Good repair work, but extremely poor communication and customer service!! The work done on my car at MiCar looks good, and I appreciate the quality of the actual repairs. However, the overall experience left me very disappointed due to repeated communication failures and a lack of clear processes around payment and pickup. I manage a locally owned business with multiple locations, so I understand how much good communication and clear expectations matter. From the start, I was never given a timeline or even a general idea of how long my car would be in the shop. I arranged my own ride to drop off my car and then to the rental car location, only later finding out they could have provided a ride--something no one mentioned upfront. My assigned representative told me he typically communicates with customers on Tuesdays and Fridays, which I thought was great. I clearly told him multiple times that I would be out of town on business from November 2nd through November 10th and would not be able to pick up my car during that window. Each time, he said, "No problem." He later called to say my car was out of paint and just waiting on a side rail, and that it should be ready the following week--which we both knew was the week I would be away. Again, I reminded him I'd be out of town and might not be able to get the car until Tuesday 11/11. Again, I was told it was "no problem." While I was away, I received a call on Thursday, November 6th letting me know my car was ready. I thanked him and reminded him yet again that I was out of town and would likely pick it up on Tuesday 11/11, but I would try to find someone who could pick it up for me. At no point in any of these conversations was I told that I would need to pay my $500 deductible at pickup, or that they would not accept a credit card over the phone if someone else came on my behalf. I run a large establishment where we deal with deductibles all day long--paying a deductible is not an issue for me. Lack of communication about the deductible and payment method is. On Friday, I rearranged my morning, worked remotely, and scrambled to find someone who could pick up my car. My daughter agreed to go. I called MiCar as soon as I got her message saying she was on the way, and my representative told me she was there picking up the vehicle. Still, no mention of the deductible or payment restrictions. My daughter then called me from the front desk and handed the phone to the receptionist, who took my credit card information over the phone and said they would process the payment. A few minutes later, my daughter called back to say they would not take payment over the phone and would not release my car to her. At that point, I was understandably upset. There had been multiple opportunities for someone to clearly communicate: * That the deductible had to be paid at pickup * That they would not accept credit card payments over the phone * That if someone else was going to pick up my car, there were specific requirements or limitations Instead, I was given reassurance that my being out of town was "no problem," and then my daughter and I were put in an awkward and entirely avoidable situation at the very end. The repairs themselves seem fine, but the lack of communication, inconsistent information, and poor handling of payment and pickup policies showed a serious gap in customer service and internal procedures. I'm proud to run a business where we would never let our clients be caught off guard like this, especially after they've been very clear about their constraints from the beginning. I sincerely hope MiCar reviews this process, trains their staff to communicate payment and pickup policies upfront, and avoids putting other customers in the same situation. I arrived at the business and was warmly greeted. My car was examined and the young lady stated I'll want to see something. She returned with a cloth and bottle and began rubbing the area I thought was damaged the markings were removed and no damage was left. I believe this could have been so different because I would not have known painting not needed. I debated on whether or not to write a review. It's possible they're great and I just had a one off bad experience. I gave 3 stars because they were responsive to the issues it was just an exhausting experience and we had multiple issues. We're new to the area and thankfully I don't have any other collision experience to compare them to. I was hopeful when I received a strong recommendation for them from one of my Facebook groups. My van was hit while parked in a parking spot and I needed to get it fixed through the other persons insurance. I stopped by to get a quote and I met with Josh. He presented well, took photos and gave me a quote right away. Unfortunately they didn't have availability for a couple of months. I sent the quote to the insurance anyway. They approved it and I scheduled it for the beginning of November. Tina called about a week later and they had received the check from insurance and they could fit me in right away. She coordinated the rental and I dropped the van off on 9/28! If I was reviewing only Tina I'd give this place 5 stars. If she's not a manager, she should be! She's excellent with customers, extremely competent and friendly. I worked with her on a few occasions throughout this experience and each interaction set the standard for what customer service should be. Bottom line: I think they have more work than they can handle and lack the quality control to give a quality product back to the customer. If