I have been a patient of Dr. Chinn and the group for quite some time now. I can agree with the reviews regarding wait times, however please keep in mind alot of these pregnant women and other patients can have medical issues that may require more time than the next patient. Please be patient as these Mommies may be new Mom's with sick babies or they are sick themselves Dr. Chinn is most definitely worth the wait. Her attention to detail is amazing, she explains everything in detail before and after she is done. Her nursing staff is also super friendly. I just had an appt with Dr. Chinn in the Secaucus location. I had my appt at 1:15pm and I got out at 4:38pm. Yes you read that right. I am beyond upset My first and last time I would ever go there. She isn't worth the wait. I was so annoyed that I just wanted her to do my exam ad not even make small talk. She does tell you play by play what she will do but I really just her to be quiet and do what she needed to do. Til next yr I will have to figure out another obgyn cause there is no way I would ever wait that long. 30 mins tops but 3 hrs and a half. Nooo I couldn't tell you much my expereince cause the time just threw me off. 1:15pm My appt I got weighted at 3:48 and then 4:08pm I got called in. Changed my clothes was completely naked and she finally came in 4:23pm If you want to go to her clear out your schedule. read more

Dr. Chinn I think has the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. She is very detailed and explains things to you in a manner in which you can understand. She also takes her time and you never feel rushed and allows you to ask questions. She is also an advocate for self-care and overall well-being which I really like about seeing her. The other staff/communication in the office is hit or miss, but that is like most doctors offices and I don't think is reflective of her services. Getting appointment is sometimes a bit tricky as you can't book in much advance and she is mostly located now in Edgewater now which isn't as convenient transportation wise. However, waiting times in the Edgewater office are much faster than Hoboken. Hoboken I have had extremely fast appointments to having to be rescheduled later in the day because they are running behind. I would highly recommend her and am very thankful to have found her. read more

I'll put it this way, if you would like to waste 1/2 a day of work for a 20 min consultation, definitely go to this doctor. The office is disorganized, rude. The doctor has good bed side manners but the whole experience isn't worth the average 1.5-2 hour wait time. She blamed it on the management office. Sure. Another woman who came in at 9 for a 9:30 appointment but they couldn't locate her in the system! I left at close to 11 for my 9:15 appointment and the poor pregnant lady was still sitting there waiting to be seen. These people have no respect for others' time. read more

Do not use Dr. Chinn or this office if you are pregnant and want a healthy baby and reliable doctor. I went in for my first visit at the Edgewater office and was there from 8am until 12:30pm. I had an 8am appointment and the doctor didn't arrive at the office until 10am. Still, I had heard good things and figured it would be worth it. I had had a difficult history and was told that I wouldn't be able to have kids, but there I was pregnant and terrified. Dr. Chinn completely disregarded my history and met with me for maybe 20 minutes (not enough time for a first prenatal appointment). They ran blood tests... which I never received results for. I called the doctors office five times and was sent to voicemail or told they would pass on the message each time. Still I never heard back. Finally I went back in for a follow-up ultrasound appointment and asked the front desk for my results. Though the front desk staff was friendly, they first gave me someone else's results, what I imagine is a huge breach in patient confidentiality. I gave it back and then finally they handed me a 10 page print out of my results, that since I am not a doctor I didn't understand. She said that it looks like I had an infection. I asked if the doctor had reviewed my results in the 3+ weeks since I was there and if so why I hadn't heard back. The receptionist looked perplexed. After receiving heart wrenching news at our ultrasound appointment (on a Saturday so no doctor was on-site) we called the operator number to get answers and next steps. I was upset and crying on the phone and the operator for the doctor on call told me that if I couldn't compose myself she would hang up. The doctor on call told me that she was at the hospital and the the client she was with was more important but that she would call me back in an hour. 5 hours later and surprise surprise, no call. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of both consideration and care provided by this office! No one should have to go through that with a doctor. read more

This review is for the edgewater location. Had a 12:30 appointment with Dr. Chinn. At 1:15 I asked when I would see doctor. Was told there were 4 patients in front of me as doctor came in late. What?!! And no one called to let patients know doctor was running late? Ok I decide to wait since I'm already here. After a 2.5 hour wait and many excuses I was taken to a room. After a few questions, was told dr would be in shortly. After 20 minutes still no dr. I asked support staff and they told me there were 2 more patients before me (serious? when they had told me I was next). Well, after an additional 15 minutes I had enough. 3.5 hours waiting for a Doctor is just ridiculous! Got up and told desk I was leaving. No one apologized. No one really seemed to care actually. Will NEVER make an appt with this doctor ever again or at this location. STAY AWAY is all I can say and don't waste your time or money! read more

