No reason to support local businesses if they rip off customers. Only buying online from now on. My brother went to buy some new LiPo batteries for our slashes and was directed to buy batteries the employees claimed would work with our chargers. This was after my brother showed them the old batteries, the store employees claimed there would be nothing wrong. So he spent $150 on two batteries when lo and behold they don't work with our chargers. He goes back for a refund and they have no sympathy for putting us out $150. The same employees only suggest buying the correct chargers for an extra $70 each on top of money we already spent. Awful service and no thought. Bought two batteries off amazon for $40 and couldn't be happier. Good riddance. read more

All the guys there are very friendly and know their stuff. I build plastic models and they are always available for advice.

I went in today on a whim and was surprised to discover that in addition to the RC stuff they advertise they also have a really nice selection of Gundam model kits, in 1/144 HG/RG all the way up to the 1/60 PG (there was only one of those, but still), and there were even a few that I thought would be fairly obscure like a 1/100 MG Great Mazinger and an SD Shin Getter. They have a good selection of the Gundam Marker kits too, and are getting more of the official Mr. Color paints and accessories in too, and the guy who's name I forgot (I know I'm terrible D:) seemed really knowledgeable and said they've been doing a pretty brisk business on those and getting new kits and paints in weekly. It got me super hyped to tell people 'cause I'd never heard anyone mention this place when I've asked about local places to buy these kind of niche things. So, if you're looking to get into gunpla or are someone who's been building a while and would rather support a local business than import stuff online, go give these guys a look! read more

Online buyers beware! I live in Wyoming , I placed an order from them online. They sent it by U.S. mail. It went to Los Angeles Ca., then to Queens NY, then Flushing NY, and the last the USPS couldnt verify but said it "May be in Denver." I never received the item . That was back in January. I filed a complaint with Walmart (I ordered from them on the Walmart.com site) they forwarded the complaint to "Hobby Proz" . Hobby Proz responded saying they were sorry and that they would send a replacement order. They said they sent it but I haven't that item either, it's now mid Febuary ! I've not received a confirmation yet nor a tracking number so I can't even track that second order. I will not buy from Walmart .com again nor from Hobby "Proz" as they apparently are unable to do business in a "pro"ficient manner. I know it's not their fault that the U.S. mail is so bad at deliveries but knowing that they should use a reliable delivery service like UPS or FedEx . read more

Excellent shop! I found it while looking for supplies to build and paint my model. They have the biggest selection of quality acrylic and enamel paints in Albuquerque, including Vallejo and Tamiya. Hobby Proz also has special metallic paint as well as the usual cements, thinners, varnish, various tools, and more. The at Hobby Proz made me feel welcome. I had several questions that a nice gentleman answered for me and left me feeling informed and confident in my purchase. He prevented me from buying air brush paint when I was looking for brush on paint and directed me to the right bottle. Hobby Proz also has lots of spare parts for RC enthusiasts, model train tinkerers, and loads of models including jets, tanks, trucks, helicopters, and more. Bobby, at Hobby Proz, sold me a defective AFX race car track last Christmas. On Christmas Day my child and I were stuck with a 175$ plus tax gift that ruined our only day together of that year... Mr. Bobby refused to return the set, he insisted I contact the distributer myself, which I reluctantly did. AFX sent him a new track complete in the box, still Bobby would not refund my $. Instead he said he would sell the track and once he did he would then return my $. He sold the track SIX MONTHS AGO!!! I found out over Thanksgiving while he and the assistant manager Brian were away! He never contacted me, and now refuses to refund my $! My child never got a Christmas present... Bobby. Is this post worth 250$ ? Treat your customers with the respect we deserve, or you'll have no customers! read more

This is one of the few businesses that I can safely and accurately call "customer hostile". There is one employee that actually reflects well on the store, and that person is Brian, the older gentleman who is usually working on cars right by the front door... but the problem with being the only knowledgeable person in the store is that he is usually too busy to help customers. The staff knows so little about their jobs, that when I asked about whether a particular charger would work with the battery that I had previously purchased (from THEM, by the way), the employee actually shrugged and deferred my question to a fellow customer who just so happened to be knowledgeable on the subject. The employees are not only poorly versed in their jobs, but will also make you feel unwelcome from the moment you walk in the door. On several occasions I have wanted to ask a question about a product, and made direct eye contact with a member of the staff only to have them continue showing YouTube videos to their friends for 15 minutes. I actually feel like I am bothering them when I go in there to spend my money, which is not how a business should be operated. And this has not been a one-time deal. I have been to this store on multiple occasions, every time thinking "maybe they were just having a bad day", only to be disappointed. In addition to having poor customer service skills, the location is poorly stocked. The canned answer you will get when you start a sentence with "Do you have..." is "Nope!" -- in fact, I actually had one employee say "No" before I had even finished describing the item I was looking for. The reason I went to this store in the first place was because I was tired of ordering from China and waiting a month or more to have my items shipped to me. I was actually willing to pay more if it meant getting my items quicker... but after my experience with Hobby Proz, I will be going back to ordering from Chinese companies, even if it means waiting longer. All in all, Hobby Proz is a terrible business... but they could potentially be very good. The staff is killing the business, and if they ever fix that problem, the store has potential. read more

I went on a Saturday afternoon. I was met immediately and asked if I needed help. I explained my drone transmitter was not powering up. I was shown the person with experience with them. He looked everything over and seeing no settings that were a problem upened up the power supply holder and removed it. He them tested the plug end. It was not getting power. He tested all batteries and found them to be good. Anyway he looked for a part with no success. So I ordered a new battery for $10 and didnt go buy a new transmitter for $100. Good guys, please support them if you have needs. read more

Hobby Proz is probably the best hobby store in the Albuquerque area. Don't be fooled by their website, they carry more than just R/C stuff (which is their main focus). They also have a wall of plastic model kits, with enough variety to keep you glued for a good half-hour. Their selection of aircraft, armor, ships and automotive kits are pretty decent compared to other stores in the area. Pricing is pretty competitive. Their closest competitor could very well be Hobby Lobby (a Michaels style general arts and craft store) just down the street. According to the owner, this is the preferred store of the local IPMS club so that says a lot about their selection. Definitely worth a visit when in the Albuquerque area! read more

If you are into RC fliers then this is your place. The staff is very nice and professional and answered all my questions. They have a big selection and from what I could see the prices are fair. You might be able to save a few bucks on Amazon but I prefer to support my local hobby shops and small businesses. I was very impressed with the store and how it is ran and will be a loyal customer. This hobby shop is awesome! I took my nitro rc car there to be serviced there because I couldn't get it to start and they fixed it in less than an hour. the service fee was super cheap. Very knowledgeable staff. They always have a great selection and their prices are very competitive with the other hobby shops and even online stores prices. Very unprofessional. Walked in to employees making fun of a child because he made a mistake wiring. Also the markup on the products are outrageous.
