It just so happens that I am looking for a new dentist and I ran across Dr Michael's info on Google. I am in need of a new dentist now because our old dentist in Bensenville sadly passed away. Maryann Michael is probably the worst dentist I have ever gone to in my life. I went to her several years ago when I had severe pain from a tooth that went bad, It had to be removed. She removed it, but I noticed even at this first visit ever with her, she was impatient about how long it took for the anesthetic to start working. But a short while after the tooth was removed my pain was gone, even later that evening. So a few months later I had a different problem with a tooth, so I went to her again. Big mistake on my part! She had to pull another tooth, and she was having extreme difficulty pulling. When she finally removed the tooth, and the anesthesia hadn't worn off yet, I was still bleeding a lot. When I went to check out and I told her I was still bleeding and in pain. She said (very snarky) "Oh you'll be alright". That was my last visit to her office. read more

I have not slept ever since I was seen by her! I am leaving her and will never comeback! I had the worst experience in my life.. I feel like I'm going to have PTSD over this! I came to her as a second chance because of her good reviews online. I showed up for an appointment yesterday not knowing what she is going to do with me. I arrived and the staff told me we are only doing the fillings- so okay..nervous because the last time she cleaned my teeth she hurt me. As we were talking about the fillings she asked how my bad root canal tooth was doing. I said that it did still bother me. Then she insisted we are pulling it out today instead! I was so shocked, i said NO! i wasnt ready for that. But she kept manipulating me, I feel harassed and cornered. I didnt want her to pull my tooth out but she said its for my health so I hesitatedly agreed because she is the doctor. I trusted her though I was hesitant and told her NO. Soon as the anesthesia was done she was going to pull it right away. I was shocked again because normally anesthesia takes 10 minutes or so to get working. And when she started, I felt pain! i told her and she kept telling me "it was just pressure". But in reality, it hurt like the bothering pain i would feel. After she was "done" she left a little sharp tooth hanging in my mouth!!! I noticed afterwards with all the gauze in my mouth! I cried!!!!! I dont ever want to go back to her, even if she fixes this for free! Now I can't sleep because i think about my experience!!!! My cheek felt the sharp little tooth hanging! I hate myself for coming to her. I cannot believe this is happening to me. My previous dentists never forced me to do anything that made me uncomfortable. I had to raise my hand multiple times to Maryan Michael because of how uncomfortable it was.. I've never closed my eyes and squeezed so hard during a dental visit. That was my 4th tooth being pulled out in my life and the worst ever. I literally cannot sleep and thats all that was running in my head while trying to sleep. This office is in a hospital and only ONE staff member looked put together. Maryan Michael's assistant was dressed unprofessional (wore a hoodie). Also, Maryan Michael's uniform was a mess. It had a rip on the side, as if it got snagged or someone grabbed onto it & it ripped. The light that is above you during procedure was taped up. Everyone did not look clean, groomed or professional but ONE person behind the desk in her scrubs. I would not recommend this office to anyone! I would steer clear!!!!" read more

I saw Dr. Michael a little over a year ago. When I went I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years, which I admit is bad oral hygiene practice. The cleaning and x-rays went well. No complaints which is the only reason she is getting this second star. The dentist informed me I had seven new cavities and needed all my old fillings removed. It took two appointments, plus an additional appointment to "fix" some of the fillings, for her to destroy the right half of my mouth. I still have issues with flossing and can't chew on the right side of my mouth. I should have gotten a second opinion... I am just thankful that I only got my right side "fixed" instead of every cavity/filling she recommended. read more

I need a ton of work done, and it's going to be extremely costly. Dr. Michael is working with me to make sure I can afford it. She is also extremely friendly and personable. She just did two root canals on me and I'm going to need two crowns. She's always concerned about infection. I'm lucky to have found such a caring dentist. To the person that has an infected bump, it may not have been infected at the time Dr. Michaels looked at it. You yourself should have asked for a second opinion or stressed the importance that it was to you. read more

