After doing much research, I found The Dental Studio and was impressed by the many great reviews. I've had lots of work done since then, and the combination of sedation, nitrous oxide and their gentle hands have made my appointments enjoyable. Today, I had an appointment for a checkup, and I honestly had ZERO anxiety before the appointment. I no longer dread going to the dentist! And, I also appreciate how their office does not feel like a sterile medical office; it's cozy and decorated like your friend's home. They also think of every possible comfort for the patient, including sunglasses to alleviate the glare of overhead lights, a weighted blanket, a tv for watching any favorite show during your procedure, and more. Even more important is that Dr. Erica and her wonderful team take time to explain everything, including what they are doing and why. They want you to be as comfortable as possible. And there's a complete lack of judgment. In the past, I've had absolutely no control over my dental experiences. The work was performed with very little concern for my pain and comfort. I've even experienced being held down during a difficult procedure with no painkillers and the same thing happened with my son when he was three. Marathon Man, anyone? At The Dental Studio, I feel that I have regained that control and that I am more than just a number. It is truly a patient-oriented experience here. I wish more of the medical profession would take notes from The Dental Studio. I also wish I could give them 10 stars!!! To show how much I love this practice, they are out of my insurance network. But they also offer a wonderful membership option to help! Don't hesitate - you'll love this practice too!

They said two adjacent teeth needed crowns. My insurance company strongly disagreed, and wouldn't approve the second tooth. Dr. Beri frequently uses equipment and procedures not covered by insurance. My feeling is he wants to maximize the number of crowns and similar replacements to help with the ROI on all the equipment he has. When I first started here, there were at least 7 to 10 people in this office. Today, 2-3. I do not recommend this office.

Well, after that, the tooth hurt. And a month later it still hurt. And at least 3 months later it still hurt. I went back there to complain after at l;east 3 months later months and I was told that it was nothing to be concerned about unless heat or cold started bothering it. That it was the nerve and it should go away. Dr. Beri was defensive and also aloof that this was because of the dental work. Over a year later, a year full of almost daily migraines, sinus issues, fatigue and other stuff here I sit having gone to another dentist this morning, who advised me that the filling put in my tooth was entirely too big, that the tooth was completely infected, and I have to have a root canal. When they got in there, she said it was full of infection. So, I have had an infected tooth/root whatever for at least a year, and had I gone back to this place again I still don't think they would have addressed it. My kids had their last examination there two weeks ago and we will not return. Thanks for the now $500+ expense due to carelessness and not listening to your patient. THREE MONTHS after the procedure and something should have been done. At a minumum, recognized the filling was too entirely big. I really appreciate this extra expense.

Because of that positive experience, I brought my 9-year old son in today to have a tooth removed. My son has some special needs - he has severe ADHD, a learning disability and intense anxiety about pain. During our consultation with Dr. Scherer last month, I informed him of this and explained that my son has anxiety and fear (somewhat disproportionate to a normal level) when it comes to pain. I said, he will be VERY afraid and wI'll likely cry. I asked Dr. Scherer what he could do to help alleviate the fear. Answer: a child's dose of Valium the night before and morning of, and either laughing gas or IV sedation. I assumed those would be coupled with some understanding and a little empathy and maybe compassion for a terrified CHILD. OMG!!!! NOTHING could be farther from that. Dr. Scherer showed no empathy or compassion. Basically, he scared my son even more by saying "We can either do this now, here - or in the hospital." He demonstrated no care or understanding that my son was terrified. In fact, Dr. Scherer's demeanor was brusque, curt and slightly aggressive. He was unkind in that he used my son's fear against him instead of found or saying ANYTHING to try to allay his fear... even a little. My son was being brave and 'keeping it together' until we were told that I wasn't allowed to go into the room to hold his hand. Per Dr. Scherer, APPARENTLY, having a parent in the room makes the situation worse. Ok, maybe. I'll never know. But, I never expected the callous, brusque manner of Dr. Scherer today. I don't understand why this "hard-a$$" approach was necessary or appropriate for a scared, terrified kid with cognitive challenges. Shame on you, Dr. Scherer.

Several incidents recently caused me to seek another…read moredental practice. 1) I had a change in my bite so significant that I could no longer whistle. It coincided with the start of wearing CPAP headgear for sleep apnea. I brought in the appliance. He would not look at it on my head saying it is not possible. I also brought a cast of my teeth from a few years prior to compare- he refused to look at it saying it wasn't necessary. (My new dentist identified that many people experience a change in byte with the onset of therapy) 2) I complained that there was a gap between teeth that smelled bad when flossing. He didn't X-ray the area. Instead he said, "he had one of those, too". (The new dentist used 3D xRay and found the source of the problem: a broken filling blocking the space between the teeth.) 3) In The summer of 2020 I had tooth pain and was headed to a remote location for a week and was concerned that it might get worse. Dr. Barnes was out of the office but referred me to an endodontist. Dr. Barnes never called afterwards to follow up that I was OK after he returned. 4) Dr. Barnes has not invested in any digital x-ray imaging stating other dentists are "lazy relying on it". The new equipment has so much less radiation that dental assistants don't even need to leave the room and they only place the lead apron on patients as they have come to expect it. (The new dentist identified 2 teeth that need root canals- I will continue to wonder if I wouldn't need this expensive intervention if caught earlier by Dr. Barnes.
