I frequently order from Taco Maya, but I do not think I will be giving them any more business after my latest experience. I placed a delivery order which included a Jarritos bottled drink. The drink was packed laying on its side on top of the food - it's cap was bent and the drink leaked throughout the bag and soaked through all the food. We called the restaurant to report the issue and they refused to take any accountability, blaming the delivery driver for the opened, leaking bottle. The restaurant worker then told us the phone call was a waste of his time and he was too busy to keep talking to us. We asked for a resolution or the ability to talk to a manager - both of which he refused. Throughout the conversation, he repeatedly stated that we were lucky he did not hang up on us because he was working while we were at home on the couch. Ironically, he did hang up on us. Now that I know that this business will refuse to take any accountability or provide any customer service if an issue should arise, I will no longer be giving them my business. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I'm visiting my friend for the weekend from out of state and was excited to try one of her favorite local restaurants. She orders from here very regularly. When we received our delivery order we discovered the bottle of Jarritos that was packed sideways inside of a paper bag had spilled through the entire bag, soaking the food and making it inedible. We quickly called the restaurant to let them know of the issue and expecting them to offer a resolution (either refund or to remake our order). I understand that things happen and Taco Maya didn't manufacture the Jarritos bottle, but as a restaurant, they have a responsibility to pack the order properly, and also to respond to issues with a resolution (part of the biz). Instead we got a rude, condescending, refusal to do anything to make things right. The restaurant worker, I think his name was Puny (sp?) insisted there was no manager present, he didn't want to call the manager as the manager doesn't work on the weekends, and he didn't have access to remake our order because he didn't have $60 to outlay from the business (all things he explicitly stated.) He insisted our only options were to 1) place an entirely new order (without a refund - meaning we would have to spend double!) or that he would leave a note about the issue (no guaranteed follow up of any kind). He told us that customer service is a waste of his time. Then, he diverted into a personal attack, asking us if we would call our own managers while they were out of office (irrelevant) and that we were lucky he was offering us these "options" and not hanging up on us. He repeatedly stated he was too busy to help us and that he'd had a long day. He also told us "I know you're just sitting on your couch right now" - personal attack that were totally unnecessary and uncalled for. Now, we're out $60 and have no dinner. Please, think twice before you order from here because if there's ANY kind of issue there is ZERO accountability (or even a simple acknowledgment) from this restaurant. They've definitely lost a loyal customer- shame because we both love supporting local businesses. read more

Amazing food! My parents and I got veggie taco, shrimp, paneer, chicken, and samosa. Everything was authentic on Tuesdays it's buy 2 and 1 get one free. It's cool you can order from the QR scan and pay at the end. The decor is cute with Mexican themed and karaoke room too with nice string lights outside. Sitting down was the highlight of this visit. Sat down, ordered a House Margarita and Fresh Made Guac. The drink was average and the Guac was in front of me less than 30 seconds after I ordered it. Calling it "Fresh Made" is false advertising as this was clearly Pre-Made. That was the one and only time I was checked on. As the only actual patron in the building (there was one guy in the video gambling section) you would think one of the workers would have asked how my food was or if I wanted another drink. Nope, not once. They were too busy talking, or just leaving the building to get dinner elsewhere, or watching videos on their phones. No need to ever visit this place again. read more

I tried the 3 taco plate - 1 Nashville cauliflower hot, 2 grilled steak tacos and the refried rice and beans. I also tried the shrimp ceviche. The steak tacos were decent, the Nashville cauliflower was delicious and something different you don't really see at Mexican Restaurants. The shrimp ceviche was also great a ton of flavor and was a good portion size. I'd definitely recommend a stop here (or order) if you want some different kind of Mexican food. read more

We are frequent customers of the Niles location of Taco Maya. This one is somewhat different. The restaurant is huge and prides itself on table service. The menu is the same and they have the salsa bar that I enjoy the most. My wife and I shared the combo fajitas and the complimentary chips and salsa. Food was warm, fresh and tasty. The only thing that diminished the experience was the video gambling machines on the side of the dining room. It changes the ambience from modern and spacious to tacky. Not to mention that if you have toddlers you're going to want to keep them out of that area. read more

