This dental office deserves more than 5 stars. I haven't been to the dentist for quite some time and I was so nervous coming in. I found this place by recommendation from my Mommy group on FB. I emailed the office and was able to get an appointment on my preferred date. From the front desk, dental assistant, Dental Hygienist Connie and Dr. Tran. What a great team! My teeth felt soo clean and Dr. Tran talked about what needed to be done and what could wait. He was able to answer my questions and actually listened to me. I'm so happy I found an amazing Dentist that is honest! read more

Dr. Tran to the rescue! I recently chipped both my upper and lower front teeth from an accident and have engagement photos and a wedding coming up! I was in panic mode fearing that my fiancé would leave me! LOL! Dr. Tran squeezed me in on an early Tuesday morning and his team went right to work. His website made it easy to schedule and fill out all the necessary forms ahead of time. He has modern equipment and a wonderful team. He is also a perfectionist and made about eight fine-tuning adjustments to make sure that my bite and teeth were smooth. As a health care business owner myself, I can appreciate Dr. Tran's office professionalism and I actually took notes for my business as well. I don't regularly take the time to post reviews but couldn't pass up the opportunity to give Dr. Tran and his team praise. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Tran and Connie, the dental hygienist, for a few years. They are very thorough, professional, gentle and answer any question I have. Dr. Tran is honest and direct, which I highly appreciate. The people working at the office are always nice and easy to work with. read more

I've been under the care of Dr. Tran and his staff for about a year, and I'm very pleased with everything so far. His office staff is friendly and helpful, scheduling is always a breeze. The dental hygienist who did my cleaning was the best I've ever had. She's super kind, gentle, and thorough with cleaning, even told me how to properly brush. Dr. Tran is also great, he did a few fillings and and always cared about my experience as a patient. The rates are also very reasonable. I highly recommend Modern Family Dental if you are in need of a highly skilled dentist. read more

Dr Barniv is fair and honest. He always gives you all the options with the details and the risks for each one. The clinic's team is great from Lovely Rita to all the hygienists. Both of my kids are also patients and we are extremely satisfied read more

+++ HONEST DENTIST ALERT +++ I originally came here for a second opinion, but ended up making dr. Barniv my new dentist. After a very thorough discussion, I was given options that were different and much simpler than what my old dentist recommended. Everything Barniv suggested made sense, because the doctor actually took the time to explain why one option was better than the other. I got the sense he is a very ethical person, and this office doesn't treat you like a walking ATM machine :-) The secretary is really friendly and checked my insurance for me. They take Delta, so all the cleanings and checkups are free for me and my kids. I decided to come here because of all the good reviews, and once again - Yelp did not disappoint! :-) read more

I was looking for a new dentist and found Dr. Barniv. Looked like he had good reviews, so I emailed him through his website asking if he was taking new patients. No response. I emailed a second time - also no response. So, either no one in his office is checking email, he's not taking new patients, his business is closed, or they are just not a communicative bunch. Either way - I moved on. Found another dentist and just gave up on Barniv. Disappointing. read more

Awesome dentist. As a healthcare worker, I appreciate Dr. Barniv's approach. He is meticulous but very conscientious and always has his patients' best interest first and foremost. A lot of private practice dentists will try to do more things to capture reimbursement. No sense of that at all here. And what is done, is done extremely well. Equipment is top notch. Rita is fantastic at keeping track of everything and making sure the insurance details are in line. Very fortunate to have Dr. Barniv as my dentist. read more

I just got back from visiting Dr. Barniv for the firs time, and I was very impressed with his knowledge and demeanor. He was able to diagnose a problem I've been suffering from for years. I will definitely go back to him, and plan to make him my permanent dentist. If you are looking for someone with great interpersonal skills, and a bit of ingenuity, I would recommend coming to Dr. Barniv. read more

I have finally found a great dentist. For years I was trying out different Dentists and just wasn't having any luck. I then came across Dr. Barniv and his staff and they are awesome. To be quite honest they reason I went in the first place was because of a flyer I got in the mail saying new patients will receive a free teeth whitening kit. So I took advantage of that, but turns out I found a great dentist too :) They use state of the art equipment and have your chart pulled up on the the tv that is in front of you chair.....pretty cool. The place is also really clean and every one is super friendly and hygienists are always really gentle. I have recommended my BF, friend and Dad and they all love them as well. read more

