We enjoyed the El Fresco dining option. The menu has a good variety of food options. Our orders were taken quickly and our server, Omar, was very friendly and efficient. The food was prepared perfectly and was very tasty. This is a great local restaurant to choose from for your next meal. read more

Mia's Cantina was a phenomenal experience, top to bottom, and highly recommended for anyone looking fot authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine. Our server was very friendly, we were seated quickly, and our food came out piping hot. There is indoor and outdoor seating, to choose at your convenience. They provide complimentary chips and salsa, and the salsa was fantastic! Their tortillas are definitely homemade too, which is a plus. For entrees, we ordered the following: - Carne Asada (marinated skirt steak) which came with a side of black beans and plantains. - Carnitas (slow roasted pork) which came with a side of guacamole and black beans. The Carne Asada had a fantastic char flavor, cooked perfectly to order (I got it medium), and a super juicy marinade. The plantains were very clean and had a dollop of sour cream. There is also a small side of onion and serrano pepper (love the kick it provided to my meal). Any steak lover will come back to this dish time and time again. The Carnitas were super flavorful, juicy, and clean tasting - and a sizeable portion given. Paired with the guacamole, salsa verde, and beans, they were amazing on a tortilla! Some of the best carnitas we've ever had. Overall Mia's Cantina gets a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars. We will absolutely be coming back! read more

Wow! Definitely an upgrade from a year ago! Awesome service and good. We had enough leftovers for 3 more meals. We shall ret

I have never been so disrespected before by a restaurant. I placed a to go order. After I picked it up and got home I realized they left one of our entrees off. I went back and spoke to the manager Omar about the problem. He could not have been more rude and condescending. Mia's should be ashamed to have him as their front person representing them. I have never been spoken to that way by a restaurant employee ever. He never once apologized for the mistake. When he did finally bring my entree out he tossed it on the counter. I asked for a refund for that item and he continued his arrogant tone. Again, his name is Omar and could not have been any ruder. Trust me, I will NEVER go back to Mia's. If anyone ever asks me what I think of Mia's I will happily tell them about how disgusted I was by them and by Omar. read more

Dinner with my husband, the restaurant is cute, clean, and welcoming and the service is awesome. Chips and salsa that began the meal were great, both were freshly made in-house. We had a mojito that was delicious, then I had the carnitas taco meal and he had the chicken mole. Both were delicious and the servings were generous! Tacos came with guac, no surcharge, and were packed with very flavorful meat; I had to stop at one and a half and took the rest home. Mole included two chicken breasts and was tender and very flavorful. We'll be back! read more

Loved it before the remodel. Looks excellent and modern post remodel. Food is still top notch. Service is excellent. Highly recommend Mia's second to none when is comes to Mexican cuisine in Mount Prospect. read more

The new addition to the restaurant is very nice. The bar has so much more room. The service lacked the usual friendliness and happy vibe. Chips and salsa were great but the tacos were 1/3 filled and looked thrown together. We also had a shrimp dish that was good. Seemed off the night we were there so we will have to give it another try this summer. read more

My husband and I stopped by this place on a whim because it smelled so good and the food looked amazing as we passed by on the street. We ordered the queso as an appetizer. It came in a mini cast iron skillet, and almost tasted like beer cheese instead of traditional queso, but it was amazing! The chips seem like they're probably made in-house as well. I ordered the fried Baja tacos and was very impressed! The batter was perfect, but the chipotle sauce was the star of the show! My husband got the burrito and told me he enjoyed it as well! There was a sign at the door saying it was the top rated Mexican restaurant in Mt Prospect and I can understand why! It is a small restaurant, but we were still able to get in on a Friday evening in about 10 minutes. It's very colorful and fun inside, and the service was great. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're in the area! read more

Great spot. Yummy food a good drinks. Friendly staff! I always get the steak fajitas.

Sofrita was tasty but more of a taco style which I wasn't expecting but still very tasty. My dad enjoyed the burrito suizo covered in salsa and cheese. My aunt got the carnitas and was wowed by the bountiful deliciousness. Would go back for sure read more

