I'm just a bit annoyed with the service today. I requested service to replace a bathtub faucet fixture. Unfortunately, the type of fixture I ordered was not going to fit. That is not my complaint... the technician arrived and attempted to install the fixture (cutting my existing pipes in the process). He then left first for supplies and later to go solder the new fixture without success. My issue is that he left for well over 2 hours. I thought he had returned to the area office. After over 2 hours , I called the dispatcher only to find he was outside my condo building the entire time. It would have been helpful to receive a status update of the attempted installation. Instead, I was waiting thinking that he was not going to return. Communication to the client is important. The day off from work has been wasted. Furthermore, at this time my faucet has been severed and the tub not useable. read more

Took 8 days for them to come out, even with the option to be notified of a cancellation. Day of, they give me a 6 hour window and wouldn't budge even after I called 2 hours in (was informed I was next) I called to cancel at hour 4, all of a sudden they said they are two min away. I waited, still no one until 5 min later. $89 diagnostic fee that doesn't go towards repair and a 6 hour window, no thanks. read more

Can't trust them. They refused to give an itemized receipt, lumping service with cost of the part. This allows them to conceal unconscionable markups for parts. This is not a review about service but about respect for customers and neighbors. I've called numerous times about one of there trucks parking on Sundays in spaces used by church members most of whom are elderly. I was assured the matter would be handled, and the driver, who takes the truck home on the weekend would park elsewhere during our Sunday service. This Sunday morning the employee did move his truck and is now parked in FRONT of the church in MY space. I am 68 years old...pleas ask him/her to park elsewhere for the hour long service! read more

This company shamelessly ripped off an older couple in the neighborhood. They started by replacing a furnace, claiming it was 30 years old and not repairable. By looking up the serial number, It was only 12 years old and repair parts are readily available. Then they told the homeowners they had to upgrade their electric panel and feed. Considering they were replacing a gas fired furnace and not adding any capacity, a totally unnecessary job. So months later, after many visits, failed inspections, and questionable efforts, the homeowner is out thousands of dollars and has several items unfinished. read more

We called Michael & Son Services to have them come out and repair a leaky water main. They said they would come out and fix the pipe and come by the following day without a service charge. We would of course need to pay for the repair. We agreed - however, they didn't even send a technician out. We found out when we called them hours later when that they wouldn't do the work because the hole was already dug - a fact we explained to them several times when we made the appointment and that they led us to believe wouldn't be a problem. We took time off work to be here for this appointment, and we still have water spilling into our yard. It's a waste of water, and it's impacting our water bill. We could've had a different company come out and fix it by now if they had just been up front with us from the start. This company left a disabled veteran out to dry, committed to work they couldn't actually do, then bailed on it without communicating properly or even showing up for the work. This cost me hundreds of dollars personally in both time and water, and now we are stuck scrambling to find someone who can come by at almost 5pm on a weeknight. This company is beyond unprofessional and they do not care about you or your home. Go do business literally with anyone else you can find in your area. read more

My daughter contacted Michael and Son to replace an outlet. Although the web site states replacement outlets start at $230, she was charged $411. When I called to ask for an explanation of how a $20 part and a twenty minute service call resulted in $411, Terrill could not have been more rude and belligerent. I was told repeatedly that my daughter signed off before the work started. I asked how is a 25 year old who has never called an electrician before supposed to know what is a reasonable cost and I got the same response, that the work was approved prior to starting. If there was a legitimate reason for the higher expense, I gave Terrill the opportunity to explain but he could not, just kept repeating that the work was approved before starting. Without justification of the amount charged, leads me to believe they took advantage of a younger customer and this company cannot be trusted. read more

