I'm a grizzled dad of 3 girls and over the last 9 years, I've been through every kind of kid's birthday party you can think of. From indoor adventure parks and house parties to Chuck E Cheese and pizza parties, I've seen them all. And without a doubt, Mia Cake House was the best one by far. My daughter was absolutely ecstatic about the place. The setting is really nice actually. They have a number of work stations and the kids get set up with ingredients, aprons, and accessories and then get right to work. The kids at the party were in the 5 to 6 year old range, yet they produced such amazing cupcakes. I really couldn't believe it. Kudos to the staff for explaining the process so well and for shepherding the kids through the creation process. Whomever came up with cupcake making birthday party idea for little kids is a genius. I am thrilled to have found Mia Cake House because it's so hard to find cake supply stores around Broward. The store has a great variety of supplies. It's decorated absolutely beautiful, the dessert cart in the front is to die for. They have an area in the back where they host classes and parties. It looks like it would be perfect for a kids birthday party if they have an interested in baking and decorating. We were all among friends so it was a fun time and I just could not believe how easy the teacher made it all seem. The impossible was totally possible as my cupcake creations looked pretty amazing. The sad part is you won't wanna eat them. After massaging the fondant and creating the masterpiece...you're like ehhhhh...not eating it. I took a cupcake decorating class recently at Mia Cake House, and it was highly enjoyable. The husband and wife duo keep the two hour class at a good pace and hands on with the participants. I love desserts and think of myself as a decent baker. One thing I don't usually have a patience for is the decorating part. As long as it tastes good, I leave the dessert as it is. This class was neat because I never work with fondant and three out of the four cupcakes, we used fondant. I would totally take a class here again. I had tried their cake years ago at a yelp event. This gave me an opportunity to try their cupcakes. The cupcakes are not overly sweet and are light/fluffy. Prefect consistency in their recipe. Everything was made by scratch and explained throughly. We celebrated my nieces birthday this past Sunday at this location. I loved the idea but did not enjoy the service. Very cute and well thought out party but the owner was not the most friendly person and did not know how to speak to children. He kept shushing the girls and attempted to make jokes that no one understood especially the children. We had little to no help with set up in the 20 minutes we had to set up. The young lady that was there to help arrived 5-10 minutes late which was not appreciated when you have only 20 minutes to organize and set up. The AC was not working (not there fault) but that just made it a bit of a frustrating experience on top of everything else. I am a business owner and I was highly disappointed with the owner and his attitude or lack there of children skills and patience. I enjoyed the class I took with my daughter, but be warned, it moves extremely fast to the point where it can get stressful. It also ran way over the time it was supposed to end. The people are nice and very good at what they do. It would be good if they offered a slower paced class for beginners and kids. That would help. read more

When I first moved to South Florida in 2014 I was looking for activities my then 12 year old daughter could do over the summer, and Mia Cake House popped up with their cake/cookie/cupcake decorating camps. Fast forward seven years later, and in light of COVID they upped their offerings to be able to do live virtual classes. Sheila is amazing with the kids (and adults) and makes creating masterful edible art something my 8 year old son can do, with very little assistance. Their kits are very comprehensive, they do a phenomenal job advising campers everything they will need for the class, and they take the time to really break down for the kids the How To so they can get amazing results. Had my daughter's 7th birthday party here (all 1st graders) and it was THE CUTEST! She's already planning her next year party at Mia Cake House. The venue is adorable with their own decor so no need for lots of decorations. They make it easy with clear instructions so that everybody's cupcakes look great, they have all of the supplies rationed out for each child prior to the party, they have a formula set and it works SO well!! The staff are SUPER sweet, accommodating, and helpful. And the cupcakes are delicious! This is a brilliant idea for parties and classes, can't wait to come back! read more

We had a wonderful experience at Mia Cake house for a 10 year old boy. He had a coed guest list, a few more boys than girls, ranging in ages 8-12. My bestie was a "guest" with her 3 year old in her lap so he could participate. The owners recommend kids 5 and older. The setup was in a large bright room. In the center of the room was a large table for food prep and decorating. My guest limit was 15. Any more than that, it would not have been enough space for each child to work comfortably. The owners had the kids to all wash their hands, each child was given an apron. The owners had everyone sit and watch them make a batch of cupcake batter, and each child was allowed to come up and actually perform a step. This kept each child engaged in what could have easily bored them to tears. Then after those cupcakes were put into the oven, each child was given 4 plain cupcakes to decorate with fondant (I'll post a pic when I can) to take home. After that, we sang happy bday and ate pizza I had delivered and a cake I bought from Costco - I appreciated that they let me bring in a cake, their cakes started at about $100 for a full out decorated cake. My son was skeptical at first, and I had to call it a "Chef kids baking event" (golly forbid calling it a cupcake party-lol) but he was so appreciative of having this unique experience. Simple setup. Very professionally run. Easy clean up. It was the same price as about a bounce house full out party, but we just had to limit our guests to 15 participants, which will be difficult if your child wants to invite his entire school class. But I invited my close friends and their kids who were my son's closest friends, which made it a very nonjudgmental birthday "try-this-out" event for us ;-) read more