Mia's is a small but cute Mexican restaurant in Mount Prospect. It has a curbside patio which is where we dined. This is my second trip here and both times I got variations on the skirt steak which is really good. I chose the TAMPIQUENA this time around. This is a cilantro marinated skirt steak served with a cheese enchilada, and covered in mole sauce, black beans, guacamole, grilled onions, and grilled jalapenos. I found the mole to be quite good and the steak was juicy and cooked perfectly. The service was also good, and I will be back to try other dishes. I'd say my only real complaint was the fact that they didn't have a paper menu. It's a scan only menu, and although it's not a problem for me, my girlfriend's phone always has problems with these so we were sharing my phone a bit to decide. I also thought what if someone didn't have a phone or maybe is elderly and didn't know how to work it or have the app? I think that's a little bit of a hassle. I'd also say the salsa is quite bland. I asked the server to bring me something with some more kick - which she did - but I don't think it was salsa. It was more like hot sauce. The chips were very good, but it's time to pair it up with a 5 star salsa. So, barring the menu issue and the salsa, everything else was superb. Good margaritas and very tasty food at Mia's, go check them out! read more

Mia's Cantina is a family owned restaurant that's loved in the downtown Mt Prospect area!! I had it for my first time yesterday and it did not disappoint. I got the carne asada which came with pico, plantains, and some lettuce. It was definitely tasty but a little too pink/bloody for my tasting. My friends got the mahi mahi tacos and the chicken and steak fajitas, which were all super yummy! We all got frozen margaritas, too, which were easily a 10/10. The only reason I docked a star is the size and wait for the restaurant - they should totally think about expanding the restaurant or moving to a bigger location. They have the customers, just not the space. They also don't take reservations, so for a table of 4 on a Friday night we waited around 35 minutes to be sat. The servers were all so nice and personable, it just took a while for us to get our food. They have a lot of to-go orders, as well. Overall I'd definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be back! read more

Simple, yet excellent! If you're looking for a step up in your casual Mexican craving, come to Mia's. The chips are fresh and the salsa is good when in house dining. We started our meal with the granadita cocktail - not too sweet and refreshing. My boyfriend ordered the steak burrito dinner. Burrito had a healthy portion of meat which made him happy. He just wished it came with sour cream. Very good otherwise! I had their taco Tuesday special (minimum of 3 tacos). All tacos are double tortilla which I love. I ordered the camaron (shrimp), nortenos (steak with pico), and Baja. The nortenos was my favorite one! It's a step up from just a casual steak taco, but better! I would recommend and return here for business, thank you for a simple, yet delicious dinner! read more

I am so upset we didn't discover Mia's Cantina sooner! The food here is absolutely top notch. Even my picky as heck kid begs to go there (he's a fan of the steak tacos). For me, the Tacos Norteños are the winner, I've never had anything like it anywhere else. The flavor of the sauce, the fresh meat and toppings, absolutely stellar. Great beans and rice too. The service is always quick and friendly, the man who has taken care of us both times seamlessly runs the bar and waited on us as well. The restaurant is clean and large, would be great for big groups, and my husband plans to bring his work colleagues for a meal there soon! Decorations are bright and fun. We are huge fans, now we are telling everyone to check it out! 5 stars without hesitation. read more

We enjoyed ourselves. This was the first time we have visited. We wanted to try something new that was close. The inside dining was nicer than I had expected from the photos posted on here. They have QR codes for the menu's. The service was good. We had a gentleman and he was very quick and attentive to us. I got a Steak Burrito Suizo. It was very good, they forgot that I asked for extra rice instead of beans but promptly brought it right out with no questions. My guest got the vegetarian tacos. We both enjoyed our meals. We shared an order of quac, plenty for both of us with extra for our meals. The cantina salsa was also my favorite kind especially with the fresh salted chips. We enjoyed ourselves! read more

After finally heading here this summer, we have been ordering food from here every two weeks on average. I've loved everything I've had - shrimp tacos, fish tacos. Mia's is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I started out with their delicious margarita and chips and salsa. I'm a big fan of both. The margaritas always require a refill! The opening appetizer, if you don't count chips and salsa (I don't, but my doctor does. Ugh!) was Mia's delicious ceviche! It is so light, flavorful and packed with shrimp. It's a must try. Then I had the flautas! So full of flavor with a perfect crunch! I went with chicken flautas. This is great as an entree or appetizer. There are three to an order, so be prepared to fight for that extra one if sharing! Finally, I had the tamales. Fresh corn and pablano tamales stuffed with the chef's weekly special. The poblanos and fresh corn make these stand out from a standard tamale. They are extremely filling, so plan accordingly! With two tamales per order, this can also be a meal or appetizer depending on who is eating. It's clear that it's not a meal for me! I Love me some Mia's! #supportlocalrestaurants read more

My favorite food ever! Strongly suggest if you want good Mexican food. Staff is great! Food and also drinks are great too!

Food was good but a little on the pricy side. Chips & salsa are wonderful homemade! Cute decorations & welcoming atmosphere.

