Collin was great about listening to my concerns about my hair, and delivered a cute fresh style and styling tips I can duplicate at home easily. Getting an appointment was easy, and everyone at the salon was friendly and kind. It's so conveniently located and if you go on a weekend you kind of have to stop by the Eastern Market booths, which is a bonus in my book!

Staff is friendly and the place is always clean and well ventilated. I love that there is natural coming through the windows and it's in a good neighborhood. Before I went to Doan, I went to some high-end salon and spent about 1/3 of my paycheck for okay results. I decided to try Doan in search of a more affordable way to keep up with my blonde highlight habit, and I am so happy I found her. The salon itself is lovely and I am always impressed by how much Doan gets done in a day. She is a one woman powerhouse. My blonde hair is healthy and stylish in Doan's hands.

She did a great job on the bleaching and it's not damaged at all. The main gripe I have is that the dye she put on top washed out after one wash with purple shampoo, something that had never happened to me before when I had gotten my hair balayaged elsewhere in the past (nor when I'd gotten it toned every two months). She'd recommended using overtone conditioner--unfortunately, the silver overtone conditioner did nothing except give my hair a green twinge (looks a lot like hay currently.) When I panicked and told Doan about this she was kind and offered me useful advice--clarifying shampoo, which I hadn't thought about--and relayed the brand of dye she used so I wouldn't have an alternative salon use it on me in the future. Sadly, only two weeks after getting my hair done I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get it fixed, hence the three stars. :(

If you want to make this right refund my money, I don't wanna come back to your salon. You don't treat people like that. The price was OKish, but I got a really mediocre haircut. I'm a guy and I haven't gotten a haircut in a long time and I'm starting a new job soon and I needed to look professional. I needed some help like picking a shorter hairstyle and the stylist didn't want to help me make decisions at all. I had to ask for product at the end because she just wanted to kick me out with giant puffy hair because she brushed it when it was dry really really hard. I washed and brushed my hair right before I got in the car to go to the salon and there was no reason to brush out my hair like I was a kid before picture day. My hair feels so fried now. I have 3C curly hair and I left feel like my hair looks like a giant triangle. None of the staff would talk to me and everyone was really really hostile and unfriendly and when I was paying the owner started screaming (I think at me?) about how I didn't want to get a color on my hair like I had booked because they told me they were gonna charge me twice the price when I got there and then she complained that I was losing her business money. I'm gonna end up going to another salon somewhere else because my hair looks terrible. I asked for the bare minimum and she did less than that. I felt like she just didn't want to touch me or work on me. I don't know if they don't like cutting men's hair or if it's some other reason. I wanted a regular short men's haircut and instead I got this really weird bob cut. I asked the stylist why she left the back of my hair like 4 inches longer than the sides and she said it was because of my "curl pattern". I gave her the benefit of the doubt that it would look different once it relaxed or something, but it looks really uneven all over. I also had to ask her to even out her own work a few times because she would just leave random strands of hair three times the length of the other strands and like claim did not notice. I have to try to get it fixed before I start my new job because I don't want my boss to think that this is what I bring to the table. Who gives someone this weird asymmetrical cut when they just wanted everything the same length? I told her I didn't like my hair and she said "well, what do you want me to do about it?". She just kept asking me over and over again what I wanted and I kept telling her like how I wanted it fixed and she kept saying like she basically didn't know how to cut my hair. It wouldn't kill their staff to actually treat the people who come in through the door like human beings instead of like an imposition that they just want to go away. If they weren't going to do a good job for the price they quoted me online they shouldn't have taken my business. It's super awkward having your hair ripped out of your head repeatedly because someone won't just go get a wide tooth comb and they also won't speak to you. You don't brush 3C hair with a paddle brush as hard and as fast as you can and then claim you know how to handle curly hair. I really hate this haircut and I hate how much my scalp hurts right now because someone wouldn't take the time to comb my hair the right way. My stylist literally hid in the back of the salon for 20 minutes texting on her phone instead of cleaning her station like she said she was and she was late to my appointment. I don't know that she knows that I could see her reflection in the salon mirrors and I know she was avoiding me. The only time my stylist smiled or made any kind of conversation with me was when I was paying for my haircut and I got the feeling like she was just being nice so that I would tip. Thanks for making me look like Lord Farquad from Shrek. I don't know who hurt you, but I don't deserve this sloppy pageboy bob cut.

I had a great consultation prior to my appointment and Jessica was very knowledgeable. She took GREAT care of my curls and took my natural hair color of black to this GORGEOUS coppery color with NO bleach. The cut was awesome as well! She really cut into my hair got off all of the dead ends even at my shortest layer! Her attention to detail was overly appreciated. My curls are perfectly in tact under this blowout! I'm very pleased. The salon is gorgeous as well. Parking was pricey BUT Everyone was very polite, helpful and efficient! They were getting people in&out so fast! They offered complimentary coffee&etc as well.

I also have very curly hair, so my hair slips, slides, and unravel all the time. My girl really helped take care of my hair. She took her time, provided an excellent wash, and even provided different tips and tricks to help me understand how best to take care of my hair. She was awesome, and this is the best my Hair has felt in quite some time. For context, I came to see her after not having proper maintenance for a while and taking an ocean field trip to Mexico. I went from looking like a criminal who escaped the penitentiary, to a corporate baddie in just a couple hours. I would highly recommend . Also, because this is a true salon, the vibes are pretty great for the most part. The music is kind of all over the place, but the place is clean and they have really great product offerings.