My best friend had her daughter's 9th birthday party here. It was so cute. The kids each got to decorate 4 cupcakes and everyone's came out fantastic, they did not look like 8 and 9 year olds made them. The birthday cake looked phenomenal, truly a professional custom job. The kids had pizza for lunch, and were given cupcakes for dessert. I had one of the vanilla cupcakes which was very moist and really yummy. I don't eat cake very often, but I would definitely have another one of their cupcakes. Mia's offers a bunch of different classes that you can take and the store front was filled with tons of baking equipment, and supplies. The employees, were very nice, and interacted well with the kids. The reason I did not give them 5 stars is that they were pretty pricey, I believe it was $30 per child for a 2 hour party, I'm not sure if the pizza was included or if that was purchased separately. It is drop off only because the space is small and the party is limited to a max of 20 kids. Also while I was there 2 people came in looking to purchase cupcakes. They don't sell them, they only make the cakes, and cupcakes for their decorating classes, party's, and custom orders. Just left a birthday party and I don't think I have been to a worse party ever (except for the one time we were here for another party a few years). The owner ( I assume) is rude and anti fun. She won't let you talk or laugh or look anywhere because you have to pay attention to just her and if you don't she has this bell that she rings super loud. She rushes kids to finish decorating 4 cupcakes with fondant and butter cream. The cupcakes are cute but the birthday girl broke down and cried because the directions were too hard. It's such a shame I'm writing this review. I had initially wanted to get a custom cake made here as they came highly recommended and when I called the store about setting up an appointment, I was basically told, to email them and they're face to face meetings are limited due to their classes, which is okay-tacky, if you're trying to drive business, you want to get people in your doors. I was a little peeved by the initial customer service i received, not a real good first impression. So I emailed them and I had to email them twice because they didn't respond back to me in the span of a week. When I finally got a response I was given a price and then another price to try and upsell custom piece. Really? You want my money within the first email, but you won't even send a sketch of your so-called "custom creation?" I emailed back and let them know i wanted to at least see a sketch and bring the pricing a down a little as I had problem with committing to spend money on a cake that I had no idea what it would look like. Another week later and I have yet to hear from them. Crickets. I'm not going to chase people to give them my money. In the end, I found another place to make my cake and they responded to my email within hours. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. What a shame. As a person who tries to to support small business it really saddens me that the service received from the owner was so poor. Over the past few weeks I have visited Mia's Cake House a few times to purchase product for my daughter's upcoming birthday. In total I spent hundreds and each time the gentleman helping me seemed like I was more of a bother than a loyal customer. Today I went in to purchase additional items which are available at any craft store. He was so rude when I simply asked if the amount of frosting previously purchased from him was sufficient or if I needed to purchase more that left. I could understand if I wasn't spending money and wasting him time. However, that was not the case everything he recommended I bought and some. Everyone is entitled to a bad day, but not everyday! The cupcakes do not taste good. I am betting their cakes and frosting is made with the same ingredients. I would have to say their frosting is just high-ratio shortening mixed with powdered sugar. I bought a dozen cupcakes . Paid half price with a coupon . Even then , not worth the price + taste. Publix taste better . The cake part of the cupcakes taste like an easy bake oven batter + the smell of play dough. The decorations are outstanding for their cakes that I have seen pictures of. I have to give them credit for that !! But the flavor is not there. My boyfriend and I both had a cupcake, and had the same grossed out look on our face. My daughter did two weeks of cake decorating camp here during summer 2020 when we were limited to zoom camps. They were incredibly organized -- I mean everything was accounted for and they were very quick to respond to any inquiry. She made amazing creations every day. She was a little on the older side, so the pace was a little slow for her, but she still had a great time and learned a