I visited the Wheeling location and it's a great place to dine outdoors! Our meal started with chips and salsa being brought out to the table, which is always a plus. The service was very attentive and came outside many times to check on us and fill up our water. The plantains were a hit and everyone loved them! Definitely recommend giving them a try. Our favorite entree was the trio of enchiladas. Being able to taste different sauces and fillings was great and they all were very flavorful. The tamales were cheese stuffed and very tasty, however, the cheese in the middle could have been heated up more because it wasn't very melty. The shrimp tacos were seasoned well, but the shrimp had a bit of a fishy taste. Next time I would try a different taco. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back. read more

Found this on yelp and stopped by with a big group. They only had one waitress that went above and beyond and it was only here since it was noon. We ordered some Pacifico beer, piña coladas, jarritos and horchata water. Everything tasted great accept for the horchata water it was missing something but everything else was great. The place was super clean as well and have a big bar. The food was delicious we ordered tampiqina which was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well and the enchilada was good. We also got skirt steak which was very delicious as well same cut of meat as the tampiqina with rice and black refried smashed beans so delicious and three plantains so good. We ordered cocktail de camarón had a lot of shrimp and aguacate and very delicious. Carne en su jugo was a big bowel of soup with white beans, chopped steak and a Serrano pepper. The soup was very flavorful and it was a first for me but I enjoyed it. We got a steak burrito and the price of 18 bucks might sound high but it worth it. It is a meal for two and the meat is seasoned very good. The sopes de chorizo you get three small in an order and they are very delicious I recommend them especially as an appetizer. The kids quesadilla with rice and beans was nice presentation and enough food for two kids. Overall I enjoyed this place and I found out it the mero mero restaurant in Schaumburg is owned by them but I seemed to enjoys it here more. I also forgot you get chips and salsa and they are good. Loved the salsa with that oregano taste. read more

Delicious food, great cocktails, fun ambiance. We visited Mia's the first day that Illinois opened post COVID and we're so glad we did. The food was delicious, we tried: The tamales- they ran out of the meat tamales so our party had the cheese. The tamales were a good size and could be an entree if you wanted. Ceviche- I love ceviche and this was a great version. Sadly, it is a small portion so it's a great starter but not entree sized. Guacamole- delicious and fresh. Elote- grilled and cheesy it's a great version of the street favorite. It comes on the cob so be ready to dig in mouth first. Enchiladas Suizas- ordered them with beef and mole sauce. The mole was a hit; deliciously nutty and creamy. Yum! Pollo al mole- the mole sauce was delicious and the chicken was cooked perfectly. It didn't come with a side so we wished it came with rice or beans. The cocktails were very refreshing. We had the regular margarita and the pomegranate margarita. Both were delicious and paired perfectly with the meal. We'll be back to try the tacos! read more

So many great things about Mia's. Friendly atmosphere. A relatively quiet street in downtown Mt. Prospect. A few tv's to keep up on sports and news but the food... Holy mole. Moley. Mole a. Mol yay. Whatever. You know chocolatey spicy, sweet and tangy. Get the damn burrito suizo with mole AND habanero sauces on top. I like the Al Pastor... *#%!?*#!? ing delicious. The burrito by itself is superb. The pastor is tangy and tasty and charred well with fresh ingredients. Kay... So THEN you top it with melted cheese. Okay?! So THEN they douse it with one or two of four sauces that all stand alone as delicious but together create an unstoppable force shoving bite after bite into my immovable face. Hawking would be astonished. The bar looks so tempting. There are tequilas lurking around every corner. So tempting. Did I mention the garlic tiger shrimp? No? Now I did. Everyone will know you loved these shrimp and I swear the vampires will be nowhere near you. Worth it. Eat all of the garlic. All of it. Sooooo good. Very friendly service, quick and clean. So stuffed!! But we still finished the chips afterwards. read more

We came here during the quarantine, and they had plenty of outdoor seating available. We came on a windy day, which was a little difficult, but it would be perfect for a sunny day. Their chips are UNREAL. They are warm and flakey, and perfectly salty. Also, they continue to bring back more if you finish them early, which is always my favorite. I ordered the enchiladas verdes, and my guest ordered the burrito. My guest wasn't happy with her burrito. She thought it was a bit flavorless, and wasn't thrilled with the taste of her sides. However, my enchiladas were DELIGHTFUL. I would definitely order them again. I enjoyed the carrots in the rice, and the green sauce was very flavorful. We also had great service, so overall this was a good experience. I am rating this four stars because the burrito was not the move for ordering. read more
