Holy. Sh-t. !!!!!!…read more I can't find enough superlatives to describe Enders and the Burrow team. However, I didn't have time to do it myself so I decided to book an appointment at this spot in the old Bubbles space. It was easy to book online the same day. EVERYONE GO TO JEFFREY. NOW. BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT…read more Okay, but seriously - here's my back story. I got the WORST haircut of my life from Bishops Navy Yard in July. I went in with normal-length brown hair, and came out with a pure black bowl cut that made me look like Maya Erskine from Pen15. Literally, more than one person saw my hair and went, "oh. Have you seen Pen15...?" Bishops chopped off my hair so short, I had to grit my teeth and wait until this week to try and do something about it. And thank god I did. I called Capitol Hair Salon and explained my problem. Jeffrey stayed on the phone with me to trouble shoot, and even looped in Blanca. And he promised me he'd figure it out, and scheduled me to see him. When I got there for my appointment, he was AMAZING. Not only did HE diagnose my hair and what Bishops did, he brought over other members of the salon to do it too. He even brought Blanca over, who explained that they couldn't get me to my preferred shade, because they needed to be able to fix my hair first. But they could do it in two sessions, and then gave me a game plan. For the next two hours, the entire salon helped Jeffrey color correct my hair. And they were SO careful with their work. You can tell they're artists who care. Jeffrey and the team genuinely worked magic on my hair. I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH.

WARNING: The issue here is not Metropolis's hefty price or poor service. It is how they handled a…read morecustomer who called ahead, acted in good faith, and was still told to come in without being given any additional information. I booked with Michael and, when work meetings ran over, called to explain I was running late and specifically asked whether I should still come. I was told yes. No one told me that my services or pricing would change. When I arrived, I was told I could only receive a basic haircut and a few face framing highlights, a small fraction of what I had originally booked. I said that was fine, but asked what it would cost. I received roundabout answers and had to ask three separate times before finally being told I would be charged $417, the price of my original, much more extensive service. I left without receiving any service and was charged $417. But the most upsetting part was how unkind the experience was. I work a demanding job in DC and was trying to handle the situation responsibly. I called ahead, explained what happened, asked what I should do, and followed their direction to come in. Anyone working in this city knows that meetings run over. I was not asking them to ignore their policies. I was asking for basic communication and consideration. Instead, I felt like I had to repeatedly push just to get a straight answer about what I was being charged. That lack of transparency, and especially the lack of kindness, was incredibly disappointing. There are plenty of professional, transparent, and genuinely considerate salons in DC. I will be going elsewhere.

I have long-ish hair and get frustrated when stylists cut off a lot more than I wanted. Sierra totally understood and said she would trim it however much I wanted, which I very much appreciated. I like the results of going to the salon but don't enjoy the process. Sierra made it enjoyable. As a huge bonus, I learned A LOT from her about hair, hair care, and highlights. I told her that since my former colorist left DC during Covid, I haven't been able to find someone who has filled her shoes. I have now! Thanks, Sierra! https://www.theshopsalon.com/team/#shaw

Mauro gives the absolute worst men's haircuts. I showed him a picture of exactly what I wanted, and…read morehe completely botched it. He cut the sides unevenly, went way too short, and left a noticeable diagonal angle on one side instead of blending the hair properly. The haircut looks nothing like the reference photo I showed him. What makes it even more frustrating is that I specifically provided a picture to avoid this exact situation. The lack of attention to detail and poor blending are unacceptable, especially when you're paying for a professional haircut. Now I'm stuck waiting weeks for my hair to grow back because of how badly it was cut. Extremely disappointed with the result. I would not recommend Mauro for men's haircuts.

This salon is located on H Street and is very small so it's a little easy to miss. The vibe on the inside is very bohemian chic and everyone working there is super friendly. I can't remember the name of the woman who did my root touch up, but she did an awesome job and my color still looks great even though it was nearly a month ago that I came in! Had been dying my hair bright cherry/fashion red for two years and was over it. Came in for a color…read moreconsult and they said I needed a double process bleach out--which I was SUPER nervous about because my hair lifts really easily, would have preferred to start with a bleach bath but was told it wouldn't be enough (several hairstylists I've spoken to since have clarified that's where they'd have started), but I was super adamant that I absolutely did not want to be brown, and therefore was willing to accept any damage in my hair to get what I wanted (a vivid copper/ginger). I was quoted $700 for the full appointment. Came in and on the day of my appointment, after the first bleach, they were able to lift me to a super light platinum blonde--the perfect canvas--but I could tell my hair integrity was pretty compromised after so I asked if we had to go in with bleach a second time because there was less than a quarter inch of regrowth at the time that didn't bother me and would just prefer to gloss over if possible without doing more bleach damage. Stylist said sure. So tell me why I walk out with the one color I was trying to avoid--the one color I was willing to put my hair through a full bleach out to avoid?? Brown. I've included inspo pictures, the color they lifted me to? I was devastated. I tried to give myself time to sit with it, wondering if I was just seeing things but called shortly after to express my disappointment and said I'd receive a call the next day. No call back. Instead, I had to reach back out. I then received an email that said there's nothing they can do and that instead I can shampoo it a few times and they can try to gloss it. What?? My hair is too dark at this point? Gloss doesn't lift color, and I didn't get what I paid for. I expressed my disappointment and eventually the owner called me and tried to gaslight me that it was my fault that my hair wasn't brighter because I didn't let the stylist do a second round of bleach I'm sorry--WHAT? Any stylists out there want to look at the color they lifted me to and tell me that same thing? Make it make sense. Still not sure if the owner and I were disconnected, or if she hung up on me, but I called back later to get in touch. Then I wrote an email. Gave them a whole month to respond and avoid embarrassing themselves with this review and here we are. Oh--to top it off--I was still charged for a double process bleach even though we only did a single process. Horrible customer service, horrible hair expertise, wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
