I have been coming here for standard teeth cleaning & fillings for a few years now. It's been a generally good/standard experience. But what I am surprised about is Dr. Esther Lee's apparent lack of knowledge or willingness to talk about anything other than the very basic stuff around cleanings/fillings. For example, I had a question about a front tooth moving out of place. I wanted to know if it was anything serious/do I need to do anything about it in the near future. She appeared to be surprised at the question (I guess she wanted to start the cleaning as soon as possible). She mumbed .... "uh, I dunno .... maybe see an orthodontist?". This is not the only time. Many times in the past her way of responding would be .... "uh, ... vague answer" One would think that after 4-6 years of dental school/residency, a dentist would be willing to offer better service/advice rather than suggesting a referral to a specialist for every small thing. So, if you only need basic stuff done (apparently these "dentists" love making their money only through cleanings & fillings), then this place is ok .... but don't expect anything else. read more

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Lee twice a year for our regular dental checkups since we moved to this area in 2019. We are grateful she accepts our dental insurance. Dr. Lee is very kind, gentle, and reassuring. My husband and I schedule side by side appointments which helps ease our dental anxieties and ensures both of us keep up with our preventative checkups and cleanings. I have unfortunately had some traumatic experiences with other dentists and orthodontists in the past, which has caused me to become extremely anxious during dental appointments/anything involving my teeth. However, Dr. Lee creates a calming space and is understanding and respects any special requests or worries. I notice she even remembers them during my next appointment. I think it's also special that she spends more time with her patients compared to other dentists I've seen in the past. She genuinely cares. read more

I had a great dentist in south SJ that I really loved, but it was just too far a commute, so I was lucky when I found Dr. Lee. It's always hard to find dentists that are friendly, are great with your teeth, and are flexible, efficient, and accommodating. I went in for my first cleaning a few weeks ago, and Dr. Lee actually saw that I had some recession which was causing sensitivity in some of my teeth near the back. She suggested to put a filling on top of this area, which no other dentist has ever suggested. I got them done, and my teeth feel great and much less sensitive. My husband also goes to Dr. Lee, and it's great because when he has cavities that need to be filled, he actually hates the anesthetic shots.. so Dr, Lee gives him this little mechanical bee that vibrates to put up against his cheek, and helps to take the edge off of the shot. He loves it.This is how I know that Dr. Lee is great with kids as well :P All in all, great dentist, awesome goodie bag at the end, and great pricing for those of you that pay an arm and a leg for cavities/fillings/etc. Definitely recommend her to all of you! read more

Highly recommended and my family's dentist since 2016. Each of my visit is a 5-star, including regular cleaning and routine check, orthodontic retainer and periodontal scaling. The office has become too popular these days. I would suggest to make regular cleaning appointments months in advance. As many have testified, Dr. Lee is very gentle and thorough, and she seems committed to making sure her client doesn't experience any discomfort. While I do not question her intent and her skills, I am disappointed by her lack of knowledge when it comes to splints and mouth guards. Because I have bruxism, I require night guards to protect my teeth at night. She gave me a choice between two types of night guards, and I chose the one she personally preferred. Each day I used the night guard, I would wake up with a splitting headache, and I would notice my jaw wouldn't seem to align normally. After about half a year, I went an ortho and was told I had an open bite that would cost 10k to fix, and I experience orofacial discomfort daily. I was told that the splint had changed my bite--only my back left teeth touch, which is usually how it felt when I had the splint on. I later learned that what she had given me was an occlusal splint, not a general night guard. She had given it to me as a night guard without explanation of what splints are used for. Upon further research, it seems like occlusal splints should be carefully designed and adjusted by the dentist based on the patient's TMJ, and are sometimes used purposely to change the alignment of a bite. I remember when I asked her about TMJ, her response was "TMJ's seem very popular these days," rather than giving me a referral or further direction on what to do. I would consider going back to Dr. Lee for general checkups, but I wouldn't trust her to properly identify or diagnose anything else that may be causing me problems I may not know about. read more

I never had a problem going to the dentist...until I decided to try out my graduate schools dental clinic. Being a future healthcare professional myself, I thought I'd help out dental students getting their practice in on me. Even with good intentions it was a pretty traumatic experience for me. Yes they were extremely slow and not very agile with their hands. But hey everyone's gotta start somewhere right. Fast forward to a few years later and now I'm not that excited about the dentist anymore. But my boyfriend needed to get a cleaning done and I found this place on yelp for him. He had a great experience and that encouraged me to come here too. I work in Fresno but rather than find a local dentist in my area, I waited until I had some time off and drove up here. And yes, I would do if again. Dr. Lee is very gentle and explains things she is doing to you so you know what's going on. I had a very pleasant experience complete with a cute dental goodie bag. Netflix is also a plus. As a first time cash patient the visit was only $65 which is reasonable to me. I highly recommend this dentist and now that my health insurance at work kicked in, I'll be sure to look for dental coverage that Dr. Lee is included in! read more