Would be careful I purchased a silver plan from Michael and Son. My furnace service came due. A technician was sent to perform the service. In the past, technicians have called me to walk me through what they've found and what they would recommend since it's a rental property and I am not physically there. This time was different. The tech arrived and I heard nothing. Then I received a text message saying a consultant would be giving me a call. I was confused so I called Michael and sons and asked for an explanation. The customer service employee explained that the tech was recommending a new furnace. The unit is 5 years old so I was in legit shock! This was also just part of my service plan... I had no issues with the furnace. I asked for some clarity on why the Tech was recommending a new furnace and she said in the notes it said it wouldn't turn on. I was immediately confused since it was winter and my tenant had not complained about not having heat. Again I want to emphasize this was just routine in my service plan. I requested that the tech give me a call. An hour later, my tenant called me to say the heat was working fine before the tech came and now the heat was not working. In the middle of a snow storm I was even more confused and very concerned. I called Michael and Sons yet again and no one could transfer me to the tech or a manager. I had no choice but to call another company to go out and look at the furnace. The company called me to let me know the furnace had been turned off. $250 later the new company simply turned it back on and told me my furnace was in amazing shape. I called Michael and sons again to get clarity on why: A) the tech was telling me I needed a new furnace and B) why I wasn't hearing back from anyone at Michael and Sons! The customer service line could not transfer me to a manager for the 3rd or 4th time but said they could submit a note/ticket on my case about the matter. I tried calling for assistance / explanation a few more times that week. Then my husband tried a few times the following week. Again nothing. Three months later I got a call about scheduling my plumbing service that was included in my plan and I was in disbelief! I really thought they were calling me to finally talk over the incident. But nope. What was even more shocking, the customer service person told me there weren't any notes in my case!!! I then again requested a phone call regarding this situation. And welp here I am 4 months later... many phone calls and many email inquirers later, I've yet to get an explanation or an apology... from Michael and Sons ....just an invoice in the mail. When in reality I deserved a refund !!! I am Very disappointed that I even have to write this review. My entire family and I have used Michael and sons for over 5 years. Skip this company for any remodeling work/repairs after a flood or sewage backup incident. I was completely ghosted by Michael & Son after they'd already started the job. Now I'm stuck with a complete disaster in my lower level and running around looking for someone to finish their work! I wanted to like this company. They seemed to have the right business model in terms of being a one stop shop for getting your home back to normal as quickly as possible after a flood or sewage back incident (our scenario). But, I knew in my gut that it wasn't really a sustainable model and I was right. The plumbing response (once they actually sent someone who could do something) and cleanup services were fine. Everything after that has been a complete nightmare. We've waited a month (and sent multiple requests) just for an estimate. That's after having to call to remind them about the dry wall and flooring they had ripped out and that needed to be replaced. We've been using Michael & Son for a few years. We had the premium service contract for 2 zones. Our HVAC went down, so I called in for service. Despite the service contract, we were told it would be OVER A WEEK (10 days) before we could get service! RIDICULOUS! We had 2 new AC systems put in with a humidifier on the unit downstairs. We just found out that the humidifier was never hooked up into the water line. It was never working, BUT we were told the filter needed to be changed. We paid for work that was never needed (filter change) plus the poor quality of installation. Every time a tech comes for service and makes changes on the thermostat, they never reset the settings to where we had them before they leave. Find a better contractor! read more

I called Sunday, 7/14/24, about 1:45 pm, to request electrical service. I explained it was an emergency to resolve the issue. I am a 24/7 caregiver for my 96yo mother and the lack of electricity was creating a hardship. They scheduled an appt on Sunday from 6 pm-12midnite. They also informed me of an additional emergency fee of $169 on top of the service costs. (Immediately they wanted payment info on the spot!). (Now checking the bank acct to make sure they don't even try to levy a charge!) if a Monday appointment would allow me to avoid the extra fee, they said their next available appt would be 2 weeks later! I replied "well I guess it's an emergency and was prepared to pay the fee". As the hours passed, I checked their automated status update for tech arrival which changed each time I called getting later and later. They never showed nor did they communicate any further with me via text or phone. On Monday morning, I called another provider and had the problem serviced and resolved by 11 am! Excellent experience after the disappointment I was left with by Michael and Sons. The "grapevine" told me the ownership has changed and their former good rating has certainly diminished due to unknowledgeable service techs and price gouging. Michael and Sons used to be my go to firm for professional service. They tech are generally respectful and do a good job. I've had one out of about five that was suspect. Here's the rub, they scheduled me twice to come out, only to call me on the last hour and say, oops our tech is running late. My time is valuable, this isn't 1960, where folks are sitting on their behind waiting for the guy to show up. And the "Gold" plan has really turned out to be a big disappointment. I called Michael and Son who offered 24 hour service so I would not have to worry about a basement flood. Trey arrived at 9 and replaced the valve with no problem.