Though Taco Maya is best known for their delicious tacos and seafood entrees, this restaurant is also a great place to hangout to enjoy a cold beer or fancy cocktail (or my favorite, the horchata) while also watching some sports on one of many TVs available. This is available at high tops, normal dining seating, and at their bar. The benefits of going here versus the standard bar are many -- including a vast amount of parking space, bright lighting, excellent service, a seriously good food menu, great prices, and a strong and varied set of appetizers and desserts. Even if you're not too hungry, it's great to stop by and try their fried ice cream or churros for a fancier dessert option if you're casually hanging out. My husband and I were out with a friend and wanted to watch the Thursday night football game. We were next to a sports bar, but we were not happy with the changes in decor the list time we were there. That's when we remembered that Taco Maya had big screen TVs. We went in to watch the game, and we were able to get a high top table in front of the TV. We ordered a Corona, Blue Moon, and a horchata for drinks. Since we had already eaten dinner, we had dessert there. We ordered the fried ice cream and the churros. Everything tasted great, and we got to watch the game in a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The Arlington Heights location is the only Taco Maya location with a Mariscos menu (Seafood). All good items are made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. The Chef (Patricio) was raised in Mexico City and uses many family recipes with many dishes from the Pacific region (Nayarit) which are rich in flavor. We started with chips and various salsas from mild to medium to hot. The avocado salsa was my favorite. Next were types of ceviches...fish and shrimp..fresh and flavorful both topped with avocado slices. Of course we had to try one of their House margaritas made with fresh juices and their own tequila..Yum! Our main dish was an assortment of fish fillets with white rice and corn topped with garlic diablo and serandeado sauce. Both were good with just the amount of heat. I also tried their shrimp cocktail which was a sweet tomato sauce with diced onions and cilantro. We ended with an order of their homemade churros filled with a strawberry sauce drizzled with chocolate sauce. We ordered the Tuesday Special which was their version of Taco Tuesday. We had Four Pastor tacos which was delicious and lots of flavors, then we had two tacos free which was buy two get any tacos free, We had one Pork belly and one Steak tacos which was also very good. Will try the other tacos and specialty ones before we go t try the rest of the food. Went to Taco Maya for lunch on a weekday afternoon, and the place was pretty empty. They have tons of seating inside, including a Maya Room to host parties or get togethers. They offer a lunch special on the weekdays which includes 3 tacos + rice and beans. They do have pre-selected tacos for the lunch specials, so you can't order outside of those. We ordered a few items - al pastor burrito, a chilli potato taco, and a paneer taco. We also got a plate of the lunch special with the samosa taco, grilled veggie taco, and al pastor taco. Their al pastor burrito and taco were SO good! They were smoky, spicy, and sweet. The pineapple was perfect with the seasoning and the meat was so juicy and tender. Next up was the paneer taco and the chilli potato taco, both of which were equally delicious. Both were very flavorful and made for a perfect bite! Great option if you're a vegetarian as well! The samosa taco is the perfect blend of Indian and Mexican flavors. It's one of my favorite tacos here and they offer $1 samosa tacos on Mondays so you know exactly where to find me those days!! LOL. Lastly, the grilled veggie taco was probably our least favorite. The veggies were mostly raw inside, not cooked. The cheese was a nice touch but it did need some salsa or sauce inside, which was missing. Lastly, the rice + beans were a good filler on the side for the lunch special but I did have to put a lot of salsa and hot sauce on both to add flavor. They were pretty bland on their own. Taco Maya does have a ton of variety and a lot of delicious options on their menu. I'm not sure if the lunch special was worth it, I would rather get a plate full of tacos or another entree instead. Definitely be sure to get their al pastor when you visit and some of their vegetarian tacos are truly some of the best on their menu! read more

visited on a tuesday evening to take advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free taco deal. i got 3 al pastor because i loved it at the south loop location. however the pork here had a lot of fatty and burnt pieces which made it not very enjoyable. i still liked the complimentary chips and salsa as well as the self-serve salsa bar. my favorites are the avocado salsa and the jalapeños. service was nothing special. she checked in once. didn't fill up waters. i'm still willing to try the other meats so i may come back. read more

