My glowing review of Dr. Maher, my dentist since 1981, now extends to Farideh, one of the dental hygienists who works here. My ex wife was a nurse who knew the best doctors in each specialty, including dentists, and introduced me to Dr. Maher back in 1981, before we were married. My main contact with Dr. Maher was for filling cavities and crowns, which fortunately for my pocket book, was not too often! Six months ago, I had to reschedule a last minute dental cleaning appointment. The only opening was 3pm in the afternoon with Farideh, a dental hygienist I had never met. Now going to the dentist is not one of my favorite past times. I'm used to having dental hygienists torturing my teeth for an hour to clean up all that built up tartar. Farideh did it in half the time. I'm so impressed with her quickness that I switched my future appointments to Farideh, even though she works only 2pm and 3pm, the least popular times to go to the dentist! Today, I come in right at 2pm, and there is my dental hygienist ready to greet me with a smile. Unusually quiet today, with no Sirius rock music from the 60s playing over the intercom, to drown out the screams of suffering patients! I'm flat on back, with Farideh wearing those telescopic glasses, looking like Cyclops with the coal miner's single light mounted on her forehead. She's ruthlessly efficient with the dental laser, which uses water to clean my teeth, finishing up with the traditional scalars. She's always asking me to relax, so that she can open up my mouth to insert the cleaning equipment. No tentativeness in her movements, as she uses plenty of elbow grease to manually scrape off the tartar on my back teeth. Farideh is exceptional in cleaning teeth, and her expertise is very apparent to me, who in a very short time have developed the highest of confidence in her. Remember medicine before the development of anesthesia? Doctors would get their patients drunk, and the best doctors would do the amputations as quick as possible. Farideh is like those doctors, but gets the teeth cleaning done far quicker than any other dental hygienist I have ever met in my half century plus of teeth cleaning. As I leave the dental office, I notice a wall full of paper medical records. They are finally in the middle of scanning the paper records. Also there is a spinning wheel game on the front desk. I ask what it is for, and the receptionist replies that it is prizes for those patients who write 5 star reviews of the dentist! read more

First impression - amazingly friendly and pleasant team of professionals. As I walked in, I was greeted by the staff members and Doctor Sara Zeidan. They were all very friendly and made my experience a pleasant one. Service - Dr. Zeidan made sure my procedure was quick and smooth. She described the procedure, checked whether I was comfortable with the pain level and performed the procedure in a speedy and gentle manner. I highly recommend Dr. Zeidan, her professional skills and pleasant personality along with warm/friendly support team make the entire experience a seamless one. read more

I have been using Dr. Maher and all of the great staff here as my primary dental office for over a decade. My entire family uses this office and we have nothing but praise. I always get great tips for improving my dental health, which is especially important with my weak enamel. I have gotten teeth molding for a night bite guard for grinding my teeth and whitening trays done here as well. I always enjoy seeing the familiar and friendly faces who are genuinely interested in your health and general wellbeing. I will continue using this office as long as I am in the area! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Maher for many years and have always been very satisfied. Since his association with SunnyDentalGroup, I have had one bad experience after another. At first, it was a case of double billing which was discovered only upon examination of my credit card bill. Numerous attempts by phone and in person to contact Dr. Maher were never conveyed to him by the staff. Most recently, I was sent several texts and phone calls reminding me of an upcoming appointment, with two different times from my original appointment. I was finally able to confirm the time. When I appeared for my appointment, I was told that Dr. Maher was busy with other patients, and I would have to see another dentist. I complained that I was not told that another dentist would be seeing me, and I was told by the office manager that "that's the way we do it here." The dentist performed a perfunctory and incomplete examination and then proceeded with a cleaning (no dental hygienist was available) that was shorter than any I had received before. Her use of the hydro jet cleaner was more like waterboarding than dental prophylaxis, resulting in several gagging episodes. I was then told that more x-rays were necessary with the conclusion that I needed both a mouth guard and a crown. I attempted to make a follow-up appointment with Dr. Maher and was told that he was not available and that the dentist I saw would be the one to perform the work. When I objected, they miraculously found an appointment slot within a week I asked that Dr. Maher review the X-rays and that he call me. This has not occurred. The only call I received was from the office manager to review the financing of the crown. Needless to say, I will be transferring my care and obtaining another opinion. I was always very satisfied with Dr. Maher's care and felt that he was an excellent dentist who cared for his patients with skill and compassion. In my opinion, his association recently with SunnyDentalGroup has been a disaster and has done nothing but destroy the fine reputation Dr. Maher has established over his career. My hope is that he will disassociate with this group as soon as possible. read more

I have been going here for years and the staff is actually better and more friendly now. They are very accommodating with appoint times. There is always lots of parking and I feel like they listen to my dentist fears. read more

While I have historically be seen by Dr. Maher, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Zedidan today. She was lovely as well. I came in the other day for some dental care and am so happy I did! My insurance information was a bit difficult to figure out and Omar at the front desk went above and beyond in figuring out what the problem was. Both Dr. Maher and the dental hygienist were extremely kind and even though my teeth are in pretty bad shape they never made me feel uncomfortable about it. I got three teeth worked on in one appointment and it went by like that! I am thrilled I have a new dentist I trust and highly recommend them to anyone who doesn't like being "sold to" when they visit their dentist. read more

Dr. Maher and his staff are just simply the best. I have been going to Dr. Maher since 2010, and even after I no longer worked in the area near his office, I made the long trek to see him. Well worth it! Unfortunately, I no longer have time to drive to Sunnyvale, so I have to sadly find someone new near home. I have been going to Mike and his team for nearly 25 years (maybe more). He has assembled a consistently great team who make a trip to the dentist pleasant. As has been stated in another review, Mike is an extremely kind and caring professional. I happen to have very sensitve teeth and he has always considered my needs when determining a course of treatment. Mike will also go to great lengths to take care of his patients. About five years ago i had a crown that popped out on a Thursday night after normal business hours (his office was closed on Fridays at that time). I called the after hours phone, Mike called me back and arranged to meet me at his office at 8:00 that night. He re-set the crown and I was able to take my trip as planned that weekend. This is above and beyond the call of duty and it was greatl appreciated. Mike and his team care a great deal and it shows. We moved from Germany to the Bay area 3 years ago and have been looking for a good dentist for a long time. Our 8 year old daughter had big problems with her baby teeth, a lot of cavity, not a good first set. We first tried various "pediatric dentists" with fancy doctor's offices and TV screens with kids movies. Impressive at first, but as far as medical care was concerned, the most bizarre suggestions were made to us (to name a few: amalgam filling, crowns instead of fillings, the use of nitrous oxide to calm down our daughter during procedure, other tranquilizer, crowns in teeth, which can be treated by a filling and absurdly high cost estimates). Finally, we were introduced to Dr. Maher, DMD through a good friend of mine and finally arrived. He is an awesome doctor of great skill who always acts in the patient's interest. He is thoughtful and calm and is very good at dealing with young and old patients. The same applies to all of his staff members we dealt with over the last months: all of them are extremely friendly, patient and helpful in every way. I highly recommend the Dr. Maher and his practice - we feel extremely well looked after as a family. read more
