Amherst, Ohio. Neptune's cellar is great and worth your time!

I miss the stores of old filled with models,trains, cars, and rockets. The owner was in the store and was more than happy to reminisce with me about our childhoods. Also, at a time when the store was full of of hobby items. So why five stars? I'm not sure about anyone else but for me service is key. This is one of those places where even though he wasn't going to make a sale he treated me like I was purchasing a million dollars with of gear. So at the end of the conversation i asked if I could come back and hang out and he said I could. So on my way out of the door I was informed that he could order anything I want and he will work with me on pricing. Really I'm buying local just for the customer service.
