Whenever I need plants or bushes. I choose to drive to Avon and visit this location. This place is huge. And mostly under cover. The last time I was there it was very rainy. So having the cover made it so much easier to choose what I wanted. There are some things that are outside. But the majority of their products are under cover. The prices are not that bad. Very much in line with a garden center. The staff is friendly when you can stop them from running around. They are always moving and helping people out. read more

I had a great experience working Antonio, he helped me choose a variety a shrubs for my yard. Very intelligent and well versed in his Plant knowledge. However, I am leaving only 2 stars due to a woman who was checking people out. She was yelling at a customer in front of me. It appeared the customer was only trying to help but this woman whose name-tag read Doreen, was being demeaning and down right rude to this poor customer who almost looked like they were tears. What I don't understand is how good America and NE Ohio has been to this family and then they crap on us by supporting the same country that brought us a global pandemic. So I'm a fan of supporting local businesses...my usual place to purchase a live Christmas tree was closed and that left me thinking of where else to go besides a big box store. Thankfully, Petitti's came to mind! I've always had great luck with seasonal flowers, hanging baskets and shrubs in the summer from them, so I thought I'd give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a good selection of Fraser Fir trees, which is what I typically buy. A few employees asked if we needed assistance while looking and we eventually decided on "Miles Davis" - it's really cute that they name their trees. The employee that assisted us gave us instructions to pay at the counter and meet them outside for pick up. He offered to make a fresh cut and clean up the bottom branches for us, which was appreciated. Petitti's has a reputation of high prices, but honestly, the tree was the same cost as the local nursery I have purchased from in the past. And I know Petitti's always has great quality. Great garden center with great selection all year round. Not only do they have outdoor plants, they also have indoor plants organized by light requirements. Staff has always been helpful and polite when I have been there, and if you see my porch and backyard, I'm a frequent garden center visitor. They do sell patio furniture, but it's more high end than let's say going to Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

This spring we purchased several pieces of patio furniture from Petitti's Garden Center in Avon, OH. The total cost of the purchase approached $4,000 but the amount is minor significance. I must clearly express that the purchase i.e. interacting with the management was totally lacking in professionalism and attention to customer service. It lacked many of the aspects of sales, customer relationship management and responding to customer concerns that I learned and managed during 40+ years of business dealing with customers, COO of a large company and teaching such business principles at the college level. Our initial venture into purchasing the patio items began and ended with the Avon Store. My wife and I saw several pieces that we liked and asked for sales assistance. The attending sales person was very nice and informative but was at times preoccupied with excitement after receiving an Easter bonus from Mr. Petitti. I mention this because she missed my clear affirmation that our purchase was not for our main residence but for our summer vacation residence located about 25 miles West of Avon. That became a point of contention as I will explain later. We saw the first set of pieces we liked and ultimately agreed to purchase them. We than decided to add a matching "end table". The floor model was the only one available. However, it had a scratch and, naturally, we asked about a discount allowance. That was refused. OK, that is the policy of Petitti's we stated! After further discussion, we than thought about an "Ottoman". None were available at the Avon store, only a picture. We asked if they could locate one and they did...in Bainbridge, Ohio, almost 40+ miles away. Again, we inquired about bringing it to Avon. That was refused. We would need to buy it first, sight unseen! OK, that is the policy of Petitti's! We decided to drive the 40+ miles to Bainbridge and look at the "Ottoman". Our typical preference is to purchase after we see an item recognizing this is contrary to evolving contemporary sales practices. In short, we saw the "Ottoman" and agreed to purchase the only floor model...again. Since it was on the floor and subject to more than customary usage and not out of the box, we again asked for an allowance. That was refused. OK, that is the policy of Petitti's! AGAIN! We than inquired about "covers" for all pieces except the table. We were advised that they were on back order but they would certainly call us after taking all of our contact data. We agreed. A few weeks later my wife was at Petti's on an unrelated errand and saw the covers were in and purchased them even though Petti's did not call. In fairness. We did get a call a couple of weeks later after we made our purchase. I guess better late than never...as the saying goes. When all of the pieces except for the covers and "Ottoman" were brought into Avon for shipping, I went to pay. At that time, I was told that "Shipping" may be $100, $150 or may be higher pending the number of men to unload 4 chairs and a small table and the location! I related that I was informed it was $50. Of course, I was told of the proverbial COMMUNICATION misunderstanding. I questioned this and referenced the sheet of paper the sales agent had notated with the price and shipping charge. They, of course, could not locate it. No problem...we had a picture. They refused, however, to honor the documented shipping price without the approval of the Store Manager, Mr. M. H. I asked if I could review this with him. He did agree, and agreed to reduce it to $75. I thought and tried to explain and clarify the total context of this purchase with (1) the purchase of the scratched table and no allowance, (2) the soiled floor model Ottoman and no allowance AND (3) now the revisionist history in the amount of shipping charges. I even attempted to work with him and set a delivery date that would coincide with another shipment to that area so the incremental cost was minor. His stunning response was, "You don't have to purchase the items"! Somewhat surprised at the response, I tried to further explain that I understand a need to make a profit but did not understand the need to grab every last dollar as a company policy and business model! He repeated again that "You don't have to purchase the items"! Never in 40+ years have I heard this and dismissiveness to be an effective model for customer relations. I finally asked for his "direct report" and was given MR. K Z in corporate. I called to review my experience and, of course, confirming my sense of the company's sales' philosophy and approach, he never returned my call! read more