you like details: They had the van longer than I expected for the smallish job it was. Josh called and let me know it was ready. I asked about the alignment I requested and he assured me all was well over the phone. I confirmed I'd be able to see the paperwork when I picked it up. When I arrived they had taken it for one last test drive and the alignment wasn't quite right so they were finishing up the alignment when I arrived. I was irritated but also thankful it was getting done. Just felt like that wasn't the full story. The car was ready. I went out the check the work. In addition to the accident fix I had paid out of pocket to have them attach a cover that was coming off. It was the first thing I checked. It hadn't been touched. I had to wait while they attached it. This was pretty frustrating since they had my van for 1.5 weeks. It's also where I really started to doubt the quality of workmanship that was done on the van. I'm not sure how 2 very small items could have been missed. If these were missed issues, what issues were missed that I can't see? Now I'm concerned and frustrated. They fixed the cover and I went back out the do the final check. Everything seemed fine to me but I was frustrated and just ready to go. When I got home my husband noticed that that the bumper wasn't flush and there was some paint chipped off the bumper that wasn't an issue when I had dropped it off. Ugh. So, the next morning I called and they had me bring it back in. I met with Josh again and we looked at the drop off pics. It was clear to me that the spot was not there when I left the van with them but he started to argue with me about it and then said "I can't deal with this right now I have 5 others I'm working on. I'm calling a manager to handle this." It was out of the blue and again frustrating in the way he said it as I had not been combative in any way, only resolute in the fact that the chip was not there when I dropped it off and they needed to fix it. The manager Danny was now working with me and I needed to explain all the issues again. We reviewed the bumper not being flush and I was going to leave it with them to fix it again. It was a very confusing conversation for me. We seemed to go off topic and talked about other chips in the bumper then the one I had an issue with. He offered to fix them for a greatly discounted cost but I couldn't make the decision on spending that much money on a bumper I didn't know if it would actually work once they did the next fix. Finally we got on the same page and he said they could fix the bumper and paint the one issue spot while I waited. They did. They fixed it and looked it over with me. I still don't think the bumper fits properly on the can but at this point he said the only thing they could do to get it right is to replace it completely. He wasn't sure why the estimator didn't just do that at first but said it's probably because it's a tough case to get insurance to pay for it. This comment frustrated me even more so I just left at this point. I wish they had just done it right from the beginning. Their lack of quality work now affects the value of my vehicle. They spoke about me wanting to be satisfied and that their warranties set them apart. I'm thankful for the warranties but I'm still not satisfied with the quality of work that was done. I do appreciate that everyone spoke to me as a competent person and they didn't once speak in a condescending tone as I've experienced in other car repair locations. read more

I had to get some car body work estimated. As soon as I came, i was greeted and asked to be seated. One gentleman was even welcoming being chatty telling me I came at the right time since power just came back on. I was helped by Justin an estimator. He was so efficient, took pictures, quickly pointed out what he can visually see needs to be done. When we went inside, he promptly tapped on his keyboard and within minutes had an estimate. He also explained that there could be other things which not visually accounted for until they take things apart. He even was sympathetic and said sorry that he understood how I felt having to get an unexpected expense. When I asked him how soon they. Am start work and for how long, he gave the information with the proper caveat that he'd rather give me a realistic timeframe and if they can get me in sooner and/or finish the work sooner than 6 days, they'd of course do so. I have taken multiple cars to MiCar Collision over the years and they have done excellent work each time. My most recent visit wasn't quite an A+ but I'm still happy overall. I had a scrape on my door repaired. When I picked up my car, I had to clean it when I got home because there was a lot of wax residue left over. Not easily removed by that point, but not too terrible. Also, someone was a little rough with my push button ignition switch and broke it. I replaced that on my own ($50.00) because I know they are pretty fragile and the tabs are easily broken. No issue there. MiCar Collision Center did a fantastic job on my VW GTI. The hood was damaged due to a fence falling on it during a storm. It wasn't a large dent, but small dimples from where a fence's locking mechanism had hit it. It had a few small dimples on the hood and the paint was scratched down to bare metal. I dropped the vehicle off on Friday and it was repaired, repainted and ready to go by Tuesday morning. If you are skeptical about where to take your car for body work... look no further. The process of getting a quote, getting parts