In short Dr Barniv saved my mouth. Five stars. The longer version of the story is I had a severe infection under a badly root canale'd molar that had been retreated and kept getting infected. Dr Barniv reviewed my x Ray and agreed the infection needed to be healed. But the amazing thing is he walked me through each option I had, the risks, the process, the estimated costs, and the potential for success or failure of each option. He wasn't rushed nor did he make me feel like a dumb patient that doesn't know anything. I made the decision to have the tooth pulled, and he did a great job of managing pain without going on an insurance money binge (does one really need full sedation for a simple extraction?). I was back at work a few hours later and experienced minimal pain. On the Saturday after the surgery the stitches started dissolving and I got nervous about the bone graft. I emailed him and he responded within 30 minutes saying it was totally normal and how to handle it. Very comforting when I was stressed about damaging the graft. As of today the bone graft and gums are healing well and I am planning to return to have the abutment and eventual implant crown installed by him later this year. Office staff is friendly and just overall I have to say this is a really great and rare honest dentist. Thanks again Dr Barniv! read more

Most people hate going to the dentist but I actually enjoy coming here. Candace has always cleaned my teeth and has the most gentle hands ever. She's very calm and easy-going and makes the experience as enjoyable as possible. The staff are also extremely nice, and I really have nothing but good things to say about them. If you live in the area, or even if you don't, I would highly recommend their services. Really A+ business. read more

I agree with the other reviewers. This clinic is awesome! What I like about it best is that the staff seems to get along really well and they've had the same people working there for the entire time I've been coming (5 years or so now). I think that my other dentist had a different hygienist for each month of the year... :) Whenever I come in for my cleaning, I bring a dvd to watch, so it's a nice break from work and I actually look forward to my cleanings now because of that. I also like the hygienist - she's definitely one of the best I've ever had (and I had many!). and very thorough. One time I had to wait 10 minutes, but all the other times they saw me right away, so I guess they run a tight ship and I don't have to miss too much work every time I come. read more

We moved to Dr. Barniv almost a year ago and we love him! The office is modern, staff is professional, high quality equipment and prompt appointments. The staff are great with kids and they can watch movies during cleaning/treatment. I'm glad we moved here. Update: Nov 2018 - he was ok but not creative thinking, no supporting alternatives and insisted on charging me for consult after I went to a specialist he refereed me to. Switched to another dentist who doesn't charge me for every single advise, calls me back much faster and thinks outside the box. read more

Unfortunately, visits to a dentist became a part of my life, and, during the years, I've visited a lot. I know a good dentist when I see one, and Dr. Barniv is definitely one of the best I've met. Knowledgeable, calm, with a gentle touch, he makes the treatments as painless as they get. Always explains what needs to be done, and offers the options of treatment. Absolutely recommend his clinic in case if you need help. read more

I can't believe I'm actually writing a yelp review for a dentist but here goes.... Dr. Barniv is the best dentist I ever had, for many different reasons. First, I like his clinic, which is right next to where I work. His secretary is nice and helped me once with an insurance problem. Dr. Barniv is a down-to-earth guy and doesn't seem too aggressive, as some of my other dentists were. It's really hard to find doctors with whom you have good chemistry, and I finally found one. I've been going there for about 3 years or so, mostly just for cleannings, but last week I went in for a crown. It did't hurt at all, even after the anesthesia wore off, and a few hours after I got home, dr. barniv himself called me to see how I was doing. I thought that was awesome that he would actually care enough to call me (that's new!). I really don't like dentists (who does), but since you can't avoid them altogether, you really can't go wrong with Dr. Barniv. read more

