It's a cool building, staff seemed in their own world. Not sure if it is good value or not. They seem to have live events from time to time and I was pleased to ceil a Sid Haig appearance poster on the ceiling from a few years ago. read more

Made a quick stop at AZ while I was in ABQ. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.

A small, fun comics and action figure store. All the comics on the back wall are new, so if you're looking for a new release, head back there. Of course AZ has older comics as well, and they additionally have Funko Pops, Matchbox cars, and action figures/toys (both in and out of their packages). The space is tight and it's hard to get around if there are other patrons browsing, but it's a fun place to look and see what they've got if you're into comics and associated toys. The shop associates are willing to answer any questions you've got. I got two one-shot Star Wars comics celebrating the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi releasing in theaters. I'm looking forward to returning to look at some of the other comics they've got. read more

Stopped by while in the Nob Hill neighborhood of ABQ to get a quick fix of nostalgia. The store is packed wall-to-wall with all sorts of toys, vinyl, comics, etc. Some new, some old, so you get a little bit of everything to geek out to. We had already stuffed our suitcases with finds from the trip, so this was a brief browse but enjoyable nonetheless. People there were friendly, ready to help if needed. Next time I wouldn't mind spending a little more time digging around to see everything the shop has. read more

Very catered to a variety of genres and styles so I think this is an ideal comic store for anyone from a beginner to semi frequent comic book reader. The service was excellent and friendly and the selection was very good: great back issues, variety in new comics and tons of graphic novels. I really don't write many of these, however, after my experience here I feel like I have to. If you are on the fence at all about stopping in here, get off that fence and get your ass here! I stopped in looking to replace some of the Godzilla figures my son lost in the Tubbs fire in Santa Rosa last year. Not only did they have some, but the man who helped me was extremely helpful, kind, and informative. I believe his name was Chris, but I could be mistaken. Not only him, but two other gentleman who work in the store were the exact same way, and if he forgot anything they were there to help him with what else they may have. If you have even a passing intrest in pop culture you should stop in, and if you are Godzilla fan you MUST stop in. I really can't thank the staff here enough! read more

What a fun place! We come every time we go to ABQ and leave a little cash poor, but with a bunch of new vinyl, comics that aren't anywhere else, and fantastic geeky toys. Was really disappointed they talk so highly of this place..so I took some comics to go trade or sell. I took my transformers collection the owner or manager didn't even have any knowledge of the comics I had..I had the transformers issue #1 he didn't even know he said it's a reissue and his co-worker had to interrupted us to tell him that was issue #1 and plus to make things worse he tried to lo ball me big time. And when I spoke with him on the phone he said yeah bring the comics and will tell you the value of them...heck NO he just just tried to take advantage like I was hurting for money.. not going back!!!! Comic shops have been dropping here like flies. Priced out of cool neighborhoods, smashed by bookstore/online competition, declining since the 90s heyday, just like the industry itself, just like record companies/record stores. I kinda wish comic shops in general didn't have to become toy stores. It's too bad the reality doesn't allow for enough money or comics for their OWN sake, sans tie-in merchandise, movies or gaudy gimmicks... I miss those kinds of stores. I just want comics. They are harder to find and more expensive than ever. That said: this place is the real deal for the hip nerd, and pretty much the only game left in town that is worth it. TONS of trades/graphic novels. Not just the high profile stuff, but a wide selection. They have the cheap table, they have the obscure toys for Japanese shows you've never heard of, they have the back issue bins to scour. Some things they DON'T have: the trashy piles of unorganized junk. The steeply priced coveted items that aren't really there to sell, but so the maladjusted owner can show off. The bitter, hygiene-deficient, scoffing "comic-book-guy." I do not miss those things at all. You can take your girlfriend or kid here and not feel creeped out or ashamed. The staff is informed, gregarious, have taste. You'll be treated better than those jerks at the hip record store will treat you. It's almost like real people are allowed to like comics. read more

I need to preface this with "I don't read comic books." I saw this place out with a couple of people and it reminded me of the comic book store from Big Bang Theory. One of the people in our group wanted to check it out. This store was neat to poke around and see all of the comics, memorabilia, and collectibles. It can be a bit overwhelming with the huge amount of stuff packed into the small space, but the staff is approachable and knowledgeable about their inventory so that's not really a problem. read more

I have been to this place twice on two separate occasions and have always been impressed with what they have here. The first time they had a very nice selection of psychotronic films for rent which I was very pleased to see! The second time,several years later it seemed like they changed their focus and had it more on action figures and manga which was equally cool! Went there for the first time with my friend and a Barbie doll fell on her head and one approached her. Mind you that we were at the front of the store and there was a cashier behind us. Afterward, people looked but no one addressed the situation. The outside wall of art with just about every superhero is a tourist dreamscape. Once I was inside, I was captivated by all the figurine memorabilia. Being a comic nerd myself, I found myself perusing their huge selection. But the fact that I was running late for my flight was the biggest downer from my whole trip. This was a very nice store to visit. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They had a large amount of toys, t-shirts, records and a fair amount of comics. The location was very easy to find. The outside of the building is awesome. They took time to paint the outside of the shop. That makes you really want to come in and see the place. The only down fault was the older books they have in stock. They were on the very top of the shelf. You can only reach them if an employee climbs the ladder for you. Being the collector I am I don't know what might be in stacks on the shelf. I might be missing that key issue I want. I want to look at every single one but I don't want the employee getting a nose bleed from the height. read more
