I've been lucky to call Dr. Yung my go-to dentist for a while now. He's genuinely a funny guy, and an even better dentist. He really goes above and beyond for his patients, and that's evident in the care he puts into providing honest work and exceptional work. You can really tell that this dentist takes good care of not just his patients, but his staff as well. A captain is only as good as the sum of the crew and the ship. Actually back in the day, my relative needed some help with dental work. Some reconstructive dental work had to be done for sure. Sure enough, Dr. Young didn't hesitate to help him out in a jiffy, being quick to tend to his needs upon next visit. Today for the first time I was told my appointment had been unilaterally cancelled by his office because I didn't reconfirm an appointment I made just two weeks prior. The appointment, that I set up child care for and missed my sons baseball game for, was cancelled without notice. Everyone is very nice. They know how to treat children. The office is very clean. We love the big aquarium.

There are three important things you should know about this establishment: 1 - the quality of work is substandard. We had to return multiple times for dental work that fell off/out. Often we were handed off to an assistant. 2 - the office staff are disorganized and unprofessional. After multiple issues w/ incorrect schedulings and other general office issues just this week the office double charged me over $2k and it took several days to have the money returned. 3 - Their new cancellation policy. If you cancel or miss you appt you are responsible for 1/2 the cost of the visit. It's not a $50 cxl fee it could be thousands of dollars. As a first responder I could not risk that work wouldn't call me in unplanned causing a last minute cancellation that would cost me $$$$$. I'd look elsewhere for quality and caring dental work and service. read more

*** I STILL HAVE ALL OF MY TEETH! *** Kidding asides, this is by far one of the best dentist office I've been to. They have been able to keep my oral health at optimal levels. My last review was in 2016, though i've been going every few months so the following serves as a six year update. Jason & Dr. Yung have been able to address and field concerns that I had, including some interesting questions that have come up about oral hygiene that I otherwise would have not known much about. Also, they have been quite helpful and have kept up their elevated sanitization practices since the start of the pandemic including extra air purification devices, and other safety measures including social distancing within the office (as much as possible). All staff wear personal protective equipment (PPE) along with protective barriers where you would expect them to be in a medical office. Hopefully, this helps some people out there in the market for a dentist in the area! read more

Be careful - after deep cleaning, this clinic will never give you regular cleaning in the future! As long as you are visiting this clinic, you have to pay extra for special treatment as it is not fully covered by insurance like the preventive regular cleaning, in your lifetime. I went to see Dr. Yung because of right lower side of tooth pain. He said it is jinjuvitist. He prescribed antibiotic for a week and told me to go back to see him. Then he took over hundred x-ray, used needles to check each tooth. He referred me to see a periodontist and told me to redo what I did before even there are no problem. He billed Delta Insurance 3 diagnostic procedures in two weeks exceed the allowance. He did not tell me how much the treatment would be and how much was co-pay before he did what he did. He did not find any problem besides jinjuvitist. read more