I'm writing this because people are way more prone to write a review if they have a bad experience, and I had a great one, so I wanted to share. As a new patient, Dr. Chinn took the time to discuss 360 medical issues with me. From possible genetic testing to overall health. She was caring, had good humor and took time to conduct a lengthy interview and examination. I feel confident I've found a doctor who cares and who can help me as I move to the next stage in my life. I feel really lucky that I found this office and this doctor. I also did not experience a wait time and the supporting staff was great. This was literally my very worst medical experience to date in my entire life. The incompetence of the office staff is astounding and the office manager, Alan Hirsch, was so incredibly dismissive of my feelings and concerns. I visited the Hoboken branch of this office in late August and saw Dr. Samantha Lowe (who is new to the staff). I inquired about getting the copper iud Paragard and Dr. Lowe gave me the instructions as to how to go about ordering it--she told me to call Paragard, give them the office address and they would send it and bill my insurance. Upon calling Paragard I was told this was the completely WRONG way to go about ordering it. I called the office, confused, and spoke to Carmen in Billing who informed me that is not how they go about ordering it, and Dr Lowe gave me the wrong information. She said she would order it for me and call me to let me know when it was delivered. That was on September 3rd. I hadn't heard from them in about two weeks so I tried to call to follow up. Key word there is "tried". Getting someone to actually answer the phone is like pulling teeth, and once someone does answer the phone, the only response I ever got to my inquiries about my iud were that they would try to find out what was going on and call me back. I never got these calls back that I was promised. Not even once. I called numerous times over the past few weeks, losing my patience more and more, and each time was told that they needed to call me back. Finally I demanded to speak to the office manager and I was told he was in a meeting and they would give him my name and number and yes, you guessed it...HE WOULD CALL ME BACK. That was last Tuesday, and needless to say I did not get a call back. I called this past Monday and was told that once again, the office manager was in a meeting and would call me. Three hours later I still did not get a call so I called them and FINALLY got on the phone with Alan Hirsch. He confirmed my suspicions and said this was the first he had heard of me and was never given any of my previous messages to call. He promised to find out what was going on and said he would call me back by the end of the day. Surprise, surprise...no phone call. He calls me now, two days later, and informs me that they ordered my iud on September 3rd but my insurance company still hasn't gotten back to them to let them know if I was covered or not. I asked him why they hadn't followed up sooner...if a patient needs something and you file a claim with the insurance company, it is UNACCEPTABLE to not follow up for THREE WEEKS while I sit around without any form of birth control playing phone tag with them. He told me he didn't understand why I was so upset, he didn't like my attitude, and was insulted and was taking it personally that I could POSSIBLY have the nerve to insinuate his staff and office was incompetent. Well, when Im sitting around for six weeks hounding a medical office to get me my prescription and keep getting the brush off, and then I find out your staff hasn't followed up to my claim in a month, yes, I would absolutely say your office is incompetent. He told me if I had such a problem with the situation at hand, I should call my insurance company and ask why they're taking so long to follow up. Umm, excuse me?? I believe that's the office's job..NOT MINE. Needless to say I told them I would no longer be a patient at their office, and I am so appalled by the way things were handled I'm actually filing a formal complaint with The Better Business Bureau. I don't know about anyone else, but I take my reproductive care very seriously, and I find it appalling, shocking, and unacceptable that the business of getting some birth control for myself was handled with no importance whatsoever. It's been more than a month since my first office visit and still no iud....unacceptable and ridiculous. An absolute nightmare of an experience. read more

Unfortunately due to scheduling issues, my last 2 appointments with Dr Chinn were with her colleagues, Dr. Brescia and Dr. Lowe. I typically see Dr. Chinn - who is kind, thoughtful, and caring. Nothing short of a consummate professional. Given the sensitivity of the nature of the visit, Doctors Chinn, Lowe, and Brescia could not be more caring and thoughtful. They take the time to thoroughly review my medical records and spend time with me evaluating every exam and test. Had a health scare last year and Dr. Chinn could not have been more attentive and supportive. They are a busy practice - as is any successful, compassionate one. I am beyond disappointed and downright appalled by Dr. Chinn and her office's staff. I met with Dr. Chinn for my first prenatal appointment on September 17, 2012. From the beginning of my appointment I was turned off by the office. As the receptionist asked for my name, she yawned mid-sentenced without covering her mouth and then abruptly interrupted our conversation mid-sentence to compliment a nurse's scrub. The least she could do was focus on me for the two minutes it takes to collect my personal information. My husband and I waited for over an hour to see Dr. Chinn. As a first time mother, I had several questions for Dr. Chinn. I wanted to know about her practice and experience. I think it's perfectly reasonable for a patient to ask their doctor basic questions, such as "how long have you been at this office," and "how long have you been practicing." When I asked Dr. Chinn how long she had been at the office, she became defensive and evasive. I was by no means attacking her or suggesting she is not qualified, I simply wanted some professional background about the person who could possibly deliver my child. Needless to say, I did not find Dr. Chinn forthcoming. The visit was over in no time. I wanted to chat at greater length about diet etc. I felt like I was on an assembly line of pregnant women going through the first visit drill--take some pamphlets and read them over. Thanks. I asked whether there were any recommended pregnancy books. Their response: What to Expect When You're Expecting? Really!? I, along with pretty much everyone else, already know about this immensely popular book. Heck, the book was even made into a movie. I was looking for some useful reading suggestions. Another disappointment. After seeing Dr. Chinn, I gave a blood and urine sample. The nurse told me she would call with the results. The next day I called for the results myself. The nurse told me what she knew at the moment. However, according to the nurse some tests take a little longer. She assured me she would call if anything came up. Fine by me. After, I changed doctors based on my disappointing appointment. Two weeks, 15 days to be exact, after my appointment with Dr. Chinn I called the office to transfer my medical file and asked about the remaining exam results out of curiosity. I assumed that because Dr. Chinn's office had not contacted me, the results were normal. WRONG. Turns out, I have an infection and not one person from Dr. Chinn's office called me! I've had an unknown, untreated infection for over two weeks. I DO NOT RECCOMEND Dr. Chinn. I cannot speak for the other doctors in her group as I did not see them. The office is unprofessional and reckless. If you value your health and your child's health, go to another doctor. read more

