My 2 coworkers and I ventured over to Overlake Plaza to check out Miah's Kitchen, specifically because their hot oil seared biang biang noodles were featured on Seattle Magazine. We ordered the green onion pancake, cold sesame noodle, garlic broccoli, pork fried rice with mushrooms, pork and leek dumplings, and the hot oil seared biang biang noodles, of course. All in all, I would say that the experience was just average, other than the ordering which was unique because they have dry erase menus that you can mark up to show what dishes you want. The green onion pancake was pretty bland. Even a sprinkle of salt would have helped. The cold sesame noodle was okay: flavorful, but the tofu (or whatever protein they use for it) was a bit weird. The pork fried rice was actually pretty decent but on the oily side. Surprisingly, the garlic broccoli was fantastic! Deceptively simple, it was boiled in a perfectly salted broth bath with just the right amount of garlic to add some zing. The dumplings also were just okay, but came with a good sauce. Finally, the feature of the meal, the biang biang noodles, were also just okay. You can tell it was freshly hand-shaven, but nothing in the seasoning or preparation made it awesome. We ordered to go from this restaurant last week. Szechuan style food. Ordered the celery appetizer, beef noodle soup, and the biang biang noodles with tomatoes and egg. Big thumbs up for the noodles. Noodles are house made and they are very good indeed. These included the wheat noodles accompanying the beef soup. The celery appetizer was very authentic and had been made with Szechuan peppercorns. I felt my lips go numb when I ate this dish. Unfortunately, the food was swimming in oil. Even the soup noodles were oily. I did like the tomato and egg combination on the biang biang noodles, but wish there had been a lot less oil and a little more vegetables in the dishes. There really were no vegetables at all, but I think both the oil and lack of vegetables are typical for Szechuan. Also, their beef soup was not very good. The broth was completely flavorless. If you like Szechuan food and good house made noodles, I would recommend this place. If you don't like oily food, I wouldn't. I'm fairly new to Xian food, but I'm a sucker anytime there's hand pulled/ripped noodles on the menu. Came in for some Cumin Beef Biang Biang Noodles and a Stewed Pork Sandwich. At $6.99, the Stewed Pork Sandwich is much more expensive and lacked flavor compared to the other places I've had it. The Cumin Beef Noodles was a huge bowl of wide hand pulled noodles topped with beef, onions and green peppers. They really went all in on the cumin flavor. The best way I can describe it is like beef fajita mix over noodles. The noodles were a bit over done and broke apart when you try to pull them with chop sticks. It tasted a little better the next day. I was really hoping to find some great Xian noodles on the Eastside, after falling in love with them at Xian Noodles in the U District. I will note, the restaurant was filled with native Chinese people who seemed to really enjoy the food, so maybe I'm just not used to this regional style of Chinese food. read more

Food: 2.5 - As others have mentioned, the noodles have nice texture to them, but are incredibly oily. I dined here three separate times to try 3 different biang biang noodle dishes (tomato & egg, stewed pork, pork zha jiang) and every single dish had pools of oil at the bottom and left my lips coated with it. :( Service: 3 - As someone who spoke English dining here, I felt really out of place. I could never tell if the staff couldn't understand what I was saying, or if they were annoyed that I was speaking English. Research the menu ahead of time with friends or google--any questions you have probably won't be answered. Surroundings: 5 - Everything is kept clean and the inside is pretty spacious. Seating available for large parties or for two. Parking was never an issue when I dined here weekday evenings and during the Saturday lunch rush. I want to give it a five star because the food is excellent. Very authentic and the portion is good. However it's slightly over priced in my opinion but that won't stop me from coming back. My friend and I ordered Liang pi, pork Rou jia mo, lamb pao mo soup and big chicken plate with biang biang noodle. The food is enough for at least three maybe even four people. Highly recommend lamb pao mo soup. The bowl comes with enough lamb but it doesn't include the sweet garlic. I decided to add the sweet garlic and they charge about .7$ for about 10 pieces which is too many process for a bowl of pao mo. Big chicken plate is a must and I highly recommend adding the noodles. The noodle tastes so good when it's soaked in the juice. Liang pi is surprisingly good. Love it. Definitely try it if you are a noodle lover. The pork jia mo is the only thing I may not order again. Not very authentic. It's not bad or anything, just not surprisingly good as the other dishes. Will definitely come again. By the way the four dishes added up about 70$ before tip. read more

What a delightfully original restaurant in Redmond. I can't think of any other place in the area that specializes in biangbiang noodles and is not afraid of sticking to what they're good at. It's not very often that you find this kind of thick noodles that are clearly homemade and authentically Chinese around here. And having quick service on every day of the week makes this even more of an appealing place to visit for lunch or dinner. I've tried several bowls of their biangbiang noodles, and they've never let me down. Basically, they're wide noodles topped with different kinds of meats and sauces. Both large and small bowls are reasonably priced and very filling. The menu is clear on what you order, and they even provide black markers for writing your order down on the menu, so you don't have to say anything. This certainly isn't the only noodle restaurant nearby, but it might just be the best. read more