ordered, & using insurance to get the work done was pretty stress free & seamless. The office staff was fairly professional and the work only took a few days. I did not particularly like that I had to call to get an estimated date of when my vehicle would be ready, would've preferred to be called/notified by MiCar. What I can aBsolutely not look past, was the MESS left inside of my vehicle. I had about a basketball sized dent repaired in my drivers side rear door. When I picked up my car in the morning, I inspected the outside of the door, where the dent had been & then entered into my drivers seat. There was the standard paper on the floorboard, that you typically see when you get any work done on your vehicle so it appeared that they took care in the cleanliness.... WRONG! Before I drove off, I had to wipe my windshield because I couldn't see through it very well - it appeared foggy. It was fairly early in the morning & the sun had not hit the windshield fully, so I thought it may have been from the morning dew.... WRONG!!! When I finally got home & was able to look at the rest of the vehicle (because I was getting ready to turn the car back into the dealership & needed to vacuum it out) I noticed that the car was FILTHY!!! There was a white, powder-like film ALL OVER the back two rows of my vehicle! It was mostly on the drivers side, but extended to the passenger side as well & covered the seats, floorboards, doors, seat belts - EVERYTHING!!! It took me hours to vacuum the car out & then I still had to wipe down all of the leather & hard surfaces because vacuuming did not remove everything. I find this completely unsatisfactory. Excluding the dent being repaired, my vehicle was returned in a much worse condition than when I left it with MiCar. I wanted to drive back up to their shop & express my dissatisfaction, but it was Sunday & they were closed & I i was turning my vehicle into the dealership on Monday morning. For this alone I would never use their business again, nor recommend them to anyone - unless of course you are wanting to spend hours deep cleaning your vehicle afterwards. read more

They were accurate in when I would have my van back and called me to provide updates. The tire sensor light case on after I drove the van away so i brought it back. Went there for a quote for a paint job on a left front fender of my truck. They quoted me over a 1000 dollars for it. Went to Maaco in Chesapeake and the quoted me under 500 dollars. I called MiCar and cancelled my appointment just to find out that they have price matching. Apparently the overprice first and hope that some people accept this. My front bumper came off a few days ago in the middle of the road & being pregnant, I didn't want to risk running in the middle of the busy intersection to retrieve it . I was rear-ended on I-64 and needed extensive repairs--body, structural, and exhaust. My Infiniti was 10 years old with some significant dents, scratches, and pitting in the clear coat--just a matter of time before the whole finish started going. Since almost half the car was going to be redone anyway, I paid some extra money out-of-pocket for Micar to refinish the whole thing. Got a very reasonable estimate from Mike and... ...it's GORGEOUS. I wasn't really surprised, since I was here about a year ago for a front facia repair, and already knew the shop did exquisite work. Still, after seeing the whole car looking like brand new, I got that "wow" feeling that made me think that lady on I-64 almost did me a favor by texting-while-driving. After my truck got wrecked the insurance company told me to research different places and decide where to bring my truck for it to be repaired. After spending a few days looking for the highest rated places I found MiCar. They have the highest rating of all the shops in the area and after taking my truck there I understand why: they simply are the best. I am a person of very exacting standards and after talking with literally every person in the office I felt confident that they would do a fantastic job. I asked to be kept informed of the process of my truck and they did just that. I even requested some change orders and they accommodated and accomplished everything to perfection. I even met the guy who was personally working on my truck and he was more than able to repair and replace everything that needed to be. The entire staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and truly have been a pleasure to meet and work with. I highly recommend that this is the only shop for any body work that you may ever need. Meh...maybe I am expecting too much by expecting good as new repairs?? I find it very strange that there is not a QA person here. After dropping off my rental car and hitching a ride there to pick up my ready car , after they had my car for 1 and 1/2 days for a minor ding, inspection revealed according to the person I was speaking to that 'dust got in the paint '. So long story short I had to wait additional time(sitting around their shop for an additional 30 minutes) for the dust to be buffed out. Thanks to my insurance company for the warranty on Mi car's work in case something else comes up. As a first time customer, it will be my last time The dealer is a pain in the butt but quality is never an issue. I do believe if someone had double checked the work the issue would of been resolved before I got there, thereby eliminating the waste of my time. Disappointed as always supporting local business is my priority. Back to the dealer I go.... read more