Dr Yung and the staff who work on patients are great. The front office and insurance employees are the reason I left. They were never able to tell me my out of pocket cost prior to work being performed and once I was billed, it was higher than I've ever paid. This was the first dental office to ever tell me they couldn't tell me what my out of pocket would be. Months after deciding to leave I got bill stating I owed them $90.00. When I called to question it, I was told it was a balance that 2 insurance providers did not cover. When I disputed it, they said they would remove it. Mike Yung DDS is a great dentist and philanthropist. He made my last crown with a 3 D grinder while I waited! Saved me a whole other appointment. When you are also a busy doctor like me you appreciate time saved. He serves with two groups that fly to Mexico to treat the poor. He not only does dentistry on the poor on his own time and materials expense but he serves on their boards of directors too. He has a great family and kids. Plus he went to USC dental school. Been going to this guy for the past 3 years or so.. It took me a while to pick out a dentist because I was picky about who would be diggin' in my teeth. He is an EXCELLENT dentist-- very personable, offers good advice, and has a super friendly staff. He's young, professional, and came from one of the top dental schools here in the US. I've recommended 3-4 friends to him and they all love him too. If you're looking for a good dentist in the Pasadena area-- I high recommend him. I just recently went into Dr. Yung's office with some pain, discomfort and an infection I had developed in my molars from previous broken crowns. His staff was very friendly and welcoming, I was very embarrassed due to the reason for my visit (I haven't seen a dentist in years.) Since the minute I made the appointment till I stepped in his office and left his office my whole experience was warm, great and excellent and I was no longer embarrassed about my teeth. The front office was nice and clean and the office Manager Norma was very friendly and professional as I checked in. She even introduced me to Dr. Yung as he was in the front office area talking to her when I 1st arrived. The assistant Alondra gave me a tour of the back office once she called me back in, she was very friendly and asked me a serious of questions off a questioner to get to know me. Soon after I was given a full x-ray panel and Dr. Yung seen me afterward. Dr. Yung was very friendly as well, 1 of the friendliest dentists I have ever seen, he explained to me all my options and carefully went over everything with me in great detail as to my understanding. (There's a lot of work I need due to putting off routine cleanings and preventive dental care over the years.) Next, I was given a treatment plan that was carefully gone over with me with the office manager Norma, she is the kindest soul I have met in a long time, she understood my financial situation and reassured me not to worry because she would be able to work out a payment plan option with me for all the dental work that will be needed over the coming years. Last but not least I was given a new welcome patient gift and I loved my experience so much that I now have an appoint this Friday for a cleaning back in Dr. Yung's office. Seems like a competent dentist, but its all about the money. Went in as a new patient excited to get my teeth checked after not having insurance for some time. I have a PPO plan. Their website explicitly says they accept PPO plans and they are a "premier provider." I could have sworn that when I called in to make the appointment I asked if they were in network for me, of course his office disagrees on this point, so who knows. But after getting there I give them my personal and insurance information as new patient. I eventually get seated for xrays, and WHILE I'M SITTING IN THE XRAY CHAIR the receptionist comes up to me with a spreadsheet of numbers explaining what this will cost. Under my current plan, I'm not supposed to pay anything out of pocket, so i figure this is just a procedural thing. Granted, maybe I should have understood more about how dental insurance works, but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. At this point his office knew that If I were to go elsewhere I wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket, but if I proceeded with the appointment it would cost me significantly. They did not tell me that going elsewhere would cost me nothing out of pocket. I feel intentionally mislead. The appointment went fine. But his office had information that could have saved me a lot of money. I feel a halfway decent office would have told the person that they could be paying nothing out of pocket elsewhere. 11/09/2018 Here's my update... Yesterday the veneer Dr. Young installed fell off while I was biting a cuticle. Ok I know I shouldn't bite my cuticles, but I was barely nibbling. Only 5 years in...even though crowns veneers supposed to last 10. New Dentist said my veneer was not made correctly. That the veneer should have actually been made as 1/4 crown and had an envelope on the underside of my tooth. So it would stay on. New Dentist adhered my veneer on but warned since it wasn't made properly, it could fall off again. I wished I had never set foot in Sr. Young's office. I'm now worried all the crowns he installed in my Mouth are wrong, poorly made, poorly installed and I am going to have problems the rest of my life or until I get remade. This is not a joke. It's peoples fucking teeth. read more

I have absolutely no problem with the professional (in the chair) service. My issue is with the administrative staff. I lost track of days and missed an appointment. When his office staff called I asked why they did not just call at that time since I live five minutes away and would come right over. The response was "it is not our responsibility". I was with my previous dentist for over thirty years and they would always call the day before the appointment to remind me and would never have been so disrespectful to a patient. I requested that the Doctor call me, which never happened. Therefore, I have no choice but to withdraw my business. Today was my first visit with Dr. Yung and his amazing team. I was blown away by not only their professionalism but how they are handling seeing patients during this current pandemic. A day before my appointment I was called and asked a few screening questions and told about their protocols. Instructed to call upon arriving to the parking lot. They told me when to come up and someone greeted me by theirs stairs to have me sanitize my hands, checked my temperature and oxygen level. I was seen within minutes of arrival. No waiting around like other offices. The very nice assistant gave me a tour of the office which at first seemed weird but actually ended up being a great experiences. They also gave me a new patient gift to welcome me to their office! A coffee tumbler. I was seen by the dentist and had x-rays taken. Then the hygienist April did my cleaning. She was very sweet and professional. Very soft handed. One of the best cleanings I have ever had. I needed a retainer since I recently had braces removed. They were able to accommodate me into their schedule to have a retainer done so that I wouldn't have to return so many times. I drove an hour to come to this office after hearing great things about them and let me say it is worth the drive for me. I highly recommend them. I don't usually write reviews but after my experience today I felt the need to share how amazing this office is. From the front desk staff to the hygienist and assistants. You're greeted outside by a friendly personal, temperature checked and just a few questions asked regarding COVID before going inside.