I'm a hard to deal with patient at first.... I know I am. I have my guard up and I don't like anything invasive. Needed an ob/gyn checkup after xx years! Dr Chinn was very soft spoken and understanding. She can read that I was highly uncomfortable just being there. It was over so quickly and it was a big relief. Terrible experience with this doctor. I had a simple procedure done in the office with her. So much pain, excruciating pain. Mind you I have had two c-sections, one surgery and went into labor with my first one. I know pain. This was different. In fact it was so painful I had to stop the procedure. The most disturbing part is she had no remorse and was not apologetic at all about what she did, no sympathy or compassion. I do not recommend this doctor. My appointment was at 2:30pm and I arrived 2:20pm. I filled the questionnaire as I was a new patient. This office was referred to me by Riverside Medical Group so I went there. The nurse came to see me at 3PM and after taking my weight and medical history she asked me to put the gown on and the doctor would be in shortly. I waited for the doctor from 3:10pm until 3:45pm. At 3:15PM I went out and asked one of the nurses and I was told I am next as the doctor is in with another patient. Still waited but NO SHOW! No one even came to check on me or give me any update or apologize for the delay. A complete waste of time. I decided to dress up and leave. The receptionist asked me if I was all finished and I told her i had not even started and that my time was wasted and this is unacceptable to be left waiting from 2:30 pm. She said sorry and she would let the doctor know while not even taking her eyes off her computer. Basically she did not even care. Worst experience ever. I waited a month for this appointment and had to take off of work to be there. read more

I have lived in NJ for 4 years and it has taken me that long to find a new gyno. I loved mine in Michigan and was nervous to find a new one who would be as gentle and understanding. I'm so glad I waited because Dr. Chinn is amazing! The wait time wasn't ideal but, it was worth the extra 15 minutes to meet with her. She's soft spoken, kind, gentle, and very informative. Great doctor, horrible staff. I wanted to remove my implanon. The staff told me I would have to set up a consultation first. I went to my consultation which I found redundant. I don't understand Why planned parenthood will do a same day removal but they won't. The dr. Chinn tells me to schedule the removal because it's a procedure that takes up to and hour and she likes to take her time . When I leave I go check out and ask if I had to pay anything she says no it's just a consultation and I leave. 2 weeks later I get a $250 bill. The claim was rejected because whoever put it in did not do so correctly and claimed I came in for contraception. On my second appointment to actually remove the implant the nurse takes me into the room and asks if I'm here for an IUD removal. I tell her no an implanon implant removal. She then asks me to sit back in the waiting room because that procedure will be done in another room. Fine, we get called back and sit in the room for 45 min just so she can come back and tell me that they will not perform the procedure because whoever scheduled the apt placed it as an IUD removal not an implant removal. Dr. Chinn was very pleasant and professional during my first visit however due to her staffs negligence and unprofessional protocol I have cancelled all appointments with the group. read more

I am writing a well deserved review I had an appointment as a new patient and I am so glad to have found Dr. Chinn! I was skeptical at first as many of the doctors I searched under my insurance had horrible reviews. I googled her name and she had great reviews compared to other doctors which had none or bad ones. She is not located as close as I wanted but it was worth driving to her office in Edgewater. I had an evening appointment, the whole appointment took about half hour considering I was a new patient and only one other person before me which was great! (And that's with all the questions I had asked her) Dr. Chinn was so sweet and very informative. I felt very comfortable with her, she answered every question and I didn't feel rushed at all. I have been through a few gynecologist but she made me feel so comfortable. I had my first appointment with Natasha Chinn a few weeks ago. She was so warm, welcoming and incredibly kind. She answered all my questions and made me feel so comfortable. I was actually in shock when I left, because I never felt this way after leaving a doctors office. I walked out of the office extremely happy to know I found my doctor. I highly recommend her.
