Ordered a special Art Project for a guest to do when visiting. The original Delivery Date was suppposed to Wednesday, they were leaving Friday morning. Guess when it arrived? Thursday night. Not sure how it switched at checkout and why but they also wouldn't let me cancel it. I paid $10 to have it delivered the wrong time and day. I love craft stores in general and Michaels has a large variety and inventory. When I need motivation or inspiration for my art projects, I can usually just walk through the relevant aisles and buy some new paint color or something. Needed to get two paintings framed (one watercolor on paper and one acrylic on canvas). Tiffany at Aaron Brothers (back of the store), took the time to help me make design decisions and make me feel comfortable with the choices. She even waited as I texted my husband some questions. Tiffany called me 3 days before the estimated date of completion, that they were done. I'm very happy with the final result. read more

I went in to pick up my online order (order online and pick up in store). I was there right at opening and the girl who opened the door to let me I. Was so rude she didn't even greet me...she acted like I inconvenienced her by having her open the doors at 9am. I greeted her and apparently she is just not a morning person. I then encountered 3 more employees that weren't morning people either. I was able to pick up my order in a timely manner. I will continue to shop at the NE Heights location. i waited months to get two pieces framed and they not only damaged the artwork, they refused to honor their so called insurance policy. the manager tried to gaslight me by saying the highly reflective glass was actually non-glare museum glass despite the fact that it obviously is not. I ended up having to pay significantly more to another Michaels to fix, including adding a giant mat to cover the bend where they jammed it into a corner. If you're looking for custom frames, ask for Stephanie. Yeah, we went the pseudo-cheap route, in that we didn't buy original art work. We wanted to deck out our newish home with some faces of our favorite artists and thinkers, so we went wandering through the interwebs jungle and found fineartamerica.com, which had some pretty dope, affordable prints (Neko Case, Dalai Lama, Prince... yesssss). I figured I'd really score by picking up some cheap-o frames at Michael's and quickly realized that our prints came in unconventional sizes. That's when I asked the woman behind the counter, Stephanie, for some help. She was terrific. I knew, immediately, that I could trust her to creatively customize colors and nail the right frames, and she spent a good 45-50 minutes with me, individually working through each print, finding deals and discounts when possible, and honoring the artists who created the work. In the end I dropped a lot of cash on the job, but quite honestly, it was worth every friggin' penny. This store has some of the rudest employees and managers that I have ever dealt with. I am a handicapped, senior citizen. I went shopping there several weeks ago and walked the entire store late evening when I checked out self service I was as I was leaving. I was told I could not take the shopping cart out to my car. After 45 minutes shopping in the store, I could barely walk. My leg was having issues, I explained to the cashier who I later found out was the night manager that I needed the basket to get to my car. By then two other store employees had come to the door and told me I could not take the cart outside. So I took my bags out of the cart. I turned to my daughter and said I would shop at Hobby lobby. They allow customers to take the carts out to the car. These employees were not too far behind me. My daughter and I turned to see who was following us to find out. It was the employees who snicker and sneered at us. on the way home my daughter called back to Michael's to ask for corporate phone number we were told they could not give out corporate phone number for this incident on the phone and started yelling at my daughter. My daughter yelled back and hung up. I called back and asked for the managers name and number and what time she would be in the morning. At this time, the person on the other end told me she was the store manager so I asked for the district manager's number again I was told they could not hand out this information. At this time, I made the decision to take all my stuff back to Michael's for a refund, and then I would never shop there again. When we got to the store, they were waiting on someone. I waited until they were done and said I was here for a refund and then I would not be shopping Michael's again. at that time an employee walked up and handed me Michael's corporate number and introduced herself as the manager. She looked at my daughter and started a conversation. My daughter got a little heated store manager got a little heated. I stepped in and said I'm just here to return my stuff and that I would not be shopping because there were no signs posted that carts were not allowed out the otherwise I wouldn't shop there. The store manager told me if I had when I walked into the store and told them I was handicapped and needed additional help they would have helped. The store manager stepped behind the register and started returning the items refunding me my money and told me that my handicapped doesn't allow for special privileges and that she was handicapped. She proceeded to pull her shirt up and expose her bottom of her left breast scarred, my nine year-old autistic granddaughter who was with me to the point she left the store and ran out into the street Street the store manager apologized to me not to my daughter. That night I came home wrote an email to Michael's corporate office and followed up in the morning with phone call. I have yet to hear back from this was four weeks ago. I called Michael's corporate office to inquire as to the status I was told the district manager spoke to me. I told them no no one from Michael's has called me. The lady, I spoke to assured me they would call me the following day four weeks later still no response from Michael's. Michael's does not handle very well nor do they take care of the elderly and handicap from now on all my business will go to their competitors, Hobby lobby, who are compassionate, caring and look out for this particular population. I gave us a one star though I'd really like to give it zero stars. read more

Today, we went to Michael's to look for a donut pan. They didn't exactly have what I was looking for. We made a quick loop around the store to see what else they had and left. As we were leaving, the woman at the cash register said in her walkie talkie, something along the lines of "they are leaving now"... Apparently they were watching us the whole five minutes we were there. We didn't have a basket and I had a small purse. I Love michaels. That being said, I hate this one. There were not enough cashiers and I've definitely seen cleaner. But what was totally over the top for me was when the sales associate/manager with spikey black hair accused me of theft by asking if she could hold my items for me before I exited. I had put everything back and was leaving because 1. My kids were not having it anymore. 2. The line was long. 3. There were not enough cashiers and it looked like the line was going to stay long. If I had items, I would not have been leaving. Poor passive aggressive customer service skills. Hire more cashiers and clean the place up. read more

This review is all about the folks at the framing shop in the back of the store. I took a precious print in to have it framed, and I got absolutely super customer service, and a beautifully framed print. Its so beautiful, that I will definitely post a pic after we get it hung up in the house, I'm just waiting for B to get home and help me hang it. Anyway, even though pictures speak louder than words (especially pictures of pictures), the best I can do right now is words. Stephanie spent a good 45 mins with me and patiently helped me pick out the very most gorgeous frame for my print. She had great ideas for frames. She obviously knows what she is doing when it comes to framing. She also listened closely to what I wanted, and was very good at suggesting things in the direction I wanted to go. She even took a look at the artist's work on line, and used that to help guide her suggestions. I was very impressed. The framing itself was beautifully done and I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the fellow who said he did it, so I could give him a shout out too. He did a really nice job, despite the fact that I had stored this special print in a tube for some time (Bad Morgan!) and it was wanting to curl up like a sleepy puppy. Anyway, I'm super pleased with the results and I can't wait to post a pic so you can see what I mean about how well it came out! read more

Huge, well stocked, lots of choice and its always very clean. The downside is that its horrifically expensive, making your craft projects rival the cost of store bought items, and sometimes exceed them. The staff is only somewhat helpful, as they often make significant mistakes and don't really know where everything is located. The lines at the registers can get long so be prepared to wait to check out. read more

I hate this store. Every time I come here I have a terrible customer service experience. Today I was looking for someone to unlock the paint cage and there was nobody on the floor. I went by the employee break room and there they all were, laughing and talking. I didn't want to bother someone who is a break at their minimum wage job, so I went about 50 feet further, thinking someone at the framing counter would be able to help. Only, there was nobody there. I called out, and I know I was heard because someone in the break room got up and closed the door. I walked all the way yo the front to ask someone for help. I shouldn't have to do that! I guess they can be as crappy as they want to be because they know the only other game in town is Hobby Lobby and I wouldn't go in there even on a dare. So rock on terrible staff and you do you, while I spin my wheels hoping one if you feels like being helpful. read more