lot. Highly recommend - and friends and a cousin signed up later based on our Rec. I can only imagine the in person classes (where they get to do more icing techniques) would be even better. Mia Cake House did an absolutely outstanding job on our custom cake. My father was a pilot and recently retired. I live afar and was travelling back home for his retirement party. We have an infant son and so I didn't have much time to prepare. I was perusing Pinterest and saw people had custom pilot uniform cakes made. So I thought I'd inquire with local business in S FL; this was with less than one week to spare. I have read some of the reviews below and my experience was in sharp contrast to some of the lower scores. For example, I e-mailed Mia Cake House on a Sunday inquiring about the cake and received a response that night. They responded within hours in our subsequent e-mails the following weekdays. Moreover, Sheila clearly read my e-mails in detail which I found to be very helpful as we were in a different state. That said, I did also call her twice and we had a very polite and professional conversations. In addition, she was very thoughtful and clearly explained issues with the cake, the order process, etc in detail. And not to mention, she had the best price of every company I had contacted (they clearly state on their webpage that they charge ~$5 per serving, which is actually very reasonable. The pilot cake fed 25 for $125 and every other company we contacted wanted at least $165. And most importantly, the cake was amazing. I sent Sheila two pictures, one of a similar cake that we wanted, and another of my father's company's pilot wings. She outdid herself. The uniform was amazing. Incredibly detailed, down to stitching along the edges of the collar, pocket, and shoulder stripes. Not to mention the pilot wing; she hand painted the company logo and it looked amazing. Needless to say, the cake literally amazed so many people. And it tasted amazing. We got the marble version and everyone loved it. As an interesting twist, we ended up with FIVE cakes at the party (my mom and each bought one) and then one of my dad's friends seriously showed up with three (2 homemade cheesecakes and an icecream cake--and she didn't let us know either!). Anyway, most people all felt Mia's cake tasted best on top of the amazing looks. Bottom line - we had nothing but wonderful experience in every aspect of this transaction. Sheila was most responsive, read e-mails and communicated clearly, had the best pricing, and most importantly, produced an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime cake for my dad's retirement. We will certainly do business with them again, recommend them highly, and I hope to attend one of their classes. read more

It's a birthday and not a class where they are rushed and reprimanded for dirtying the baking table. The owner "shhhhs" the girls attending the party. A/C was not working, so the place was extremely hot (that I understand is not the places fault). I love watching baking championships on TV and I wanted to learn how to do it myself. Luckily I was able to find this place that offered classes and was also affordable ($35). I absolutely loved it. My cupcakes came out amazing. You wouldn't believe that it was my first time. It was a 2 hour class: the 1st half was watching one of the owners make the cupcakes. He gave us very helpful tips. The 2nd half was the other owner showing us how to decorate with fondant. Both owners were so nice, friendly and funny! Due to it being so close to Easter, we did Spring cupcakes instead of the standard designs they do for this class. I came home and immediately bought a bunch of stuff on amazon so that I can practice. Mia's doesn't only offer classes. Their main business is making/selling cakes and cupcakes of course. They also have a store in the front. I didn't buy anything because i had to leave as soon as the class was over but I have friends who bought stuff from there and said the prices were very reasonable. We hosted a Cupcake Baking and Decorating party for my 11 year old and both the kids and parents had a great time! My daughter was all smiles the entire time. The customer service here is terrible. I called Mia Cake Shop and specifically asked for a 24k gold luster dust- which the man who answered had said yes. A little bit of driving to this place and when I get there I ask for the product I had asked over the phone. The man that I had talked to was helping me at the store and then he rudely started to comment saying that there is no such thing as different tones of gold (I called because I OBVIOUSLY bought different tones of gold in search of the right one) , so I kindly replied that he is mistaken because I've been told that the previously bought gold from other stores was the 24k which I am sure it wasn't, so now I have 4 different "24k gold dust". He raised his voice and rudely telling that I'm wrong so I decided not to continue arguing - it's pointless, but why even bother arguing with a customer. (All of this happened while he was on the register and I was on the other side of the store. How unprofessional. The gold I bought at Mia ended up being THE SAME as another I bought at another store, and it was DOUBLE the price. Wouldn't go back- because of customer service. My friend was there with me. She even noticed you raising your voice, I may have put a smile on my face because I was taught not to be rude and just smile. Uses less muscles in the face anyway. I was patiently waiting in check out line because you were helping another customer, you weren't done with that customer and you ask me halfway helping her if I was ready, in a rude tone.