I have I really appreciate the care by Dr. Lee in the past. However during my visit today I noticed that PPE was not changes or cleaned in between patients. Just gloves were changed. I asked the assistant about this and she confirmed this was accurate and talked about how they clean or autoclave everything at the end of the day. I explain this might keep providers safe but it doesn't keep patient safe. They said they provide eye protection/goggles in the previsit email but didn't have any to use with glasses. I was handed a pair that was clearly soiled and told they were "just dusty" (they were visibly more than dusty and had not been cleaned). I walked out mid exam. I'm sad that I will not be returning until practices change. Really unfortunate. read more

I just had the weirdest experience in my life. Unfortunately my dentist shut down his practice so I had to look for another dentist so I find this place on Yelp and I walked in the receptionist she was all over the places she called me Sean she said are you Sean I said no I'm not and from there she treated me like so what are you doing here then? Before I could open my mouth she said we don't welcome walk-ins. So I said that's fine then I tried to explain that I haven't been here before she was talking about cleaning and I said I haven't been here before this is my first time I'm just looking for a new dentist and she repeated herself we don't welcome walk-ins you have to make an appointment I said fine I thought to myself you just lost a patient. Like all the other reviewers are saying, they actually let you watch netflix while working on your teeth. Gives you a box full of goodies at the end. Apart from all these bells and whistles, she didn't try to rip me off like West Coast Dental. They wanted to charge me 300 bucks for filling out some deep grooves i had in my teeth. She doesnt try and sell you on work that doesnt need done and also gentle and explains what is being done. She takes the time out to talk to you and find out what your problems are and if you are concerned about anything and explains your options. She will check insurance coverage for you before you have any work done to make sure its covered. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I recommend Dr. Lees office completely! I've been going to Dr. Lee for almost 9 years. I found her even before she opened her current dental office. I liked Dr. Lee so much that when I moved away from the Sunnyvale, we still drove one hour away to see her for our cleanings and check-ups. I feel like she really cares about her patients and is not out to get well you every filling or try to sell you services like some other dentists. For me, if she sees any potential issues, she always just tells me to watch it carefully and provide suggestions instead of making me pay for a treatment right away if she doesn't think it's necessary. She is super friendly and all her staff are courteous and attentive. I love that she has Netflix at every station in her dental office as it makes the whole experience even better. Malpractice alert. After visiting Dr. Lee I was diagnosed with having cavities in every molar. This sounded extremely unlikely given that I am only 17, visit a dentist twice a year, and strenuously brush and floss twice a day. I remained very skeptical and didn't return until I received a second opinion. I visited a Dentist while I was in Europe 6 months later who has 35 years of experience. The European Dentist compared the pictures that she had taken to Lee's, she noted that no cavity developments had occurred in my molars. She cited that Lee's diagnosis would be classified as malpractice as drilling half of my teeth was neither a precautionary or acute treatment. My impressions of Lee is that she needed money to finance the expensive office space she had just purchased. Furthermore, she shared my email address with all other customers as she sent out invitation to an event. read more