I had to take time out of my day to write Barniv Dental a review because of the excellent experience that I had. I have been through so many dentist in the Bay Area which I found disheartening and beyond frustrating. I was recommended Barniv Dental by a friend and decided to give them a shot. I have to give kudos to Rita who was so diligent with scheduling. I can not express how on top of everything she was. She is just fantastic! I was actually considering trying another dentist but how she kept up with me and checked in really stood out. I am so so very glad I came in and chose them! Dr. Barniv was extremely informative and listened to all of my issues and concerns. I truly felt like he really listened and gave the best advice that was geared towards my health without conflict of interest or financial gain. I felt immediately relaxed just meeting Rita and once meeting Barniv felt even more at ease. The dental cleaning by Candace was superior. She was gentle, effective, and very thorough all while being so sweet. I just can not describe how professional the office was and just how happy I was having had gone to them. I feel a restored faith in the dental profession and have already recommended several people to come see them. A truly good dentist is hard to come by these days!! Trust me, Ive gone to so many Ive lost count. The office is clean, friendly, so relaxing, and very modern. It feels so comforting to have finally found a dental home and I look forward to staying with them for several years to come. Thanks Barniv Dental! Your entire team is truly stellar. read more

Ive seen sooooooo many Dentist. Ive worked in alot and been to alot. I was referred here by my BF and his sister. The experience here was beyond my expectations. It was a breeze setting the appointment, Elizabeth the receptionist was so nice and helpful! I was first seen by the hygienist, who was very gentle and so precise. Lets just say the best cleaning Ive ever recieved. Then I saw Dr. Barniv for my examination. Dr. Barniv is extremely knowledgable and honest. He explains everything so clearly and could sense that he truly cared for his patients. The office staff is very sweet and I cant wait til my next 6mo visit! =) read more

If I could give Dr. Barniv 10 stars I would!!! I absolutely love the entire staff!! A few of my favorite aspects of Dr. Barniv's office: 1. Dr. Barniv..He is an AWESOME Dentist. He is super easy to talk to and always makes me better about the condition of my teeth (cavities, sensitivity, ect). I recently had a baby and mentioned to him that I am having sensitivity to hot/cold and he explained the reasons why pregnant women and new mommy's have so many changes with their teeth and gums. He also recommended a toothpaste to help with the sensitivity and it worked like a CHARM =) 2. Rita (the front office manager) and Connie (hygienist) are so sweet and personable. For me, a little goes a long way and the Rita emailed me after I had my baby to congratulate me and ask for a picture! They also asked me to bring him in at my last appointment and Dr. Barniv even came out to visit with him. Connie always has the lightest touch and takes her time cleaning..I swear I feel like my gums are getting a massage..I actually look forward to coming in for my cleanings now!! =) 3. The office is IMMACULATELY CLEAN! I am a clean freak and scrutinize the Dr. and Dentist office. I absolutely love how clean and tidy the office always is. I highly recommend coming here, they will take great care of you and build a relationship with you as opposed to treating you like just a patient =) read more

Dr Barniv and his dental assistants are so kind and gentle. Great for a nervous nelly like me. They made me feel as comfortable as possible. Dr Barniv explained all the options and told me what was the most affordable. I really appreciate his honesty and integrity. read more

Best Dentist Ever. I had 4 different dentists in my life time, Doctor Barniv by far is one of the best. The most important , he is HONEST :) read more

So I brought my 3 year old daughter here yesterday and she LOVED going so much that she begged me over and over to take her back there again today! She loved that she could "help" and hold the suction while they cleaned her teeth and the hygienist walked through everything she was doing before she did it. With all the attention and fussing over her, she got over her nerves pretty quickly. And they displayed a movie right in front of her so she could be distracted if necessary. I was pretty happy because I have one friend that has to sedate her kid to get him through the dentist ordeal. Whew! dodged that one by bringing my daughter at 2 for a teeth count and over all looksie and then bringing her back at 3. If you need to take your kid (or yourself) to a kinder, gentler dentist, Dr. Barniv and his staff are awesome. Totally recommend without reservation! read more

Let's face it, I'm the nightmare dental patient. I went out on a limb and found Dr Barniv through a flier in the mail. We were new to the area (5 years ago) and his office was new. Dr Barniv is patient, tracks my ticks about visiting the dentist in his computer (low tolerance for pain, sensitivity, etc etc) and makes every effort to accommodate. I appreciate the headphones and movies to zone out. Each time I need a little bit of work done, Dr Barniv carefully explains my options and leaves it entirely up to me as to when I can commit to sitting in a Dental chair for the work. I've been so happy with this office that I recently switched my children from their pediatric dentist to his office. We are covered by Delta and happy that all of our cleanings to date have been covered. If I have to go to the Dentist (which I do) Dr. Barniv is the best! read more