I have been a customer (exclusively) for nearly 30 yrs. I have been buying my plantings (annuals, perennials and trees). I bought 6 rose bushes at $36 each paying top dollar feeling I would get the best possible quality. 2 of the six plants survived! I got them at Petitti because they used to have a one year guarantee on plantings. Apparently roses are only 30 days?! They were all planted in the same hugh bed, using the same planting methods, watering etc... the 2 that survived are thriving??? I emailed Petitti twice, no reply!!! I called them and was told roses are only warrantied 30 days!!! so I am out $150, lesson learned!!! Their customer service and warranties are NOT what they used to be! read more

I'd give it a zero if I could!!! I bought a very pretty artificial tree covered in fake snow. I put it all together and got a rash all over my arms then the top 1/4 of the lights went out. I called to return the tree and was told they were very sorry to hear about my rash but it's an open product so either 15% restocking fee or they could fix the lights on the tree. We went to do what they suggested for the lights and can't even get it apart. So now we both have rashes and fake snow all through our house for a tree we are returning. I will never shop there again!!! read more

I know it's a very stressful time for everyone. I accidentally left something I purchased on the bottom of a cart. I drove back to the store as soon as I discovered it. It wasn't on the cart in the parking lot. I went into the store and stood between the two desks that look like customer service desks. Both people were on the phone. I waited. As soon as one of the clerks was off the phone, the one on the phone waved me over to her. So I approached her. That woman told me she was on the phone. No one had fifteen seconds to politely say sorry, no one turned it in. I hope the customer who took it enjoys it. I probably won't go back to Petiti's soon. read more

I'm very disappointed in Petitti's Garden Center. I bought three standard roses for my front bed, a Peace rose, a Love rose and a JF Kennedy. Less than 2 years later, two of them have reverted back to a wild rambler. I have 30+ years gardening experience and the roses were very well taken care of. All I can think is they were not properly grafted. They are a Star rose brand. I called their Avon store where the roses were bought and I was told the best they could do would be to give me 50% off new roses. No thank you. I'll begin shopping at a nursery I can rely on. read more

Who could not love this store. The interior is very stunning and is depicted like what is advertised on the local radio stations. The plants are wonderful and if you like your items cheap you will have to wait til there is a sale going on for a good deal otherwise most of everything that you will find there is on the expensive side. This place is amazing! I was looking for a Hydrangea Quick Fire tree after I accidentally let deer eat my first one (I have no green thumb.) I love this store because they always have ample staff willing to stop what they're doing to help you, they're always extremely friendly and knowledgeable. This place is huge, with basically anything you could ever need for landscaping/gardening and even more adorable handcrafted home items. The amount of plants can be daunting, so I always grab someone and ask them if they know where what I'm looking for is. I super nice guy helped me pick out the hydrangea tree and got me a cart when I realized I hadn't gotten one. All their plants are very well labeled, and even have images so you can see what it will look like in bloom. After I grabbed my tree I found someone else near the inside of the store to set me up for success with a deer wrap and some plant food/soil. She was excellent, so personable and just really fun to work with. What a great experience. I even grabbed a cute dog treat for my pup at home. And to top it off, when I got to the register, the (also super nice) woman grabbed me a catalog that had a $10 coupon in it, which she applied to my order. She also recommended their ladies night, something I have to check out! They always offer to help pack up your car, too, which is a huge plus. The day before I went to Petitti's I had checked out Gales on Center Ridge and Walter (right next to my house.) I was seriously so disappointed in them. Not only was there no one on the floor to help me, but their Hydrangea tree was $110 (compared at $80 at Petittis - and that's not counting the coupon.) AND, when I went up to the customer service desk to inquire if they did a price match, the older woman at the counter completely ignored me and was complaining to another worker about...who knows what. I left that place completely upset. I am SO glad I made the drive on 90 out to Petittis, and you will be too! Highly Recommend! read more