Yum! A friend and I checked out Taco Maya for the first time on Dec. 30. We ordered at the counter and were given a basket of chips and salsa to munch on while we waited for our food to be prepared. I ordered chicken enchiladas, and was given a choice of red sauce or green sauce. I chose green, and the enchiladas arrived covered it it, along with cheese. They were perfectly seasoned and tasted good! My meal also came with sides of rice and beans. The rice was fine, but I didn't care for the beans. But I'm not a refried bean aficionado-- I eat them about half the time -- so not liking them wasn't a surprise to me or a big deal. The restaurant was clean and spacious, and had a party room on one side. My friend ordered tacos and also enjoyed her food. We both said we'd come back. Unfortunately, I don't like posting bad reviews on small businesses. In this case I feel the need to let the business know there's a lot of room for improvements. The ambiance is a little dreary. Food was below par and bland. Drinks appears to be premixed. Service needs a lot of work. I ended up clearing the table prior to our desserts being served. We have tried many of the other Taco Mayas and each offers the same menu item, but the experience is very different. This was the first time we tried this location. It is large open space, with outdoor space and a bar. Unlike the other restaurants, it offers table service. We immediately were greeted, offered a table and chips and salsa. I had the burrito bowl with al pastor. The serving was generous and I thought the $14 price was reasonable. My husband had the 3 taco plate for $15. There were several comments stating prices were high, but to us they seemed appropriate. There was only one server/host and even though it was not super crowded, he had alot of work to do, but was keeping up. I would not say he was overly friendly, but service was good. They do have a separate menu for fish dishes. When they get busier, they will need more servers. read more

This is a family owned restaurant with 9 locations (don't quote me) total. The staff is friendly & the Mexican-Indian mix of dishes are one of a kind! This location has a great atmosphere, big bar, seating for families, gaming area & space for private parties too! Cleanliness:80% but it was empty. Total charged: 14 food 20 for beer 3% fee. What got me agitated we are 4 of us and they ONLY gave us 2 chips tray which not enough for the table but each of us got charged 3% fee so DONT bother going to this location. The food was really good. I'd say the quality was on par with the prices. Not authentic but definitely a fun spot with lots of drinks. Salsa bar was definitely fun, I recommend the Arbol salsa. The steak was extremely tender. We came two hours before closing and it was completely empty the entire time but the staff was super sweet and friendly. Stopped in for a margarita before my shopping trip at Target. (How convenient they are both basically in the same parking lot!) To my surprise, they use fresh natural juices in the margs! I ordered a watermelon and the bartender also gave me a taste of the mango and guava juice; All delicious!! They sell the juices for $18 each and have happy hours weekdays 4-7pm. Very cute inside. As much as I wanted to love Taco Maya, repeated experiences have forced me to reconsider my patronage. The most glaring issue is their consistent inability to get orders correct. In my experience, approximately 60% of the orders have been wrong. This isn't just about missing a sauce or two; it's about completely getting the order mixed up, which can be incredibly frustrating, especially if you're picking up food for multiple people with different dietary preferences or allergies. When bringing these concerns to the attention of the staff, and more specifically to the manager, Deep, the lack of concern is palpable. The responses have ranged from indifferent to dismissively telling me they are "too busy" to ensure accuracy. This attitude towards customer service is unacceptable. As a customer, it is reasonable to expect that your order will be correct, or at the very least, that staff will handle mistakes with a degree of professionalism and courtesy. The food itself, when correct, is average at best, which does not compensate for the hassle and frustration of dealing with incorrect orders almost every other visit. It's a shame because the community needs good, reliable taco spots, but unfortunately, Taco Maya does not seem to fit that bill. I have decided to take my business elsewhere and would advise potential customers to consider how much they value reliability and customer service before deciding to dine or order take out at Taco Maya. read more

So much flavor and the pork belly is to die for. The place always has some great music playing in the background and I heavily suggest coming here to anybody in the area.