I am a big baby as anyone in the office will tell you. I had a scary experience with a dentist when I was 18 and it made me avoid the dentist for decades. My wife went there and told me about Dr Barniv. I went and in spite of the fact that I'm a big baby, I had a great experience. I have been going there for more than 3 years and he is very gentle and I have experienced no pain (with the exception of him teasing me about my fear of ticks). The staff is awesome, the hygienist is great and Debbie is also very good at what she does there. Little known fact, Dr Barniv was in the Olympics as a badminton champion. He's very humble about it, so don't hesitate to mention it to him. read more

I found Dr. Barniv through Yelp and thanks to the glowing reviews, I had no trouble making the decision to check him out. I must say the staff and the doctor are very supportive and cordial. It was great that the receptionist looked up my insurance details and called me back to let me know the difference in benefits since they were not part of my provider network. I like their policy of "avoiding surprises" for the patient. The appointment started right on time. The doctor was forthcoming and answered all my queries, and the appointment was over in a jiffy. I was having gum pains next to my wisdom tooth, so the doctor suggest a panoramic X-ray even before I met him (that's the reason for the 4 stars, since I don't think if it was absolutely necessary, esp. before he even examined me). The kicker was when the doctor called me back personally to check if everything was fine! Now that's really going the last mile! Looking forward to my teeth cleaning session soon. :) read more

He is the best!!! He is really really good dentist! With my old dentist I had no complete understanding of my problems. They just told me I had this many tooth cavities, I needed to do this and that. I'd go there open my mouth and the'd do their thing. And tell me, it's done. I had no real clue. But Doctor Barniv showed me what was wrong and what they can do. Turned out my old dentist didn't bother to tell me about the full extent of my teeth, gum problems. They never used to charge the 20% copayment from me ( illegal?), so I used to think it was the best deal. Instead I was sacrificing quality. I had no idea! My teeth was under treated and it costed me dearly. Go with the best and go with the quality future patients!!! I'm bringing my 2 daughters to him also because the pediatric dentist we went to see was way overpriced!!! My husband also recommended new patients to Dr. Barniv before. He was very happy about Dr. Barniv and his team. read more

This review is long overdue, I've been coming to Barniv Dental since 2006,referred by my co-worker. I felt very comfortable talking to Dr. Barniv about my dental work. He's patient and explains procedures thoroughly,He's honest and I've never had any problems with his work, I've had plenty of Dentist in the past and he tops them all! Dr Barniv's staff is also Awesome!! Debra and Rita are Friendly and Professional. Let me sum up Dr. Barniv for you real simply: Take an old-timer conservative dentist and combine him with a a younger high-tech guy and you have Dr. Barniv. It's the perfect combination and I'm surprised he still has room for new patients. I left my old dentist because he was too damn old (I don't think he could see past his own nose), but what I really liked about him is that he never tried to sell me crap I didn't need. And, if he said I needed something, I knoew for sure I did. But, again, he was getting to old and his office smelled like my grandma's house. So I went and found some hot shot young guy who was all teched out and seemed sharp. But right from the get-go, he and is staff were trying to sell me this, that and the other. Telling me I needed a deep cleaning, I had 20 cavities, I needed a new smile...it was disgusting. I ran out of that place. I found Dr. Barniv on Yelp, and it was the perfect fit for me. He has the qualities of the old guy (he offers you all the options, but you know what he's recommending is what he really thinks you need), but he ALSO has the qualities of the new guy. Like I said, it's the perfect doc in my book. -------------- The good: 1. Honest about what you really need 2. Friendly and attentive staff 3. If that's your preference - they will do everything by e-mail 4. Always on time, like a German train! The bad: 1. Closed Friday thru Sunday read more

