There are 4 docs rotating and everyone we are buddies with... Yoni delivered via C section bc our little guy was breach with minimal fluid to rotate and umbilical cord around neck... Dr Yoni held me and breathed with me during the needles for anasisia (sp?) moments before C section surgery, his love and care and gentleness calmed my high blood pressured induced anxiety --- and minutes later delivered our baby boy healthy and strong!!! The recovery for the C section has been EXCELLENT!!!!!! It's 2 weeks and I'm off of pain meds with mobility! Every nurse at the hospital complemented the incision and how great it is!!! We are so grateful for them! Everyone one!!! Everyone is amazing from reception to scheduling to billing -- the best with working with the insurances. The front office is so effective in their ability to get you into the office working with your schedule--- and they are soooooo kind in doing it! If you are seeking a place to go... look no further!!! We absolutely love this office. After seeing the high-level claims in my insurance portal, I requested an itemized statement and billing/coding information from Lizaveta, the billing coordinator, so I could understand the charges submitted to my insurance. Instead, this turned into an exhausting back-and-forth where the requested information was repeatedly not provided. My issue is the lack of transparency, lack of proactive communication regarding billing implications, and how unnecessarily difficult it was to obtain basic billing documentation. As someone with endometriosis who unfortunately has extensive experience navigating healthcare billing and insurance, this was a simple request made unnecessarily difficult. While I have liked the doctors I've seen at Pure OBGYN, my interactions with the billing department have unfortunately left me with a very negative impression of the practice overall. Color me impressed…read more I do have a regular gynecologist at Juno Medical in Harlem, but I was referred to Lily Wong after going to the CityMD on 50th & 2nd for an urgent women's health matter that they couldn't address, despite advertising gynecologic services at that site. (That...that is another story and perhaps another Yelp review. Ha!) I won't go into full details on my condition, but I am immunocompromised and have been since 2008. When I went to the CityMD to address my condition, I showed the physician my issue, but also noted to him that I was experiencing issues that manifest in me when I have a systemic infection: I was feeling lightheaded, had waves of nausea and little appetite, and felt general malaise. After 13 years, I've learned symptoms of my infections pretty well! I occasionally, but not always, run a fever as well. They ran vitals on me and did not draw blood, only did a urine test. My doctor concluded that since my uranalysis was normal, I didn't have a fever, and that I was lightheaded but not fully dizzy, that I was "fine", but would refer me to Dr. Wong for follow-up. I kept advocating for myself because I didn't want to end up in an emergency room if I really had an infection, but all they said is that they'd refer me. I felt my concerns fell on deaf ears. *sigh* When I arrived at Dr. Wong's office a few days later - by that time, I was feeling much better symptoms-wise, but was still dealing with my women's health issue overall which I thought was the source of my potential infection - I was grateful. The office was bright & clean, COVID-protection measures were in place, and all staff - both front desk and clinical - were too kind. What impressed me most was that Dr. Wong took care to read the notes I sent in prior to my visit. As someone that is asplenic - i.e. I have no spleen - she was asking me questions about my blood work, how my platelet levels were, and if I took any additional medications regarding my asplenia. I really took to heart that she asked me these questions, as my asplenia is usually just a passive note that is *not* followed up on by other doctors outside of my PCP. I'm really glad she asked me those questions out of genuine concern. She took my concerns about infection seriously as well & checked the issue; if I had an infection, it likely resolved by the time I made it to her office, but she gave me a thorough examination, gave me a few in-office and at-home options to treat it, and I felt both physical and mental relief after seeing her. Just to be taken seriously after my less - than - stellar CityMD experience took a weight off of my chest. Sure enough, I followed her at-home instructions for treating my issue, and it resolved within days. Thanks to Dr. Wong and her staff! Even if this is my only experience with her, I would highly recommend her to those looking for a regular gynecologist!

The front desk ladies are super friendly and professional. So making an appt and checking in was easy. I recall arriving 30 minutes early knowing I had paperwork to do since I was new and I was probably called to go see the doc 20 minutes prior to my actual appt time. The office is spacious and very clean. My first visit was straight forward and prompt. Dr Scheff was quick but personable. I didn't feel rushed at all. But then again, I didn't have anything in particular going for me to take more time asking. Just went in for a routine. Most recently, I went again for a different reason. Again, the front desk is super sweet. Nurse is also good as well. Dr Scheff, upon reading back my history, remembered me from my first visit. When talking about the reason for my visit she took the time to gather all her knowledge and spoke to me about the different options and routes we will go through. She even gave me a call after my appt to let me know that upon thinking further about my case she wanted to change something about the plan. Which I thought was nice that she called and cared enough to think more into it even after I stepped out the door. Once she received results of my bloodwork and ultrasound (which was super quick. Only waited 4 days - which includes the weekend) she called me immediately to discuss my results and what my next steps are. Some people may think calling instead of seeing her face to face isn't personable but when you have a $$$ copayment these things matter.lol. I wouldn't want to pay $$$ for a 5 minute quick conversation. And Dr Scheff understands that. HOWEVER, that does not mean that you can't make an appt to see her! You definitely can and you can choose to do so. I'm just fine with a phone call (for this situation). If you're looking more for a doc who talks slower (Dr Scheff is a speedy one) and takes more than 15 minutes for an appointment (*note: time with patient and optimal care are not equivalent to each other. Meaning just because a doc takes longer doesn't mean they're taking better car of you and vice versa), I suggest searching elsewhere. As of now, I'll keep going to Dr Scheff :)