For being my first time, I'm not really sure how to rate it. On one hand, the food was delicious, service alright. and the lunch hour wasn't as crazy busy as I thought it was going to be. We ended up ordering Cold Rice Noodles bowl and Big Chicken Platter. The waiter was nice, college-looking boy who took our order and went away. No checking up on us throughout the hour or anything close to it. We actually had to "holla" at him when we were ready for our check. But back to the food. Cold Rice Noodles is the only thing that would make me go back there. It was refreshing and the "mystery chewy meat" was actually not bad either. Big Chicken Platter was a 50/50 for me. Flavor was good and the dish is huge! But the chicken pieces looked like scraps that they took from other dishes, threw in a pot of olive oil and served with some noodles and potatoes. No hating on me now.) and this meat was like it: gamey, bone remnants...you get the idea. The portion was also small with about seven chunks of meat stuff. No rice. No veggies. The biang biang noodles are delicious. They are wide and springy. You can get them topped in various ways. I tried the spicy cumin beef. The spice came from green peppers, jalapeños I believe. It wasn't too spicy. I enjoyed the dish. It was large enough to share and get other dishes to try. The green onion pancake was just okay, and didn't come with a dipping sauce (typically my guilty pleasure). The place is sparsely decorated, very casual, and food focused. First time here. Ordered cold noodles, spicy rice noodles, shaved noodles, Xi'an chicken and other stuff. Rice noodles are not fresh made. They tasted like some instant or packaged pre-made ones. When she was not too busy, she would come out and chat with the children. she would make very fine noodle for the children to eat, and will also send some side dishes. A bit confused about this place. Do not mistaken, this is not a Vietnamese restaurant although they do have Pho on their menu. Ordered the cold spicy beef shank and although it was good, it was way too salty. The spicy & sour pork dumpling soup confused me; from the name I expect it to be spicy and sour. The dumpling soup came out in a light broth with green onion and cilantro garnished. The dumpling itself was of pork and lots of chives. I didn't detect any unique flavor from the dumpling or the soup. I ended up adding the spicy beef shank to my soup and it tasted much better after that. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish? I love their food! I studied abroad in 西安 and was thrilled to find some great biangbiangmian in my hometown! I love their spicy biangbiangmian, but with any of the biangbiangmian options you get delicious handmade noodles. So good! I recommend trying their 凉皮 (spicy cold rice noodles) with 肉夹馍 ("chinese hamburger"?) as well. We also loved their 酸梅汤 (plum juice). All the staff are extremely friendly, and if you're learning Mandarin they are very patient and encouraging towards you. Great food, great staff, reasonable prices. Definitely give Miah's Kitchen a try. I hope to be back soon! read more

3 of us were here on a Friday night around 5:30pm. There were plenty of space to sit and the servers are friendly. We ordered sao zi noodle, lamb pao mo noodle, a vegetable dish (cucumber salad and pork skin) and cumin beef flat bread. The dishes came very quickly. Cumin beef was tasty and spicy, but I found it a bit too salty. The cucumber salad was all right, a bit bland. The pork skin was great, nice texture and flavor. Among the 2 noodle dishes I prefer sao zi over the lamp pao mo. Sao zi had a tasty, sour tang to it which I loved. The pao mo had way too many carbs and the mutton smell was too strong. read more

Second time here. I think this is the same place as the up north one "Qin". We ordered the vege side dish with cucumber and pork jelly which is pretty good. And the spicy Liang Pi, it was good last time but this time the Liang pi was not looking good. It was small piece instead of the entire complete Liang pi. We asked for another one so they gave us another new plate which looks slight better. For entree we order bread in lamp soup and beef Biang biang noodle. The bread in lamp soup is surprising good. This is my first time trying this dish. The beef biang biang noodle I personally like " Xian noodle" better. Biang biang noodle here is too soft. Not chewy as "xi an noodle". Over all good flavor. The food was average, and the ambience was awkward. We ordered fresh squeezed plum juice, but it was so overwhelmingly sweet and floral, it tasted like some kind of fermented perfume. Favorite was the pork bao, with shredded pork and a strange bun that was like the Chinese version of an English muffin. Noodles with beef and cumin? First time visitor, and I was solo. Took a guess on what to order: spicy cumin beef biangbiang noodles. In a word: DELICIOUS. Wide homemade noodles in a bit of broth with beef, peppers, and bokchoi. So much flavor! It's a lot of food for one person, so bring a friend, then you can taste a variety of dishes. TL;DR An unassuming exterior and interior holds some pretty darn good noodles. Chinese cuisine is a bit of a blind spot for me, in that when I was younger, I was not a huge fan. This changed as I grew older, and I found myself at Miah's kitchen on a friend's idea of trying it. Decor is very plain, brightly lit with cheap tables and chairs, and plates that look like paper but are actually porcelain. You mark your choices on the big menu in a marker and they bring back you a big bowl of chewy biang biang noodles. Beyond refilling your water, what more do you need? The noodles themselves are chewy and fresh, though they do tend to fall apart if they sit in soup for too long. But, as you slurp them down fresh, there's little better. The two pork toppings are my favorite (I'm not one for egg and tomato, though I finally know it's a real food and not a dreamed up thing from Runescape), and I like the ground pork one more. Very flavorful and coats the noodles in their sauce. I also got the Cumin Beef sandwich, which I love as well, though it's a little pricy. The flatbread is chewy and crisp, and the beef has a fantastic flavor to it. I love cumin, so it was right up my alley. Overall, I was very satisfied with my visit. I may not be able to understand the whole menu, but there's one thing that I know I understand: I enjoy Miah's kitchen and will be back again soon. read more