I have been visiting this nursery many times and I have kind of mixed experience about this place. My ratings for this nursery for each aspect are: Place 5 stars - this nursery is pretty big. They have good selections for outdoor furnitures and knick knack. Their planter and plant selections are also very large. I always spend at least 3 hours at this store. The staffs alway keep the place well-organized and clean. Service 3.5 stars - I am not sure that it is because the place is so large that they have a staffing issue. Many times I visited this place, it was difficult to find a staff for help or provide suggestion on plant selection. One time I had question about plant selection and pricing, so I walked to one female staff and asked for help. She was not very nice at all. She made me felt like I bothered her time. I came back home with frustration, but I decided to give this place another shot. Maybe I just had a bad day. A couple weeks later I went back there again. I met another female staff who provided a lot of useful information on plant selection. She was so friendly and very helpful, and I was very impressed with her help. So, after this visit I know that not every Petitti's staff were mean, but it would be best if every staff are friendly and helpful like the last female staff I met. With the fact that not all customers were patient like me and Petitti's is not the only nursery around the area, the store manager must pay very high attention on improving the staff's eagerness to help customer, knowledge about plants, and their friendliness. I think this place has a very high potential to be a to-go nursery for people living in Westlake and Avon if the staff issue was improved. Quality 5 stars - I am very impressed with the healthiness of their plant. The staffs do really good job in taking care of the plants. All the plants I bought from this place always do very well at home. This is opposite from the plants I bought from Home Depot. It was not that all plants I bought from Home Depot were bad, but I randomly experience buying a very unhealthy plant from Home Depot, which I never had one from the plants I bought from Petitti's. Price 3.5 stars - Their plants are a bit more pricy, compared to other places e.g. Home Depot. However, as I mentioned, the healthiness of the plants that I purchased from this nursery is not questionable. Those plants always did great at home. So, it is just like trading off. You pay a bit more for quality. (Tip: Apply for Petitti's membership to get your rewards. It costs you nothing to apply and you will get $5 store credit for every $300 purchase.) Overall, this nursery is a good place if you are looking for a place with a wide variety of plants, planters, and outdoor furnitures. However, you may have a hard time getting help from the staff since the place is so huge and everyone seems to be busy doing their own tasks. So, it is ideal if you stop here and know exactly what plant you want and have no need for suggestion on plant selection or planting information from the staff. read more

I have several smaller nurseries near me, but excitedly decided to make the drive to the large Avon Petitti's thinking they'd have a bigger selection and knowledgable employees. I was sadly mistaken, and won't be returning. In addition to being hard to navigate to find what you need, there weren't many employees around to ask for help. Those we did come across did their best to avoid us. When we did corner one for a question, she clearly had no idea what she was talking about. We asked about a product, and she told us they didn't have it and to try Home Depot. We then found a (albeit small) selection of the product on our own. They seemed to have more patio furniture and decor then actual gardening supplies. We didn't find what we were looking for and will stick close to home next time for friendlier, more knowledgeable service. read more

I've been to the Avon location twice within the past week. Both times, they called to have someone help me outside by the shed. No one ever arrived. The first time I figured they were busy and I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I did want to ask some questions, but I just looked around and left. I decided to go back last night to purchase. Last night two female employees working in the greenhouse avoided eye contact with anyone and everyone passing by. One had to call for help for me and it appeared that it was a burden for her. I felt like I had interrupted her work. Again, no one showed up to help me. When I exited, there were numerous employees up front talking...they were clearly not busy. I needed 6 bushes at $40 each...well, they lost my business. I won't go back to this location. read more

This place has a huge selection of plants. If you want to have more in your yard than what the local hardware stores offer go to this store. Prices are a little more, but the plants tend to be of a better quality than from other stores. I now live in Port Clinton, Ohio. As a retired Horticulture from Mentor, Ohio I pass many other Garden Centers. Petitti Garden Center in Avon is first class in my book. I wanted the best in patio furniture. Thats why I bought there because of the QUALITY. Much, much better than the box stores. When it comes to trees, shrubs annuals and perennials they have the newest all american varieties that will outperform old fashioned plants. You pay more for these varieties but the breeding and selection process rewards you with outstanding performance for years to come. I always walk in with pictures in my phone of what area I'm working on, then I read the labels on space requirements height, width, season of bloom,etc. I then am armed and able to ask intelligent questions. With the pictures in my camera and Petitti's staff has made suggestions I had not even thought about. For me still life is always a learning process. Any time I'm in the greater Cleveland area from Port Clinton I make it a point to stop even if it just a 15 minute quick walk through. I am never disappointed. read more

Went there today for help in picking out plants or bushes in a shaded part of my front yard saw lots of employees but not one ask if they could help me finally just walk up to one for help what a mistakes he was too busy doing nothing so ask him if he could find someone willing to help me,he said he called someone but no one showed never again.