I have NEVER liked dentists. Never ever in my entire life. Visited them and always had pain. My teeth aren't great even though I take care of them and they are also sensitive. All the dentists I have seen before were not sympathetic (it's almost as if they are sick of their job). Dr Lee is now my one and only favorite dentist!!!! Uber kind and nice. Very happy to have found Dr. Lee! Dr. Lee is the first dentist In my 30 years of going to the dentist that actually did the teeth cleaning herself. I'm so used to a dental assistant doing the cleaning and the Dentist only coming in for a few minutes to take a quick peek in my mouth. Hopefully I don't get too used to having Dr. Lee doing the cleanings, because I'm sure as her business grows, she will have to spend less one on one time with her patients. Dr. Lee has a great bedside manner, which I've found is quite rare when it comes to dentists. She is really patient, and actually listens to my concerns, and I have quite a few of them. I'm not the easiest person to please when it comes to my teeth, but she addressed all of my concerns and made sure I was completely satisfied before I left the chair. Ok... So its been a while since I went to a dentist (5years)... Ok a long while (8 years). You could imagine that I was expecting the worse when I finally scheduled an appointment. To my surprise, I had ONE cavity (plus numerous fillings), but, ONE cavity! Not bad if you ask me... Dr. Lee and her staff are very easy going and honest. I felt comfortable from the start and was walked through my x-rays very thouroughly. Dr. Lee explained everything that needed to be done as well as any out of pocket cost. There were no surprises. Her work was impecable and I was always comfortable. The office is spacious and you can even watch netflix as they work. In the end, I was extremely satisfied with Dr. Lee and her staff. It's a small office tucked away in an office building and I've met Dr. Lee, Amanda, and Kassandra. I hope I got all their names right. I feel like I got lucky. I actually had to have three visits in about a two week span. I didn't feel rushed or pressured with an upsell and they showed a lot of concern for my comfort. Netflix on the TV's and build your own gift bags. You can pay with credit card and have receipt e-mailed. Long version: I hadn't seen a dentist in almost six years, not because I'm scared of them - although I should be with all the bad experiences I've had - but because I just didn't have any major issues. In July, spent a few days checking out dentists in the area covered by my insurance then looked around and narrowed it down to five or so. I contacted all of them I got responses from two and Kassandra was the more friendly of the two. She let me know right away they had an opening in September so I booked it right away because I consider a good sign when a dentist can't fit in a new patient for at least a month. It's a clean office, with three chairs, and they have Netflix playing on TV's which they also show you the x-rays on. I had a couple of minor cavities (I say not bad after almost six years of indulging in sweets, thanks Sonicare!) and one was on a filling which meant I was getting my first dental crown which I guess makes me officially a King. First visit - X-rays and cleaning. Dr. Lee mentioned I might need a deep cleaning but said it wasn't necessary yet. Amanda actually finished it up and I found them pretty gentle. They work well together and I've been in a dentist chair with ones who didn't seem to like each other much so it's a big difference. I wish Dyson made silent dental tools though, the noise and vibration annoy me but I spent a lot of time as a kid in dentist and orthodontist chairs. They fit me in the next day to do a filling and prepare me for the crown. Second visit - The filling wasn't bad, the crown though was a new experience. They make a mold and I guess your nerve gets exposed or something and Dr. Lee put a temporary crown in place. I wasn't able to chew on that side for two weeks to avoid breaking it while they waited for the crown to be produced and sent. Unfortunately, we were watching Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown" so I really wanted to pig out after. Third visit - I was like the first appointment that day luckily. After two weeks of avoiding chewing on my right side I was ready. My temporary crown took a lot of effort to take off and Dr. Lee really spent a lot of time shaving down the replacement crown as well to make sure it wasn't too tight and my bite was even. I couldn't tell, my mouth was so numb I would've drooled on myself if I fell asleep. Then I got the bad news that it takes about 24 hours for the cement to fully cure. Even after my tooth was sensitive for like a month when I bit into anything hard. Now it's alright and more back to normal. Fourth visit - A few weeks later, I found out my Aetna insurance apparently wasn't past the 12 month waiting period for major procedures. I guess I only open enrolled for a year before but they didn't start coverage until the last day of the year so Kassandra called to let me know I owed a balance. They didn't charge me the full price though so I went in the next day so I could pay. Really, even if they did pay I would probably be over the coverage limit anyways so I was prepared. I figured it was just rent for all the time I spent there. read more

Dr. Lee is awesome. Her staff is awesome. Going to the dentist is now awesome-er since I found them. I have been getting cleanings for a year and had to get a filling today. My experience has been great! I was 30 mins early to my last appointment and they were quick to accommodate me. I was willing to wait and do some emails but they brought me right back! I had to get a filling today and I was anxious. Dr. Lee's staff was so kind, told me not to worry "not all those tools are for you" and put on Netflix for me. Dr. Lee numbed my tooth and off we went. I felt a little bit of pressure/pain, she saw my eye brow twitch and stopped immediately. Asked if I felt any pain, I said a little and she put another shot in. Fixed it completely! I've never had a dentist pay such close attention to my body language and worries about being in pain. I didn't have to say anything. What kind of dentist picks up on an eyebrow twitch? This review is overdue but Dr Lee and her staff are great. I found her here on Yelp after moving here from the east coast and being in need of a new dentist. Her office is very clean and has a serene feel to it. The best part is that you can watch Netflix during your appointment. Dr Lee does most of the cleaning herself. She's thorough without making your gums bleed like crazy or making you feel bad about not flossing (even though you do). If you're looking for a new dentist, I'd highly recommend Dr Lee! read more

I have no dental insurance so I had been putting off going to the dentist but they provide a discount for no insurance. I contacted them via their website and they got back to me right away. I was able to schedule an appt for the next day (their online calendar shows all the available time slots). If those don't work, they said I could contact them directly to see what they could do. Dr. Lee was very professional and friendly. Unfortunately, I had a minor cavity. I had it filled the next week. Quick with minimum discomfort. Her dental assistant that day was MUCH better than the cleaning. The first one made me drool and didn't pay attention to the suction sometimes, stabbing me in the lip. read more

Great customer service! The Dentist was very friendly, and you could tell she took pride in her work. I had several fillings and a crown done which I had put off doing for several years. The dentist did a great job on it all and did her best to reduce the discomfort/pain. Maybe this is commonplace, but I never had a dentist who provided netflix while I was undergoing the proceedures. Having something to watch helped reduce the discomfort of getting fillings done. It was a thoughtful addition. I highly recommend this dentist. read more