Very classic Xi'an flavors. We took the shredded noddle with lamb soup and it tastes like I used to have in Shan'Xi.

I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup, expecting something similar to beef pho noodle soup. I did receive a bowl of noodles with beef, broth, onion and cilantro, but the flavor was very mild and just lacking something to really make me enjoy it. Also, the beef used in the bowl was very odd. It didn't look as if it was cooked, maybe it was cured or something first, but it was a very dark red color. After deciding that it must be cooked despite the appearance I ate it. It was like having thin beef jerky thrown into a bowl of broth. I felt that this was definitely not worth the $14 I spent on it. The hot chili hand pulled noodles are heaven. They're a little more aldente than the ones at Xi'an near UW, and definitely spicier. There are chunks of green onions and garlic in the bowl that you can gather up with the long, wide noodles. It's so simple yet so tasty. We also Tried the pork wonton soup and it was killer. They give you so many wontons and they're silky smooth fresh. All for $6! The beef and chive dumplings are good too but not earth shattering. Love this place. The smashed spicy eggplant was good except it had egg in it and that should have been listed in the menu since that dish was for a vegan. The bandit chicken was the worst and completely inedible. Had their Big Plate Chicken for a few times, like it a lot. It's rare to see a restaurant that makes Xinjiang food, and it happens to be my favorite kind of food, so this place is a gem to me. I feel obliged to mention that one of the servers (not sure if he's a manager or even owner) was so nice every time, providing a very pleasant experience. Lots of bad reviews here are from shady accounts with no history, no real pictures, and no cultural context. They are commenting on takeout orders (really? This isn't some general tso's), service (like many authentic Asian restaurants the employees speak their native language better than English. Shocking), or some crap about not liking this style of food. Two of the reviews were even blatantly racist - one just comparing all the food as "Chinese" versions of European food and calling anything they couldn't bad, and one racist commenter saying some "Asians eat dogs" crap. The hot oil biangbiang noodles and cold skin noodles are vegan, according to staff! The hot oil noodles are VERY spicy, so if you're more sensitive then I highly recommend the sesame cold skin noodles. It doesn't sound super appetizing but they're really good. Also try the sour plum juice and flatbread. I lived in Xi'an for a couple of months and this food tastes just like I remember. :) read more

This location just opened up recently and offers traditional Xi'An (Shan Xi) style Chinese food like cold noodles, rou jia mo, lamb paomo, etc. It's pretty authentic and tasty. I'm not sure why this restaurant is listed as Vietnamese. It's a Chinese restaurant serving authentic Xi'an food. If you don't know anything about Xi'an - it's where the Terracotta warriors were discovered, close to the province of Sichuan, and had a Muslim population in the city. So, the food there tends to be spicy (the tingly and numb kind) with blend of spices that came from the Middle East, most notably cumin. My group of four came on a Wednesday evening. We ordered the following dishes: *Pork sandwich *Cumin beef sandwich *Three combination noodles (with tomato and eggs, zha jiang, and sao zi jiang) *Liang pi The restaurant was running a special, so since we ordered over $15 of food we also got a free Sesame liang pi. Since the place was not very crowded, we got excellent service from the waiter, who was very attentive to our every need. While the sandwiches were overpriced and not as good as Xi'an Famous Foods from New York, the noodle dishes were very delicious. The sesame liang pi was a nice treat on a summer day. Overall the food was not very expensive - the server even told us that if we worked nearby we could get a 10% discount by showing our badge. Update - apparently this only applies after 4pm. So of course we did that and the bill came out to be $30. Update - my boyfriend went back and tried the lamb soup. Would not recommend it :( It had thick skinned dumplings, carrots, and lamb all mushed together. The soup was a vinegar base that didn't quite go well with the dumplings. For the price of the food, it didn't meet my expectation. Big plate chicken, size of the chicken piece are bit too small.. And somehow theres no wing in there, I was expecting 2 winds.