My prior dental work was for basic cleanings, only two cavities and removal of all four wisdom teeth. Two previous dentists and an oral surgeon could not get the novocaine to work more than 20 seconds on me. I only got through the wisdom teeth extraction due to being under anesthesia; I woke up to a hell of pain. Enter Dr. Michael's with a thorough explanation of her qualifications and how she wanted to approach my dental work. She dealt marvelously with my clinical anxiety and ended up doing a deep cleaning and two fillings. She numbed my mouth fully for approximately an hour, explaining everything as we went. Her assistant Lisa was great too. My partner has been seeing her for over a year now to deal with some issues. We've dealt with some delays but those are outside her control and rescheduling is handled in a very timely manner (within a week). She has done all our cleanings herself thus far and develops a rapport with her patients that I've never had with previous dentists. I'm used to just seeing them during a brief review of my x-rays and they poke around my mouth for all of 30 seconds. Not so with Dr. Michael, she's in charge of your dental care start to finish. read more

I think this dentist should not be practicing. I recently moved to the area and went to see her and she made an assessment and exclaimed "you need alot of work." I have had appointments every 6 months and had had a fine appointment on my last visit. She told me I needed a root canal immediately and I had the work done. I did not get numb quickly enough for her and without warning, she gave me a shot in the roof of my mouth which was very painful. She barked at her assistant the entire procedure and had absolutely no bedside manner. She mentioned several times if I moved and broke her appliance, it would cost me thousands of dollars and this made me more uneasy. I never went back for the completion for the permanent crown. I went to a new dentist that said my teeth were fine and there was no work needed. This woman is horrible, mean, disrespectful and rude. I would never recommend her to anyone! read more

My rating for Dr. Michael is zero!!!!!She is the worst ever. She is rude, unethical,incompetent and probably a crook. I went to her for a loose tooth. One loose tooth and requested also a crown on one tooth that previously had a root canal. She extracted the tooth that had the root canal and extracted 3 additional teeth without my knowledge or permission. She also said I needed a lot of other work. She did some crown work that fell out within a week. I went in for the replacement and they fell out a second time. She also messed up my billing. I was charged twice for the crowns and wasn't given credit for all of my payments. They promised to straighten out the billing mistakes, but never did. She also is a big liar. read more

Haven't seen a dentist in over twenty years. I'm amazed with this woman's kind and gentle nature. She helped me and my wife who's scared to death. She is honest and straight to the point. She explained my insurance benefits and coverage completely. I needed a lot of work after twenty years. It wasn't painful at all. I'm so grateful. She works late hours too. So I didn't have to miss time at my job. If you want an honest doc who does great cosmetic work go see her. She's great. read more

Dr Maryann Michael, is the best dentist in Illinois, hands down. I've been through a hand full of dentists in the neighboring area, and I have to say from my initial visit, Dr. Michael earned my business for life. I am person with very high anxiety and trust issues, especially when it involves my health; however, now I love making an appointment with Addison Dental Associates.. Dr. Michael is the most professional, kind-hearted, gentle, and respectful dentist in the area. Not only is she a master at her craft, she was also willing to work with me financially, when I was in dire need of dental work. I've been a loyal patron since 2002 and I've never had a second thought about going anywhere else because Dr. Michael has always been there for me, even when it was on a weekend. After several bad experiences with dentists in the addison area, I took my family to Dr. Michael. My 13 year old was terrified of dentists after a bad experience and she made him very comfortable and there was little pain involved. I went to get my bottom teeth pulled and a plate made. She evaluated my teeth and said I would regret getting them all pulled. She then gave me three estimates ranging in price. One saved my mouth, another saved tow teeth, another removed them all. She said she knew which one I was most likely to pick, but she urged me strongly to go with the more evasive estimate. She worked with me over time to make payments. She even did six QUALITY root canals in ONE HOUR! She was amazing. she was right, too... I would have regretted my initial decision and am glad I went with restoring my teeth. She and her assistant have a great demeanor and sense of humor, making the entire experience pleasurable. They were awesome about helping me navigate my insurance as well. read more