Great office. Came here because I was in need of a dentist in the area and a friend recommended Dr. B. Rita (the office manager) is super helpful and attentive; she responded to me quickly (via email, love it) and was very kind about answering all of my questions. Connie Ray was my hygienist; so gentle! My hygienist at my last dentist was a nightmare. Connie was super chatty and friendly, overall very pleasant to deal with. My interaction with Dr. B was pretty quick, but he was friendly and thorough. So happy to have made them my new dentist! read more

Dr. Barniv is so wonderful! I hadn't been to the dentist in close to 5 years and he was so thorough and up front about the work that needed to be done. When I came back for my long appointment I had the pleasure of watching a movie while I was getting my teeth drilled - now that is 5 star service! The time flew by and I didn't feel a thing. His office is also super clean and modern. I am so happy to have found him as my new dentist! read more

I visited Dr. Barniv a few months ago when I first moved to California. Upon my first appointment, it was a delightful experience compared to the typical dentist appointment most people (at least people like me) dread going to. Deborah who was at the front desk, and Candace, a dental hygienist were extremely helpful and accommodating. Dr. Barniv was extremely helpful in addressing regular dental procedures as well as a ton of past issues with my teeth. He also helped me better understand the process which relieved a lot of stress. He explained what procedures would be necessary, and he did not hesitate to answer any questions I had regarding the procedures or estimates. He ensured that I was aware of all of my options before deciding on a treatment plan with him, and he even guided me towards what decision made the most sense for my particular situation. My biggest concern for more complex dental procedures is the pain, and Dr. Barniv was hands down the best dentist I've ever had in terms of pain management. There was only a little discomfort throughout, and I was even able to eat and drink without pain in the affected area after the procedure when I wasn't able to normally before the procedure. For general dentistry or procedures, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Barniv for anyone who's like me and has some residual anxiety towards dental procedures. And even if you just go for cleanings, the whole procedure is a breeze - you're in and out before you know it. read more

Easy appts, great staff and Dr Barniv is fantastic. Highly recommended!

My husband had a wisdom tooth removed and recommend me Dr. Barniv. He usually does not like dentists. I am glad I listened to him. I had a molar extracted by Dr. Barniv because both roots had cracked and underneath there was an infection. Before deciding to remove this tooth, Dr. Barniv double checked with a specialist. After removing this tooth, he also tried to save another tooth next to it. He warned me beforehand that he would do everything he could to just make it a filling, but this could turn into a root canal. I highly recommend Dr. Barniv and his assistant, Debra. They explain everything, are very nice, gentle and professional. I feel that they care and do everything they can to do a good job and make me as comfortable as they can. I had my cleaning done there too and it was the best cleaning experience I ever had. read more

I came to Barniv Dental for a cleaning beause I had received a postcard in the mail that offered a family discount. I was very satisfied with the cleaning for myself and my daughter. The only thing that bothered me was when I called to get my x-rays e-mailed to me, the receptionist asked me if I wanted her to remove me as a patient. I said no. Then the same thing happened when I asked for my daughter's x-rays. The reason I asked for our x-rays was because they did not do the kind of work we needed. After that, I have decided to go back to my old dentist for dental work. Other than that, the dentists at Barniv Dental are very professional and their office is very nice and clean. read more

My friends recommended Dr. Barniv after I was fed up with my previous dentist who was always very pushy. I've had plenty of dentists in the past, as I'm sure all of you have if you're looking for dentist reviews on yelp, but I'm here to tell you,"look no more". Dr. Barniv is by far the best dentist that I have ever had. He's gentle, kind, patient and takes the time to thoroughly explain the problem (if you're having one) and all of the treatment options that are available. In addition, he's not pushy like many other dentists that I've been to that seem more like car sales men, than doctors. He's highly knowledgeable and I trust his professional opinion. I also think that it's a huge plus that he doesn't see multiple other patients during my appointment. The clinic is small and I've never had to wait with Novocain in my mouth while he does an implant and root canal to 10 other patients, as was my experience in other offices. The office staff is nice and friendly, the dental hygienist is wonderful and they almost always run on time. The cherry on top... Dr. Barniv has an extensive collection of music and videos available if you need a distraction from your treatment. What more could you ask for from a dentist? I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more
